The file was converted from excel. It is in Datasheet view. I select the first column and clip on the Ascending choice under the Home Tab. It works but leaves a large gab of blank rows. I go to the Database Tools tab and check Compact and Repair Database. The file returns to the original unorganized list.

i have a table calle "tstaff" and one of the fields in it is named "picture" which hold a link to the picture of the staff membe, the picture is stored on my pc, not in the database.
so in the picture field would be something like this...
Picture c:documents and settingsall usersdocumentsmy picturessample pictureslue hills.jpg
what i am trying to do now is to create a report that displays all the patients data, including the actual picture that the link refers to...
What I am trying to do is have a form on an event display a set of records and pictures that are attributed to that record. A nice generic example of this is I have a query run to find all employees with the last name "smith". I want the form to display all the employee records with the last name smith and look up the picture file and assign it to an image box on the form. I have tried many different variations of code and queries and have not been able to get it to work. Can anyone suggest a more direct path than the hit or miss that I have been using? Really it seems to be multiple records that are the problem. I have many pictures coming up on the form based on a single response query.
here is a good example of changing a picture file on the fly in a form.
Public proff Public filestring As String Public picname As String Public proffpic As String Public fullfilename As String Public colore
I've got a report/invoice that i want to print out with a simple header picture for the company. For reasons i cannot fathom the picture will not print. Print preview, Report view, print as PDF, XPS and even copy to a word doc all display the picture, but when i send it to any printer the header does not show.I have checked every setting i can find.
Visible = Yes Display when = Always deleted, save and closed, re-inputted, still nothing. compact and repair after delete re-input after compact, still nothing. Added the file to local directory, still not showing
I can even add a border around the picture which it will print but not the image itself.I've tried .png .jpg and .jpeg file types (Same image its just a logo).
Best way to display "notes: field that gets updated/added to multiple times, in a form. (Access 2007)
I've got a DB to track information about product changes. Each month we have a meeting and discuss problem products. I'm concerned with a notes/comments section. Currently it is a memo field in the source table that can be added to, so the notes are cumulative. But we want to auto-add a date to each new entry (in case the person inputting the data forgets, and so that notes can be sorted by order on a report).
There may be many comments on a certain product or there may be none. Sometimes the note may be very long, other notes on the same product may be very short. I created a new table with a one-to-many relationship to case ID (to link it to the main form), auto-populate a date field, and field for notes in order to link multiple notes to each case (and of course an autonumber PK).
I can put the subform in the original form, but then the note field will be the same size for every note, though notes are not all uniform in size/length, and it ends up taking up a LOT of room on the main form. So I created a button to click to open the subform, but it brings up all records for all cases, not just the currently selected case. Again, have the problem of one uniform field size for all notes, regardless of size/length.
Then I considered a report to view past history (field size can shrink or grow as needed) then a button on the report that opens a form for data entry/entry of new note. But again the report displays all records for all cases, not just the currently selected case.
We are using access 97 and I have a linked table to sql 2000. A couple of weeks ago, our sql server crashed and we had to completely rebuild it / restore all of the data. Ever since then, only one of our linked sql tables in access is acting up. Whenever we go to edit a line (sometimes, not always), we get an error which states the following:
This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made. Copying the changes to the clipboard will let you look at the values the other user entered, and then paste your changes back in if you decide to make changes.
Options are Save Record (greyed out), Copy to Clipboard, and Drop Changes.
About all I have tried is re-linking the table...any other ideas?
I am trying to get a form to display certain information based on the data in another box. I have to input some exam results and want to assign a level to them. So, if they score < 13, the result would read "Below Entry 3" if between 13 and 21 "Entry 3" etc If this was a spreadsheet I would use an if function, but I am not sure that I can do this here
I know it's a long shot, but, in A2010 I'm trying to convert a series of Word doc files into pdf, BUT then assemble them into one large PDF. It's for a sort of archiving system.
way I can do this, preferably just using the PDF capabilities within Access and without purchasing any Adobe Pro software.
I need to fill in 200000 records counting from 100000,100001,100002.... and so forth, just one column (and maybe the auto numbering).
make a new DB with these columns: ID, counter set counter to 100000 where ID=1 (in the first record) move to next record (or make a new record) if ID < 300000 then set counter = 1+ (the value of counter in the previous record) continue until ID=300000
I want to display a picture (or pictures) from Imagelist in the picturebox (KIBES_picture).But I am getting a type mismatch error in the last line. What am I doing wrong?
Code: Public Sub load_picture() Dim iml As ImageList Set iml = New ImageList iml.ListImages.Add , , LoadPicture("K:Kapa-Planung ElektrikKibes_DatabaseAufbausystemme2_Innenbeleuchtung .00000-0002_Treppebeleuchtung_ueber_2 Schalters_087A00ekran_edycja.jpg") [Forms]![Search]![KIBES_picture].Picture = iml.ListImages(1)
Besides, when I have Listimage(0) I am getting an other error: Index out of bounds. Strange, because the index should start from zero?
Dim fDialog As Object Set fDialog = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker) Dim varFile As Variant Set Cn = New ADODB.Connection Cn.Open "Provider=SQLOLEDB;data Source=.;" & _ [Code] ....
But I have a problem when my database more than 2000 record. I think my problem in
rs.Open "Select * from Table_2", Cn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic
I am attempting to create a metrics analysis table from another table. What I would like to do is copy the structure (only) from table 1 into a new table. Change all the fields in the new table to text (except for an ID field which would be an autonumber). Then run a seperate group by query against each column, counting the values in each group (i.e. first query would have two fields The grouped column and the column count.
Once I have these values I would like to concatenate them (with the count in parens) and then push these values back into the new table under the appropriate column.
My code does this. I basically loop through a recordset that runs to each column/field groups and counts and then Edits the new table with the concatenated data.
My first table is 170 fields and 38K records. The issue is that it's too much for Access to handle and it blows up (on field 123) Telling me the File is too large. The file does explode to 1G. Then I can shrink it back down to 67mb by running a repair and compact... and then run the the data for the rest of the fields in that table. When I compact again I get about 80Mb.
So now I have two tables, both with an ID field... so I try to link them together (via a make table query) and meld them into one table... but it keep running into that "File Too Large" issue.
How can I have two tables in a database file with a combined size of 80Mb, but when linked together are too large for the database file? Does it have something to do with having all text fields?
I looked up the limits to MS Access and the field count doesn't appear to be an issue since it's nowhere near 255... So what's the problem here?
I have a form with a Treeview in. I have it populated from a self-referencing database using the following code.
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() Const strTableQueryName = "SELECT * FROM tblHierarchy ORDER BY tblHierarchy.Function_Parent;" Dim db As DAO.Database, rst As DAO.Recordset Set db = CurrentDb Set rst = db.OpenRecordset(strTableQueryName, dbOpenDynaset, dbReadOnly)
[Code] ....
The database this is referencing is about 30000 lines and it takes ~4 minutes to populate this way. I know Treeview isn't really supposed to be used in this way however it's what is required.
Now I have come up with the theory that I will populate each node with children as its clicked to be expanded.
I have "Master" table with fields "Job No" and "Revision No". Both together is a primary key, so that combination of both cannot be duplicated. I have 100 other tables to be related with referential integrity(+update&delete) to Master for both fields. Apart from Job No and Revision No, all 100 tables have different set of fields which is why I had to come with so many tables.
Due to 32 limit rule, I had to come up with workaround method to have all 100 tables in the relationship. So, I created 5 other SubMaster1, SubMaster2, ...., SubMaster5 which are related to Master with relationship with referential integrity (+update&delete). Then I assigned 20 tables to each SubMaster so that 20 tables are related to each SubMaster table.
Whenever I create new record in Unit, the new record is generated in each SubMaster using update query for each SubMaster table. I have all the forms and necessary query laid out. The only missing part is being able to duplicate a record. I have limited knowledge in VBA, but I should be able to modify it to address to my requirement.
I want to copy a given record in Master, SubMasters and 100 tables as a new record. I need this feature so that I can select certain Job No and Revision No and copy that as a new Job No(assigned manually in a form) and 0 as the revision number. Possibly a button which will ask for new job number and copy everything from the active Job No and Revision No to a New Job No and "0" Revision No. The existing record may not be there on all 100 tables for the given Job No and Revision No. If it is there, then copy otherwise ignore for each of the tables.
I have a table "ItemList" which lists all the unique name of the 100 tables.
I want to my ImageFrame to open as a picture. My problem is that my picture could be either a .jpg or a .png (or whatever). The code below works if I hard code profile_pic.png or profile_pic.jpg. Is there a way to use the wildcard here? (Its not working as written now)
Code:
Dim vFolderPath As String, strFile As String, dirFile As String vFolderPath = DLookup("FolderName", "tblCodes-FolderControl", "FolderKey = '" & "Profile" & "'") dirFile = Dir(vFolderPath & ctrl_people_id & " *", vbDirectory) strFile = "profile_pic." + "*"
I am trying to export an attachment item (Picture .jpg) to a word document. I have been exporting text to a word document successfully with below syntax "
With rst strLandSalesID = Nz(.Fields("LandSalesID")) strPhotograph = Nz(.Fields("Attachments"))
I'm working on a MS Access database, there's one table linked from a ODBC database.
In the ACESS table, I defined 2 fields,A and B, each of them maps the field in the ODBC table. A field C in the ODBC database can return a unique value with both the info. A and B.
We want the C value can be automatically show up after we input the A. B value in a MS ACCESS form.
It sounds very easy. and if we use asp it should be easy. However, I just get stucked here. Whether I can do it in MS ACCESS.
I'm having trouble with a shell() command in my vba.
I'm trying to call up the picture viewer showing the file of the photo I clicked on in a form. Everything is happening as expected - the file opens in Windows Photo Viewer, but it is minimized.
I can open a picture fine from Windows Explorer, but something about my shell command is forcing a minimize.
Here is my code:
Code: Dim sFile As String PicFile = "C:Pics" & Me!PicName & ".jpg" Shell "RunDLL32.exe C:WindowsSystem32Shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen " & PicFile
I would have assumed ImageView_Fullscreen would do what I want!
I want to display the linked image in form view. 'ole object' has the property 'display type' as content or icon. but both settings shows only the icon and file name. 'attachment' field does show image in form view but attaching images (jpeg or png) will increase database size.
