Populate Form

Jun 8, 2006

I have a simple question I am sure for others.

I have two forms.

Entry form--it is used to load data as well as I want it to be populated and show data when called upon.

Pending form--it shows all pending groups.

The pending form is a continuous form and it has a button with a double click event.

When that button is doubled click, I want the 'Entry Form' load and to be populated with the data that is in the Pending form.
The pending form only shows the EntryId(PK), Group name, and date. The 'Entry form' shows everything.

Since the entry form is used to add/update records in my tables, I wanted to use it to allow the user double click the record in the pending form and bring up that entry form for updating.

MAkeing a long story short, how do I populate the entry form with the records based on the entryID in the pending form.

I've attached a copy of the db incase I don't make sense.

Forms :: Populate Field In One Form From Text Box In Another Form

Jan 18, 2014

There are two forms invoolved in thi

pfrm_AddClientPrimary
pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck

On a command button in pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck I have the following code.

Code:
Private Sub cmdAddNewClient_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "pfrm_AddClientPrimary"
DoCmd.Close acForm, "pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck"
End Sub

This works great

On the onOpen event of the pfrm_AddClientPrimary form I have this code

Code:

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Me.FirstName = Forms!pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck!txtFirstName
Me.LastName = Forms!pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck!txtLastName
Me.SocialInsureanceNumber = Forms!pfrm_AddClientDuplicateCheck!txtSOcialInsureanceNumber
Me.FirstName.SetFocus
End Sub

This fails on the first line with this error
Run-time error 2147352567 (80020009)
You can't assign a value to this object

I am aware of the incorrect spelling of Me.SocialInsureanceNumber this is the way it is in the db.

Forms :: Pre-populate Popup Form After Update To Another Form

Aug 27, 2013

I have two tables - Interviews & Placements.these tables have multiple foreign keys which pull information from other tables (CandidateID,ClientID etc). I have designed queries and forms (datasheet view) which display all the values that I need, For example:

The interview form shows the following fields:
CandidateName;Company;consultant;1stInterviewDate; 2ndInterviewDate;Offer;Accepted

the placements form shows the following fields:
PlacedCandidate;Company;Consultant;PlacementDate;F ee;

This query "qry_Interviews" populates these forms using the foreign keys:

CandidateID from candidates table
CompanyID from companies table
consultant from consultants table

Ideally what I'd like to happen, is when the "accepted" field is updated on the interviews form, the placements form opens as a pop up and is auto populated with the values (CandidateName;Company & consultant).So far I have tried setting the value directly, i.e on the "on Open" event of the Placements form I entered:

Me.Txtcontactname = Forms!ISISnavigationMain!navigationSubform.Form!DS .Name

This does not work. Should I be populating the placements form with the actual Foreign key values rather than the resolved names? Ideally I'd want the pop up placements form to display the actual names rather than just ID numbers.

How do I (can I?) use the SQL in VBA to populate a text box in a similar manner? I have tried various versions of me.textbox = sqltext & Wclause etc, but to no avail.

Populate Form From Other Tables

Feb 27, 2005

I have 5 tables (Client, Driver, Appointment, LessonType & Booking). The Booking table is empty as it is made up from the other 4 tables. I want to have a form (Booking) which collects data from the 4 tables to create a record.

I want this to be automated as much as possible rather than typing the data into a textbox, because this would be difficult for the user and there would be conflict.

The Booking form will be split into 4 sections relevant to the above tables. For example, select ClientID from a combo and the other fields populate, such as forename, surname, address1, address2. And then select DriverID and this populates the relevant fields and so on, until a booking is created.

Ive tried After_update and couldnt get that to work. Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated as this has been a headache for a few weeks now. Thanks

Auto Populate Next Form

Nov 11, 2005

Hey all,

Maybe im just having a brain fart, but I cant get this method to work.

There are two forms, the first records Two Names, The Bride and The groom along with their wedding date and where they registered. After all the data is entered on the first form, the first form is closed, and the second one is open.

What I would like to do is pass the info from the first form on to the second one. The second one uses the bride's info and the wedding date.

I tried using the query to fill it in but I havent had any luck. Been a long day.. maybe just not thinking clearly.

Any help would be appreicated, and thank you in advance to any replies!

Thanks!

How To Populate A Form From A Combo Box

Oct 5, 2006

I'm creating a form that will have a combo box and several other fields on it. From the combo box, I want to be able to select a line from the combo box, click on the line and then have the form's other fields get populated.

I know I have to have the combo box and fields tied to either a table or to an underlying query, but what might be my best way to get the form populated?

Should I, in code tied to the form, run some coded SQL based on what I select and use the SQL results, or should I use something like recordsetclone, of which I have no experince?

Thanks inadvance to thoe who respond!! I reallyappreciate your help!!

Populate Three Tables From One Form

Aug 27, 2004

I am having the hardest time with this.

Tables: Employee Record
HR Record
Orientation Record
Certification Record
Optional Certifications

All are related.

I have a form where I do data entry, with all of the fields from these tables on the form.
I want to type in the name only once, at the top of the form, and then have it populate the
Name field in EACH of the above tables. Can anyone help me with this? I've been working on
it for two weeks now. I'm sure it's an easy fix that I haven't thought of.

I've already tried using subforms, but unless I type in the name in each of the subforms for
the above tables, I end up with blank name fields in all the tables, except for the one I pointed
the data to go to.

I'd be SO grateful if someone could help me figure this out. Thanks!

Populate Form Fields On Open

Aug 7, 2006

Hi all,

I'm sure this must be a well used function by many access users but I can't find anything about it online at all - please help!

I want to open a subform "AddReservation" and populate three fields with data taken from the relevant record in the main form. So in the btnOpenAddReservation_Click event to open the subform I set global variables, then in the form_open event I have this:

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)

Me.CatID = stLinkCatID
Me.CatName = stLinkCatName
Me.OwnerID = stLinkOwnerID

End Sub

But I get the error 2448 'Can't assign a value to this object'.

However if I put the same three lines into the start of the subform's btnARSave_Click event it works fine:

Private Sub btnARSave_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_btnARSave_Click

Dim stDocName As String
Dim stDocName2 As String
stDocName = "OwnersAndCats"
stDocName2 = "AddReservation"

Me.CatID = stLinkCatID
Me.CatName = stLinkCatName
Me.OwnerID = stLinkOwnerID

DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, acSaveRecord, , acMenuVer70

YesNo = MsgBox("This reservation has been added successfully, do you want to add another?", vbYesNo + vbQuestion, "Add More Reservations?")
Select Case YesNo
Case vbYes
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
Case vbNo
DoCmd.Close acForm, stDocName2
DoCmd.Close acForm, stDocName
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acGoTo, stRecordNo
End Select

Exit_btnARSave_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_btnARSave_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_btnARSave_Click

End Sub

What am I doing wrong? Why can't I populate the fields on open?

Many thanks
PT

Auto-populate Form Field!

May 2, 2005

Hi, just a quick question that i hopes not too hard.

Basically i want one of the fields on my form to get automiatically filled in. I'd like it to take the first letter from one field and the first letter from another field. What im trying to do is make a primary key field up from other fields they have entered.

So for adding new customer i want it to take the firstletter of the firstname and first let of the surname.

SO for myself Luke Tarrant it would be LT. Then i suppose i'll need to add some unique so there no duplicates as it a primary key field im trying to populate.

So for instance Luke Tarrant would = L + T +001

Then Lucy Tarrant would = L + T + 002

Any help wouild be brill!

Populate Form Fields From A Combo

Jul 30, 2005

Trying to update fields (bound) on a form (built using the wizard) from value selected in a combo box. I can get this to work with unbound text boxes using an After Update event handler and a code query along the lines of:

Me!TxtJobCode1 = Me!CboJobDesc.Column(1)

But this doesn't work where the form field is bound to a table.

So qu is - how do I achieve the same result using table fields instead of text boxes?

I could use text boxes but not sure then how I can save that data as a record in the table if it is not bound to fields.

Any help appreciated
