Opening Form Directly
Feb 4, 2005
Hi..
I created a database using access database wizard. When I click on the mdb file the form directly opens, while when i click on the mdb file the I have made without using wizard, a list of tables appears and when i need to open a form i have to double click on the form.
Is there any way I can directly get the form to open when I open the mdb file.
I hope I am making my point clear here.
Regards
Rahul

I would like to know if it's possible to open an specific subform inside a navigation form using an event.
I also need to to this using macros ( really can't use vba in this project =/)
Form example:
the main form has "nav_opt1", "nav_opt2", "nav_opt3"
By double clicking a record in "nav_opt1", it will open "nav_opt2" with some filters (but all in the same window), as if I was just browsing through the navigation forms usually.

I have a form which on selecting a command button sends out an email to a manager to say a specification is ready to be reviewed (this contains a link to a sharepoint site where the spec resides). The "approval" details are stored in by DB also so I would like to have included in that email a link back to the access db and the particular record so the person receiving the email can easily approve, if that makes sense.
Here is my code for generating the email (at the point "To approve please click here" is where I would like my link to go):
[i][i] Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
Set OutMail = OutApp.CreateItem(0)
strbody = "<font size=""3"" face=""Calibri"">" & _
[Code].....

I have a Form opening from Access Options. I would like to close this Form using the Timer. The following is the code I have used but it is not working.
Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Load()
OpenTimer = Timer
End Sub
Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Timer()
If (Timer - OpenTime) = 5 Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "Cover_Page_Form", acSaveYes
End Sub
Next question. If I can get this to work can I then use a DoCmd to open new Form within the code above or do I need a new process.

Here is basically what I have and what I need to do:
I have a form with several text boxes which are going to be filled in. Clicking on a button at the bottom of the form will save this information into a table (the table associated with the form). However, it also needs to fill in a junction table with two known values derived from these text boxes.
I have FILE_NUMBER_CD and INSPECTOR_NUMBER_CD that are the only attributes in the table called "XREF_FILE_INSPECTOR" which need to be added as new records.
So basically, what I need to know is how do I add known values derived from a textbox directly into a table.
Thanks for any help!

I have been tasked with creating a tool to analyse mobile phone bill data and present the analysis, and our recommendation, to a customers. Being new to Access (other than basic tuition) this has been a slow uphill task, which is finally nearing completion, however there is a problem which I have not yet been able to overcome.
The requirement is for the DB to open first on a splash screen (lets call it Form A) with fancy picture where our customer is selected from a combo box, the customer is then telephoned, a linked computer screen is established and our staff then click "Go" to proceed to a second form (Form B) showing an account overview and more details.
The problem I have is when "Go" is clicked, the second form loads via on click event, and even populates the correct customer in its combo box. Unfortunately that is as far as it gets - the combo does not look up the information. The customer needs to be selected again for the subforms and subreports to load with the customer overview. To clarify, form B just sits there blank until the customer is re-selcted from the combo box in form B.

Hi
I have a form, which displays data from a query recordsource.
One of the textboxes is a "Comments" textbox, which I would like the user to write in directly, which in turn is a direct link to the data in the table so it is updated immediately.
At the moment, the textbox does not seem to be editable. Is there a standard way to do something like this ?

As part of a larger system I currently have a standalone A2010 program which processes emails that it sees within Outlook. As my client is moving to Exchange Server I was wondering whether there was a better way of doing this by getting rid of Outlook and "talking" directly to Exchange.

In fact, I have one principal d/b running on my access, ad/b which I had imported from my iPad... The import went smoothly enough but I face this problem. I usually scroll the table in order to locate a patient's name.
I can't find a way to select this line and have it switched to a card view in order to update it. I need to move to card view, search from there in order to locate this person in card view. I am sure there is a way to select a line ( a record) in table view and jump from there directly into this record in card view.

I'd like to to import some large oracle tables from a remote server using "DoCmd.TransferDatabase..." on a daily basis. Currently, the system works, but my database is getting quite large (800 Mb) and I'd like to split off the tables to a back end database.
Is there a way to import directly to the back end database? The postings that I've seen seem to imply that one must first import the tables into my front end, then export them into the back end. Does that sound correct?
I'm at home right now, but will give it a try when I get to work. It just seems like there's got to be a more direct way!

Can you send a report directly to the printer? We have Clients with multiple Contact Notes, by multiple Clinicians, each of these are separate tables. Every month we print two reports for each client that had at least one contact in that date-range. Usually 200 clients, takes a lot of time. My approach so far is a query within a make-table query to get a list of unique client ID's that had one contact in the date-range. Then I use that table in code to create a recordset, use a Do Loop within that where I print the two reports for the 1st client, move to next record and loop. Now that I've got it working I'm not sure how to print all the reports My 1st question, can you send a report directly to the printer from code? The printer is a networked Konica Minolta Biz-hub so I think it can handle that many jobs being queued that fast.

I am having a problem getting any results from a query written with a msgbox parameter in the criteria. My query is supposed to look up a project number, and then report various information regarding that number. Here is my problem.
If I type the project number directly in to the "Criteria" cell in Design View it pulls the appropriate results. However, when I put [Enter Project Number] in the "Criteria" cell and insert the same number into the msgbox when I run the query I get no results at all. Any ideas?

I have a number of Excel spreadsheets (data sources) hosted on Sharepoint that I need to link to one single Access database.
At first. I cannot link the spreadsheets directly to Access because Access cannot read the spreadsheets on SharePoint to make the links.
Secondly, I can export the spreadsheets from SharePoint to a local folder on my PC and keep them 'refreshed'. The problem with this is that I cannot link Access to the local refreshed spreadsheets because of the (auto) extention .iqy. Access does not know the extention .iqy and hence the two cannot be linked at all.
Thus: How do I link an Excel spreadsheet hosted on SharePoint to MS Access.

I work at a hospital and I have been able to copy and paste data from a patient list into an Excel spreadsheet into a list I can customize to track patients I work with. I had a macro that would take the data copied and pasted and organize it in the way I needed it in a design that works for me.
I'm trying to convert this system to Access to give me more control over the data and to try and make the process of creating the list a little more automated. I also have an Access database for "tracking", which is required by hospital management so I was hoping I could use the patient list database to streamline the process of entering interactions into the tracking database.
I'm not sure how to get the copied and pasted patient list into an Access in a way that will let me manipulate it in Access to do what I want it to do without having to add several steps of a) pasting it into Excel, b) importing the spreadsheet into the Access database, and c) cleaning the data that ends up in the final Access table.
Is there a way to import data in a spreadsheet or table format directly from the clipboard, which would allow me to skip Excel altogether? I'm using Access and Excel 2010.
