When i create a table from scratch there is always a record and also when i run a query on the table there is always an empty record at the last line. Is there anyway to i cant get rid of it or hide it. it can be confusing and the user might add line that not suppose to be there.
i removed the DIsTINCT in my query to move some field to be updateable on the form. Once I did that my detail section of my form was empty ..why and how do I fix this problem.
I'm trying to make a form that shows what the last record was next to the empty space where you enter a new record.
This is so the user knows that what they are entering is roughly in line with what has come before.
So for example if I was recording temperature every May, I would like a form that has a field called temperature and next to that field I would like to see last year's temperature.
I am trying to create a form in Access 2003, to view / create entries into a table - but the "new record" button appears to be greyed out when the table is completely empty. When I create an identical form that queries an identical table (except that it has several records already setup) I can add new records as much as I like. Is this normal? Any way of getting round this?
The problem is that I'm trying to add records to a table that is regularly polled by a DTS. Every 15 mins, this reads then deletes any entries - hence the table is generally empty. Apologies if this is a basic question, I'm very new to Access :)
I have a query that updates 1 field in tableA which is the sum of values from 3 other related tables. However, when 1 of the 3 tables has a record count of 0 then the query does not work??? How can I update tableA excluding tables with record count <1 ?
Not sure when this happened, but when I open my form, it opens to a empty record (all fields and subforms, etc. are there). There is no Record ID and when I attempt to delete it, I get a message "The search key was not found in any record."
When I use the record selector to advance, it goes to the first alphabetized name record. The find and search works fine, I can add or delete other records, perform filters, etc.
Everythings seems normal, all records, tables, forms, reports, are fine.
I have a "problem" in my database. I have a form, as you can see in the attachment. On that form I can choose different installations to which a spare part belongs to, but in that same list of installations it always shows a name of the first installation in the dropdown list. (a default record) This can cause some confussion, because you see the name in the list, although it doesn't belong there.
How can I fix this?
PS : If I'm not clear about my problem, pls say so, my English is not may native language.
In a continuous form, I know you can groupby in descending order. If you do this on a date field, then the newest record appears at the top. How do I make the blank record for entering new records appear at the top of the form instead of the bottom. Thank you.
I am currently creating a database using MS Access and I am having trouble linking the forms in the way I require. I have created the two forms and have linked them successfully. The first form is a menu which then accesses the second form which will be used to store records. The problem that I have is that each time I access the second form it always goes to the first record which has already been used. This means people have to scroll through until they find the next blank record. How do I create the link so that it always goes to an unused record:confused: .
I am currently working on a database and I'm using a form to view the records. A standard Access behavior is to show an empty record (new record) as the last one. is there a way to disable this "feature". I would like my form to display only the records, which are really filled with data and not show the blank one at the end??
I have a report that has the addresses from the client and auditor on the same level. The address of the auditor is on the left side and the client on the right side. They have both the same layout:
Auditor - client Attn auditor - attn client etc.
When the Attn for the auditor is empty, it will show and empty space between auditor name and auditor address. All the fields have the can shrink to yes, but if they are on the same level in the report, the one have text in it, forces the empty space.
I have a main form with two unbound text boxes that filter a subform with a select query in the record source. The problem is that it only works sometimes.when I copy and paste the SQL into a query instead of the form it works all the time. for example when I open the query and the form side by side with the same SQL the form does not show results but the Query does, and yes I have "requeried" both of them after entering criteria into the unbound text boxes.
I have a form in my db and i would like it to show me a warning message if a specific field in a record is empty or even better not to allow me to close the form. I would like to have this in order to avoid incomplete data.
How do I remove a record selector from a subform? I went to the actual form for the subform and went into design view. I changed the record selector to NO and it is still there.
How can I remove a Recording-Locking file without re-booting the computer? I've tried cut and copy and paste, with no results. No one is using the mdb file, but it has a record locking file associated with it.
I am needing to compare some information in a way I cant with the normal Unmatched Query.
I have 2 tables with the fields:
| PHONE1 | PHONE2 | FIRST | LAST |
What I need to do is have Table 2 check against Table 1 to see if any of the 'PHONE1' records match 'PHONE1' or 'PHONE2,' and if they do have them remove just the information from PHONE1, not the entire record.
Then I would have to repeat the process to do this with PHONE2. Having it check against 'PHONE1' and 'PHONE2' in Table1.
If both PHONE1 and PHONE2 have a match, the entire record would be deleted. If not, it would keep whichever did not match.
I am currently having to do this manually, because if I just run an Unmatched Query it gets rid of the whole record regardless of if PHONE2 is a good number or not.
If any more information is needed, let me know. Like I said, Im relatively new to working in Access and dont know much.
I have a database For customers of the company, when you open the main form through the search form , there are a filter . when you try to move between orders of this customer, there are a mssage (Asking you to approve of movement between the customer orders). to this point no problem, when you approval to move , cancel the filter on the main form with a stay at the current record (current customer).
I have an unbound form with three tabs. On each tab there is a sub form. Each tab is a search form and each sub is a results returned. I have made everything unbound and set the sub form recordsource and its controls control souce on afterupdate of the main form search criteria. Works fine except for after some use the db decides the sub forms are not unbound and sets the record source and control sources.
Hello World:I have two tables, one called Assets and the other table called Job Sites. the Assets table has several fieldsAssetID - autonumberplus othersthe Job Sites table has two fieldsJobSiteID - autonumberJobSite - text (with about 22 names in it)the I add the JobSite to the Assets table (hiding the JobSiteID) it shows me the expected drop down box but it is BLANK. If I click on any of the BLANK spaces in the drop down, it populates the field. It is behaving as if the font color was white.Any ideas??? I am baffled.
I have just created a query so that I may base my report on it. The query ties together 4 tables. I only included the fields that will be in my report. I created the report using the wizard and used my new query as the source but it does not want to work. I tried opening the query and it was empty even though I have entries in the database.
I'm trying something quite simple, adding dates into a table with the aid of an action SQL statement (INsert Into) in VBA.
However, if a date is empty, the value 12:00:00 AM is filled in! I really want that if it a date is set to empty, that noting is added to the table... I can use an if statement though, to fix it, but why does it fill in 12:00:00 AM if a date is empty?? Can you fix it? Or is there no other way?
I have a query that appends records to a table with a constant numer of fields. so sometimes I have fields with no data. is there any way to create query which selects only fields with data.
I am trying to make a query with two tables. Each row consist of a student ID, their name and all their personal information. Both tables are exactly the same. But one table is a link table. That link table gets update every so often from an outside program and the other table is not linked. I want to be able to run a query that updates certain fields called "address changes". I have figured out how to find the updates, but I am having a problem with a field that is blank. If I have a field in the non-linked table that is empty but there is information in the linked table, it does not see it. Is there a way to get around this empty field problem?
I have been going back in a db to the beginning of time and restructuring...I have a field sales person if its null I need to assign a value of 100 to another field representativeid, I have been using the update query to accomplish the update until now. I've tried is null and "" to get this query to update, any idea?
