Mar 28, 2006This number is too large [220020220020] for a field in my table. I currently have it set to Long Integer. What's the proper setting for a number this large?

Suppose I have two table: Table 1 and Table 2 If a value ex.98 (Table1) matches with the value with 98(Table 2),it should pick up my second higher value 103. suppose 103 is the next high value of 98 . Please see the data value.

General :: Importing Txt File With Large Number
Feb 11, 2014I am importing a delimited .txt file that has a number field. A value for a record coming in is 36,767 and Access is not accepting it. If I redefine the field as long integer or as double, I can manually update the record, but as soon as the file containing the record is imported, the field reverts back to integer.
How do I format the field with VBA so that Access will accept the value and not revert to integer?

continue until ID=300000
Modules & VBA :: Copy Record As New In Large Number Of Tables
Jan 20, 2015I have "Master" table with fields "Job No" and "Revision No". Both together is a primary key, so that combination of both cannot be duplicated. I have 100 other tables to be related with referential integrity(+update&delete) to Master for both fields. Apart from Job No and Revision No, all 100 tables have different set of fields which is why I had to come with so many tables.
Due to 32 limit rule, I had to come up with workaround method to have all 100 tables in the relationship. So, I created 5 other SubMaster1, SubMaster2, ...., SubMaster5 which are related to Master with relationship with referential integrity (+update&delete). Then I assigned 20 tables to each SubMaster so that 20 tables are related to each SubMaster table.
Whenever I create new record in Unit, the new record is generated in each SubMaster using update query for each SubMaster table. I have all the forms and necessary query laid out. The only missing part is being able to duplicate a record. I have limited knowledge in VBA, but I should be able to modify it to address to my requirement.
I want to copy a given record in Master, SubMasters and 100 tables as a new record. I need this feature so that I can select certain Job No and Revision No and copy that as a new Job No(assigned manually in a form) and 0 as the revision number. Possibly a button which will ask for new job number and copy everything from the active Job No and Revision No to a New Job No and "0" Revision No. The existing record may not be there on all 100 tables for the given Job No and Revision No. If it is there, then copy otherwise ignore for each of the tables.
I have a table "ItemList" which lists all the unique name of the 100 tables.

Basically I would like to capture the quantity in stock for the above list of phones at many stores.
I started out by adding each phone model as a numeric field in tblStock, because I need to obtain the quantity value for each and every model, for each and every store.
Is there a better way to do this? I was thinking of creating just 2 fields, Model and Quantity, then adding each model as a record, then using that record as a sort of template. I wander what would be the drawbacks of this, since with the first method, if a user needs to add a phone not on the list he would have to modify the table design.
Send A Large Number Of Reports (actually 1 Page Invoices) As Faxes?
Aug 8, 2011I need to send a large number of reports (actually 1 page invoices) as faxes. A few years ago I used to use a version of WinFax Pro with command line parameters to accomplish this. I would actually print each invoice to the WinFax Printer with a command line that contained the fax number for that client and using this method I was able to send each invoice to a different fax number (customer).WinFax is no longer available.

The project calls for the creation of a header that logs into a user account.
The first part of the header is a marker, with a value of 4,275,878,552. It is to be supplied in a Binary format of length 4.
My quesion is "How do I create this marker".
What I have tried so far is a string variable - strMarker thus:

Using the ChrB function to convert the Hex version of that number (FEDCBA98)
Changing Field Length In Large Database.
Feb 6, 2006I am trying to change a field lenght of a large database (access 97) It is at 50 right now and want to change it to 25. When I try to change it and save the table I get a error when the bar is about 3/4 the way accross the bottom.
Microsoft can't change the data type - there isn't enough disk space or memory.

This is error 3183. In the help it says that the TEMP DOS enviroment variable location doesn't have enough space. (summerising). Now I have a 100+gb drive that isn't close to being full. I also changed the MaxLocksPerFile registry dword to 8,000,000 as my table has around over 3 million records. I have tried this on a xp and 2000 machine same results. Next I am going to try it on a 98 machine. I could do it by breaking up the table into 2 differnt ones and do each one individually but there is an autonumber field used as a reference number (I know I know). So that would screw up the numbering scheem (Yes I know there are ways arund that also). this database is about 400MB
Couple of questions
1. Is there a way around this? I have not found a solution on line yet.
2. Will lowering the field length make the database smaller (the data that is in there now is less than 25 charecters and the field is set to 50.) I have gotten mixed info on this. there are a few fields I would like to reduce.

Add Primary Key Field To Existing Large Table
Apr 28, 2008I have a table with more than 700,000 records. There are no unique fields or unique combination of fields. I would like to add an AutoNumber field but when I try I get the message:
File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry.
If I answer yes I get an error that the new field was not added. Is there any way to add a key foield to an existing database?
Return Only Part Of A Large Data Field

I have a table that contains a list of news items. For each item there is a link to an appropriate image and a load of text.
I display a list menu of news items showing the picture and the first few lines of text. At the moment for the first few lines of text I have a separate field and just copy and paste the first few lines of the main article into it.
My question is is there a way where instead of having to have a separate field with just the first few lines in I can somehow just retrieve the first few lines of data from the full article field when displaying the menu listing?
Hope this makes sense, and any ideas greatly appreciated.

New Field Value From Large Table Column To Be Highlighted In Report
Sep 3, 2015I have a daily report that shows data from previous day for production. When we have new products produced, I would like a field to be highlighted if it is the first time it has come up. I do not want it a unique field just from yesterday, but to analyze the table of all of the production days and highlight if a particular field from a column is unique. Can this be done?

In some cases, like my tv show records, I have a lot of data because of the episodes and episode descriptions.
I'm currently displaying this data using a split form with the datasheet on the left
I must use a small font in the memo field in order to display all data.
I could use a larger font and simply scroll but I'm looking for an alternative.
I've even thought of creating a hyperlink filed and point to the movie on IMDB's web site. But when I click the link nothing happens even though I copied and pasted the link into the field.

The same error was resolved on another table by cutting four fields then saving then pasting them back into the table and saving again.

Nov 4, 2013I have a form where we fill in information for supply of equipment to employees.
Each item must be signed for on a printed report.
I am encountering problems trying to create enough rows in my report detail for each signature of the items supplied.
For example, on the form I will select the "equipment" - 4 hats supplied and 3 boots. On the report I want the equipment set as the group and the detail to be a number or rows which equals the number of selected items. therefore under the Hats group heading I want 4 blank rows which are made up of 3 text boxes - Print Name, Signature & Date and another group heading for boots but with 3 lines.

Or does Access only use as much space as there is real data in its fields.
Way back in the dBASE III days, dBASE would pad all your "real" information with as many spaces as necessary to fill up your field. I suspect that the MDB structure is probably smarter than that.
Another question on the same topic - I believe there is a maximum number of characters in a record (4000?). Can your field sizes add up to more than 4000, as long as the actual data, all combined, never totals 4000...?

Jan 10, 2014I am trying to do some simple table operations. I have a field (Date) containing dates, and an empty field called Day.
I want to extract the day number from the Date field, and write it to the Day field.
I didn't get very far until I ran into trouble when setting my recordset. I get the error "Too few parameters, expected 1". Clicking "Debug", will highlight the code line "Set rs = db.OpenRecordset(sqlString, dbOpenDynaset)".

Convert Text Field To Number Field In Query
Nov 18, 2005As the title says, i have an identifier field which combines two codes eg. AAAAAA/1234.
I am using a query to extract the number part, however when i try to link to another query it says 'type mismatch'.
I assume that this is because the main query is based on a table where [ShipID] is numeric and the extracted data is based upon a underlying table where [PackageID] is a text field.
Is there any way to get round this?
