USING ACCESS 2010..My user has reported that his caps and num locks gets switched off when entering a particular form and after testing he's right!!
I've googled this and it seems that sendkeys is/could be the culprit.I do have sendkeys in the code so how do I get around it other than not use sendkeys? Can I switch num lock on in VBA?
I have a database that is used in a retail environment. I cant figure out what causes the locks of data.
I have an invoice (form) that it is filled out at point of sale(customer table). The middle section of the invoice (subform) gets the data from an inventory table.
The issue that i have is that often the subform locks up and does not allow the user to enter new data or make changes? It generally happens when they disconnect from the remote server, or loose connectivity???.
We use remote servers, using remote desktop connections.
The way i fix it is I take a backup database and move the tables out of the locked database into the new one. I just cant figure out what to do about this....>??
When you open an invoice at point of sale if the record is locked No line shows up on the subform to fill in. See image below. When its fine the line will appear to take in entries.
I am having a few issues with my module code in Access 2002. for some reason every time I write some code Access is automatically making the first letter a capital so for instance [Our Ref] should be [Our ref] but it simply will not let me do it!
I've got this form called mainmenu and inside this form I've got this code to prevent it from being closed.
Code: Private Sub Form_Unload(Cancel As Integer) Cancel = True End Sub
Now then, when I try to switch to design view in this form it doesn't let me because of this code. Is there anyway to tweak this code so that I can get into design view without having to keep disabling it?
How can I convert the lower case data into upper case data automatically while entering data without using Ucase() function, in each and every textboxs or other objects in the forms ..
I have a form with text fields where I am entering customer last names and first names in different fields. Does anyone know how to return UPPER CASE letters automatically?
I need to make all my text in all my fields Caps. The users want type the text in the field and have it be caps even if they don't have the caps lock on. Is there an easy way to do this? Any help would be great!
My client wants a company name that appears on multiple forms and reports to show as font name Garamond which is fine... however, he also want the font to appear as "Small caps". In Word and Outlook, under the Font submenu, I can check Small caps and get what he wants... lower case letters are shown as Small capital letters. Is there a way I can make the same settings on labels in Access without installing a new font on each workstation that runs the database.
I'm trying to run a very simple update query on a table that has around 200,000 rows. It is only updating one field with the month based on a date using the Month() function.
It keeps saying File sharinglock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry.
Any idea's on how to do this? The online help within Access is pretty vague.....
I'm also surprised this has happened as I've run update queries on tables with several million rows in before and never had this problem. I have compacted and repaired the database and moved from our server onto the hard drive of my laptop where there is more than enough disk space and with 2Gb ram there should be enough RAM as well.
I have a combo with the LimitToList set to yes so I can add new data to the underlying tbl. This works fine with one exception. When I enter the data I occasionally want to enter it in all Capitals but when I select Ok to add it to the tbl the first letter is a capital & all others change to small caps. I'm a little rusty on Access at the moment so I need a prompt pointing me to what I need to change to fix my problem. I'm thinking this is a formatting problem? :(
My attendance dB has some last name in lower case and others in all caps base on user input. Is there anyway to make it consistent? Also, please there will be about 250 users scrolling through the name column for attendance. What would you recommend for the most user friendly way to display names? How to create a form that would perhaps allow a button for all last name like "A- C" member name
I have a table with CODE number as text. (1234-11-3456). I also have this field in a subform. How do I get the field to start at left, and also make all CAPS. Also where do I do the input mask. In the Table or the Form where it is a subform?
I've developed a ASP.NET website which connects to a secured access database (user/pwd combos with an .mdw file) and allows users to enter data into the database. After the "due date" the system is locked and the database is transferred to a local computer via FTP for processing. Using a VB program and MS Access Reports, the data is printed out in a convenient format and distributed.
Recently, the more users that use my system the more frequently I've encountered problems with connecting to the database. I've been told that access databases are not designed to be used in a multiuser environment and that I should use MS SQL or mySQL instead.
My users report occasional errors and the debug information on the error page shows an 'unspecified error' prompted by a OLEDBConnection object's open method. Secondly, occasionally in the FTP site I see .ldb locking files with 10-20 locks on the database and the .mdw file held by the web application. I'm using a utility class that connects to the db in the constructor and closes the connection in its finalize method.
Code:Protected oConnection as OleDbConnectionProtected Sub Initialize() sConnString as String sConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0....the rest of the connection string with data source and passwords oConnection = New OleDbConnection(sConnString) oConnection.Open()End SubProtected Overrides Sub Finalize()oConnection.Dispose()End Sub
First, is there something wrong with this code? Is it not being run at the initialization and finalization of each page load? Secondly, is there any way to avoid db connection errors without moving to ms sql?
I have a multi user database that has record locking turned on at the form level. If one user is in that form making changes it locks that record so no other user can make changes. When another user tries to edit the same record they are only notified after they hit save. Can you have them be warned that this record is locked before they waste time entering data?
We are developing an Access 2010 database that is to be served using MS Server. Currently we have Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 64bit with Server Manager Version: 6.1.7601.17514 SP1 on a cumputer with 8GB RAM and an Intel Celeron G550 2.6GHz processor. All software is up to date with MS updates.
We are having a problem with dropdown lists that have too many items to show in the drop-down window so there is a scroll bar. If I click on the down arrow and open the drop down list, and then click on the scroll bar, the access window locks up. If I only click on a choice in the drop-down, but not the scroll bar, it works fine and does not lock up. Once access is locked up, I can click on another window on the desktop and then Access becomes active again. This does not happen on windows 7.
I have a form that uses a multi select combo boxes. When more than one person is in the database, if a user is updating any of the multi select combo boxes, it locks out other users from making changes to those fields on different records. Looking for solution so that every user in the database can make changes to those multi select fields on their own specific records?
how do i make a command button on a bound form change the source object of a subform so that the original subfrm closes and another sub form loads in its place? Basically I want to toggle between subfrms.
You know how there's MoveFirst, MoveLast, MoveNext, and MovePrevious to go to a recordset and make changes? Well, I just want to make changes to one recordset, and that would be the one I would be currently working on. That way I don't have to run the program for every single record everytime I want to modify one thing for one record. Is there something like a MoveCurrentRecord? Thanks =)
I'm having trouble swicthing the data type of my numbers. When I am importing the table from another database it enters as a text. When I then go to table design and try to switch it to number, it removes the decimals and switches the value to something ALOT higher.how to fix this so that it just enters as a number with the same value?
I am very good at excel and can program macros. I am being asked to build something in access for my company, or at least manage a build. So here is my question... If we build it without both a front and back end, is it easier to take what you have and switch it to a front and back end? Also, when and why is it better?
Here's a little design problem, all of my VB script works fine, it's just a design problem:
Toggle Button (onClick) { if pressed in, unlock protected field, pass focus to protected field else (if not pressed in), lock protected field }
Protected Field (lostFocus){ When Focus is lost, protect field then reset toggle button } See, there's no way that I know of for Access to tell what field has focus at any given moment. It lies inert until an event fires off then it responds. You can't wake Access up and tell it to go do something. So, Protected Field has to lock itself when it loses focus.
Here's the problem. If a user unlocks the field but then decides not to make a change and clicks the toggle again to lock the field, first Access fires the script to protect the field (locking it), then it resets the toggle button, then it registers the toggle button click which unlocks the field. See the problem? If the user changes their mind about changing the field and then tries to lock the field, it ends up unlocked. I need something that will work whether the user is good about it or whether the user is in a rush and forgets about it.
Right slightly complicated (in my eyes) and I have not found anything in previous threads to help but here goes:
I have a main form (FRM_SUMMARYREVIEW) that has an unbound subform field on it (subfrmmaster).
When FRM_SUMMARYREVIEW is first opened subfrmmaster has its sourceobject set to a form called FRM_OPENSUMMARY.
This subform lists all my open escalations, in a continuous forms format and has a field in it called "escalationid" and when I click this field "subfrmmaster" changes it's sourceobject to another form called FRM_MAINDATA and should display the data relevant to the escalationid I have just selected.
In the past I used to click on "escalationid" and it opened up FRM_MAINDATA as a new form, using the following code:
However how can I get the subfrmmaster sourceobject to change and display the relevant escalation detail ?
My other option is to have two subforms on the main form, one with "FRM_OPENSUMMARY" the other with "FRM_MAINDATA", as "FRM_OPENSUMMARY" has a list of escalations displayed, in a continuous forms format could I set it so as I arrow down the list, the data in FRM_MAINDATA displays the highlighted escalation in "FRM_OPENSUMMARY".
