I made some minor changes in my data entry form, the table and the query form. I believe they are all consistent. But now my query comes up empty no matter which parameters I choose. How do I figure out what went wrong?

I have a graph which uses the value of two combo boxes for beginning and end parameters. In order to work, the datevalue() function is used.
When i design the rowsource, it works. But when I exit Access and open it again, it doesn´t. Then the rowsource is either wrong or too complex.
What is going on?

I have written a very simple query which get's it's criteria from a form I also created, which couldn't be any simpler itself. The form simply has a text box that I enter a value into, in this case, the date in a specific format "20041019". The query then pulls all records according to the form value. This query has always worked fine for weeks now. Today, suddenly it would not return any records. If I go into the SQL and manually enter "20041019" it will pull the appropriate records. It will NOT function when relying on the form value though. This has happened to me in the past, of course I did not document what I did to overcome the obstacle though. I have tried matchign the formats of the field in the table to the text box in the form so that they are both general numbers with 0 decimal places, originally they were both text format and it worked. I can't seem to figure out why this would happen. If anyone has any suggestions, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

I have a burron to run a query that auto populates 'start time' with NOW().
It has worked for 3 years and now I get an error message see attached. The only thing I did was change the program fromm 2000 to 2002.

I have the following to code to let the user select a file..
It worked before but suddenly stopped working...I remember adding some reference but I dont remember exactly the name of the reference..
After I did this, I converted the database from 2000 - 2002/2003 ..back and forth...I did not change/remove any references.
I have access 2003 but my database is in 2000 format because my teammates have 2000.

Hi All,
Have a problem with the Toolbox functions when in form design mode; they have suddenly stopped working this afternoon.
For example add button no longer brings up the wizard asking about the various options, combo box wizard no longer appears.
Has anyone encountered this before?
Have tried a reboot but no luck.

Access 2003.
Auto complete was working with a combo box. After adding much functionality
to a database I find that auto complete does not work on any combobox in any
form. So I create a blank database and a simple test shows that auto complete
works. When a form from the faulty database is imported in the test database,
auto complete stops working on the test form. Even if the imported faulty
form is removed, auto complete still does not work.
I tried creating a new database and importing the faulty form after removing
all controls and events from the form except for the combo box. Auto complete
still stops working. Not only on the imported form but also on the existing
form which works prior to the import.
I checked auto expand and it is 'Yes' in all conditions.
What ever is causing the problem on the faulty form seems to cause some
property of the database to change.
Is there some database option or property setting that controls auto complete?
Is is possible that importing a form will cause a database property to change?

I am calling a continous form from a combo box on another form. The code below used to warn me that there were no records and shut the form down to avoid showing a blank form.

All was working fine until I changed the properties of the continous form to "Allow Additions = No" to remove the spare blank line at the bottom of the records (just for neatness really).
Now, if there are no records to display, the Me.TxtUnit is not Null anymore. It does not seem to exist. If I hover the mouse over it (in VBA) I get no response at all.
How can I get my Msgbox back please ?

Access 2013 stops working when I open any table in design mode, and select any field with the type "Number". I can edit Text, Date or Yes/No fields, but not Number ones.

It was working firn till yesterday morning. I have not made any changes in this. But now i am encountring the following error
Run time error 3125
The database engine can't find ". Make sure it is a valid parameter or alias name, that it doesn't include invalid characters or punctuation, and that the name isn't too long.
Please help me. Same thing working properly in other application . Same code same database.

My department has customer database using microsoft access with the main table being a linked table to SQL-Server database down in IT department.
I've only been recently made aware that the staffs have been having problem when trying to change or delete old data. It keeps on bringing up the error message

which is hardly the case since each staff are assigned only one customer to work on.
While it is technically possible to have many people working on the same data, business wise, it is impossible to do that.
I still come up with the same error even when the IT department confirms that no one accessing the SQL-Server table and I was the only one logged in.
This leads me to believe that there is something in the code that somehow preventing the table being edited or deleted. The problem is the database is so huge and was designed by my predecessor so I do not have any knowledge of the complete working of the codes behind it.
If it's the problem with the code, can anyone tell me what sort of codes caused this? If not, can anyone tell me what happened?
Any help would be most appreciated.

I attempted to add new queries, reports, and a form to a shared database. It bombed out and I found that a user was changing data in the tables at the same time.
Now I cannot access the database at all (front or backend) and receive the error message: “The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time”. (I have verified that no users are currently logged in.)
Access to the data is critical to my department and I’m scrambling to fix this. Can anyone assist me?

I've got my form working, and all of the record updating is working fine, so now I am working on error trapping. I need to check if any of the two textboxes are empty, or nothing has been selected from the combobox. I am using the BeforeUpdate method. I am not getting any syntax errors. I am using an INSERT INTO SQL statement. Thanks.

I have a subform that has the Expense Code from the Expense Codes Table and I want to look up the Description (yes I know its not correctly spelled in the formula but it is in the table)

Hi, when I run a simple append query, I get the following message below (See attached) I tried the solution in microsofts website that I have to set all text fields to AllowZeroLength to Yes, and i did that in both the table the data comes from, and the table the data is appended to. View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have an access db that has been working fine for ages and now when we click on a New Record button we are getting the following error:-
Run time error 2105 - you can't go to the specified record. erroring out on the line DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec. We are not aware of anything changing on the PC that the db is sitting on. I have spent the whole day searching the web but have found nothing helpful.
I have compacted and repaired the db, even went to the form/table security to see if all users can edd/add.

What would cause Access to suddenly close without warning while busy with a query?
No error messages, nothing! The query is a fairly big one that normally takes about 6 minutes to run, but has had no problem with it for a number of years. A new drive used for back-up purposes was recently fitted to my PC which now has 3 internal hard drives.
Could this problem be caused by a bad memory handling configuration? The original setup that worked before may have been changed when the new drive was installed. The XP Page File size for example may have been changed.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I have a database running for the last 6 or so years (A97) and have the ctl-shift disable enable code in it to stop people tinkering about with it.
The database was aparently working fine yesterday and today it's decided to be read-only so no-one can update the data.
It's on a server - all permissions ok and not read-only.
I can't get the disable/enable code to work either. So basically, it's locked for any development changes and it's locked for any data changes.
The IT boys are going to take a backup from the tapes of the server and re-install it, so it should be ok, but I've never had this happen before and the database is used daily for the last 6 years with no problems.
Any speculative thoughts?

My acccess (.mde) application suddenly slowed down. I have increased the size for some fields in some Tables. Is it could be the reason for this? Is there any way i can get the speed back.

this never used to be an issue, but all of the sudden it just started happening.
Setup:
frmCustomers (data: tblCustomers) is linked to sfrmJobs (data: tblJobs) via CustomerID (autonumber). Depending on their [Status] in frmCustomers (dropdown, either "Customer", "Lead", "Lead-to-customer" or null), a customer may or may not have a job in tblJobs (or may have more than one).
Issue:
When scrolling through my list of customers , after passing by a "Lead" (or if i just select a "Lead" to begin with), who cannot and does not have a job, the subform does not show any jobs from that point on for people who do have jobs. Also when I create a new job and then attempt to insert data, it tells me that I have an invalid use of null, which is weird because the only field that needs to exist is the customerID, and that's created automatically.
Diagnosis:
I think it has something to do with the CustomerID not functioning correctly, which i don't understand at all, or somehow not getting passed to the subform. i've entered plenty of new customers into the program without an issue, and i used to be able to scroll through all of them and have all of them show up all the time. Additionally, even after i clicked away all the "index or primary key cannot contain a null value" errors, it still gave me a CustomerID, but after I created a job (again, "index or pk blah blah") for a customer, i looked at the table and it showed that the JobID (primary key of tblJobs, is not autonumber) was recorded, but not the customerID.

Please help me! I discovered this bug almost 5 minutes after publicly deploying my program to my client's company, and if he finds it before i can fix it, i'm toast. please please help!

I am thinking about creating a DB using Access for a business. However, my wife mentioned to me that her company is looking at software for database work and has some Access DB's they are trying to convert because, according to a technical support person, Microsoft intends on getting rid of Access as a DB! I am posting here to ask anyone, professional or otherwise, if anyone has heard that Microsoft intends to stop supporting or implementing Access. Is Access 2003 the last version? I haven't been able to find out anything along this line. I thought, maybe Microsoft is thinking about supplanting Access with SQL Server. Before I go to the toil of building a DB system in Access, I want to know I am not wasting my time doing it. If anyone on this forum has heard a thing about Microsoft dumping Access, please let me know. Thank you. :o

Last week I had a report that a live access 2000 is doing the same thing. Users are in the middle of entering data and suddenly the database is gone, with no messages. They can re-open the database and continue.
Anyone else experiencing this problem with Access 2000?

An Access database table I'm looking at has a date column, where date is entered in UK format (dd/mm/yyyy). However, upon entering the database, the date is somehow converted into US format, despite me passing the date into the table as dd/mm/yyyy.
The trouble started when someone else worked on the database - leaving us now with all of the old records in UK format (correct) but all new entries to that column in US format.
Please note, when I open the Access table, all of the dates for the past 2 years or so are fine (dd/mm/yyyy) but recently, since someone else worked on the file, the new records are appearing as mm/dd/yyyy. Within the same table column we're getting apparently mixed formats.
I'm aware of using session.lcid=2057, but would prefer just to be able to have the dates appear in the right format in the database itself rather than having to use this (I'm concerned if I use lcid, it might balls up the older, correct records in the table).
How can this have suddenly changed, and more importantly, how can I get the records into the table in UK format?

I have a form that worked when I left work Tuesday. It is supposed to look at all the information in my "courses" table in descending order by year, ascending order by date, in edit mode. There is also a look-up list that allows me to select the date of the course and jump to that record.
I came in today and it doesn't work! The form LOOKS like it's in add mode--completely empty. the data is still in the table. I checked all the properties and they all look right. The query still looks like it did when I left. It just quit! When I use the look-up list the dates appear in the list, but nothing happens when I select it.
I know I'm not giving you much to go on, but any ideas?

I prepared times ago a database that contains important data that will be frequently updated.
Since yesterday I cannot load the database anymore. I get a pop-up with following statement:

I'm the only user of this database, neither the database nor the directory containing the database is sharable. It is located on the harddisk of my computer which nobody from outside can access.
What can I do to recover the access to my database?
I use MS Office 2003 but tried to open the database also on MS Office 2000 with the same result.
The Help function of MS-Access does not really help.
Who knows how to solve the probleem????
