Please Help!! Access Queries And Forms

Jun 19, 2006

Please help!!

I am creating a program that will allow the user to select a sale and pull up only those product items associated to that sale in the details. Any help would be appreciated. Then with in the details section the user will/should be able to enter in the Quantity needed to order. Any suggestions on how to do this. My tblSale does provide the data needed so how do I get the data to go to the form?

I am new to this forum so if I have not asked properly I apologise now.

The Database is attached. Form Orders is the form that I am using to accomplish my task. The getproducts4Sale Query is the information needed.

Data Access Forms And Queries

Apr 13, 2006

I have a query which shows data according to a field on a form. I am trying to get this across the department on the intranet, so I replicated the form as a data access page but i can't see how to link the Criteria row on the paricular column in my query with the field on my data Access form.

Am I missing something, like data access forms are only for displaying or something ? :o

How To Share Access Database Including Forms / Queries

Jun 9, 2015

I have an Acess database (2013). This will be used by several people within one company, they don't have their own server. I would use SharePoint Online, but it seems to me, that you only can "export" the tables. The database I have is quite a complicated system, and it is neccessary to use all the Access tools - forms, reports, queries. Not tables only.

Another idea is to split the database and "store" the backend part (the tables) on Sharepoint (Office 365 online version). And all the users would have their own frontend (forms, queries...) on their own PC, linked to this backend. Would this work? Can everyone add some entries into the database this way? How does it "synchronize" then?

Queries :: Unable To Open Or Design Queries From Older Access Files

Jan 1, 2014

Im trying to work on an db in Access 2007 that was migrated from Access 2003 (in fact its been migrated several times starting from Access 97). It executes and runs with no problems in both versions.
The problem is when trying to open some queries (not all) - Access is unable to open the query in design mode and gives me this error :

" is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.

However, as I cant open it - I cant check it. Im pretty sure none of the fields have invalid characters (they do have spaces) and Im not sure how long is too long....

Queries :: Access 2007 / 2010 - Combining Two Queries Into One?

Jan 24, 2014

I have two queries, one base upon the other. I would like to combine them (If Possible) into one query so I can embed them into a form or report. I have tried without success at finding the answer on the forum as well as searching the web.

The table lists employee numbers and dates they worked. I need a count of how many employees worked each year, based upon the paycheck date, not the actual date worked. Pay check dates are two weeks apart. An extreme example, is the first pay check date of 2010 was on 1/1/2010, but all the days worked were in 2009, this would have to be included in 2010 not 2009(See the query for further date calculation understanding). Anyway, the date calculations are not the issue here.

I only have one table, so if I am not mistaken, I can't use the WHERE (SELECT... JOIN) feature. I also was unsuccessful at using SQL DISTINCT.

I am running ACCESS 2010 Tables are ACCESS 2007.

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have included a same database with the queries. qryEmployeesAnually2 is the results I am trying to achieve.

Queries :: Access Multiple Queries Run With Date Parameter

Jun 19, 2015

I have 5 queries that I am running. The first query has the date range parameters set in the field area that I need to run and each additional create table query is based off the results of the previous query.

1. Which is better to use to run all of the queries in one simple step? A macro or a form? I am exporting the final table to excel so that I can make some additional adjustments off of it.

2. How would I setup the date range parameters for the first query if I were to use a macro without going into the query itself and updating the date field? I tried setting up a macro to run the queries by using the OpenQuery action for each of the 5 queries, but I cannot figure out how to do the date range.

Queries :: Update A Table / Run Queries Without MS Access?

Nov 18, 2014

I'm using Microsoft Access 2010. I want to create a database that people without Microsoft Access can use. If I create a database is it possible to use VBA in Excel to update a table in Access and then run/export a query? I know you can use Excel to communicate with MS Access but can you do it when you don't have MS Access installed on your computer?

I have daily sales data that I want someone without MS Access to be able to load into the database and then export a query from.

Queries :: Using Dynamic Crosstab Queries In Forms

Jan 21, 2014

I am building a database which tracks tasks assigned to employees. I want to have one of my forms displaying a view which shows at a glance which tasks are assigned to whom at what times of the day, with a click opening a task for editing. My current attempt is to create a crosstab query with the employees as the column headings ("dynamic crosstab" query) and a table of time values for the hours of the day providing the row headings, with the task as the value.

I then created a form based on the query with Datasheet view as the default view (apparently necessary to set properties/event handlers to query values. I got the idea from the Northwind sample database) However, the form fields do not update to reflect changes to the employee list and therefore the onClick handlers are not applied to newly added employees. What to do, besides for programmatically setting the event handlers?

Forms :: Couple Of Forms With Combo Boxes That Look Up Data In Queries

Sep 4, 2013

I have a couple forms with Combo boxes that look up data in queries. I noticed in testing that I could accidently type a "~" (and other characters) in the field and once I do, it causes a runtime error that shuts down the entire app (as opposed to letting the user backspace out of it or resetting the field). Before I put in some "Before Update" code to prevent the system from crashing, I want to make sure I am on the right track. I have already set the combo box to just show the list, not allow edits, limit to list, etc. Is there a way to prevent the user from doing this either by preventing the keyboard from working on combo boxes (not preferred) or by trapping it before the system crashes? I would think I could validate with a recordset, and create my own path out for the user, but I was hoping the combo box would have sort of done that work for me.

Forms :: Multi Select Listbox Access 2003 Code Gives Syntax Error In MS Access 2010

Oct 24, 2013

I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. Access 2010 keeps giving me a syntax error when I try to run the query & I don't know why:

My code is:

On Error GoTo Err_Command151_Click

' Declare variables
Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef
Dim varItem As Variant
Dim strCriteria As String
Dim strSQL As String

[Code] .....

The syntax error I get in Access 2010 is:

Syntax Error in query expression 'SELECT * FROM
qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK WHERE
qryContractListSummarybyDateContract3TYPEBREAK.Rep ortableName IN('Adbri
Masonry NSW');'

Forms :: Find Hex Or RGB Value For Blue Color That Access 2010 Uses By Default For Buttons On Forms?

Sep 5, 2014

Where can I find the Hex or RGB value for the blue colour that Access 2010 uses by default for buttons on forms? I need to change some buttons to yellow (I know the code for that) but later change them back to the previous shade of blue, which is shown in the Properties pane "Accent 1, Lighter 40%".

By clicking in the standard colors area at the bottom of the colour chooser I can find a very similar blue #D6DFEC but it doesn't look quite right. And the "accent" colour does not give me a Hex value. Is that "usual" blue even one colour? How can I reset a button to that style having changed it?

Forms :: Synchronizing Access Forms In Multi-User Environment

Dec 8, 2014

I am developing a small database for use in a multi-user environment: I have split the tables off and am testing with two copies of the front-end on different machines. All seems to work well except on one form.

On this form, the value of a bound control (exposed as a number of radio buttons) is used to make related controls on the form visible or invisible. I use the AfterUpdate event to trigger appropriate VBA code to accomplish this; it works well.

However if two users have the same form open at the same record (unlikely, but not impossible), and User A changes the value of the control via the radio buttons, Access will eventually propagate the change to User B's copy of the form but the AfterUpdate event will not be triggered and the form becomes inconsistent. I understand that events are only triggered when a user makes a change to a control; how can I be alerted when Access makes a change?

Forms :: Access Form With Tab Control Pages Each With Embedded Forms

Apr 13, 2013

I have an access form with tab control pages each with embedded forms. In one page I have a list of records as a datasheet form with the record identifier field configured as a hyperlink. When I click on this it passes its value to a form field in the form in the following tab page (works without the hyperlink but its a useful way of highlighting which field to click) which is a display/edit form of the details of the individual record. The Subroutine which does this sets the focus on this field it is passing the value to on the other form and the 'On Got Focus' event in that triggers the query that fills the editor form.

When I click back on the following tab to select another record to view/edit, the identifier value of the other record is passed to the other form but the data displayed in the rest form doesn't change. I understand this is because the field with the 'On Got Focus' never lost focus and so the query function was not called. To correct this I tried adding the same function call to the 'On Change' event however this does not work (the field is a text box set to 'locked' if that is relevant).I can get the form to do a new query properly if I click on a different field in the form before going back to the list tab or (as this is removing the focus allowing the On Got Focus to work again) if I click on a button to select a different record (which just takes me back to the list form).

Is there any way I can get this to work without having to manually remove the focus from the problem field? I have tried setting its On Got Focus event to move the focus to another field after the query function call however this prevents the Setfocus line in the code in the previous form from working. Here is a snippet of my code below. This code is for the list form and passes a value to the editing form:

Private Sub SalesID_Click()
Forms!Mainform.Requery
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form!Sales_Admin_SalesI D.Value = SalesID.Value
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form.SetFocus
Forms!Mainform!Sales_Admin_Form!Sales_Admin_SalesI D.SetFocus

[code]....

Forms :: Access Forms Validation Rules

Jul 19, 2015

I am doing an assignment and I am stuck at this validation rule. So in my database I 've got one table named horse and the rules I am supposed to set are these two:

1:A horse cannot be added that does not already have a Dam and Sire existing in the database unless either or both are not known.
2:A horse must not be deleted if it is the Sire or Dam of an existing horse.

I guess I am supposed to create a data entry form for table horse and apply these two rules in the form, but what should I do to achieve that? Seems a bit complicated cause the entering need to check some other fields (sire and dam) in the table..

My table looks like this

Horse_id Name Colour Sire Dam Born Died Gender
101 Flash white 201 301 2001 0 S
102 Star brown 201 302 2002 0 M
201 boxer grey 401 501 1991 0 S
301 Daisy white 401 502 1992 0 M

I know it might seem too simple to you but I am a full-time worker doing this online course. The consulting resouce for me and the time are both quite limited.

Forms :: Navigation Forms In Access 2010

Nov 20, 2014

I have a Main (Home) form that has a sub navigation form (frmNavigationSubform).Need to access 3 forms. Forms 1,2 and 3. Also, have 1 options form.

Subform has 2 Navigation buttons. NavigationButton2 and NavigationButton3.

NavigationButton 2 Navigation Target Name = 1 (frm #1).

NavigationButton 3 has no Navigation Target Name. This is passed on when user picks Option1 or Option2 form options pop screen.

Now I can pass the name to the Navigation Buttons2 but the subform does not show it. I have to click on the Navigation Buttons2 again for it to show. What I want is when the user makes the choice in the options screen the name is passed and form 2 or 3 should load/show.

ACCESS Queries?

May 8, 2007

I have a db, and in developing it, I've created hundreds and hundreds of queries.
Now as I am learning, I see that I can create queries "on the fly", with code like:

Dim cnnl As ADODB.Connection
Set cnnl = CurrentProject.Connection

Dim myRecordSet As New ADODB.Recordset
myRecordSet.ActiveConnection = cnnl

Dim mySQL As String
mySQL = "SELECT *"
mySQL = mySQL + " FROM tblCustomers"
mySQL = mySQL + " WHERE ((CustomerID = 1 ))"
myRecordSet.Open mySQL

Set myRecordSet = Nothing
Set cnnl = Nothing

My question is, do you think it's better to code the query on the fly like this, or to create them as permanent ACCESS objects, as I have done?

My feeling is, that the ADODB method is probably more efficient, and if I can delete those many existing queries, and create recordsets on the fly, only when needed, the db would be a LOT smaller, in terms of MB, becuse of all the objects I'll be able to delete from the Queries window. Or, are they relatively insignificant in terms of MB?

Or, should I adopt the "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DONT FIX IT" approach, because all those queries do work, and there are huge numbers of forms dependant on them.

The size IS a factor, the db is over 50MB now, and I'd like to optimize it.

Help With Queries In Access

Sep 22, 2004

Hello everyone. I have a few issues with access. I hope someone can help me. Here is my dilemma:

I currently use a database in ACCESS. In this database is a table of stored values. I currently run a single query called “Basic Search” to find certain values of the fields. I click the “!” button to execute and my values are presented to me.

Each time I want to find the value of certain fields, I have to open access, find the query, delete the last value that was in the “Basic Search” under the “criteria” field and search again.

Is it possible to create a single search web page on my client pc (not a server) that will access the database and display the results I requested? Also, is there a way to design a “Form” type page in access that I can use to run the query? All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott
