Multiple Fields

Jul 19, 2005

Hi All,

I have multiple fields on a form, does anyone know how I can make them unvisible without writing 30 times .visible = false.. Someone told me I could use the tag property.

Thanks in advance.

Forms :: Inventory - Allow Users To Update Multiple Fields For Multiple Assets

Sep 25, 2014

I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:

Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.

I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.

I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).

Modules & VBA :: SQL - Select Multiple Fields From Multiple Unrelated Tables

Oct 28, 2013

A small issue I was wondering of for a few day . Is it possible in SQL query to SELECT multiple fields from multiple tables ? Example for the question is

Code:

dim my_var as String
my_var = "SELECT Emp_FName , Emp_LName , Emp_Adress " _
& " FROM Table1 " _
& " AND Emp_Date_Of_Payment , Emp_Sum_Of_Payment " _
& "FROM Table2 " _
& " WHERE Emp_ID = 3 "

Is this code actually valid in SQL gramatics , and is it usable if passed to a Recordset variable ( rs = CurrentDB.OpenRecordset(my_var) ) ? Just FYI - The two tables are not related and I want to keep them that way (If possible relate their records just via SQL/Vba )

Multiple Parameters Doesn't Work On Multiple Fields

Jun 27, 2006

I created the below query to come up with a new form. When I enter a single parameter, it works fine. When I modify the code and enter multiple patameters, it also works fine if I do not enter any information for the parameters. But once I enter one of the parameters information, then it does not come up with anything. I double checked and made sure it was typed in correctly. Is there a trick when entering multiple parameters on a query?

SELECT [JE 06 Log].[Operational Region Name], [JE 06 Log].[Period Name], [JE 06 Log].[Source System], [JE 06 Log].[Source Name], [JE 06 Log].[Category Name], [JE 06 Log].[Associated Category Name], [JE 06 Log].[JE Name], [JE 06 Log].[JE Base #], [JE 06 Log].Area, [JE 06 Log].[Line Description], [JE 06 Log].[Natural Account], [JE 06 Log].Description, [JE 06 Log].[JE Entry Date], [JE 06 Log].[Debit Amount], [JE 06 Log].[Credit Amount], [JE 06 Log].Amount

Adding Multiple Fields

Dec 28, 2005

Hello, I have what I believe to be a very basic, albeit wordy question regarding an Access based mailing list that I am designing. For the scope of this project, I have 7 fields: Position (the position of the person recieveing the mailer, So far all I have is the "Principal", these are all schools) Name (The name of the school), Address, City, State, Zip and SchoolID (this is the primary key and will be hidden)
My question is: How can I add multiple positions per School (Name)? I need to add 1st through 6th grade teachers as well as the councilor to each location. So each of these people will be sent a mailer. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions needed.

Thank you

Multiple Fields To One Table

Nov 25, 2004

Hi There,

I have a question which is not so easy to discribe but maybe easy to answer, so i'm giving my best shot.
I'm making something to store information about patients. If made the forms en table with the wizard within access and some extra functions with VBA. The first problem i have is this:
I have to many control elements on 1 form (control boxes, I get a error message) so I need to split this form up into 2 forms. Other control elements or no option, because the input should be like this.
The information form both forms need to be kept together in the linked table as 1 record. But now I have split the form up into 2 forms I get 2 separated records. 1 record with the information from the first form and the other record with information from the second form. My question is what can I do the merge both records to one or maybe better to make sure that both forms only generate one complete filled record, so my table won't grow unnecessary big.

Please keep your answer as easy as possible so I can keepup. Thanks!

Greatings,

Pascal

Multiple Valued Fields

Sep 10, 2007

I need to have a field that is labeled zones. This field can have anywhere from 1 to 7 or so values. The Values are numbered 1-15. If I have a person that operates in zones 2,3, and 4 I need to be able to have the annotated in the record so that when I want to see all the people operating in zone 2 it will recognize that Joe Smith works in zone 2, even though he also operates in zones 3 and 4. I need to do this in Access 2003 since that is what they have at work. I know that 2007 has multivalued fields but I don't have that version at work. So if I understand this right I create a separate table with headings Zone and Autonumber as the PK. Then I link that to the main table in a one to many relationship between the zone table(many) and the main table(one)? Then when I create a query that searches for all records that have a 2 in the zone it will find Joe Smith's record? Is this right? Thanks for your help. If there is an easier way please explain it to me. Thanks again.

Grouping Multiple Fields

Jul 21, 2005

I am trying to display five columns from three seperate tables. The query is fine but I have redundant fields showing. I thought the GROUP BY operator would fix this, but I have more than one column to select.

SELECT ID, FirstName,LastName, Salary,City
FROM worksat INNER JOIN store ON worksat.store = store.storenumber, employee
WHERE worksat.store=store.storenumber
GROUP BY city, id, firstname, lastname, salary
ORDER BY city;

Thank you.

SQL To Search Multiple Fields

Jul 24, 2006

I have a search form, and it has 2 combo boxes, and 3 textboxes. I would like one of the textboxes to search 10 different fields for the inputted data. Along with that search all of the others must be able to be used to narrow down the criteria. How can I do this with SQL? Right now I have a select distinct, where, and I use And to include all 5 parameters. What can I do to use the one box to search numerous fields and still return options when coupled with the other search parameters. Thanks

Update Multiple Fields At Once

Sep 6, 2007

Hey guys-
I have 2 identical tables. I want to update the data from Table1 to go into Table2. Each table has well over 70+ fields in them. Instead of handwriting out each [Table].[Field] in either SQL or the Designer- is there a shortcut to tell Access to grab all the fields from Table1 and update all the fields in Table2 (all the fields have the same name)? I just don't have the energy to type it all out- I figure there's got to be a way...

I know when you do an APPEND query in the designer- it will do this for you- but not the UPDATE query...
Thanks!

Sorting Multiple Fields

Mar 19, 2007

I have a database with different "Categories": hotels, kennels, pet sitters, etc. I need to sort it so that I can export and print it. It needs to be sorted as follows:
State|City|Category. Whenever I do a sort it ends up giving me all of the hotels first (by state and city), then the kennels (same way), and so on. I need them integrated so that within each City, first come the Hotels, then the Kennels, then the Sitters, etc., and then on to the next city.
Is there an easy way to do this, without knowing SQL or other programming?

Unique ID Across Multiple Fields

Aug 14, 2013

I am working on a database of biological samples and test data. A problem is that many times the same subject has multiple ID's. For example, one subject may have the ID "ID234" but they previously had the ID "Sub84" or something like that. I want to be able to have 3 or 4 fields that have ID's for a subject, and I don't want a single one of them to be repeated. So I have column a, b, c, and d, and I don't want to have one record to have the same ID in column a as another record has in column d and so on. All I have been seeing is a way to make sure all of a, b, c, and d are unique combinations, but I want none of the fields to be repeated.

Combo Box Completing Multiple Fields Help

Dec 2, 2005

Ok... big time newbie/hack here. I have a tiny bit of programming experience from waaay back with UNIX and C. Have basic database experience and understanding but no VB experience. So I appologize ahead of time if this seems really simple. I'm working on "fixing" a small access database/program for my wife's work. Very simple design.

I have a company table and a customer table. I have customer form and a company form. They may have several customers at the same company. So my design has them starting on the Customer form. They begin by filling in the Customer's Name and then they get to the Company Name combo box. They should select the Company Name from this box. If it is a new company and is not in the list they should click on the "New Company" button beside the Company Name field. Then the Company Form opens and they can add a new Company along with Company address and phone numbers etc. Then they close the Add Company Form and then can select the newly added Company form the Company Name combo box (by the way, the only way I could get this box to update with the new company name was to use a macro that only runs the Requery statement for the On Enter event... it works... I hope this is ok).

Anyway, this is where my problem arises. I need the selection of the Company Name to also pull over the address, phone number, fax number, etc. info from the Company table and complete it on the Customer form/table now. How do I do that? I think I need to do this with the After Update event with some VB code... but I have no idea how to actually pass this data. The property for my combo box is as follows:
Control Source........CompanyName
Row/Source Type.....Table/Query
Row Source......SELECT zMASCompanies.CompanyName FROM zMASCompanies;

The field doesn't have to be a combo box (if this is not the right way to do it)... I just need them to select a company name and have it fill in about 20 or 25 fields from the company table/form into the customer table/form.

I did try searching the forum and found a few things but nothing I found was very clear (especially since I am not sure I am even heading down the right path). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Any help please????
Thanks,
Jeff

Copy Values To Multiple Fields

Hello,

I am running a database in which end users input values into a table via a data access page. The problem is that there are usually lots of records in this table which requires the same value for a particular field.

I was wondering if there is a way to implement something so that the user can input the value once and the value is then copied to all the records?

Many thanks in advance

Update Fields In Multiple Tables

Jun 27, 2005

I am trying to setup a database for vehicle stock control.
Im not sure if I have gone about this the right way as I am new to this but thus far it is working correctly except for one annoying problem.
The database consists of so far

tblIAWVehicleDetails (Primary key "IAWvehicleID" autonumber)
tblIAWSellers (Primary key autonumber)
tblIAWBuyers (Primary key autonumber)
tblIAWStates (Primary key autonumber)
tblIAWStatus (Primary key autonumber)
tblIAWSafetyDetails (Primary key autonumber)
tblIAWSold (Primary key autonumber)

In the Vehicle Details table a stock number has to be manually added as this will be used for new stock as well as current stock (Number range from 100 - whatever) "IAWVehicleNo".
This table contains all relevent data with reguards to make, model, bodytype, color etc.
The sellers table contains the details of the seller Name, address, Phone, LicenceNo etc.
The Buyers table contains employee names.
The States table contains all Australian states.
The Status table contains current vehicle status Retail, Wholesale, Wrecking etc.
The Sold table contains the details of the person who purchased the vehicle if sold.
The Safety details table contains a safety checklist for pre purchase inspections eg: Headlights yes/no checkbox, Headlight text field for any extra info.
It also has a field for a safety Certificate No once the vehicle is checked and recieves a Safety cert.
The forms are setup as
frmIAWVehicleDetails
frmIAWSellers Subform
frmIAWVehicleSafetyDetails
frmIAWVehicleSafetyDetails Subform

The Vehicle Details,Sellers,Sold & SafetyDetails tables all have the IAWVehicleID & IAWVehicleNo Fields but when the details are entered through the forms the IAWVehicleNo which is the manually entered number only updates to the tblIAWVehiclesDetails but the other IAWVehicleNo fields in the other tables remain blank.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Table Design - Multiple Fields

Dec 29, 2005

I'm hoping someone can help me with this one. I have a database that tracks seminars and registrations. I need to revise it as they want to allow an individual to add in up to 10 more additional people on their registration.

The simple way would be to do the following (you'll see my 10 additional fields in here), but I don't think this is the 'RIGHT' way:

Tbl_New_Registrations
Registration_Number - Autonumber - PK
Seminar_Name - Lookup (goes to Tbl_Seminars)
First_Name - Text
Last_Name - Text
Business_Name - Text
Years_in_Business - Number
Address - Text
City - Text
State - Text
Zip - Text
Phone - Text
E_Mail - Text
Questions - Memo
Additional_Registrant1 - Text
Additional_Registrant2 - Text
Additional_Registrant3 - Text
Additional_Registrant4 - Text
Additional_Registrant5 - Text
Additional_Registrant6 - Text
Additional_Registrant7 - Text
Additional_Registrant8 - Text
Additional_Registrant9 - Text
Additional_Registrant10 - Text

What I 'think' is required is an Additional_Registrants table, but I'm not sure how to do this so that when someone fills out a registration form, the 10 additional registrants go into this table and the database knows that these 10 belong to record X and so forth.

Does this make sense?

Any ideas or thoughts on this on?
