Modules & VBA :: Using Previous Records To Find Totals

Basically what I have is a form where operators can input certain information about a production process, in particular the kg input which has gone into the 'basket'. However this is divided by customer order number and sometimes more than one customers order is placed into the same basket. This means that the weight of the record is not representative of the weight in the basket, and it is the weight of the basket which determines efficiency in the process.
Each basket is designated a 'Disc Number' which is put in the basket so the parts contained can be identified after the process. What I am trying to do is right a code, whether in my table or form (or somehow creating a query) which compares the disc number of the previous record (or previous 2 or 3) and if they are the same the totals are combined. Each record the user places has a hidden ID which keeps them in order, and the records with the same disc number will always be entered after one another in that sequence.
How would I be able to code something to deal with this and where would I put it?The table in question which contains the records is called Thetatbl and then form it links to is Thetafrm. The weight of each record is contained in Orderkgtxt.

I want subtrack a value on the current record from the previous record and display the result in text box in subform datasheet. This is done during data entry. The calculation works most of the time and randomly it returns the wrong value. I have the code in an after update event after I enter a number. Here is what my code looks like:
sysHopSpacing = Abs([sysHop1] - DLookup("[sysHop1]", "tblSystemConfiguration", "[sysBaseNumber]=Forms![frmTempestCoordination]![frmSubSystem]![sysBaseNumber] - 1 "))
This is how I generate the sysBaseNumber
sysBaseNumber = Nz(DMax("sysBaseNumber", "tblSystemConfiguration", "sysAccountID=" & Forms!frmTempestCoordination!accAccountID), 0) + 1
I am using DMax so I can keep the subform records with the parent form record.
My results are inconsistant:
This is what I want the subform to do when subtracking from the previous record

Instead I get a result that does not make sense like this:

I'm trying to make it a little further with my new call answering database at work.
Basically it consists of a main form that has a button leading to a call answering form for each business that we represent. it also has a text box that displays the number of the caller when the telephone picks up, the correct call answering screen is also popped by the telephone software and a macro whenever the phone is answered.
I've got code in place that automatically puts the date and time in the correct field and also copy the incoming telephone number from the main form into the caller number field on the call answering form.
I'd like to take this automation a little further now and get the form to autopopulate the caller details if that caller has called before (we get a lot of calls from the same people) so i'd like to make the form search the table it's linked to for the incoming phone number and to fill in the name, email, company etc... for the caller according to the previous record.

I have a DB that has lots of queries, I'm trying to find the percentage of trainees that are employed from the number of trainees in my database. For testing purposes, I have three trainees from NCN and two of those trainees are employed.
Now, i made a query to find the total number of NCN-trainees employed which has three tables and seven fields (Fname, Lname, Group[NCN],Employee Status[full-time, part-time,un-employed],employer number, and employer). three records in total
The other query I made is to find the total number NCN-Trainees. This query is based on the same three tables but only has 4 fields (Fname, Lname, group[NCN], and employee status) two records in total
The trouble I'm have is which field to put the totals under.
Any suggestions??

I have a database for work where I have a table of meters and a table of Faults which has a list of all faulty meters at one time. When a fault is repaired, I have a macro which updates the Meter Status to Working, adds a Fault Closed date, appends the record to the Closed table and then deletes it from the Faults table.
The user runs this from a form by clicking the Closed Fault button which activates the macro. I've added Echo on and off to hide that the form is temporarily closed while the Append and Delete queries are run and then it is re-opened again.
My problem is that the Form always opens at the first record in the Faults table. I would like it to open to the record which would have been next after the one that has been moved to the Closed Faults table.
Below is the code I have been using to test the Copying Meter Reference, closing and opening of the form and finding the correct record:-

I have a split db in use by about 20 people. Ocasionally a user opens a record that is already opened by some other user and if changes are made then he gets error 7878; "the data has changed error"
Is it possible to find out which records are actually being used/open/edited in a split db? All tables are related to the main key (CallID on table Contacts).
If it was possible to find out, I could have a label show up in the db record search form telling the user not to open that record.

How do you change this to allow multiple values. I looked up subqueries online and it said to nest a second sub for the where clause....

What i am trying to do is get the previous cash value.... For now, a good indicator is MonthlyDate, as only one date per client will exist. Something can only happen once in a day....IE.

1...........and so on.
There can be multiple dates, however the clientID would not match then.... Does this make sense? There is also a PositionID... This is an autonumber field in its respective table.. I have that so i can use it for domain purposes in the future.

I want whenever I'm updating or adding records to my form, the ID automatically take the value of the previous ID and increment it by 1.
The field type is text (mixed with number) - PM0000000.
I've done some research, what I understand is that I need to:
-do a lookup and
-find the MAX of the number portion.
Name of form - Payment
Name of table - Payment
Name of field - payment_id
I tried these, but to no avail...

I'm looking for some type of custom function that will search a specified column for any keywords listed inside another table.
I can run a query on each keyword individually, however there are 50 and it takes a long time each time I do it. I was hoping to write in a function for that column and it would just select all records that match.
These would all need to be a "like" with an " * " on each end of the word.
With SQL it would look something like:

I just want it to read each of the table values instead of hard coding them and the column name would be the function name so it can be used in any column I specify. I'm just not sure how to incorporate this into a custom function.

Hi
I have a set of membership records which have data input via a simple form. When looking for a particular record I use the standard Find menu item on the whole record set from the Form view, and move through the results using the Find Next button. Is there a way to move back through the records when I have got to the end of the results. eg. there may be numerous members with a surname Smith and I can move the the Smith records by using Find and Find Next but if I have moved past the record that I want is there a way of stepping back through the records?

Hi,
I have a query which finds the averages for 10 diferent fields grouped on a different field.
I would like to produce a chart comparing these 10 vaules in a bar chart, 1 chart for each value in the grouped by field.
To do this I think I need to have the fields as rows, with the grouped field values as fields.
Does anyone know how to do this without writing a module from sctrach, or can I produce the chart I want from the data in the format I already have it in.

Hello everyone.
I use Duplicates Wizard to run about 14 queries which will show all possible combinations of duplicated records in an access table. Can anyone tell me how to add an extra column in reports 2 onwards displaying either a "yes" or a blank cell, being the answer to the question "does this record appear in any previous reports?"

I have a custom command button cmdPreviousRec and cmdNextRec for navigation, but when i click the cmdPreviousRec its not navigating to the records and the cmdNextRec is up to 2nd record only.

I have a continious form with textfields as records. Its about total course hours that are calculated. There is a field in the records that holds and calculates the hourse that one have done and another field that holds the max hours they may follow for one year.
Every record has h different year.
When the amount of hours in the transmission textfield is negative, they can transmit the hours to te next year. Therefore i have to calculate the Max hours per Year + the transmission hours.
So the calculation is not a problem. Though i don't actually know where i can trigger the calculation. I have tried it with a button on the form, but then the user always have to click to see the right amount of hours for the next year. That's not handy. I am looking for a way to automatically calculate the field Max hours per year. Given that the Max hours per year is a bound field, its bound to a table where i stock the Max hours that i have calculated.
I also tried it with the button that's used for inserting new course hours, but then it calculates with the old values instead of the new ones.
How can i trigger the calculation automatically without using a button.

Hey all! This is my first post. Been searching through the net all day trying to find a solution to this problem. Our company produces forms and we sometimes have 60 - 70 people working on a single job. We want to see their hours individually but we would also like to see a grand sum of all their hours. I have a table (tblStats). The user enters his current weight in a field named Wt. There are 2 other fields in the table named WkLoss and TTDLoss. These two fields are intended to be calculated. What I am trying to do is when the user enters his current weekly weight figure into the Wt field, I want the field WkLoss to get the user's weight from the previous record and place the difference in the field WkLoss. Also I would like to keep a total to date in the TTDLoss field.
So far this has been my attempt.

I have a form that has four combo boxes on it that enable the user to select entrants in a golf tournament for tee off times and tee. (I have attached part of this database to this post) It all works fine but after selecting the first player in the first combo box and then selecting the second combo player I would like the player selected previously not to show up. Is this possible or do I have to rethink the way players are selected.

I have a table with the following fields; Row; AnimalID; Weight: Date_Weighed (see attached screenshot example).
I would like to make a query that gives me the percentage weight loss/gain since the last time a particular animal was weighed. For example, animal AAA gained 100% between 2014/01/01 and 2014/02/01. Animal CCC gained 0% between 2014/02/01 and 2014/03/01.
I plan to use this to create a pop-up that informs me if an animal had lost over 15% of its bodyweight since the last time it was weighed, indicating either a loss of body condition, or that a female has given birth.

I have this estimate database for a construction company. In this database I calculate how much will a project cost. It's pretty much complete the only problem that I have is trying to figure out how to update the cost of a trade without affecting older records
Example let's say we have a painter that makes $15/hr in project A,B,C,D,E we decide to give him a raise so project F would have a new amount for painter. The problem with that is that it will affect record A-E

I am using Access 2010 and want to open a new form based on an ID from a previous form. Access makes this very easy to do in the macro builder but I am unable to replicate this in VBA afterwards. The reason behind this is I want it to also run some code to export some info to Outlook. I am only filtering the ID from one form to the next. The ID is from a single table.

Im working on a make-table query that harvest records for calculation that span a "rolling" 13 week history... my problem is that the query will work if it doesn't have to retrieve work weeks that are prior to the new year. For example, right now is the tenth week of this year so i need to grab the previous 9 weeks of history plus 4 weeks of the prior year. then next week when the query is ran we will be in the 11th work week of the year therefor i will need to harvest the past 10 week plus 3 week of the preivious year. the query works if you don't have to span accross calendar years. here is the SQL of the query below the problem area is in underlined in bold type:
