Modules & VBA :: Transfer Text - CSV Format

Jan 27, 2015

I have a simple query and I want to export it in excel, Comma Separated Value., .CSV

I tried to run DoCmd.TransferText but all of my attempts were futile.

I found it, I must export it as TXT and file suffix insert .csv instead of .txt and it works

Now can I execute this "Saved Exports" through a macro or docmd ?

I insert a picture just to make it more clear.

Transfer Date W/ Custom Format To A Text Field?

Oct 17, 2007

I'm building a report that requires me to concatenate several fields plus additional words, etc. But not all of the fields are the same data type. I have the date formatted the way I want it in a date/time field in one table (dd mmmm yyyy), and I want to append that date into a text field in another table, maintaining the same format.

Now, when I do a normal append or update query, it appends as medium date format (dd-mmm-yy). If I change the field type in the original table from date/time to text, it also shows up in medium date format.

Any ideas on how to make this work, or other options for concatenating fields with different data types?

edit: I don't want to change the data type of the original field to text.

Modules & VBA :: Text Box Transfer

Nov 12, 2013

so i have MainForm and PopUp (which is also a form). on the MainForm there is a command button that brings up the PopUp form. on this PopUp form, some data will be entered then the PopUp form will be closed via a command button.

whats the code i would need to take a value from a control on PopUp and place it in a control on MainForm, ideally when the command button closes the PopUp form.so i know it has to go on the command button's on click event, probably before the close form code lol... but i cant figure out how to get the value to transfer over..

Modules & VBA :: Text Box Percentage Format

Mar 2, 2015

I have set the format of a text box (named: scrILS) to percentage. It shows on the form as 0.00%

When I try to run calculations off of it like: = [scrILS]*[totBuysFYDP1], it throws this error: #TYPE!

It seems as though the textbox is keeping it as text for the percent sign "%" is preventing any calculations against it... here's the strange part... it doesn't happen initially when I open the form... the calculations work and I get no error, but I have code that recalculates everything based on values picked in a list box... on the requery I get the error.

When I look at the watch frame for that control it shows the scrILS value as:
"00.0%" not 00.0%... any thoughts on this?

I attempted to just take the thing as a string and use a replace function against the "%" then calculating... that works, but then the initial form load throws the error.

Seems like I am missing something in the property settings, but I don't know what. Is there something that forces the format value, setting percentage as a number vs. text?... I thought that was just part of the format setting...no?

Transfer HTML That Has XLS File Format In Access 2010 Using VBA

Oct 20, 2015

I have a downtime system that was created by our IT department that records the downtime of the line stops, it has export to excel button that will export the downtime to excel based off the parameters of date and time. I want to do the export then import to access for downtime analysis. The problem I am having is the programmers export it as HTML with .xls file format. and the worksheet has a date associated with it as well as the spreadsheet has a tab that contains a date and I can't figure away to import to a fixed table. So I tried the transfer spreadsheet not knowing it was in HTML, couldn't recognize the format, then I tried transfer HTML, can't find the file because of .xls file format. I know I could re-save it as a excel file but was trying to keep the steps to a min. Is there a way to import even though it has a date attached to the file and spreadsheet tab.

Modules & VBA :: Can't Find And Format Section Of Text Within RTF Memo Field

Jul 8, 2013

I had the need every so often to quickly find all instances of any (particular) word within the database, without going to the bother of thinking about where that word/subject might be in the data base, I designed a report which does the job nicely. It uses a search form/control, searches and finds all instances of the word (or words) I have asked it to find, then does a report showing all instances of whatever RTF memo fields that contain the word(s).It has to be RTF memo field because (if I wish) it goes straight into the book text I'm writing, and also it searches the book's RTF memo field.
.
The trouble is, at present, I then have to manually "eye scan" the resulting report to find the occurrences of the "key searched for" word, nestling/hidden somewhere within sometimes quite large chunks of text. I would love to have the report show the found "key word(s)" highlighted in (say) light blue or whatever colour, so that I can quickly & easily lock on to it visually.

I enter the word I want Access to find, into a form called "formfindword" in a text box called Text0. I click on a command box on this form, to open up the report called "Querywhatsandhowschooseword" based on a query of the same name. The query's "what" field (from the main database) has the criteria

= Like "*" and [forms]![Formfindword]![Text0] & "*"

The query's "how" field criteria (in the "or" line of the query design) is also

= Like "*" & [forms]![Formfindword]![Text0] & "*"

I have tried to use the Conditional Format facility in Report Layout view, without any luck.I think therefore that I will need some VBA code (which is totally foreign to me, unfortunately) to make this simple concept a reality.

Modules & VBA :: Use Text Box Change Event To Determine Form Format

Sep 23, 2013

Had a combobox so the user could choose between two data entry formats. They don't want the combobox, they want the user to enter data into one or the other textbox - and that choice to trigger the format. Two groups of text box - group 1 has a single text box - group 2 has three text box. When the user selects a text box and types the first character into it. This triggers locking out the other group choice and enables the <Validate and Edit> command button.

If the user backs out (deletes) the text in a text box.It basically makes both groups available again and it disables the <Validate and Edit> command button.Basically, if the text box Change event counts a character, it changes the text box Tag to "Bust". Then it calls a common routine that checks both text boxes. The choice won't take place if the textbox gets focus. It changes if a text box has 1 or more character typed in.

Code:
Sub WhosOnFirst()
' two groups of Required field - if one textbox in a group has a character entered first
' that group becomes the Format - enables the <Validate and Accept> button that will take the next setp

Modules & VBA :: Insert Rich Text (HTML Format) From Access To Word 2013

Jul 24, 2014

I'm about to connect my DB to word. So I made a form where the user has to choose what entry to export. The data is inserted in a word file in different bookmarks. But there is one special task to insert the rich text so in this case the html formatted text is displayed like this:

Code:
<html><div>asdf</div></html>

My Text is inserted like this:

Code:
wdApp.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("-Bookmarkname-").Range.Text = Lrs("-ColumnName-")

Lrs is a Recordset.

So how is it possible to display the html code right in the Word doc?

DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel12, "q_calldetails_tmp", "c: emp estoutput.xlsx"

It works fine and produces the output file but when I try and open it with Excel I get an error saying the format is incorrect. If I change the extension to .xls it opens with no problem but I need it to be an Excel 2010 format with correct extension.

Transfer Text Values To Another Form

Apr 12, 2005

I have a main data entry form (frmpartquote). From this form I would like to open a new form (products) to create a sub set of records.

When I open the new form to add products to a main quote I would like to transfer the quotenumber on the quote form to the quotenumberfield in the products form.

I use the following code in the on open event in the product

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
If IsOpen("frmpartquote") Then
partquotenumber.DefaultValue = Forms!FrmPartQuote!partquoteid
End If
End Sub

Now this works fine as long as the field is a number.

However I would like to use tartquotenumber as a text field

any ideas how I will do that....

thanks

Transfer Text Box Data To Subform

Aug 23, 2005

This is a price check form so it doesnt need to be saved it just needs to display the part no info and quantities with price
If i enter a part no into a text box(PN1) on the main form it enters the data into a textbox(PN2) on a subform.
Im using a continuous form on the subform and the master/child link is the Part No text box.
is there a way to lock the first item to the first line and then be able to enter a second item to display on the next line.
I have made the size of the continuous form to one line in my subform but i am only able to enter one part no into the subform because when i setfocus to the PN1 textbox on the main form it clears the first line.

thanks

General :: Transfer-text Defaulting To 8 Decimal Points?

Mar 23, 2014

I have a Table with a Field set to Number, Single, Fixed, 2 Decimal points in which I enter Hours (ie 11.25) then at some point I want to extract those new entries to create a Text file transfer.

I have a Macro which extracts those new entries from the main Table and copies/appends them to a new Table which contains only the new data I need to create the File to upload into a Payroll system (using TransferText option).

It all works well EXCEPT, the File it creates insists on showing 8 decimal points and I just cannot get it to show 2 only.I have tried using a calculated field, setting the secondary Table field to Text.why or where these 8 decimals are coming from.

How To Get Dynamic Location Stored In Path Variable For Transfer Text

Jul 16, 2012

I have used Transfer text cmd to export query to text in MS access. This works fine. path= "D:/test/"DoCmd.TransferText acExportFixed,"Query1",path,False But i need to change the path dyanmically as my wish when i run this query. Like i may save my txt in desktop or C: or D:. I dont want to hard code path as above.

Is there any way to achieve this? If i get the dyanmic location stored in path variable i can achieve it. But i dont know how to achieve this.

Actually i was confused
Docmd.OutputTo acOutputQuery,query1

Above query prompts me for selecting location. But transferText doesn't? why?

As this application is stored on server. If i give a static path, its exporting in Server D:/test/ But i need this to be stored in my local. This can be done only if it prompts box for user to select the location.

However my problem is I want this to be a new instance of Excel that the user will then SaveAs after it is complete. There must be some way to just have it open a new workbook without saving isn't there??
