View RepliesI have a single field in a table called "Client Contact", where users enter a semicolon between the name, address, and city state & zip. My reason for this was so we could copy client info with a single copy and paste (like from an email). But, on the final report, it needs to have these three parts split up into different lines, or even different textboxes. I can't find a way to do that.

I tried the dcount function but returned an error because some of the email addresses have an apostrophe in the field. Is there a way to do this in 1 query? This is an example of the result I would like:

Field I want to count is Email Address for each table, grouped by Email Group Name.
In 2002, I set up a database with Access 97 which included a table with a memo field. Through the years, the database has moved from Windows XP and Access 97 to Windows 7 and Access 2007.
Recently, the memo data has been difficult to edit (the display will move away from the cursor, or a new record will be inserted).
It appears to be logically straightforward to convert the memo data into multiple text fields as the memo field can be parsed for dates of entry.
I have an Access database where we grade reports. At the end of the grading form I have a memo field [Comments] for the grader to enter comments about why the report received the grade [Grade]. Each report is graded by multiple people. So for example, ReportNum 08-001 may be graded by 5 people and therefore will have 5 records in the database. I need a report to show all the comments for all the reports where the grade is <80. I know how to do this except for how to display all the comments from the memo field in the 5 records on one report for that ReportNum.
I hope I am making sense. I appreciate any help.

I have been unable to find a simple way to copy a text entry from a Table Field and paste it to multiple records in Datasheet view.The Toolbar 'Paste' procedure copies to the selected record only and I am unaware of how to select multiple records, as per a spreadsheet procedure.

Since each client can have several errands and and each errand is related to each one and other, then the client. I thought i need key which can work as a ClientErrandID, so i can tie the errands together. My idee is to use the ClientErrandID as an text auto incrementing field with a string like: (Errand-A-xxxx).
Lest say the range would be from (Errand-A-0000 to Errand-A-9999) And when the string hits "9999" at the end the "A" will switch to a "B" and the number counter would start over from "0000"

I'm trying to set the control source for a control on my report that describes the number of portions that goes into a box. Sometimes there is a specific number of portions per box and sometimes it's a range. When the number of units is specific, then it is entered into the MasterCaseMinUnits Field. If there is a range of units possible than the min is entered into MasterCaseMinUnits and the max is entered into the MasterCaseMaxUnits.
I want my report to look at the mastercasemaxunits, if it is blank it will only display what is in the MasterCaseMinUnits field. If there is a value in the masterCasemaxUnits field, then it will display the masterCaseMinUnits & " - " & MasterCaseMaxUnits. this is the code I'm Using:

When I run my report, the control displays: #Type!
In my Access 2010 database there is a form with a large number of checkboxes enabling me to select/deselect certain record details.
Each click on one of the checkboxes triggers a VBA routine setting true/false values in one of several tables linked to the main table.
A query over all records is filtered by the true/false values of the linked tables and the resulting set of records is displayed in the (continuous) form.
The header of the form contains a text field with the value "=GetRecCount()" displaying (correctly, but randomly fast) the number of records selected:

Now, the funny thing is that each click on one of the boxes results in 1 call of the VBA routine setting table values, but 21 calls (!) of the text field "=GetRecCount()" in the form. I have established this by incrementing a public variable at each pass.

I have 4 fields that are unbound on a form. img1 img2 img3 img4..When these are entered they are all combined and autofill another unbound textbox = imagename.. what i would like to do is from this unbound textbox 'imagename' ..i would like to populate a textbox that IS bound called FileName

I have a form with 15 unbound text boxes (daily temperatures) and what I am trying to do after entering the temperatures into the text boxes the user clicks an add button which will add 15 new records into the temperature table
the code I have started off with is

which adds 1 successfully however if i repeat the code above for all 15 this Im assumming will create a potential bottleneck and slow the system down
is it possible to add all 15 records at once? do you think Im going at this the right way
I am trying to build a newer database 2010, based on an older one,2000, that has been locked tight and I cannot see the modules to kinda get a reference of where to start. I am trying to find a VBA code that will allow me to import a several text files to one table. The text files are all in the same format but I cannot remove the page headers and footers to get the table to look right. I have attached an example of the text file i am trying to import but it is a stripped down version for information protection.

We need to move rich text from an Access memo field to a Word text box. So far the best Ive been able to come up with is in the code below. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to pull a date from a table into a text box on a form tab control using DLookup and I just can't figure out what is wrong with my DLookup expression:
=DLookUp("DateOrdered","tDateOrdered","PrNumber=" & [PrNumber]) ----- (DateOrdered is short date, PrNumber is text, db is split Access 2013)
Whats missing in this expression? I've tried every criteria variant I could find but to no avail.
We have a database that we use to track the tablets in our organization, a combination of Apple, Android, and Windows.
We label them with a hostname depending on their branding. Example below.:

I am wondering if there is a way to automate the pasting function of text from one field into several others in a table without losing the data that is already in the field.
As an example: in 20 fields I have "I love potatoes" and I want to paste the text string, "And I love tomatoes too" in every field without overwriting the original text.

I'm pretty good with setting up a very simple database such as inventory, profiles, etc.. However I'm creating a database to keep track of a football (soccer) team's players and match statistics.What I have so farsample attached)
Tables:
* Players - PlayerID, Fname, Lname, position, goals, assists, etc (all details regarding a player)
* Position - Positons (Table containing positions eg: defender. Data is selected in player's form as a combo-box)
* Competition - Competition types (Cup, League, Friendly. Data is selected in Match's form as a combo-box
* Venue - similar to Competition table
* Opponent - Similar to above two tables
* Match - MatchID, Competition, Venue, etc (form corresponding to table attached)
Forms:
* Player form
* Match form
Now as shown in the sample, I choose players using the combo-box. Then whatever stats they had during the match are entered on the fields provided. How to link the player (selected using combo box) to the stat fields (goals, assist, YC, etc).
I am trying to delete some text from a text field. There are almost 8000 records and almost all of them are like this.

I want to delete everything after the dot and including the dot, to end up with "johnsmith-2". How do I do that? I think I can do it in a query, but don't remember how.
I am trying to create a list of values in a field separated by commas. I have done this in a query as follows:
[Field1]&", "&[Field2]&", "&[Field3] and so on.
However, when Field2 is null, the result is two commas between Field1 and Field2, but I only need one. What function can I use to eliminate the extra commas when fields used in the concatenation are null?
I need to convert my text data to a number but when I convert using the VALUE function or use "format cells" to the numbers category, I loose the leading zeros. I need to keep them for sorting purposes.
