Modules & VBA :: Dblclick Event Not Firing Immediately From Listbox
Jul 25, 2014
I have an issue with the dblclick event not firing immediately from my listbox. It does eventually fire if i mash the mouse button for long enough but obviously that is not an acceptable solution. The listbox also has an afterupdate event which is what fires when i double click.
I have also tried calling the code from an onclick command button which works fine but if i try and call that from the dblclick event it does not.
I have used the dblclick event in other projects with afterupdate and it has worked without problem.
Code:
Private Sub lstFileList_AfterUpdate()
strPDF = Me.lstFileList.Column(0)
Me.PDFViewer.LoadFile (strPDF)
Dim fso As New FileSystemObject
strFileName = fso.GetFileName(strPDF)
We use our CRM for entering client orders, which is done through our 'OrderEntry' form. On that form we have a subform that we use to enter order lines - as we have a range of products on offer, an order can be made up of one product or anything up to 100.We have an 'amount' textbox on the subform, that the users enter the cost of each line, and as they add more lines the total cost of the order is calculated using a textbox in the subform Footer, with the ControlSource set to =Sum([amount]).
On the main form, we have a Net textbox, that the user will add in the total cost of the order once they've added all the order lines, and providing the =Sum([amount]) textbox on the subform matches the figure in the Net textbox, a button to Proceed the order and go on to the next step appears.
The intermittent problem I have, is that the OnCurrent event I use to show the Proceed button does not seem to fire on its own - but when I stop the code and step through it, it will show the Proceed button without any problems. Here's the code:
(the Proceed button is referred to a 'Command80')
Code: Dim OS As String Dim UT As String OS = OrderStatus UT = fGetUserType
[code]....
I've made the part that refers to the Proceed button bold, but thought I'd add in the whole OnCurrent event in case there was anything in there that was blocking it.
I added in the MsgBox code at the bottom to make sure the OnCurrent was firing, and that works fine.I've searched through the rest of the code, and there's nothing else in there that references the Visible property of the button.I've been through the decompile process detailed here, and also been through this similar thread with a fine toothcomb and this still won't work.
I've saved the form out as a textfile and then imported it back in, both through the immediate window, and short of importing everything in to a new DB and starting again
I'm developing in Access 2007 and created a runtime version.
When the user clicks the X to close the runtime application, the main form's Load event fires. Any clues as to why this might be? Some of the code is based on other forms that do close, so of course errors start flying. Note, this is only in the runtime version; the accdb file works just fine.
My current workaround is to put the offending code into the forms On Current event, which I'm able to do in this context.
Is it wrong to think that a forms On_Load event shouldn't be firing when the application is closing?
Hi I have placed a ListView on the form. I have written a DblClick event for the ListView. The application is a multi-user one. The issue is that the DblClick event was working for few days and now it does not work for any of them but it is working only in my system.
Is it related to reference ? I developed the tool on my system and placed in a shared folder from which everybody uses. Do I need to give reference in all the system ? Please help. I am stuck with this problem.
I have an "After Update" event procedure for a field on a form that calls a VBA sub. When I use a different VBA sub to input a value in the above mentioned field, the "After Update" event does not occur, even thought the data in the field has been changed. (Of course if I manually enter the data, the field "After Update" event works.)
Is there a flag or condition that needs to be set in my VBA sub to let the field realize that it has been changed? Or possible a way to call the fields AfterUpdate Sub?
I tried having a my sub call the AfterUpdate sub to see what would happen, but didn't get it to work. I got a bunch of error and didn't feel like this was really the way to go.
I also could just duplicate all the code in the AfterUpdate sub for the field, but we all know that that is not a good idea.
I have 2 forms: frmExcEntry and frmItemSearch. frmExcEntry is a data entry form where the associate enters PO#, Item#, Qty, etc. frmItemSearch is a popup form that is used to narrow the search of the Item# from frmExcEntry. Right now, when the associate types the Item# (either PartNo or FactNo)in the txtItemNo control on frmExcEntry, frmItemSearch opens (frmExcEntry remains open) with all potential item #'s associated with the text entered in [txtItemNo]...(there could be multiple FactNo in our inventory system but PartNo is unique and the bound field for the control). frmItemSearch uses an unbound textbox (txtSearch) that populates with the text from frmExcEntry on txtSearch_GotFocus and queries a listbox with the list of possible PartNo to select. I want the associate to be able to double-click the accurate PartNo from the list box which will then update the value initially typed in txtItemNo and copy the PartNo over txtItemNo in the currently open frmExcEntry.
I have structured a subform as a datasheet to allow users to copy and paste from Excel into the database. Datasheet has numerous fields and 18 rows. I have set up recalculations of other data in the AfterUpdate event of the fields in the datasheet. This works perfectly until the user copies multiple rows from Excel and pastes them (one column at a time) into the datasheet. Is there an event I can capture when the user copies and pastes a column? Muchas-Grasias for any assistance.
On a form I have a pair of controls, Price and PriceInUSD. If the user enters a new value into the Price field, then its AfterUpdate event fires, which looks up the relevant exchange rate and updates the PriceInUSD control accordingly. That all works fine.
Now in some circumstances (if a checkbox elsewhere on the form is checked), I generate a modal dialog box asking the user to confirm that the Price value is correct, or enter a new value.
That modal dialogue box's Enter button's On Click event then updates the Price control before closing the dialog. That bit works fine, too - but I had thought that this update of the Price control would fire its AfterUpdate event - but it doesn't.
So, my basic question is : do Control events only fire in response to user input, and not to programmed changes ?
I have to maintain an Access form which contain a linked subform (using Master and Child fields).
Basically, in the main form (Form1), the user choose a value in a combobox and the subform (Form2) is automatically updated.
My issue is that I have a BeforeUpdate event on one field of my subform which is preventing to update the field (Cancel=true) when it does not meet the criteria. The alert msgbox should appear once if there is any error in the field but the BeforeUpdate event is always fired 3 times for unknown reason.
What I don't understand is that if I open the subform (Form2) as a main form or if i remove the child/master link fields in the subform property sheet, it is working as expected with the BeforeUpdate event being fired only once.
I am trying to write a code that will execute at the change even of the combobox/Listbox and when a character is typed in it then all the data from "DocumentType" field whose first character matches with the first character typed in Combo/Listbox will be stored in it.
The following code doesn't work:
Private Sub ComboBox4_Change() Dim strText, strFind As String strText = Me.ComboBox4.Text If Len(Trim(strText)) > 0 Then strFind = "BarcodeRef like '" & strText & "*'" End If
Hello im new to this forum and I just recently became involved with access so please bear with me and my many questions. I work for a mining company in Canada and we have training events. These records must be kept showing who attended and what was covered.
I have used the event template and contact template and merged them into one to I have a listing of all employees and their personal information. I have another table with events that say what was taught or shown and so forth. I am trying to figure out the best way to have them register for these events.
Right now I have right now a registration form that has the employeeID and the eventID. The problem is I would like to be able to use a list view and just select the people who attended and with the press of a button have all the registrations be completed dynamically. As right now for each person I have to create a new entry. Hope I was not too confusing, and thanks for the time. Patrick
Is it possible to load the data in input from by double clicking on data from list box ?
I have single form on which both input form and read-only form is present. as i used visible property to display or not accordingly.
User enters the data from input form. (It has been done)
User go onto read only form where combo box and list box. from drop down values load into list-box. (It has been done)
Now double click on any record then it should re-directed on input form with loading the data in editable mode for updation purpose. ???? (How this step will be done) ?
I would like to select a record on an already open form called "form_candidates" using a search facility but can't get it to work.
In "form_candidates" the data settings are set to "yes" (filters/edits/deletions/additions) and data entry is set to "no". On opening, the form is set to go to a new record.
In this form I have a button that opens a record search form so both forms are now open. I enter the first few letters of the surname into a text box, press a button and the listbox is populated.
In the doubleclick event of the list box I have the following code:
Dim CandID As Integer CandID = Me.List4.Column(0) DoCmd.OpenForm "form_candidates", acNormal, , "forms![form_candidates]![Cand_ID]=" & CandID
So I double click on the record, the candidate form is being filtered but the record isn't being shown.
I have a main form. It's only contents is an unbound combobox, and it's used to filter down (via a query) the details in it's sub form (I'm using it to load different account information, rather then type it in all the time).Anyway, I also have another form (Dashboard, or mainmenu) which summarises activity within Each account and is displayed via a datasheet.
What I'm trying to do is double click the accountname (on the main menu)which will then open up the necessary form and load the value from the datsheet accountname, in to the newly opened forms cbo, where I can apply the form to requery on load.I'm going to have to DIM the value, and docmd.openform etc...
I am looking for a way to display a windows login name when the user double clicks on a text box. This is for a digital signature on a form that I don't want people having access to just type in some elses name.
I am looking for a way to use the dblClick function to move the current row of a list box to another. The idea is that users can look through data and pick certain rows to be printed in a report. I am not sure how to go about doing this and am not sure if it is the best way. The second listbox is so the user can review their selections before printing a report.
I have an equipment database with a "main menu" page. There is a button to add vendor. When this button is activated and vendor name is inserted/saved/closed, the newly created vendor isn't immediately available in another form. I have to close out of the database and open it back up before it's visible. What can I do to make the new record immediately available to other forms?
I have a sales call tracking program.a list of available numbers are displayed to multiple users running the a user clicks on a record to get a call screen displayed with client info they then call the client and try for a sale.
the problem exists that two users can click on the same list record and open up the same call screen - they then both try to call the customer manually on the phone. one agent will get through the other will get a busy signal and record the call as a Busy Call. When the user with the customer is done he tries to record a Sale or No Sale and is met with an error message saying the record has been modified and they cannot save changes!!
I need a way to get access to immediately lock the record when it is clicked so only one person can open the call details screen? What is the best way to lock the records?
I have a split, shared database in which the Before and AfterUpdate events on my forms are not working at all. I tried setting a breakpoint to verify this and, sure enough, they are not firing.
Does anyone have any clue as to why this may be occurring?
Thanks so much for the help. I have tried searching the forum with no luck.
I have a problem with a total on my main form (calculated from a subform) not updating immediately. The updated total only displays correctly after I’ve navigated to another record and then back again. I would like the totals to update immediately after I’ve entered the new data. Can anyone help? Here are the specifics…
My main form has a subform which displays a dynaset of records from a query. I’ve set up this subform so that I can enter a new record, which is then written back to the record source for the query. This is accomplished via a combo box from which the user selects a product, and an AfterUpdate event returns the price of that product to the TotalPrice control on the subform. In the footer of this subform is a calculated control (called AdExpenseSubTotal), which calculates the sum of the TotalPrice field from the query. The footer of this form is hidden, and I’ve set up a control on the main (TotalSpent) form which displays the value of the subform control AdExpenseSubTotal. This total seems to update immediately whenever I tab off the relevant field in the subform – so far so good, no problems here.
Now here’s where it gets tricky. My main form has another subform which is hidden. This subform returns a dynaset of records from another query which has the same record source as the query on the first subform. Like the first subform, this subform also has a hidden calculated control with an aggregate function (Sum), and a calculated control (VendorSpent) on the main form to display its value.
As I said before, when a enter a new record in the first (displayed) subform (via the combo box) and tab off it, the TotalSpent control on the main form updates immediately, but the VendorSpent control doesn’t. Obviously the new record I’ve added doesn’t immediately show up in the query dynaset of the second (hidden) subform from which the VendorSpent control on the main form gets its value. The VendorSpent control only displays the updated total when I navigate to the next record, and then navigate back again.
Is there some Event Procedure I need to add to the AfterUpdate property of the combo box on the first subform which immediately forces the second (hidden) subform to requery? I probably haven’t explained myself very clearly, but I can provide a copy of the file (it’s only 184 Kb) if that helps.
I am having a problem running Access 2007 runtime on a workstation. I have set up the 2007 database (.accdb) on our server and am able to connect to it and open it from the pc that has Access 2007 full version installed and it works fine.
I also installed Access 2007 runtime on another PC and was able to open the database using the runtime version just fine.
However, on this other PC, I installed the runtime version, and when I use the command line (msaccess.exe /runtime \serverdirectorydatabase.accdb) to open the database in runtime mode, Access opens for a split second and then closes immediately.
When I just run msaccess.exe, it opens the runtime version and says that I have not specified a database, as expected. So, I am wondering why it is not opening the database when i DO specifiy the database.
If i specify an incorrect directory for the database, it opens the runtime version and a dialog appears telling me that a database was not found, and upon clicking OK, the program closes.
I can say, that when I run it off the computer that works through the runtime version, I get a security warning telling me that there are potentially unsafe elements in the database, but i just have to click OPEN and it still opens it fine.
Perhaps the non-working PC is denying it access due to these security issues?
I can't seem to figure this out, and any help is appreciated.
Access database 2007: I have a database with some forms init but when i type my username and password to open the main menu to insert data the form shows 1 second and closes the whole database. I don't know whether the problem is the VB code or the microsoft.
I have a database created in Access 2003 about six years ago. I’m the sole user of the Application, which I use to keep track of my personal assignments and to quickly access other resources. A search form was added and tweaked over time until it contained the features I desired. The search form uses a subform to display a list of records, with the ability to click a record‘s "Edit" field to open and update that record.
In about March 2014 we upgraded from Office 2003 using Windows XP to Office 2010 using Windows 7. All users on other Applications that I’d designed and support experienced missing Reference issues, but those were resolved rather quickly. I'd been off work intermittently for about six weeks between April and July and gradually started noticing other issues with my personal assignments tracker that I did not immediately associate with the upgrade. Early on, I noticed that I could no longer delete or rename database objects on several of the databases that I'd designed and support. Eventually, I also noticed that I was unable to create new records and received SaveRecord error messages associated with the subform. I'd encountered SaveRecord issues before and went through previous steps to resolve, but to no avail. Eventually, I came to the conclusion, right or wrong, that all of my recent issues were associated with the upgrade.
I found through online research that my loss of ability to delete or rename Objects was possibly due to the loss of Object Owership and Permissions, which was associated with my Security Workgroup. I confirmed that Ownerships and Permissions had been lost and was unwilling to recreate the database, just yet. No user of other Applications that I support reported any problem creating new records.
I know now that new Access doesn’t have the Security menu item that allows Workgroup creation and joining. After months of online research and trial and error, I was directed to Microsoft Knowledgebase Article 918583, which provided VBA code that allowed me to Run the Workgroup Administrator to rejoin my previously established Workgroup.
After rejoining my Workgroup, everything seemed to return to normal. I could delete and rename records and was able to create new records. After a few days, I noticed that new records were not being displayed in the search form right away. I confirmed that the records were being added to the main table, but still not available in the search form, queries, or reports until after an additional record had been added. In other words, for example, in order to view record 1, a record 2 would have to be added. In order to view record 2, a record 3 would have to be added, and so on. This makes it very tedious to enter new assignments.
I believe the present issue is greater than my search form, because the newest record is not only not available in the search form, but not available in any other form, query, or report. I have no clue where to start.
I am building a Inventory Management Application for Tyre Shop. I have SaleMainTbl and SaleDetailTbl both used for preparing daily sale summary. I have Mainform based on SaleMainTbl with TxnDate and Total Amount (Sale) and the TxnDate is in one to many relation with SaleDetailTbl. FormSaleDetail is multiple row(continuous) form that makes billwise summary of each day having -TxnDate--BillNo--ItemSold--Company--Qunatity--Rate--Amount fields. I have inserted this form in FormSaleMainTbl.
So FormSaleMainTbl is Main form and FormSaleDetail is subform. TxnDate in FormSaleDetailTbl is automatically taken from SaleMainForm. I have further added text boxes in Main Form to show company wise sale for each day for which there is a query build one for each company that takes the currently loaded date from FormSaleDetail and calculates the Sale (Sum) of each brand (Company) of Tyres. All these objects are working very fine. However I have to close the MainForm and reopen it for result of query to appear in the appropriate text box in Main form.
Is there way to do this as soon as record is entered or at least at the end of completing the entry of each days sale transactions without closing the form. So the gist of the problem is realtime display of query result in text box on a form or updating the form screen immediately on updating any record or at the most after completing the updating of form but without having to close the form.
