I have a form developed with Access 2000.with command buttons I built using the standard command button wizard for navigation, new record, copy record, save record etc. I have a few small VB scripts associated with these buttons- mostly message boxes.
I had to upgrade from Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro and Office 2003.
Now whenever any of the buttons are selected, I get a message box stating "Object required"...even if all I want to do is navigate from one record to another. Another person uses this DB too. They have not had any updates and are still running 2000 Pro and Office 2002. I can still add records etc, but this message is annoying and doesn't exactly instill confidence in the application
I ran the ToolsDB UtilitiesCompact & Repair utility with no positive results.
I couldn't find anything in the archives. Does anyone out there want to guess why this just started to happen, what caused it and most of all, how I resolve the problem?
i am trying to call another form's object event.. and i am receiving error mesage "object required". Any ideas anyone? here is my statement:Call frmMain.cmdOK_ClickI do have both subs, the one being called and the one that this statement is in, both as public.thanks in advance!
I was wondering if anyone can help with this code. I am sure it is something simple. It works fine until the last line the (x1down) line. I am not sure what I am missing there. I got that code by recording a macro in excel. It simulates the shift/end/down keystroke which will select all fields that are in the same condition (blank or containing data) as the cell you start at.
The error I get is runtime error '424' - object required
Anyway...hope you can help. Thanks.

Set opensheet = GetObject("\Netstore rainingdocsRobDataopen.xls")
Hello, I am relatively new to Access and I am trying to update someone else's work so here goes. I have to revise a form to incorporate the new fiscal year. I have gotten variables named and feel comfortable that is correct. However, when I click on the "Run Query" button, I am getting the error "Object Required". I know this probably an easy fix but I can't seem to find it. I have attached the code for the form in a Word document. If anyone else needs additional information, please let me know.
I had this error occasionally popup whilst testing my code.
I thought it was strange, because it was in a Microsoft message box, with a Microsoft message, not one of my own messages from my own error routines. This made it very difficult to isolate, I didn't have a clue what was causing it.
However I decided to track it down and to cut a long story short this is what I found:
Err_EditDetail_Click: MsgBox "Error!" MsgBox " Error From >>> EditDetail_Click() Error Number: " & Error.Number & " Error Description: " & Err.Description Resume Exit_EditDetail_Click End Sub ' EditDetail_Click()
Notice "& Error.Number" I don't know how this got changed from "& Err.Number" to "& Error.Number" but that was what was causing the Run-time error '424': Object required.
I cannot get this code to run in access 2010. It shows no missing references, but errors that Object required.
Dim wshShell, btn Set wshShell = WSCript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") btn = wshShell.PopUp("Filter data wil be removed.", 2, "Data Unfilter:", &H4 + &H20) Select Case btn
Basically I have a form where a user has selected a couple values from a dropdown element, and entered a few other text values into the form. I am then trying to grab the values and append them to a table.
Code: Private Sub btnSubmitInputVendorPerformanceForm_Click() 'Button Is part of frmInputVendorPerformance Dim ValueCheck As Integer 'Increments to make sure no errors in entry Dim ErrorShow As String Dim YesorNoAnswerToMessageBox As String Dim QuestionToMessageBox As String Dim DeliveryRate As String
I want to be able to click a field and it copies the field value. Just as if I were using Ctrl+C. THen I can go to excel or internet an paste it. i have the code:
I am trying to create an update query. I am trying to update a field in a table with the current date as a request.
I have a table named tblTest and a field named Date2 that I am trying to update with the current date, the button that the VBA is applied to is in a form name frmTest. This is my code:
Private Sub Command39_Click() Dim t1 As Date t1 = Date db.Execute("update tblTest set tblTest.Date2") = t1 End Sub
But when I press the button I get: Run time error '424' Object Required
I am trying to create a txt file to import into our accounting software. I get the file (its blank), but it fails on the WriteLine and i get the run time error. I have a command button on a form that the user will click to export the file.
Private Sub cmdExport_Click() Dim cnn As New ADODB.Connection Dim rst As New ADODB.Recordset Dim strPath As String Dim strPathGB As String
i have an other table issue. I have some required fields. When a user fills in a form, i and forgets a required field, an error pops up. But i want to change what the error says. I tried getting it by using validationrules. but i can't reach it. The access message overrules mine.
I have form "Project Log" for my table "Orders". One field "OrderTakenBy" ( text field) is a required field in the table.
In the field properities of OrderTakenBy in the Before Update event I have used the following code:
Private Sub OrderTakenBy_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
Dim strMsg As String, strTitle As String Dim intStyle As Integer
If IsNull(Me!OrderTakenBy) Or Me!OrderTakenBy = "" Then strMsg = "You must enter your name." strTitle = "Field Required" intStyle = vbOKOnly MsgBox strMsg, intStyle, strTitle Cancel = True End If End Sub
When I first tested it, after trying to leave the field without making an entry-it worked great. Now it seems to have stopped working, I get no message when I leave the field empty.
I spent several hours but looks like I can't pop up a message in a form when the cursor pointer is on a specific object. Focus of cursor maybe somewhere else, but when I move the cursor with mouse and it reaches to a specific object, I want the object to display a message. I couldn't do it.
I'm trying to display an image which is saved in the table as an OLE Object in a message box. The field with the object is "PowerCurve". This is what I'm trying to do. It allows me to get as far as clicking yes to view the second message box but then it results in an error when it tries to display the image.
Code:
Dim strDetails As String strDetails = DLookup("Details", "ExistingDeviceDetailsQ") Dim strCurve As String strCurve = DLookup("PCurve", "DeviceT", "DeveloperProduct = '" & Forms!DeviceF!D_ExistingDeviceCmb & "'") If strCurve = "No" Then MsgBox strDetails, , "Device Details"
[code]....
I get the error "Object variable or With block variable not set" on the line
Hi Gang, I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I have spent the last two days trying to resolve, or work out why on earth I am getting this error message. I am at the point of pulling my hair out - its SO frustrating so *any* suggestion would be great. I have created a small database for plant (as in flowers) details. To cut a long story short, its a simple db fronted by a form that allows me to display and add records together with an associated image (stored outside the db). I was trying to write some code that would look at the control that displays the image and, if there is no image associated with a particular record, it would display an "add new image" button. If there is an associated image, the buttons visable property is set to false. I had ammended a section of code for the forms "on current" event and saved the changes. I then changed to form view, tried to enter a new record and access throws up the error message. It does not matter which field I try to add data in, the same error still happens. I have checked, and re-checked all my code and property settings for every control and field on the form and I can not track down what is causing this error. I noticed from searching this forum that someone else had this error but the resolution does not appear to have been posted so can anyone help in any way at all. My grateful thanks, Kenny
I have made a form based on related tables. it requires me to fill out every field, which I don't want. I didn't make them required. Why does it do that?
When I attempt to create a new DB - by performing Blank Database I immediately get a message 'Object Library not registered'.
If I 'OK' that box and try to create a table, I can do so - create Table in design view.
When I then try to Import external data - an excel file I get the message 'ActiveX component Can't create object'.
I have looked ob various sites for help and forum information regarding these errors but have found nothing conclusive, with specidfic regard to Access 2003.
The version has been loaded on my machine about 1 year as part pf Office Professional but this is the first time I have attempted to run Access itself.
Does any forum member have any ideas as to how this problem could be resolved.
I am currently building a database for the company I work for that is fairly similar to the Northwind Database; however it is made from scratch so hopefully some of the common problems with that database won't find their way into mine.My problem is that when I go to my Orders form, I pick a customer from the main form, which creates a record on the Orders table. When I then go to the subform to choose a product/line item, I get the error in my title ("The LinkMasterFields property setting has produced this error: 'The object doesn't contain the Automation object 'OrdersT.") as soon as a product is chosen from the drop down list.
I'm getting an error message (informational only):
The object doesn't contain the automation object 'ClientID.'You tried to run a visual basic procedure to set a property or method for an object. However, the component doesn't make the property or method available for Automation operations.
Check the components documentation for information on the properties and methods it makes available for automation operations. This happens when I start entering data in the field "productname" of a subform.
So I'm assuming something in the form or in the code of the form is referring to ClientID. but I've checked it, and there is nothing referring to it anymore. Well, at least as far as I'm aware of.
This afternoon access crashed without any error, it just closed. Upon reopening the DB again, all my work of the past one and a half week was gone. Normally I always backup the data, but these past days I didn't due to christmas and still working a lot too. So I forgot.
I did some redesigning in the process this evening, deleting and adding some fields and code.
I can't get rid of this error. Can anyone help? Or point me in the right direction?
Also the DB is 3.5MB in size. While it is completely empty. And I can't imagine that some empty tables, queries, forms and a bit of code can be so much. But that's for a later time to worry about I guess, unless one of you says: this and that, maybe that works... Otherwise, I would really be very glad already if the error disappears....
I am creating an form in a database and whenever one of my procedure's run it creates this error message:
The expression ON Load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Member already exists in an object module from which this object module derives.
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [event Procedure]. *There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro.
Commission: IIf([Amt]<=10000,30), IIf(Int([Amt]/1000 Between 10000 And 50001)*3.5+3.75)
What I required to do is that when amount is greater than or equal to 10000 than Amt multiply by 30 simply. and when amount is between 10000to 50001 than Amt/1000 multiply by 3.5+3.75
means that when amount is 15000 than according to per 1000 it will be calculated.
please dear help me out in this I required it very very urgently.
I am fairly new to Access and may very well be trying to walk before I can run.
I have an Excel Spreadsheet that is currently used to produce a Nominal Roll that is listed by the following:
Surname Enlisted Month Enlisted Year
POP Month POP Year
I know how to transfer it across to Access.
I then need to be able to produce lists (The listings order needs to be Enlisted Month/Year then POP Month/Year) that can then be merged into tables 4 columns wide (where at the top of each table is a General Comment) and the names run down in alphabetical order then move across to the next column. (Basically for example I have 24 names that needs to be divided by 4)
hopefully that is as clear as mud, any help would be greatly appriciated
ive never done normalisation before, and read online a bit about it but cant for the life of me understand it. anyone willing to give me a little help. on converting the above to 1NF, 2NF and 3NF?
