Modules & VBA :: Way To Make ESC Key Have Same Results As No Button In Message Boxes?
Oct 28, 2014Is there a way to make the ESC key have the same results as the "No" button in message boxes?
View RepliesIs there a way to make the ESC key have the same results as the "No" button in message boxes?
View RepliesI am not sure where to start or go about creating message box that would display "No results found" if my queries return no results. My search of the forums hasn't been fruitful.
I have created one form that has a text box and a button that works as a search function to run through the tables and displays the applicable queries. Currently, if no results are returned nothing happens. Preferably I would like a message box to display stating that there were "No results found". I would assume that the code would be associated with the "Find" button. Here is the VBA code as it stands, again, I haven't even attempted to add code for a message box.
Private Sub Find_Click()
On Error GoTo Find_Click_Err
If DCount("Heading", "Service Desk Manual Query") > 0 Then
DoCmd.OpenQuery "Service Desk Manual Query", acViewNormal, acReadOnly
End If
[Code] .....
Find_Click_Exit:
Exit Sub
Find_Click_Err:
MsgBox Error$
Resume Find_Click_Exit
I have a form with three text boxes and i am trying to figure out how to ensure atleast one of these boxes is required and would error if none of these are completed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy company is finally using my accounts package (alongside our original package until we can be certain there are no bugs).
Anyway just adding nice to have features at the moment.
I've got a form that has 5 combo boxes where the user can select 5 customers. Then a button so they can graph the amount of money generated by each customer and compare them.
I've just made a query to return the top 5 highest grossing customers.
What I what to do now it feed the query results into the combobox values when I press a new button on my form.
How do I go about this?
We have a button running a SQL query via VBA, how can I make it so the results doesn't show up in a table/preview?Also, I know it's for the SQL forum but how can I make a text box to show the results of a query to display it on screen?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a macro button to pass query results to a listbox? I have a database where I have some fields with dates. What I need to do is to show a list of all cases that have a start date (and also the end date). So I will have 2 buttons, one that says "show started cases" and second one "show closed cases". If I press the first button, it will run a query and show only those cases that have a date filled in the started case field. I made a button that shows the results in a report, but I would like to have it show up in a listbox so I can double click it and go straight to the case.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have two unbound text boxes and a search button adjacent each that allows me to search for a user via two methods:
1) Payroll ID
2) Surname
They have the following code:
txtPayrollIDSearch
Code:
Private Sub txtPayrollIDSearch_AfterUpdate()
Dim sWHERE As String
sWHERE = "[PayrollID] = " & Me.txtPayrollIDSearch
sWHERE = "[PayrollID] = '" & Me.txtPayrollIDSearch & "'"
[code]...
Then minor differences between the above and the Surname search.I have two questions:
1) How do I make the search more friendly by allowing it to find partial matches, i.e., a user has a surname of 'Smith' but I want to search for 'Smi'?
2) How can I display further error messages if there aren't any matches?
I am trying to query my records by the current records selected date then send the results in the body of an email on click. I believe I am close but I think there is a problem with the date format because I am getting 3421 Data type conversion error. Here is what I have:
Code:
Private Sub eMail_Click()
On Error GoTo EH
Dim dbExceptions As Database
Dim rstExceptions As Recordset
Dim dbDate As Database
Dim rstDate As Recordset
[code]...
In the form1 , I have a listbox1 with 2 columns. The values get added in the listbox using vba. Now I want to Edit the listbox values in case user enters something wrong. So when the user selects a listbox item and then EDIT button then form2 gets opened. And the textbox1 of it stores column1 of listbox1 value and textbox2 stores column 2 of listbox1 value. So the user canb make changes in the textbox values and then press SAVE button . Now I want the code that will make those changes in listbox1 of form1 and unload form2 then.

This works well enough, however, FIELDS 11 through to 16 contain the venue address. This is all we ll and good if every field of the venue address is populated. here are times when not all of the fields are populated, for instance, the address might only be 5 lines.I know I can do this using IIf statements on a report, but how can i achieve the same thing for the email.
Hi
Is it possible to set events for the buttons on a message box?
For example if I create a Message Box when someone clicks on a button, and set it to vbYesNo, can I then create an open form event on the yes button, and a close acform event on the no button.
Thanks
I have created a message box that will appear if certain criteria is met, but I want to enhance the message box so that the following is achived:
"Please choose which OCA you are on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6"
The user then presses the appropriate key on the keyboard and that number appears in Me.Text1
Thank You!
I have been tasked with building an Access MDB Database for absolute beginners and i need to guide them as fool proof as possible through the database
My Question is
I need to write a Macro or VBA and I need to warn the user if they are trying to move to the 1st record or the last record in the database
I would like to give it my own message box stating that is not possible to go further
Is this possible using a Macro or using VBA
This may be a really dumb question, but those are the easiest to answer right? ;)
Anyway, I have a parameter query where the user enters in certain criteria that it wants to look up. If there are no results that pertain to what a user enters in, is there a way that I can put in an error message that tells them that there are no results? Right now it just goes to a blank form/report/table (depending on what they are searching). I'd like something to pop up telling the user that there is no information cooresponding with what they've typed in.
Thanks.
G'Day:
I have tried numerous things to try and create a pop up message or form to alert users of a timing conflict in a scheduling program.
I am not real familiar with codes and am not sure how to handle this.
I used Jason Browne's web site to help me construct a query that will list a result of time conflicts (ie some project is scheduled to occur before another one is completed).
What I need to have happen is the alert message or form opens when this conflict occurs but does nothing when the timing is ok.
I am not very familiar with code and am having a road block mentally. All help is appreciated!
THANKS
I am having some problems, I tryed a msgbox with only ok and if I would like to save the record I see now needs to be a yes/no buttons, so I changed the ok to yes/no and it saves the changes no matter what. so i will need a If statement correct, but what do I put in it?? The Same thing is happending with my ok/cancel buttons.
Thanks

I have a form and when it's opened you get 3 different search questions to answer or leave blank. My question is.... If a search parameter is entered but no results are found to match it, how do I create an error message telling the requestor "No Data Found"?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have eight fields on a table- combo boxes which look up their results in a LU table.
eg. The field is called Communication and its row source is
SELECT LU_EFATCommunication.Score FROM LU_EFATCommunication ORDER BY LU_EFATCommunication.Score;
I am trying to yield a total score by adding the results of all the fields together. I have put [Communication]+ [Nausea] + etc etc.
This, however yields the very strange result of lisitng all the results but not added just separated by a .
ie if I have the results 0 and 2.5 and 6 the final results is 0.2.5.6
Any ideas why?
Hello,
I have a query that prompts the user for input to generate a report.
I would like to in essence copy that same record set and append it to a different table (archive table).
Not quite sure how to go about it.
Thank you
I want to close a form and I am using
Private Sub Form_Close()
Application.Quit
End Sub
as the form opens with the access application window hidden, and I found that the .ldb file didn't close if I simply used the X.
I have a series of fields with validation rules which activate on exit. One of these validation rules is in the box which gets focus when the form opens. This means that I get the validation text error message boxes when I close the form with the X.
If I have started to complete the form, I get a whole host of error messages and validation messages when I try to shut it with the X.
Is there a way of closing the form and cancelling or ignoring all error message boxes. I want the user to be able to close the form if they have decided not to fill it in after all, or have got part way through and want to cancel.
I would really appreciate any help, I am sure this is a very basic question and I should probably be able to find the answer, but I can't and I am very fed up!
I have some code (see below) that checks if the start date text box is blank or greater than the end date, and if so, generates a message box and sets the focus back to the start date textbox. There are command buttons on the form that open queries based on the date fields. This all works fine.
However, if the user changes his mind and closes the form without filling in the date field, the message box "Please enter a start date" pops up repeatedly. How do I specify that a text box is required UNLESS the user is closing the form?
Code:
Private Sub txt_startdate_LostFocus()
If ((IsNull(txt_startdate) Or (txt_startdate) = " ")) Then
MsgBox "Please enter a start date.", vbOKOnly
[Code].....
Every time I re-open Access 2010 it pops up stating the following with a blank text box:
"[Forms]![Frm_system]![sub_frm_invoices].[form]![invoice_id"
I hit ok and the usual invoice_id param text box message box appears again.
Once that is over, I gain access. I can browse to the form - frm_system, open the sub-form sub_frm_invoices and remove the invoice_id field. Once I re-add it everything works fine (until I close the application).
I initially thought it was because the database was set to "compact on close" but I disabled that and it is still occuring .
I know this is the cause but as the sub-form itself uses a table record-source I know the field exists - not to mention I can simply delete and re-add it to fix it temporarily.
This behavior occurs when a field, a criteria, an expression, or a control in a query, a form, or a report references a name that Access cannot find. For example, a name could be misspelled or a field may not be available within that scope.
Basically it looks like the textbox displaying the invoice_id on the form is the problem. I can't figure out why though. When I remove it everything works - the queries work if I recreate it as well..
I am running a simple query. Three Fields
Customer
Standard SLA
Non Standard SLA
The two SLA fields are Check boxes. I wish for the query to bring back only the customer name if the check box is ticked. I have tried putting Yes, True and -1 in the criteria. Some come back with no results and others come back with all the Customers listed even though not all have the field checked. What should my criteria be to only show the checked boxes. What am I missing?
