HELP!!! Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid SQL Statement Expect

Mar 27, 2007

My main experience is with MySQL and PHP so I'm kindof stumbling around in the dark here. Heres my story:

We recieved a new server and migrating from (Windows Server 2000, IIS 5.0, Access 2000) to (Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0, Access 2003) has been nothing but problems.

I have setup IIS to work with ASP, I've also setup a system DSN. The access file was copied over from the previous server. We're running Access 2003 and now I can't seem to get this ASP script to work.

When I try to upload a file to the script I get this error:

Line: 42
Char: 7
Error: HELP!!! Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid SQL statement expected 'DELETE','INSERT','PROCEDURE','SELECT', OR 'UPDATE'.
Code: 0

Here is the part of Connect.asp that errors:

Code:<script LANGUAGE="javascript"><!--var DSNString, TheDF, TheRS;//DSNString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C: hedata estdisbo.mdb;User Id=admin;Password=;";//DSNString = "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};Dbq=C: hedata estdisbo.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pw d=;"DSNString = "DSN=testweb; UID=; PWD=";function public_ConToDB(){ TheDF = DP.CreateObject("RDSServer.DataFactory",this.text1.value);DC.DataSpace=DP;DC.Server = this.text1.value;DC.Connect = DSNString;//DC.Connect="d: hedatadisboweb.udl";}function public_GetRS(SQLCommand){ TheRS = TheDF.Query(DSNString,SQLCommand);DC.SourceRecordset=TheRS;return (TheRS);}function public_GetDC(){ return (DC);}//--></script>

Its included in a file called FileRead.htm here is the part that refers to the error lines:

I set an alert after this line but it doesn't pop up.

ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'll be checking this very frequently.

Sincerly,

ODBC Driver

Oct 19, 2006

I have a user that can only set up an Access ODBC driver using one listed as:

"Driver do Microsoft Access (*.mdb)"

They used to be able to set one up with listed as:

"Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)"

Any ideas as what the difference is and why it may have started preventing them from using the latter?

Thanks,

ODBC Driver Woes!

Apr 29, 2005

I'm sure you've all seen this before - but, it's killing me. It's for a university project which is being demonstrated soon, and I can't get it working consistently!

When pages are loaded, I get the error -

Provider Error - 80004005, Unspecified Error /db/update_select.asp line 33 (line 33 is the connection to the database)

or

Internal Server Error 500 - Page cannot be displayed

And sometimes I get one about "Jet" "Threads", and ODBC stuff.

I'm guessing it's a driver problem, but I have no idea where to go from here! I'm running Windows 2000 Adv. Server, IIS 4 (I think) and my db is access 97 :O (I would have put a newer version on, but the CD-Rom is so old on the PC it won't take 700MB CDs! Argh.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I Am Getting A Weird Driver Error When Connecting To Access DB

Feb 15, 2007

I am coding an ASP front end for an Access database. I actually had it working yesterday but I still had some tweaks to make. My development has come to a stand still because of this crazy error I awoke to this morning. I went to the url of my ASP page and all of a sudden I get this error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0xbac Thread 0xc84 DBC 0x19e6fc4 Jet'.

So after doing some research, I decided to change my connection string to use Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0

Once I changed over to the Jet driver, I got this error message:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Could not find installable ISAM.

I am totally stumped with this problem. I actually re-upped the database and it started working briefly but the error message soon returned. Everything I am reading is saying to change permisions and change some stuff in the registry but since it was working fine yesterday, I do not believe it is a registry setting.

Any ideas?

Unexpected Error From External Database Driver

Jun 14, 2006

I am getting this error message:
"Unexpected Error from External Database Driver" when I try to import some .dbf files into Access. I just did some quick research, and it was suggested that I remove or rename the borland driver. Not sure how I feel about attempting that, plus, where do I get a new borland driver once the old is removed/renamed.

ODBC Error

Feb 14, 2008

My program is an Access 2003 database that connects to SQL 2000. I have a continuous form that shows between 10 an 25 records. I have coded an update button that when clicked updates a check box on each record displayed and then updates the form. Normally this works perfectly. However, sometimes when the button is clicked nothing happens for aproximately a minute then the user gets the error ODBC - call failed and no records are uodated. I have tried resetting the view from Dynaset to Dynaset (Incosistent Updates) and extending the timeout to 300. I have also tried extending the MSAceess Page timeout setting to 5000 instead of 5 under ODBC. Nothing has helped. Does any have any other solutions? Or a way to get a more specific error. I am really just guessing that it is a time out issue.

ODBC Error 1 'Undefined Function'

Jun 8, 2006

I am trying to run a query in an Access Database from another program using ODBC.

The query contains a user defined function and works fine when I run it in Access.

When I try to run the same query externally via ODBC I get the following error:

"ERROR 1 - [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Undefined function 'replace_chr13' in expression"

If I replace my user defined function wit a standard Access function such as LCase, the query can be accessed externally fine!

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Error Handling For ODBC Linked Tables

Jan 17, 2006

My tables are sybase linked tables to my Access front end. I get this error whenever i click away from my mainform while my not-null fields (textboxes) have not been entered. So, i would like to put an error message "somewhere" that tells the user to fill in the necessary fields and highlight the necessary textboxes in red, instead of this scary ODBC message
http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/6829/error0el.png

When i put my error handling in the afterUpdate or afterInsert Event. I still get the above error msg instead of my msgbox.
Where do i put this message? or should be question be, "what the proper way to handle this intimidating error? :)

Here's my error handling:

On Error GoTo Err_Form_AfterInsert

'do something

Exit_Form_AfterInsert:
Exit Sub

Err_Form_AfterInsert:
MsgBox Err.Description, vbExclamation, "Please enter the Project Name, Project Leader Initials, Main User and Status Code" & Err.Number
Me!Combo67.BackColor = "red"
Me!Combo65.BackColor = "red"
Me![Project Name].BackColor = "red"
Me![Project Leader Initials Combo].BackColor = "red"
Resume Exit_Form_AfterInsert

Thanks in advance for your help :D

ODBC-call Failed, Error 3146

Oct 14, 2004

I have an ODBC connection to our company's data that uses Macola. I can enter criteria in the fields in Access to filter that data, but when I try to put a parameter query in such as [Enter order number:] I always get an "ODBC-call failed" message, error# 3146. Can I even solve this problem, or am I just not going to be able to actively change the criteria unless through a pivot chart or table, or by hand? Can anyone help? Thanks.

!! HELP -- URGENT !! - Need To Know How To Make Numeric Calculations In Access!!!

Mar 25, 2006

Erm Hi everyone I'm new.

Sorry about the rather striking title, but I have an assignment with the deadline tomorrow and I need to find out how to perform numeric calculations in access with different fields (i.e. adding numbers, minusing etc.)

Well, I had to make a project at school for my GNVQ ICT, I chose the advanced sales database, since its a project we have to add in our own features and find out about them ourselves. Well I thought I'd create one for my company inside school, I wanted to create a database that would print invoices and monitor all the resources we have. The project has to be in on monday!

However all was going well until I came upon a slight problem, I'm not sure how to do calculations in Microsoft Access!

Well basically this is what I'm aiming at, its nothing too complicated really.

I have a table called RESOURCES which keeps track of all of the stock the company has (e.g. how much paper, how many mugs, tshirts etc.). I want the database to be able to automatically take 1 away from the selected resource when a form is used to file a new order.

E.g.

I have a form asking me the details of the design, In the resources table I have set the quantity of mugs as 100, i.e. I have 100 mugs in stock and available.

I use the form and tell the database that I am making a design which will use 1 mug.

The database then goes to the resource table and takes 1 away from the available stock of mugs making the total mugs available 99.

I then the database to be able to do this automatically, when a checkbox is ticked, when the form is submitted I want it to see which text boxes are ticked and take the correct consequent resources from the RESOURCE table.

I have Access 2003, I have attached the file incase anyone needs it, note that the Forms have NOT been made only the resource, customers and orders tables have been created.

If someone could tell me how to do this I'd be extremely greatful, this is very URGENT I have to hand in the project on Monday!!!

I know I'm asking alot but I'd be really really greatful if someone could help me out!!!

Adding New Data Via Access Page - URGENT

Aug 6, 2007

Hi

Please answer ASAP, this would be urgent!

I have two tables that need to be updated in tandem from a single access-page, by entering previously non-existent data.
One contains a contractor ID, and the name of the contractor; The other contains details of contracts, with the name of the Contractor selected from a drop-down box that draws its contents from the other table.

I have a data access page with an always visible drop-down box that shows contractors, and if I select one, it displays all contracts entered. This unfortunately means I cannot easily add new contractors, since they have no pre-existing contracts to display the details, and allow entering, and I cannot make the details fields permanently available.

Right now, I can add new contracts to those contractors who have at least one in the system already, but I'm unable to add new contractors. My aim is to have a single page add the contract data, and new contractors. Having a hyperlink open a new page that allows the adding of new contractors is also acceptable, but no coding, please, cause I suck at that...:(

Thanks in advance for your help!
