New To Access, Auto Date Issues
Apr 4, 2007
Hi all,
I'm new to access and have been creating a table to store data entered by machine operators about product quality checks in my factory. I can create the fields with the relevant data ok and make a form as the interface for the operators to enter the data but i am having trouble with the date and time.
What i need is for the date and time to be entered into the data base for each entry at the time of entry, but i need this to happen as an autodate type function as i dont want the operators to have the ability to fudge the dates or times.
I hope I have explained this well enough.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve

I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.
For ex.
Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1:
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 31 Aug 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015
how can I make the expiration date update to go 30 days from what is in the extens field 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) instead of 267 days from the original date?
So I want it to look like this after updating a field
Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1: 30 Aug 2015
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 29 Sep 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015

I am building a database to track contract of employees so that I can know which contracts are valid and which are expired.
My table has the following fields:
ID (Primary key)
Employee ID (Foreign key to link to the employee table)
Start_Date
End_Date
Status (Either valid or expired)
Challenge
I want when I enter the end date, the system checks the end date against the current date and fills in the status field with either valid or expired as appropriate. For instance if the contract end date is March 10,2016, the status must be filled in the word valid.

We use access to enter our service tickets in at work. What we have are three date fields.
Call Date
Start Date
End Date
We are 24/7 operation.Currently all 3 just autopopulate with the current date. What i would like to do is ADD a CHECKBOX next to each Date Field. And make it work like this.
1. let them autopopulate as they are currently
2. if you end the call AFTER MIDNIGHT (the next day). CHECKING the box would automatically populate yesterdays date in each of the fields that has the check box CHECKED

I am building an Access database for a client. It is an employee staffing database. With that being said they would like the ability to automatically populate the "T2PPCD" date field based on what is entered into the "Report Date" field. (Same table)
The date is the Monday after 180 days from the report date.
I already know how to get it to auto fill 180 days from the "Report Date" but I'm not sure how to tell it to give me the Monday after 180 days.

I was wondering if anyone knows any way to have the date/time field in my database automaticaly update itself to the current date when I change part of the data in that same line.
For instance, if I change the entry for last name, is there anyway to have the date field automaticaly change to the current date without me entering it manualy? Thanks for your time.

I am an extreme newbie to Microsoft Access and I've created a basic form for entering data about employees for a future review process. I have a Date field which I would like Todays Date (the date the form is filled out) to appear, however I cannot get it to work. I am not sure where to put Date( ) or todays date in order for it to automatically appear when a new record is started.
Thank you to anyone who can help me out with this...

I have just upgraded my large client database from Access 97 to Access 03. Unfortuntely all date of birth prior to 1930 are being displayed as 20??. IE date of birth 1928 displays 2028. Is there any way to automatically change this without altering the input mask and changeing each record individually. I have approx 15000 on the database, so not looking forward to doing it manually.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I have a form that contains six boxes with the run out date for six different types of employee vaccinations each box contains a conditional format that allows it to change colour to highlight how close they are to requiring another course of injections (Green = within 6 weeks, Amber = within 2 weeks and Red = Out of date).
What i would like is similar to the conditional formatting be able to auto email the individual on the 6 week 2 week and if they happen to run out of date.
Not sure how difficult this will be my access knowledge is vastly improving so any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.s I have searched the access forums and only came close with a birthday greeting style auto email but the fact i want to be a pain and auto email at different intervals hampered that idea!
Thanks in advance Darren

Does anyone know how to write a simple method of having a text box on a form default to the first day of the current month. i.e. 01/05/2005 and then a second one equalling the last day of the current month i.e. 31/05/2005?
I can make it simply default to today by having the obvious =now() or =date() in the default section but i am bit stumped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

I am new to using ACCESS. I have a database that has several tables which generate forms for my office to print for client files. I have these forms set to print based on a query that will only pull the ones that have a form printed field not selected, if that makes sense. What I would like to add is a field right next to the form printed field that allows us to enter the date the form was printed. I have added this field but now would like to take it a step further and have the date automatically fill once the form printed field is checked.

I'm creating a DB for tracking time. I have a form with a subform. The main form is the employee data, the subform is their time sheet. What I would like to do is when I enter the date on the subform the pay period number will auto populate in a text field. I have created a table with three columns - PK auto number, Date, and Pay Period Number. I created a relationship between that table and the time sheet table using the date. I don't know if that's right or not. I have read about auto populating from a combo box but that's not what I want.

I have a form in Access where a report date is to be entered. We only want to show a date format like Dec-13. Month-Year. I set a input mask to keep this consistent when others are entering.
Now it is January and people are trying to enter their reports for December, when they put in Dec-13. It automatically changes to Dec-14. WHY!I tried to go to the table and change the date to the year 13, but it just keeps changing back to 14.

Is it possible to automatically update a date field in a form record without ever clicking in to that date field, but only because you have altered something else on that individual form record or an embedded, linked subform record? eg1. Staff details record - a) create a record for Bob Smith and 'Last Updated' field automatically inserts date b) amend record to say 'Robert Smith' and 'Last Updated' field changes to show new date, even though you never touched that date field. eg2. Risk register - main form record contains name, details, and 'Last Updated'; embedded subform allows you to add individual records of actions taken for each risk. I want the 'Last Updated' field to update each time I add an action, without amending the 'parent' risk record.

I have a database of personnel. People come and go all the time; however I can't have a personnel record deleted as soon as they leave. They remain on our books until a specified date for each individual. The date is different for each individual. I was hoping to have a field in their record with the date, and have a query or some code delete that record on the date in the field. Is this possible?

Please find attached a mdb (2000) which includes 2 tables and 2 querys
If you open "QryProductsComboSelections" You will see that some product ID's have duplicate entries.
what I am trying to do is allow for contract pricing updates to be added with an affective date so they will not display until the affective date but also those old contract prices that have a date less than the current affective date will also be hidden thereby always limiting it to one record even if the product only has one pricing entry.
I can do this with a boolean "PriceClosed" but it would only be a last resort as I would like to automate this so it requires no user intervention other than adding the new price for A given date.
I have spent hours playing with this so rather than through the comp out the window Thought I would do the sensible thing and come and ask the experts.
Hope somebody can help as done a search and got loads of unrelated results.
Best wishes
Mick

I have a date/time field on a form that has the default set to "=now()" which puts in the system date and time. I need to change it so that the date changes to the next day any time after 11:00 PM (instead of midnight). This is because our third shift starts their day at 11:00. If they start entering data right away, alot of their work shows up on the wrong (to them anyway) workday date. I'm struggling with the expression builder to get this to work.
One way is changing the time to be an hour ahead but that will affect the entire day when I just want to change the date for one hour per day.

Ok, so I have this table (tblPayPeriod) with the fields Start Date, Stop Date, Pay Period & Percent FY. The Percent FY field is a Number field that gives off the percent of the fiscal year (FY) that we are in.
Then I have a report (rptDistrictMgr) that in the header I want it to display what percent of the fiscal year we are in based on the Auto_Date that is in the header.
So, if the Auto_Date is December 17, 2014, we are (according to tblPayPeriod) 24.1% into the fiscal year and I want the 24.1% to display in the text box which called Text99.
I would just like a simple dlookup that I can use as the control source of the text box or an expression to put into the On Load sequence.
