I have a client table with a field called location. On a reports form that I have, I want to make a combobox for all of the locations, so it could show all the clients from a particular location and also it would reduce the errors due to someone spelling a place name wrong. I could set the source to the location field in the table, but that would show them all in the order they come out and there would be duplicates.
I am trying to populate fields from one table into another field in a linked table. Specifically, I have a giving table and a persons table. I have the giving table have the persons primary ID field in the giving table. I cannot seem to automatically link them if I am adding a "gift" record. The gift is a dollar amount given by that person. I have a unique primary key for each financial contribution which is supposed to be tied to a person's primary key and last name in my "person" table. Am I missing something in this design?
I am generating a report from my database that I would like to turn into an invoice. My report generates perfectly, but I need to add an invoice number when I print the report and I need to take the data Customer ID, Invoice Total, and a maybe other data from the report and populate the Invoice Record table. I have VB code that is generating my Invoice No, creating a new record in the Invoice Record table and populating the Invoice Record Table with the Invoice number. I want to add this Invoice No to my report at time of printing, and populate the Invoice Record Table with the fields from the report as stated above.
Hi all ... been awhile since I have had to create a database so I have gotten a little rusty. :eek: I have a form where some of the fields I have formulated to calculate an amount. Example... =[GrossAmt]*[FeePercent] This is calculating into the form correctly but not writing to my table for that field. What am I doing wrong or missing here?
I am trying to improve the performance (loading time) of my main form. The big tip seems to be use SQL in VBA to populate subforms and comboboxes when needed, rather than when the main form loads.
I have a combobox configured for 2 columns, bound column = 1 and column widths set at 2cm each. After a struggle, I have managed to get the combo box to populate with SQL, but only for the first column. My second column appears when I click the down arrow but there is no data showing.
How do I tell the SQL to place the 'Identifier' data in the second column of my combobox? :confused:

I want to know a way of populating unbound textboxes with data from a table without using the easy assigning data in the property of the box. I want it to be all done with code, which to me isnt a huge deal but I've yet to find answers on the web pertaining to this issue.
for example:
Say i was searching a primary key in one box and based on what ever is typed in i'd like it to populate the rest of the textboxes.
I am trying to create the form so when the first field (Start Date) has a date selected, it limits the following field (Report Date) to the matching available data, and same with the third field (Production Division) on the previous two.
I also need the form to allow new dates / production division combinations, but not duplicate.
I starting working with a cascade function but got confused and not sure if that is where I should be headed.

I am trying to setup a database in order to demonstrate a tie in between active directory and the HR side of a business.As such, I would like to select two fields from drop down menus that reference in Department and Location tables, but use this data to actually Populate the Personnel Records table rather than Query.I know this is not normally best practice from a DBA perspective.

I have three comboboxes on a form – Fabric, Degree, Color. The row source type for each is Table/Query. The row source is a Select Distinct query. I’m using a query so the list will populate itself. The choices the user makes in the comboboxes are used to filter called forms.
Would there be a way to include the word “ALL” in a drop down list in addition to the data generated by my query. If the user chooses “ALL”, the called page will not be filtered on that particular choice. I just created a record with “ALL” in those particular fields. That seems to work, but I think there might be another way.
I have a list of 22 soccer players with their weights sorted from heaviest to lightest in numerical order. I want to add further players and have the list reflect their standing each time it changes i.e. Col 1 Player ID, Col2 FirstName, Col 2 SecondName, Col 3 Mass:90 Kgs Col 4 Position In group: 1
A new player registers and is 95Kg.....he becomes #1 and the rest go down etc. Can this be done?
I have a form that contains a combobox. I want the default value for this combobox to be the Staff_ID of the first forename to appear in a table when sorted alphabetically.
The table I'm querying is called 'Staff'. Fields within are 'Staff_ID', 'Forename', 'Surname'. The table is sorted by 'Forename' in ascending order.
From the example tables below I would expect to return a value of '3' for example 1 and '9' for example 2.

I'm trying to populate a listbox from a recordset. I will explain what I'm trying to achieve.
I have a (continuous) form with some data from a table. On the form header I have a listbox, showing all (distinct) customers from that form.
The user is able to do some filtering. That all works great. But I want to populate the listbox with ONLY the customers on the form AFTER filtering.
One way I thought might me the solution was using RecordClone. But I'm stuck there. It must be something simple for an expert. I'm not entirely a newbie, at least not to VBA. Is there an easy way to refer the listbox' recordset to the actual recordset on the form?
I'm populating an unbound ComboBox with a Query via the QueryDesigner. The value of the Rowsource depends on the value of another ComboBox at the main Form.

I have a table of raw materials that have two fields, their stock code and longer description.
I have another table that is tracking the usage of these materials. I want both the stock code and longer description to be recorded in the usage table.
I want the "Description" field in the usage table form to auto populate when the user selects the corresponding stockcode from a combobox.
I setup a combo box where I specify the data to be pulled from a table. The table just contains the primary key (id) and a name, which is what I want loaded in the combobox pulldown.
When I run the form, the names appear but when I select, the id is written to the table instead of the name.
What settings am I missing and why is it taking the id instead of the name ?
I am creating an Access program for logging in Parcels that are delivered and I am having some problems.
I have a Table called 'Contacts' and within this there are 4 Columns: 'Names', 'Departments', 'Extensions' and 'Emails'.
I also have a Form and there is 1 Combobox and 3 Textboxes relating to this Table: 'Addressed To', 'Department', 'Ext Number' & 'Email'. (see http://c0ld.homeip.net/parcel_log.jpg for details).
What I would like to do is select the Name from the Combobox (Addressed To) and the have the other Textboxes (Department, Ext Number & Email) get auto-filled with the corresponding data that’s within the Table for that Name.

Right now I have a subform with a combobox that pulls it's data from a table. I want the user to either select an existing item or type in a new item and have a macro create the new table row. What I have right now works in the sense that it prompts the user if they want to creat a new item and the new item is created (and I can see it in the combobox list), but I'm still getting an error saying that the item does not exist in the table forcing the user to manually select the newly created list item they just typed in.

It appears that the new item doesn't always show up automatically and requires the form to be refreshed, so now I need to figure out how to get it to consistently appear right away without a refresh.
I have a main form[frmResearchNotes] with combo box controls that filters a query populating [subfrmNotelist] containing several records from the filtered query. From there, I double click on a field within one of the remaining records, [CompanyName] for example, and it opens the new form[frmNoteDetail]. The problem is that second form is not displaying that selected record. The second form's record source has been set to the same query so when it loads, it displays the same info but it's displaying the 1st record out of the entire filtered list, not the record I clicked on in that list.
I figured I could use the strWhere function to copy the record I selected in the event procedure and then open the new form with those details. Not sure how to actually do this with VBA or if it's even the correct approach.
What I have is a database setup with multiple tables in which different areas of my DC can input information simultaneously into their respective tables. I then have another database linked to it for myself to have a live view of each updated record. I would like to see all the records of each table in 1 single table (possibly just sorted ascending by time). Each table has the same Field headings but may have different qtys of records. As I will then have it linked to an Excel table to VLOOKUP from it.

I have a library forms database full of names of tapes and CDs, like a library. I also have an order form database. I would like to toggle between the library and order form pulling information from the library directly into the order form. I need help
I have a table that has the part number, the description, and the usage.
I am stumped on trying to get just the 2 fields to populate into this subform (datasheet view), when the part number is selected. I may have several lines of part numbers. How do I go about populating this form? The user will indicate the actual quantity. The quantity changes per order, yet the usage stays the same.

When you open the form, it asks for a tool # (which will be a drop-down box). There will be a command button that will bring up a sub-form. In the subform, there are 2 combo boxes. One picks the group that the tool falls under, and the other has the section of the group for the tool.
When the user picks the section, I need it to filter the questions that pertain to that section (which is listed in a list table), and pull those questions, and populate the master table with them. (i.e., Pulls "where is tool?" from tblQuestions, and puts it in the tblQuestionMaster when section is selected from combobox). :confused:
