Modules & VBA :: Yes / No Action Does Not Halt Macro
Sep 17, 2014
I have inserted a function via a module at the beginning of a Macro using the RunCode action:
Function Msgbox_Yes_No()
Dim Response As Integer
Response = MsgBox(prompt:="Select 'Yes' or 'No'.", Buttons:=vbYesNo)
If Response <> vbYes Then
End If
End Function
However, it doesnt stop the macro from continuing on its way to delete a load of records if the user chooses no.

Why when I set up a macro with a PrintOut action does it always prompt me to "Save As" before it prints? I have a default printer set up in the system, but it still asks to "Save As." It does print after.

I have a Macro setup and SendObject is one of the Actions. It is setup to send an existing report. Is there a way to insert a fieldname from that report into the Subject line of the e-mail that is sent? That would be great, instead of having the same subject line for every e-mail, using the date or something like that. Please let me know. Thanks.

I am building a purchase requisition (PR) database.
The tables are (simplified) as follows:
Table1 - tbl_PRList - contains only 3 fields with one of these fields being the "PR No".
Table2 - tbl_PRData - contains all the item data, also with a field "PR No".
The intent of the "item entry" form is to add items to the latest PR that has been generated.
So, whenever an item that is to be placed on the new PR, you type in the item description, qty, etc in the form and then you press a button that saves this item to the main 'data' table (Table1). What I would like to do is, "on click" of this button, I'd like this record, prior to it moving to the next record, to set the value of the PR No field in Table 1 to be the same as the DLast value of the Table2 table.

One of the users of my application, reports an error when saving a report to pdf by VBA code. She’s using Access 2013, on Windows 8.1.
The error is “error 2501 output to action was cancelled with access vb macro”
The VBA code is
StrReport = “RepInvoice”
StrDocumentName = “C:UsersMaryDocumentsAccessInvoice.pdf”
DoCmd.OpenReport StrReport, acViewPreview
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, "PDFFormat(*.pdf)", StrDocumentName, False
DoCmd.Close acReport, StrReport, acSaveNo
This error occurs at the OutputTo line. This code is part of an user form with a button “save as PDF”.
When this code is run, the report is visible as an example (as meant to be) on the screen. The code stops at the OutputTo line.
When I use
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, StrReport, acFormatPDF, StrDocumentName,, False
the problem still exists.
I tried to save the report manually by Preview > Export > PDF. The preview is OK, saving as PDF results in the same error 2501. This may lead to the conclusion that this problem is not caused by the VBA code.
I verified whether user write rights are OK, and whether a default printer is available. Both are OK. The report consists of 1 page.
When this very same application is used with Access 2010, everything functions as expected.

Is there a way to increase the maximum characters allowed in an expression of a macro setvalue action ?
I have an expression in a macro setvalue action that adds multiple form textbox values. I need to change the form name from "RATING ENGINE 2" to "E RATING ENGINE 2". When I do this, I exceed the maximum characters allowed in the expression. Is there a way I can rename "RATING ENGINE 2" without this problem. The expression is as follows:
[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 6]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 7]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 8]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 9]+[Forms]![RATING ENGINE 2]![Excess Liab Premium 10]

Hi there,
My colleague has a database on her desktop. She inputs data and saves the data to the table which currently has about 3000 records. When she is working on the form, once in a while the form field such as date field or comments field halts from a few seconds to a few minutes. My colleague can just continue typing in, but what she typed in were not shown on the screen. After some time, the field becomes active again and what just typed in shows up on the screen. There is no data loss. My colleague is very angry about this check-in/check-out problem and I don't have much experience and knowledge of Access. Currently she is using office 2003 and the database was written in about year 2000. Would you please let me know what cause this problem? Thanks.

I have a form that opens when you initially open the MS Access file...
This first form posts session and user ID data to a sessions table, then closes itself and opens an end user form (i.e. the main form in the application)
It's work just fine for many weeks, up until a few minutes ago. Now, when I open the MS Access file I get this error message:
Run-time error '2501':
The OpenForm action was canceled.
When I choose "debug" from the error message, it's showing me that the error happens here:
Code:
Public Sub CloseMeAndOpenMain(frmMe As Form)
DoCmd.Close acForm, frmMe.Name
DoCmd.OpenForm "0100_0000_STRAT_AND_REQ_ASSEMBLY_ECs_LISTING"
End Sub
The thing is, I can then walk through the code with no issues (i.e. when I hit F8, it runs...)
Also when I open the first "sessions" form from inside MS Access (as opposed the file open feature) it runs just fine and opens the main end user file without any issue.
I only get the error when I initially open the first form from the file...

I have a button on-click action of:
Code:
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "Bladereport", "PDFFormat(*.pdf)", , True, "", , acExportQualityPrint
It works perfectly with the box appearing to choose the directory and file name, having done this it then outputs perfectly.
However if you choose cancel at the file and directory selector box it crashes:
Run-time error '2501':
The OutputTo action was cancelled.

I've got a continuous form, with a button (cmd1) on each record. Each record has a unique primary key, RecordID. cmd1 is clicked to open a form (frm1) based on the RecordID using the following code:
Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm1", , , "RecordID = " & Me.RecordID
I want frm1 to open, ONLY when a user clicks on cmd1 while it's already in focus ON that specific record.

Using Access 2007:
how to get macro properties using vba? I've attempted something similar to the below to try and divine macro properties:
Code:
Sub MacroDiscovery()
Dim mcr As AccessObject
Dim prop As AccessObjectProperty
For Each mcr In CurrentProject.AllMacros
Debug.Print mcr.Name
For Each prop In mcr.Properties
Debug.Print prop.Name
Debug.Print prop.Value
Next
Next
End Sub
Nothing comes up except the macro names. In my database, I have an AutoExec macro that I have manually added a description to; "This macro auto-executes when the database is opened by virtue of it's name." I can view the description by right-clicking on the macro and choosing 'Object Properties'.
Background:I am attempting to make a universal Access Database documenter for the many, many homemade databases on our network. I'm only interested in certain pieces of information and I would like to make a report to view the information how I want to view it. Thus, I don't care for the built-in documenter--I want to do it my way.

I'm working in 2003 (still) and have a macro to print the selected form the user has on their screen. I need this same macro to also print a PDF in a particular network folder or just exit if the PDF doesn't exist. I've tried RunSQL with "PrintDoc [Link2PDF]" as the argument. I've tried RunApp with "Acro Rd32.exe /t [Link2PDF]" as the argument but neither one works. The RunApp line will open the Adobe reader but nothing more.

I would like to have a macro run at a set time each day. I hoped to use .ontime but apparently that doesn't exist in access.
The macro must run at 10:00am each day, the db will be open from 8:30am until 16:30pm so no problem from that point of view +/- a few mins when the staff arrive.

I have an open form with buttons to open other forms and use an If statement to position them an example is below.
Code:
Private Sub Command31_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "Opener", acNormal
If Me.Frame54 = 1 Then
DoCmd.MoveSize 2500, 1000
ElseIf Me.Frame54 = 2 Then
DoCmd.MoveSize 25500, 1000
End If
End Sub
This works perfectly, however I need to put similar code as a line in a macro and cannot seem to link it.
Code:
Public Function totalmove()
If Forms.Scan_Data.Frame54 = 1 Then
DoCmd.MoveSize 2500, 1000
ElseIf Forms.Scan_Data.Frame54 = 2 Then
DoCmd.MoveSize 24000, 1000
End If
End Function
I get Error 438 object doesn't support this property or method...
