I am trying to run a macro on doubleclick in a subform (dataview) that will open the same record in a popup form (tabular).
I've enter in the macro Where Condition the following statement to only show the record I doubleclicked on in the popup. The only problem is it's asking me for a parameter value for the LogID. Its apparently not picking up the LogID I doubleclicked on. Is there any way I can fine-tune this WHere statement so that it knows the record LogID I clicked on. (The pop up form should show only the same record).
I would like to create the following functionality on a form in my database:
When the form is open, and a record is displayed on the screen, I want to add a button that will open up a second form displaying information related to that record.
To be specific, I have a form called "Contracts". Each contract record contains a customer name in the field "Customers." I want to create a button labeled "Customer Details" that will open a new form, "ViewCustomers" displaying the record associated with the value entered in the "Customers" field for the current (displayed) record only.
I have been trying to use a hyperlink to a macro that uses "OpenForm," form name "ViewCustomers," but I don't know how to filter it down to just the current record.
I hope any of this makes sense. Any insight would be really helpful.
I have a form with a subform. Every time I open the form I want it to open to a new record in the subform (but not necessarily a new record in the main form; that will depend on some other stuff that I've already taken care of).I found a way to do that using the following VBA in the main form:
Private Sub Form_Current() Me.EventSubform.SetFocus DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec End Sub
It works great, but it causes Access to automatically scroll down to the start of the subform, blocking the view of information in the main form that the user needs to see. I've tried adding a line to Form_Current() to reset the focus to the main form but it doesn't seem to work.
I currently am trying to print the current record that I have selected on my form and the subform that I have on the same page. If I try to print selected record it will only print out the main form correctly and will print out the first record on the sub form. I have tried to make a reprot of the current form and it only will do the main form and nothing from the sub form. I am willing to try whatever method would work in getting this to work. Thanks
I have a form that displays details for a specific asset and a continuous subform that lists all the purchases for that asset. I have the following code in the On Click event for one of the fields in the subform:
Dim myOrder As Integer myOrder = Me.txtOrder DoCmd.OpenForm "frmOrders", acNormal, , "OrderID=" & Order, acFormEdit, , "Edit"
The problem is, when I click on any item in the subform, the code returns the value of the first item in the form rather than the one clicked on. If I open the subform on its own (outside the main form) then the code works fine. I can't figure out why it won't work in a subform.
The opening switchboard of my db is set to popup but on opening the db it is showing full screen. On reopening once closed it pops up. How can I make it popup to start with?
Settings are: Default View - Single Form Auto Centre - Yes Auto Resize - No Border Style - Dialog
I can't seem to get this to work. I have a Mainfrm with a Subfrm. On the Subfrm I have a field that has to be a concatenation of two inputs. To do this I have created a PopUpfrm for that field that has two list boxes. The user then chooses one from ListA and one from ListB. This populates an unbound field (fldCode) on the PopUpfrm. I need to pass this data to the original field on the Subfrm.
I've tried: Forms!Mainfrm!Subfrm.Form.Field1 = me.fldCode and every possible iteration of this that I can figure out.
Any suggestions on how to pass this information back to the Subfrm.Field1?
If I run just the Subfrm, w/o opening the Mainfrm everything works great. I guess I just don't know how to reference that field when it is actually in the Mainfrm.
I am using Access 2010 - Version 14.0.61.29.5000 (32-bit)
I am building a custom Export Wizard to export data to Excel using the Report Wizard for the basic ideas.
All I am trying to do is have a [Back] button on a form to open another form and close the current form.
Private Sub cmdBack_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_ExportWizardPage2", , , , , , Nz(Me.OpenArgs) DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_ExportWizardPage3" End Sub
The new form is opening but then the current form is not closing. All forms are the same size, shape and positioned centrally although this should not make any difference.
Could this be anything to do with which form has the focus when I open the new form?
I have a continuous Form [Letter Log - All] with "LetterNo" field as the primary key. What i want to do is click the "LetterNo" and a filtered pop up form with subform should appear based on what has been clicked. But i don't have luck doing that. The name of the main form is "LetterLog" and its subform control name is "LetterLogSub"
here is what i did.
Code:
Private Sub LetterNo_Click() 'DoCmd.OpenForm "LetterLogSub", acNormal, , "LetterNo = " & Me.LetterNo, acFormEdit, acDialog <-- this one works but without the subform 'DoCmd.OpenForm "LetterLog", acNormal, , "Forms!LetterLog!LeteterLogSub.Form.LetterNo = " & Me.LetterNo, acFormEdit, acDialog 'DoCmd.OpenForm "LetterLog", acNormal, "LetterNo", "me.LetterLogSub.Form!LetterNo = " & Me.LetterNo, acFormReadOnly, acDialog DoCmd.OpenForm "LetterLog", acNormal, "LetterNoFilter", "Forms!LetterLog!LetterLogSub.form!LetterNo = " & Me.LetterNo, acFormEdit, acDialog End Sub
I had a subform to enter payments. It worked well. The master and child fields linked well and all the necessary data appended to a new record in the payments table.
Now to make it more user friendly, I changed the subform to a popup form (The 2 forms took up too much real estate on the screen).I deleted the payments subform and created a command button to open the payments form as a popup.
I need 3 fields on the payments form to be populated from the edit sponsor form (sponsorID, MemberID, SponsorTypeID) and then payment details to be entered and posted to a new record in the payments table.Since I've changed the payment form from a subform to a popup form, the master/child relationships are gone and the 3 fields I need for the payment record no longer appear.
In my Student Administration database I am trying to launch a popup form from a sub-form of a Job Positions and Seekers form. The sub form is actually one of 2 sub-forms, both Continuous Forms default view, on a form linked via an unbound control (MasterJobPosID).
The first sub-form is called and lists open Job Positions and the 2nd sub form is called and lists all Students Seeking each of the positions. The Students Seeking subform is linked to the unbound control MasterJobPosID in the main form which is set to equal the Job Positions subform's JobPosRecNo field which is the key to the Job Positions table.
The popup form is called Job Employment and is being launched via an event macro from the Students Seeking subform. It will allow the user to create a record in the Job Employment table. The event macro has a Where statement that says "=JobPositionID And Student", an attempt to link it to both the Job Position record being filled and the Student filling it.
I am able to populate the popup form's fields in expressions setting Default Values equal to fields on the loaded Job Positions subform and the Student from the Students Seeking subform. What I am unable to get is the Job Position record key from any of the 3 fields it appears in on the Job Positions and Seekers form:
MasterJobPosID on the main form.JobPosRecNo on the Job Positions sub form.JobPositionID on the Students Seeking subform.
I want that to link the new Job employment record to the Job Position record the student is filling. In fact I get a parameter prompt for JobPositionID when the popup form is launched.
I have a main from named RequestChecks with two list boxes on it named ListDateii and ListDateiii .Also , there are two subfroms named OperatingAccountII and Operating AccountIII. tHE list boxes have master-child bound relation to the subforms .If user scroll ListDateii and highlight the date , the subfrom shows the resord associated with this date . And the same with ListDateiii. If it is possible, when a user opens the main form RequestChecks, the list boxes show only the date of the last record and consequently the subrofms show the last record.
Private Sub Form_Current() Dim rs As Recordset Set rs = OperatingAccountII.Form.RecordsetClone If rs.RecordCount Then rs.MoveLast MySubForm.Form.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark End If
I have done a search on this forum and found all the postings relating to printing only the current record for a report. I have a command button and have followed what these posts say. The report prints the current record but leaves out the data from the subform.
The database is a recipe organizer. The main form is called Recipes and the subform contains the ingredients for each recipe. This subform is called Ingredients.
I set up a command button with the following code:
Private Sub Print_Recipe_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Print_Recipe_Click
I have a small bug here which I can't seem to find a way round.
I have a subform setup to show Engineers assigned to a call. In the subform header I have a Command to add new Engineers. When this is pressed the form is changed to a Data Entry form to allow additions. This all works perfectly where there is an existing engineer on the Database.
The problem is with calls where there is no current engineer assigned.
With these calls I get an error popup saying "No Current Record" before the Data Entry screen comes up. Once the Data Entry screen comes up then an ID is assigned correctly and you can input fine so I am really just looking to see if there is a way to suppress the No Current Record popup.
I have synchronized a form with a subform with the following code:
Private Sub YourField_DoubleClick() 'this code is behind the subform Dim rs As Object Dim strLinkValue As String 'value in link field of the subform strLinkValue = Me![NameOfLinkFieldOnSubform].Value Set rs = Forms!YourMainForm.Recordset.Clone rs.FindFirst "[NameOfLinkFieldOnMainForm] = '" & strLinkValue & "'" Forms!YourMainForm.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark End Sub
Every thing works fine but now I would like that the row in subform remains selected in the subform when the user doubkeclicks the record in the subform.Now after doublecliking the subform highlight the first row.
I'm working on a database that has a subform which pulls its data from a table and I'm trying to use a popup form to enter the data in the sub form. For example the table is called student debts. The form is called student debt. The pop up form is called student debt entry from. I want the inform that's in the student debt entry form to be recorded in the student debt form which is a subform on the main form. I know i have to create a add new records button to do it but not sure of the code.
I have a form which contains a subform. On this subform, the user will enter several lines of container ID numbers. If one of these containers has errors, they check a yes/no box and a pop up form opens for them to enter the details of the errors.
I want two fields that are populated on the subform to transfer information to the corresponding two fields on the pop up form. This works when only one container ID has been added to the subform. However, when there are multiple containers in the subform and the container with the errors happens to be the second or third record on the subform, the pop up form always transfers the information from the first record to those fields.
I also have the subform requerying when the check box is checked so that the information saves to the table and the focus does stay on the correct record but the pop up form still opens with the wrong information.
how to transfer the information from the record that the user is currently on?
I have a popup called by a subform to add a new record or edit a selected record. I keep getting "Runtime error 32502". The value you entered isn't valid for the field "|"
I have no required fields and all the drop down related fields have the right value type in them (That I can find)The only "|" reference I can find is in the OpenArgs content below when I load the form. If I'm adding a new record I pass two fileds via the OpenArgs
Private Sub Command52_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "AddDebtorPaymentFrm", , , , acFormAdd, OpenArgs:=Me![DebtorId] & "|" & Me![MatterId] End Sub
or if I'm modifying a record from the subform on click I
Private Sub Text38_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "AddDebtorPaymentFrm", acNormal, , "[Transactions].[TransId] = " & Me.TransId, acFormEdit End Sub
Below is the Popup Load code
Private Sub Form_Load() If Me.DataEntry = True Then Me.VariableHeading = "Add A Debtor Payment"
I'm not sure how to search on this, even in the advanced search. If this has been answered, could you point me in the right direction?
I have a main form AddNewCompany (the infamous tab control that now works - thanks to your combined efforts). On it I have a command button that pops up a form of continuous forms with all the companies in the table (the query calls the CompanyID and CompanyName fields only). I have attached an image of the interface.
This means the user can see if the company already exists and doesn't enter it again. (I'm sure there are more effecient ways of doing this, but this is simple and it works. I also know key fields should be autonumbers instead of text, but I have reasons for doing it this way).
What I would like to be able to do is click on the CompanyID field and have the companies information show up in the main form.
I have a main form that has a tab control on it. The main form is called frm_AddNewCompanyContacts. It is opened in edit mode. To see if a company exists I use a command button to call a popup form with a list of all companies' IDs and names. I then want the user to be able to click on a commad button on the popup form to take the main form to that record. After an intial post, and subsequent search, I found the appropriate code. This is what I am using for the onclick event of the command button on the popup form:
Private Sub cmdGoToCompany_Click() Dim rst As Recordset Set rst = Forms![frm_AddNewCompanyContacts].RecordsetClone rst.FindFirst "[CompanyID]='" & Me![CompanyID] & "'" If rst.NoMatch = False Then Forms![frm_AddNewCompanyContacts].Bookmark = rst.Bookmark End If
End Sub
When I click on the command button I get an error message:
"The expression On Click you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Microsoft Office Access was communication with OLE server or ActiveX Control (I don't have an ActiveX Control).
*The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Even Procedure]. *There may have ben an error evaluating the function, event or macro."
I have a sub-form in a form that displays data that relates to the data in the single form. What I would like to do is double click on that record in the form which then opens a form that displays more of same data in the sub-form. I have created the double click action that opens a form, but shows all the data and not the specific information relating to the record that is selected in the orginal form.
I created a search form that searches for Customer Number, Part Number, and Revision Number. The results are displayed in a List Box.
I want the user to be able to make a selection on the List Box and click an "Open Selected" button that launches that record in another form. How is this possible?
I have a form (eg. frmMain) with a subform (eg. frmSub).
The subform is going to be a query which displays results based on criteria defined in the main form.
So say frmMain had a field called 'OrderDate'. When they typed an order date, all the orders on that date appear in the subform.
The way I have it set up at the moment is that the query criteria is like [forms]![frmMain]![orderdate]
Do this means that once the order date is entered - there is still no results in the subform because the query has already run when the form was opened and, as this field was then blank, no results were returned.
I would like to keep this setup, but - instead of having the subform set to the query, it would be set to another form which just has a commond button.
The user will then input the OrderDate - click the button (which is in the subform) and the query will run. This can be done easily. HOWEVER, is there a way for the query results to be displayed in that subform area after the button has been clicked instead of opening up a new form.
I know in web design you can target links to frames, so wondered if this was possible?
