Forms :: Writing Data Into Text Boxes On A Form Using Variable In Name

Jan 29, 2015

I'm trying to write code which writes text into text boxes on a form depending of certain content of other text boxes. The names of the text boxes are all very similar

F.i. R1, R2, R3 ...... R12 if the content of these boxes are empty then the content of the corresponding text boxes VR1, IR1, VR2, IR2, VR3, IR3.......VR12, IR12 should also be empty.

In fact I am trying to write something like this

DO UNTIL i=12
if me.R(i).value = "" then
me.VR(i).value = ""
me.IR(i).value = ""
endif
LOOP

But this isn't working. The solution below works but isn't a very nice one, writing 12 times the same code

if me.R1.value = "" then
me.VR1.value = ""
me.IR1.value = ""
endif

if me.R2.value = "" then
me.VR2.value = ""
me.IR2.value = ""
endif

Modules & VBA :: Loop Through All Text Boxes On Form?

Aug 23, 2013

I have about 25 text boxes that get populated based on a financial transaction; quite often about half of them are empty. i wanted to gray them out if they are emtpy (.enabled = false). I could put a series of IF statements in the vba for each one, but its bulky and time-consuming. I've done for each record in tables and recordsets. Is there a way to do a for each textbox on a form?

Setting Text Box Input To Variable Before Writing To Table

Jan 5, 2005

This is the first time that I have done any major work with forms. After I thought I had finished a problem came up. There are several forms that are use to input information into a table. When the form is opened it grabs an automated number for tracking. The problem is, that if the form is opened and then closed it creates a line of data with all null values.

What I would like to do is have the form open, the user fills out the information, and upon pressing the "save" button, the data will save to the table. I think I need to have each text box write to a variable and then save on the click event. Or I could be completely wrong and need to do something else.

i'm guessing this is something I would learn in Forms 101 if i had ever taken that type of course

Thanks

Modules & VBA :: Writing To Text File With Line Feeds

Jun 22, 2015

I have a function which takes a recordset and writes the contents to a text file. One of the fields in the recordset is a free format text field, the contents of which originate from a text box on a form. Occasionally, a user can hit the 'Enter' key to add a new line (carriage return) to the note within the text box.

The problem is, when the output text file is subsequently imported to Excel, the carriage returns within that text field serve to move the next piece of data to the next row (even though the CR is within the double-quote text-qualifier in the text file)I want line breaks within the text field to be retained within the cell.

One option would very simply be to replace the carriage returns with simple spaces in the write function. I could do that quite easily. However, I would prefer to retain whatever the user has entered into the text box, including line breaks, if at all possible? So if the user broke his free format 'note' into multiple lines (for whatever reason), it would similarly appear as multiple lines in the same cell (and in the same row / record) in the Excel worksheet.

I could replace the carriage return with some obscure character during the write, then switch it back during the Excel import, but that seems a little clunky (plus Murphy's Law dictates that no matter how obscure a character I choose, somebody, at some point, will genuinely use it, and it will get switched out. Which means I'd have to use a non-printing character?could I simply replace the carriage return with a line feed? (Or is it the other way around? I always get carriage returns and line feeds mixed up!)there's a simple way around this but I always get confused as to precisely which ASCII character the 'Enter' key produces when keying into a text box.

Modules & VBA :: Loop In Text Box

I have a form where a textbox has shows the NameNo from the NameNo column in a db. At the moment I am using a dlookup to set the textbox = to the NameNo, but obviously this is only returning the 1st value in the column. How to get this form to automatically display each NameNo, creating a pdf of the form and then moving on tto the next nameno. I have the code to make the pdf working so far, all I need now is to figure out how to use the textbox to loop through all the NameNo's in the table.

Reports :: Writing VB Code To Loop Through A List Box And Create Separate PDFs

Aug 19, 2015

I have a sales report that I generate each week based on a query, which relies on the input from a combo box on a form. This works great - but I have select each salesperson, one at a time and run their reports separately.

I'd like to have some code that will run through each person on the list, generate their report, create the PDF, and email (or save) the file. From my initial research, it appears I will need to utilize a List Box (vs a combo box), so I can select multiple salespersons for the report.

I've found a few examples of code to use...but a little lost on how to implement. I create a new form with a list box that queries the property table for the list. I then added a button to execute the code, and attempted to add this (with my control and reports names substituted). Getting all sorts of errors -- so not sure I'm on the correct path.

I presume that l could then use Dlookup to read the info back at a later stage.

Queries :: Multiple Combo Boxes And Text Boxes On A Search Form

Mar 24, 2014

I'm trying to build an database for aircraft operators. I've got the basic tables structure and relationships but I'm stuck on building an search form to filter records by user input.I've got following controls on my form (unbound):

1. AircraftType (combo box) from tblAircrafts
2. CompanyName (combo box) from tblListOfAircraftsOperators
3. TeailNumber (text box) from tblAircraftOperators
4. AirportNameSearch (combo box) from tblAirports
5. PassengersNumber (text box) from tblAircraftOperators
6. ManufactureYear (text box) from tblAircraftOperators
7. SourceSearch (combo box) from tblInfoSource
8. CountrySearch (combo box) from tblCountry
9. CategorySearch (combo box) from tblAircraftCategory
10. EamilToOperator (text box) from tblAircraftOperators
11. InteriorPhoto (Bound object frame) from tblAircraftOperators
12. ExteriorPhot (bound object frame) from AircraftOperators

I need to enable users to search for aircrafts based on those criteria. As I mentioned I'm new to Access and I don't have any advanced coding skills. I have a query build to perform the search and this is the code I've managed to write so far:

Modules & VBA :: Pasting CSV Data Into Text Box And Copying It To A Series Of Text Boxes

May 13, 2014

I have a form on which there is a series of text box controls relating to different frequencies. At the moment I enter a value in to each of these manually.

However, I would like to have an unbound text box where I can paste in all the values (6 or 8 of them) from excel and then press a button and they would be copied in to the individual boxes.

So far I have my design:

I'm not sure where to start with regard to the code as I don't know how to handle delimited text - is it column delimited in excel?

I imagine some sort of loop, such as a do until will be required but again not sure.

Modules & VBA :: Loop For Different Form Parameters

Aug 18, 2015

I have a sample database (attached) where I have a form called frmVoteHeadsOne. The voteheads that I have are swimming (Swim) and transport (Trans), which both appear for data in a table. On the form, from the combo list, I would wish that if I select swimming, for example, only Mark Tyler's name is returned since he has paid 2000; if I select Transport from the same list, only John clement's name is returned.

My purpose for doing this is because in the actual database, I have 21 different voteheads which I would like to get different results from based on what the user selects from the combo list.

Modules & VBA :: Continuous Form - Loop Through Recordset

Jul 22, 2014

In my database, I have a continuous form with a Name, a Date and a Yes/No field.

When the form opens, I want to look at the date of every record on the form and show a message box if it is before the current day.

The code I have is this;

Private Sub Form_Load()
With Me.RecordsetClone
While Not .EOF
If Me.Date1 < Date Then
MsgBox "" & Me.Person & ""
End If
If Not .EOF Then .MoveNext
Wend
End With
End Sub

However, it loops just the first record the amount of times there is of records (i.e., it will only show the first person's name in the message box, and will show 3 times if there are 3 records).

Modules & VBA :: Survey Form - Loop To Get Information

Sep 5, 2014

We have a survey form we are trying to get some information from, and I think I need a loop to get the information, but there isn't a ton of information that I have found for what I need to do.

I have a six question survey that has a range of answers and a comments section (I didn't write the survey):

1. Excellent, Okay, Poor, Very Good, Very Poor
2. Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree
3. Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree
4. Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree
5. Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree
6. Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Strongly Agree, Strongly Disagree

I have a simple query that will separate out the overall Positive and Negative reviews. The overall "Positive" or "Negative" ranking is manually assigned via a combo box on a form from a value list. Poor comments in the comments field can equate to a negative survey, even if questions 1-6 are neutral or better (good, very good, etc.)

What we would like to do is to poll through the responses to the survey and see how many of question 1-6 are consistently receiving Neutral or lower marks.

In my head, it makes sense to count through all the surveys and get a number of those responses. The response table (tblResponses) is setup with a combo box from a look up table that has the above responses. Actually, there are two lookup tables for this...one for question one, and one for questions two - six.

Modules & VBA :: Loop Through A Query To Show Results On Form

Jun 28, 2015

I basically want to Loop through a query (or if not possible trough a table) and show the results in my form. For each record in the table I am doing additional checks when loading the form and showing that result accordingly. I do not want to do these checks in additional queries - I think it is more efficient doing it in the form directly. Here is the code I have:

Dim dbsSR As DAO.Database
Dim rstValQry As DAO.Recordset
Set dbsSR = CurrentDb
Set rstValQry = dbsSR.OpenRecordset("qry_val_tbl_ind_rec-rev_import")
With rstValQry
While (Not .EOF)

[Code] ....

The Loop seems to work because in debug it is going through it 3 times (the number of records I have in the query), but the result is always the same - it seems the above code is not checking / refreshing based on the individual query records.

Modules & VBA :: Set Tag Property For Unbound Text Boxes

May 14, 2015

I am having a little problem with making an audit trail for a form with some unbound text controls on it.

Since .OldValue won't work on unbound text boxes, google suggested that I put the old value in the control's tag property. This is what I came up with:

Code:
Dim ctl, tbox As Control
Dim strName, strOLD, StrNew, NewTag As String
Dim NextOne As Label
For Each tbox In Me.Controls
If TypeName(tbox) = "TextBox" Then
Select Case tbox.Value

[Code] ....

The first loop is supposed to dynamically assign the tag value, with whatever the textbox value is, however it doesn't. I've asterisked out the line i think may be the issue.

Modules & VBA :: Filter Listbox Via 2 Text Boxes

Jun 6, 2014

I have a listbox where the rowsource is a SQL statement. I didn't know if I should try that or just use a query for what I am doing. The listbox is based on our client table, which is a huge number of people, and is showing 3 out of 5 fields.

I have two text boxes, one for first name and one for last name.

I would like the listbox to filter as I search by either field OR by both. Right now, I have the on change event for each with a SQL statement with a Like '*" & Me.textboxname.text & "*' and then a Me.clientlist.rowsource= at the end. So I can get each text box to filter the listbox individually, but I can't get it to filter with both. I think it is a matter of the focus changing, but I could be wrong.
