Essentially I am trying to build a macro or even a VBA script which would open an initial form with various data entry options, and then depending on the options chosen it would open specific forms sequentially with some preset data values.
I can go into more detail if needed; however, the problem is at my work (lab in an industrial plant) my coworkers and I waste a lot of time inputting data as our forms just include every field (which only around 10% of fields are utilized for each entry) because certain circumstances will dictate what fields need to be filled in, so for each entry most fields are left blank. These circumstances are entirely predictable as to what fields I will need for each entry so I thought I would easily be able to figure this out on my own but I have been unable to do so.
I am looking for an elegant way to retrieve a number from a table and display it in a form, where the number is determined by two values that will be input by the user to the form.
In particular, I want to be able to enter into a form:
- a date; and - a class of asset
And have the relevant rate of depreciation for that asset class and that year appear in the form.
Sounds trivial and I guess it can be done in a number of ways. I have tried DLookup. It looks like it should work, but I have not been able to get the syntax such that it will accept a control value as a field name in the first argument of DLookup. (This would involve a table much like a spread sheet with a column for each year. I guess such tables are frowned upon and I have also heard negative comments about Lookups.)
I have experimented with concatenating the two fields into one such there is only one field to search upon. Seems to work. The table would only be updated annually and would only be a few thousand records.
I have experimented with having two joins between tables, but that did not seem ideal.
Perhaps a query of a query?
Perhaps a macro?
(Assuming I can get the form to work I would also like to create a report that lists assets and their depreciation.)
I have a form Delete which contains four fields i.e. Date, City, Depots and Vendor, which has combobox.
I am trying to delete a record from table "Sheet1" based on the combobox, for which i have written the following code, but getting an error at the lines highlighted in red :
Private Sub Command30_Click() On Error GoTo Err_delete_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim intResponse As Integer intResponse = MsgBox("Are you sure you want to delete this record?", vbYesNo + vbExclamation, "Cash Management Team") Select Case intResponse Case vbYes CurrentDb.Execute _
I would like to make a form that can insert more than one row at one time. Something like add first column, then ask the user how many of the second row they would like, then prompt them for what is in the second row then add the information for the rest of the columns and have a separate row for each of the second column. So every row with have the same first column, but from there have a different row for how ever many desired in second column. So lets i enter for the first column, ABC, then I wanted 3 rows with ABC, then prompts me for the rest of the information for each of those rows separately.Something looking like this, oh and it would be updating an already existing table.
EDIT: I would also like to know if it is possible so it does it in ranges and dont have to do it manually like you enter the first column then enter a range for the second column and a bunch of rows are made with each value in between the range that was specified.
I am currently using the column history to log the history of inputs into a memo field.
But i now need to swap how my database runs and now require a combo box to have the same history function, as this is for a status updates and i require users to only input certain status's.
I no that I cant use the columnhistory command with a combo box.
When selecting a status from the combo box it automatically update the memo field (which will be hidden on the form) so the column history function works.
I have a form and a subform with a master/child relationship set based on the primary key of each underlying table. All good there. Now, I want to use VBA to create a filter based on a set of inputs via combo boxes. But the filter must filter both the Parent and Child records.Example. "Show me only records where both only the Parent.Field1 = "string" and Child.Field = "string".I can do this in a QRY as follows:
SELECT Projects.[Project Number], Lessons.[Actions Resolved] FROM Projects INNER JOIN Lessons ON Projects.ProjectsRecordID = Lessons.ProjectsRecordID WHERE (((Projects.[Project Number])="AU-2102421") AND ((Lessons.[Actions Resolved])=True));
But, if I make this as a record source for the Parent Form, then the records in the Parent Form are repeated for each individual record in the Child form.
I have a Form opening from Access Options. I would like to close this Form using the Timer. The following is the code I have used but it is not working.
Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Load() OpenTimer = Timer End Sub Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Timer() If (Timer - OpenTime) = 5 Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "Cover_Page_Form", acSaveYes End Sub
Next question. If I can get this to work can I then use a DoCmd to open new Form within the code above or do I need a new process.
I'm currently making a signup form for a 6day event.
Certain details are taken (Name, Age, Contact no etc).
I also have a registration form; so when someone comes back for the second day of the event I tick the 'saturday' checkbox, or 'monday', or whatever the day is...
When someone comes to sign up for the first time, I'd like the form to automatically check the box for that day (to indicate their attendance). This would save me opening two forms to signup one person, if I make sense.
So, when someone comes to register on a Tuesday, I fill in all their details - and then it automatically checks the 'tuesday' field box.
Hi! I have a database and I have two groups of users: admins and users. The admins' switchboard is different than the users' switchboard. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to tell the db to open the admin switchboard if the admin logs in, or the user switchboard if the user logs in. Any suggestions? Is this even possible? I'm looking forward to your replies. Thanks!
On the sub form I am selecting products that I am selling to a customer whose details appear on the main form.
The products on the sub form are selected from a combo box. This section is in datasheet format.
Depending on the product sold some of the labels on the sub form are not relevant. And when this is the case I was thinking maybe the label is rendered invisible.
Maybe this is not the best way to handle this - or is it. It certainly is expedient.
Perhaps as well when the label is rendered invisible entry of a value into the corresponding text box becomes impossible.
Is there a better way to handle this?
How I can render the label invisible and disallow data entry depending on the value of the combo box.
In the database, there is a table called "Jobs" which sales enquiries are entered into. In this table, there are fields called "JobStatus" which has the default text of "Quotation Pending" and a combo box "JobLive" which is a "yes/no" field. Normally a job will come in as quotation request and the "JobsLive" field will be set to "no".
Occasionally, a job will come in as confirmed from the outset. In this case, the job will be marked as "live" in the combo box "JobLive". Is it possible to change the "JobStatus" field to "Job Live" when this combo box is changed to "yes"?At any other stage, the "JobStatus" field will be changed using an update query as and when changes are made.
I have this code that should change backgroundcolor in multiple items form based on a value of a field:
Private Sub Form_Current() 'check if field on form called somefield is DVD If Me.TYPE.Value = "DVD" Then Detail.BackColor = vbRed 'DVD Else Detail.BackColor = 16777215 'BOOK End If End Sub
I have a box with age in called [agecalc]. I want to change the border of the box to red to indicate they are a Juvenile if under the age of 17.I already have some code to write the text, I just need to change the border of this text box called agebox
I have a Table table_clients and a connected table (1-->many) table_invoices.
I have two forms:
form1(table_clients): all clients with subform1(table_invoices): all invoices for every client
the form2 and subform2 are the same, just objects are placed differently on page.
I want when I have opened a record on form1/subform1, to be able to click a button and open form2/subform2 filtered by the invoice_id and the client_id.
I am creating a database to manage multiple mobile devices. The table structure is complete and I'm trying to build a set of forms.
Simplifying things, I have tblUser, tblSim and tblDevice. I also have a tblJoin where you can select a UserID, SimID and DeviceID to create an item of inventory.
I have created a parent form (frmCreateInventory) base on tblJoin, so it has JoinID and combo boxes for UserID, SimID and DeviceID in the lefthand side.
I have also set up 3 sub forms sfrmUser, sfrmDevice and sfrmSim, based on their respective tables, which I want to display on the right hand side of frmCreateInventory.
I'd like to be able to create a subform control in frmCreateInventory, but change the subform it displays based on what combo box is clicked, e.g. if I click the UserID control, the subform displays sfrmUser, and the relevant data based on the UserID that is linked to the JoinID. if I click the DeviceID control, the sfrmDevice is displayed and the relevant info etc. etc.
Is this possible? if so, how would I go about doing this?
I have a form which has a combobox where the user selects a record from another table,I want to hide the forms fields [managercontact] and [managertelno] depending on the value of the combobox (manager) from the table details, but its not the value shown in the combobox its the value of another field [type] from the same table called details. Its one of two values being 'conc' or 'ob'.
In Access 2007 (or 2010 , 2013), in a continuous form, I want to change the background colour of a text box depending on its value. Obviously, for each record, the color can be different.
I would like to only display certain fields on a form depending on a criteria in another cell. For example if some enters 4 in 'Schemes' it would display 4 data entry boxes scheme1, scheme2, scheme3 etc - is it possible?
I have a textbox & button that when entered & pushed - run a query for the top values randomly depending on the value entered into the textbox.
My code is...
strSQL = "SELECT TOP " & Me.Text140.Value & " [CAN - NAME].Name, [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].Voucher_Number, " & _ "[CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].Procedure_Code, [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].Service_Date_From, [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].Patient_ID, [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].service_id, Rnd([service_id]) AS RandomNum " & _ "FROM [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER], [CAN - NAME] WHERE [CAN - CPT/VOUCHER].Service_Date_From Between " & Me.StartDate.Value & " And " & Me.EndDate.Value & " ORDER BY Rnd([service_id]) DESC "
It runs like it should but doesn't populate any records...that is until I go into the design view, deselect one of the fields and then reselect the same one - only then does it populate.
Do I need to open the query first and then update/append instead?
I'm looking to have either a combo box,, or 2 options buttons (whichever is easiest) that set a date field based on what is selected in the combo box/ option buttons.
The variables are 'Payment in 30 days" " Payment upfront"
if "payment in 30 days" is selected the date field on the form will enter the date as + 30 days from todays date if "payment upfront" is selected the field on the form will enter todays date.
This date field must be blank unless an option is selected, as this information is only entered in a later stage of the form.
I've tried a few different ways to enter this but i can't quite get it to work as i want.
I want to add a combo box to a form, where depending on the values entered in the box another combo box would show more values. In other words, if the first combobox had choices of 1, 2, 3 and 4, if 1 was selected the next combo box would have values a, b, c and d. If 2 was selected, it would have values of a, d, e, f and g.
I am trying to creat a DB that can potentially recieve input from a serial port which has a unique ID on it and updates the corresponding feild within the DB. I don't need to demonstrate full functionality (although if I have time I might give it a go!).
What I want to show is that the DB can accept a unique ID from this external source. The ID will just be to identify a user and a peice of equipment, potentially the feilds in the table would be updated with information like, time of session, duration, speed. I am assuming I may need to use VB to do some programming and create an incoming event. Just wondering what the most logical solution is. I want to bring up an interface when an input is recieved, like a user interface or pop up which says eg. "Hello Jim". Then it is possible to demonstrate that they have been detected.
I have a database of books. I have a combobox listing 3 different status W M R.
W is for Whats next to read, M is for more books too read and R for books read or reading now. I can enter a new book by calling up the add a book form from any of those 3 forms.
If I forget to enter a letter in the combo box then the book is lost to those 3 forms as what they see depends on that status letter and I have to go to the table and enter a letter from there.
I want to know if I can auto populate the field (W M R) depending on which form opened the add a book form.
