Multiple SubDataSheets

I wondering if it's possible to have more than one subdatasheet for one table. My table relations are as follows:

tbl1: Offices
col1: ID (autonumber)
col2: Office (text)

tbl2: Sections
col1: ID (autonumber)
col2: Section (text)
col3: Parent_Office (number) (relation to [Offices].[ID])

tbl3: Staff
col1: ID (autonumber)
col2: Name (text)
col3: Parent_Office (number) (relation to [Offices].[ID])
col4: Parent_Section (number) (relation to [Sections].[ID])

As you can see the "Staff" table has two relations. One to the "Offices" table, and one to the "Sections" table. I'm trying this because this company has some employees under an office, and some employees under a section under an office. And in the end was hoping to be able to look at the "Offices" table, then expand an office to show both contacts related to that office, as well as sections related to that office.

Is this possible? Or am I beating a dead horse?

Subdatasheets

Hi all!
I want to insert a subdatasheet into a table but I only want certain records of the subdatasheet to be viewable/accessible e.g. Record 1 of my table should be related to records 1-5 of the subdatasheet. Is this even possible? Or worth doing for that matter!

Hello,
I'm sorry if this has been already discussed but I've been searching without result.

I have a table "A", with table "B" in it as a subdatasheet.
Now when i insert a new row into "A", i need a new copy of the table "B" to be created, meaning every row in "A" would have it's private copy of "B". Is there a way to do this? I don't insist on subdatasheet solution, i just need a new copy of B to be created and linked to any new record in A.

Any suggestions?

Is it possible to pull information out of a subdata sheet to simplify a query or report? I am currently running a query based on 2 tables, however this produces multiple instances of the same info. If possible it would be much more beneficial to collect all info from the main table but I have not been able to find any info on how to access/reference the subdatasheet. Is there a way to do this or is this much more complicated than it sounds?

Hi once again!

I am trying to see if it would be possible to realize this design:

I have a table with 20 records (equipment names) and each one of them as a unique serial number and a lot of other fields;

Somehow I need to create a subdatasheet for each one of those records! This subdatasheet will contain pin to pin connections informations (lots of records maybe 70) for the cables attached to the equipment !

Example:

As you can understand each equipment has a proprietary cable with specific pin to pin connections so I CANNOT create a single subdatasheet for the whole TabEquipment_Names table, but I would need to specifically create a table for each record in the Equipment_Names table, isn`t that correct?

Is there any way to do this?

How To Make Subdatasheets Work In Subforms

Hi, all! I need some help. I am trying to figure out how to enable the subdatasheet in my subform. I've already told the root query to include the subdatasheet, and it works. My subform only allows datasheet view, and I've enabled the subdatasheet visible property in the subform. What am I missing? I really need it to show up. It would be SO cool if it would work. Thanks!

Forms :: Tab Order With Subforms And Subdatasheets

I have a continuous form with a bound subform in the footer section. Is there a way (with VBA?) to set the tab order so that it tabs down to the subform in the footer after a few controls in the main form and then back to the main form after going through the subform?

Also I have a form with a subform in datasheet view. Can I have the tab order set so that it tabs through a few fields in the datasheet view, expands the subdatasheet and allows you to tab through it, then tab back to the main datasheet?

I want users to fill out a few fields in the main form, go the subform easily, enter the data there, then go back to the main form easily and enter the rest of the data before going to the next record in the main form.

I have a main table and multiple other tables that I want to link to each row of the main table.The main table "Data" consists of columns (Name, x, y) where "Name" is the primary key and all values are unique.Each of the other tables have columns (Name2, z) where the value of "Name2" is the same in each row and also corresponds to the table name.

I want to make each table a subdatasheet of "Data" where each row in "Data" shows the values in the table corresponding to its name. (i.e. where Name = Name2).Below is what I have so far, but the code doesn't work because linkchildfields and linkmasterfields need to be run from a subform.(?)

The error I am getting is 'Property Not Found' once the code reached the linkchildfields line.

I have a table for all my members, then a table for each class (for attendance purposes) and the class tables are linked to the master via subdatasheets. I also have a form that pulls up all the details of a member and I want to show all the times they've attended class. Is it possible to add the subdata sheets to the form or would I have to add the attendance record as a subform that filters on the person?

I am using Access 2010 and Excel 2010. I need to have VB script to export the access table 502 records by 38 fields into Multiple Excel workbooks each having multiple tabs. In the Access table each record has two fields: Div and Tab that will be used to name each workbook and each tab (sheet). There are 6 unique "Div"'s to name the 6 workbooks and there are several "Tab" names for each Div (workbook).

Excel workbooks would take names from the "Div" field and the tab names would come from the "Tab" field in the Access table. First need to find workbook name (Div - Field) then the look for each sheet name (Tab - Field) to create 1st Excel workbook with all the sheets (Tab) and repeat the process. I think you need to approach of read the Access table one record at a time keying on the "Div" and "Tab" fields in creating each Excel workbook with the associated multiple tabs (sheets) that are written to a common folder.

Note: These 6 workbooks with multiple tabs were originally imported into Access from one common folder on my desktop by this routine.

Forms :: Inventory - Allow Users To Update Multiple Fields For Multiple Assets

I want to create a form that allows users to update multiple fields for multiple assets. Below is what I came up with:

Ideally, I'd like the subform to be filled in by having the user select multiple Assets from the S/N combobox field which would then auto-populate the "Type" field. Then they would fill out the appropriate fields they want edited in the top part of the form. They hit save and magic happens. This would also be nice because only assets they want edited would be displayed (easier on the eyes) and no distinguishing would be necessary. To do it this way, I know I would need to use a temp table but I wanna avoid using temp tables.

I know I can do this by adding a Yes/No field in the "Asset" table, setting the "Asset" table as the subform's recordsource, and then putting a checkbox in the subform and allowing them to check the assets that they want to edit (which would also allow me to sort it instantly so that checked Assets are at the top of the datasheet for easy viewing), but I would like to know if there's a way of accomplishing this without the use of checkboxes.

I know I could also use a listbox and that allows them to multi-select items, but I'm not sure if that allows me to group all selected items at the top of the listbox for easy viewing of selected items. Plus it would involve a lot of scrolling (there are over 2k assets).

I have a form with 15 unbound text boxes (daily temperatures) and what I am trying to do after entering the temperatures into the text boxes the user clicks an add button which will add 15 new records into the temperature table

the code I have started off with is

which adds 1 successfully however if i repeat the code above for all 15 this Im assumming will create a potential bottleneck and slow the system down

is it possible to add all 15 records at once? do you think Im going at this the right way

I made a database that in one of the forms, I like by clicking on a button the user be able to select 5 excel files with different file names (in the same directory) and then based on the imported file's names, it be stored in 5 different tables.

I need to count records based on multiple criteria from two different tables. I have two tables (i.e. "tblTasks" and "tblTaskHistory"). The tables have a one-to-many relationship based on the "TaskID" field. "tblTasks" has a field called "AssignedTo" and "tblTaskHistory" has a field called "TaskStatus". I need to know how many tasks have been "reopened", the "reopened" status is located in the "TaskStatus" field in "tblTaskHistory". I need this count against a unique listing of employees which can be found in the "AssignedTo" field in "tblTasks".

Import Excel Data From Multiple Sheets Into Multiple Tables In Access

I would like to know which way is the best way to import excel data from multiple sheets in to multiple tables in access.

For example data from Sheet1 -> Table1, Sheet2->Table2, Sheet3->Table3 etc...

I have tried using this:
Cmd.TransferSpreadsheet acImport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel5, "Table1", "C:Importedfile.xlsx", True, "Sheet1!"

Ironically, data from Sheet2 and Sheet3 seem to be properly imported in to table2 and table3, but some of the data from Sheet1 seems to be missing in Table1 after import.

Any other ways to import the data?

I am trying to build a newer database 2010, based on an older one,2000, that has been locked tight and I cannot see the modules to kinda get a reference of where to start. I am trying to find a VBA code that will allow me to import a several text files to one table. The text files are all in the same format but I cannot remove the page headers and footers to get the table to look right. I have attached an example of the text file i am trying to import but it is a stripped down version for information protection.

Also, it appears in the old Database Table once imported as:

A small issue I was wondering of for a few day . Is it possible in SQL query to SELECT multiple fields from multiple tables ? Example for the question is

Problems With Multiple Relationships Over Multiple Tables - See Picture.

I have the following problem.

I have 3 tables made up of ID and NAME and other parameters.
NAME is unique field in each table, whilst ID is not unique. the three tables share the same fields, but can't be combined due to the NAME field not being unique throughout.

Now I have a single table that has a unique ID so I want to make a 1-inf relationship between this table and all three. the problem is how do I look at all three tables at the same time instead of having to insert subdatasheet on only one table.

Multiple Joins In Multiple Table Search Query

I am trying to create a simple Search form in Access where a user can select a desired record and query multiple tables using the inputs.

I would like them to be able to query Retailers, Distributors and Products.

The 6 tables are linked as follows:
Although some of these tables are not included in the query, they are required to ensure relationships.

Retailers -- Uses (RetailerID,DistributorID) -- Distributors
Retailers -- Orders (RetailerID,ProductID) -- Products

All retailers have at least one distributor BUT a retailer may or may not have ordered any products.

I have created my form but the query linked to the form is having some trouble. It is only selecting those records that have ordered products. For example, if I query a retailer name only and it does not have any ordered products, it will not display. Is there a problem with the table joins? The SQL for the query is displayed here:

Multiple Parameters Doesn't Work On Multiple Fields

I created the below query to come up with a new form. When I enter a single parameter, it works fine. When I modify the code and enter multiple patameters, it also works fine if I do not enter any information for the parameters. But once I enter one of the parameters information, then it does not come up with anything. I double checked and made sure it was typed in correctly. Is there a trick when entering multiple parameters on a query?

How To List Multiple Files In Multiple Subfolders

Does anyone out there know how I might do the following:

I have a main folder which contains many sub-folders. In turen, each subfolder contains several files. I am interested in creating a text file that within each sub-folder will list certain files in that sub-folder. Example:

"Main Folder"
"Sub-folder 1"
FileA
FileB
FileZ
"Sub-folder 2"
FileA
FileB
"Sub-folder 3"
FileA
FileB
FileZ

Pseudo-code:

Read Main Folder
Do While Sub-folders exist
Do while selected sub-folder contains files
If selected sub-folder contians FileZ then
Write selected sub-folder name to text file
Write time/date stamp to text file
else
loop to next ub-folder
end if
end do while
end do while
Close input and output

Combining Multiple Tables With Multiple Records

Here is the situation that I'm hoping that someone can help me with. I'm working with a database that tracks our condo units - from prospect coming into the system until we close them as a buyer. All the units are setup in the system so a salesperson will select from the units available. All that works fine when I create reports. The problem is trying to get the parking and storage on the same reports with the unit information. The problem is that there are multiple parking/storage units "attached" to a single unit and I cannot figure out how to get them to all appear on a single row of the report. As an example -

I have units A, B, C
Parking units p1,p2,p3,p4,p5,p6
Storage units s1,s2,s3.

Unit A uses parking units p1, p2, p5 and storage unit s2.

Unit B uses parking unit p3 and storage unit s1.

Unit C uses parking unit p4, p6 and storage unit s3.

How do I write a query/report that would show:

Unit Parking Storage
Unit A p1, p2, p5 s2
Unit B p3 s1
Unit C p4,p6 s3

Multiple Count Rows, Multiple Tables

I want to count based on 1 (same) field from each of two tables, based on if ID is in "X".

select a.groupid, count(a.id), count(b.id)
from ta a, tb b
where value in ('a','b','c')
group by a.groupid

Thats sort of the psuedocode but Im not getting the right results.

Any help would be appreciated.
