I have a tabular sub form, which is just used to show the user data. It is not editable, and the user can not do anything on the form other than choose a record from the PK, and thenview the data.
How can I prevent the a blank row from automatically being added to the bottom of the subform. I only want rows with data in them to be shown.
I have a form that is opened by the following code: Private Sub Status_AfterUpdate() If Status.Value = "WIP - Snagged" Or Status.Value = "WIP - Suspended" Then DoCmd.OpenForm "NotesJobChanged", , , acFormAdd Forms!NotesJobChanged!txtJobNo.Value = Me!txtJobNo.Value Forms!NotesJobChanged!Date.SetFocus End If
This 'NotesJobChanged' form has three text boxes on it - JobNo, Date & Note. The JobNo is autofilled from the code above. If nothing is entered into the other fields and the form is closed this record is entered into the database with only the JobNo filled in.
What I want is a way to force the user to enter data into these fields. I don't want to set the 'Required' property of the field to yes as it generates an awful system error message. If the user attempts to close the form without filling it out can they be reminded that they have to, but with an option then to close the form if they really don't want to enter any data? If they do chose to close without filling it out can it be prevented from being added to the database.
I'm trying to prevent use of the scroll wheel in my subforms but allow for it in the main form. I've looked at the "mousetrap" posted by gHudson. I'm not trying to prevent changes as I am trying to prevent a blank or new record from displaying if one already exists. Any Ideas on how to do this?
I have a mainform, which contains a subform. The mainform is bound via the recordsource-property to a query. The subform is NOT bound to any recordsource and is NOT 'bound' to the mainform in any way. It is just beeing displayed (i use it for custom filter technics).
My problem is now: When i switch the mainform to the datasheetview, i will have (unluckily) the possibility to 'expand' each recordset via the plus-symbol on the left side of each record. When i do this, my subform will be displayed. But i don't want that! My target would be, to tell the mainform not to show the subform in it's datasheetview, or better, not to display the plus-symbol at all.
I have a mainform (F_main) and a subform associated (F_place).
F_place is the form of the table T_place. T_place is linked to F_main by the field "BizNumber". I also have the field "Place" and of course the "Place ID" (primary key) in T_place.
"Place" in linked to a combobox (in F_place).I want to avoid, at a given "BizNumber", the same "place" to be entered in the F_place.
Hi, Mainform and Subform are linked on field "barcode".
Barcode is the primary key for the table that Mainform is based on.
When user is entering a new record, I have the BeforeUpdate event of Mainform.barcode set to check to see if the barcode already exists in the table, and if so, to give the user some meaningful error message.
Works fine, except that the subform still updates to match the invalid, previously-used barcode. I want the subform to stay blank until the user has entered valid data in MainForm.
I have a main form with many subforms. The sub forms are all continuous but one and I want the editors to be able to put in more then one record if needed. My problem is I have my tabs set up so that when the box is empty it will tab to the next subform. When I do this, a extra blank record is automatically saved in the subform above. How do I get rid of the blank record? Thank you in advance for any advice shared.
ok, i have a subform and when i'm on the last field in the form and hit tab it clears the form, BUT if i go off that record and come back to it the datas there. thanx
I need to suppress/hide a blank row on a subform. The Main form is based on a table, contains Site Header information The Subform is based on another table containing Sample Details records
Site Header table to Sample Details table relation ship is one-to-many, with two key fields SiteID and SiteVisitDate
The Form/SubForm is linked by SiteID, SiteVisitDate
The form adds one record to the Site Header Table. Then adds mutliple records to the Sample Details table for that SiteID. Some fields are populated with a script, while others are populated by user input
An empty/blank/new row always appears on the subform before & after the Sample Details are added. The blank row Before new records are added is not a problem but when it appears after new records are added is a pain
I have a small bug here which I can't seem to find a way round.
I have a subform setup to show Engineers assigned to a call. In the subform header I have a Command to add new Engineers. When this is pressed the form is changed to a Data Entry form to allow additions. This all works perfectly where there is an existing engineer on the Database.
The problem is with calls where there is no current engineer assigned.
With these calls I get an error popup saying "No Current Record" before the Data Entry screen comes up. Once the Data Entry screen comes up then an ID is assigned correctly and you can input fine so I am really just looking to see if there is a way to suppress the No Current Record popup.
I have an Access 2000 form containing several subforms that needs printing on a regular basis, which works fine when the subform contains data, but sometimes the subforms contain null values. We want to print the subforms without the data to maintain consistency, but when printed they have disappeared and a blank space in the form is printed. The subforms view perfectly in print preview... any help would be appreciated, I have spent a good deal of time researching this issue without any leads
I have a subform that stays in data sheet view for entry, the form this sits on is launched by a macro. This macro on the main form launches the form and adds in the linking numbers by a setvalue. The main form has the linked number on it and this number is then linked by master and child to the subform. The problem comes in when you start adding in data. The line of data is filled by using combo boxes and some text fields and ends with a time/date stamp Now(). The problem is, even if you dont fill the entire line if a user refreshes or closes the form it adds a blank entry with the linking number but all fields blank.
I have a form with a subform. The subform is used to report a sales total, for today and for the month. When there are no sales today (a null result in one of the fields) the entire subform goes blank.
How can I make it report a zero in the field instead of blanking the entire subform?
I have a main form where the user chooses a BoxID. There is a subform on this main form that has a relationship between BoxID on the main form and subform. The users are entering data in the subform and when they have entered 10 lines of info I have a message that tells them to start a new box (I could not work out how to do it any other way as I lack VB skills). The user closes the form or clicks add new record to create a new box. If I view the previous record there should only be 10 lines of information in the subform but there are 11 as it takes the blank line as a new record....
My title is a little confusing, i have a form with a subform, what I want it to do is this say i have 10 records, 3 of which are missing any data in the subform... then when i show the form it only shows 7 records. This way all records have data in both the main form and the subform... is this possible?
I have a [Order Central table] that compiles products from four different categories that employees can order from.
Employees using the database will select from four categories on buttons which opens up the order form EX: [Category 1 form].
They enter their order info on [Category 1 form] into a subform sourced from [Category 1 Table] called [Category 1 subform].
Is there a way that they could select the "Category 1" button, which would run a macro opening [Category 1 form] with the [Category 1 subform] having a where condition of 1=0 (or just so that the subform appears blank)?
I have a form with a continuous subform whose RecordSource is a predefined query. There are a number of controls on the main form which allow for various filtering on the subform / query and a command button to export the data to Excel.Because I want to export exactly whatever the user has filtered using the form, I take a clone of the subform recordset and pass that as a recordset object to my export function.
I've just noticed, however, that a couple of the fields in the Excel spreadsheet are always blank, even though the corresponding records on the subform show values? I can't figure out why; there is nothing unusual or distinctive about these fields (2 x Text and 1 x Date/Time) other than the fact that the contents don't seem to copy? I do get the field names - just no data for them?
The data is visible in the subform, and when I run the query on its own, the fields are populated in the returned dataset as well? So why aren't they included in the RecordsetClone?
I am trying to show a certain subform based on whether or not a field is blank or null. This database is not owned by me--it's what we use to run queries and reports on the data on a centralized server for the library. It's not even in the same city--so changing the tables is not an option for me.
So, I have a subform (subform1) that is linked to the main form based on 2 fields (BibID and Item_Enum). The trouble is that the second field (Item_Enum) is sometimes blank, so the subform will not display. So I created another subform (subform2), which is a duplicate of the first one, but this time only linked on the first field (BibID). So, if that second field (Item_Enum) is blank, I want subform2 to display and subform1 to be hidden. If the second field (Item_Enum) is not blank, I want subform1 to display, and subform2 to be hidden.
I've tried putting the VBA code on different events for the form, but I can't get it to work consistently.
There are two problems, one of which I think I have fixed--but I would prefer a better solution. The VBA code doesn't run unless the form is newly loaded. I've tried placing the VBA code on different form events, but nothing works. I want the code to activate whenever a new record is displayed. The work around is that the form IS newly loaded every time the user scans a barcode for a new book. That works now, but if I need to change the way the user looks up new records, this might not work anymore.
The second problem is that the VBA code doesn't display subform1 when Item_Enum is blank. It doesn't display subform2 either, but that's the desired result.
Private Sub Form_Load() If Me.ITEM_ENUM = "*" Then Me.subform2.Visible = False Me.subform1.Visible = True Else Me.subform2.Visible = True Me.subform1.Visible = False End If End Sub
I've tried changing the condition to Me.Item_Enum = null, and changing the false/true results accordingly, but that didn't work either. In that case, only subform2 is visible, whether it should be or not.
I have a subform with a textbox in the footer to count[id]. then on my main form i have another textbox that has a control source of =[subform].[form]![subformfootercontrol].
However when the subform updates the main form text is blank. typically i see a ?#Name or#Error if the control is pointing to the wrong place, but i have never see it stay blank.
In the Purchase Order details form a Supplier has to be chosen via a combo box. Based on that another combo box in the subform displays products only from this supplier (Products table is linked to supplier table).
I managed to let the subform combo show only relevant products using criteria referring to the main form combo box. Also other product data will show accordingly in text boxes. So far so good.
However when I close the form and reopen it the subform combo box is blank, other text boxes still show the right values. If I remove the filter criteria for the subform combo then all fields show all data correctly. (However the combo box is unfiltered again 8-/)
So somehow the 'criteria' prevents the combo to show the value that was previously chosen.
The unbound Parent form has a listbox (SQL Server) , the selection updates the SubForm with a primary key ID. The Subform is a ReadOnly view from an Oracle Linked table. It populates with a Select * From Oracleview where ID = listboxID The code is at the link shown below update: The subform uses textboxes linked to the read-only record.
The main form can populate, no problem. However the SubForm data source is either populated OR is Null.
If it is Null, the subform stays blank. Two Objectives:
1. Set a boolean variable flag in the parent (main form) that subform record exist or that it is null. e.g. Parent obtain recordset count property from Sub form 2. Display the subform with blanks.
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to Access, but have managed to create a form with a subform embedded and various filters to show different data within the subform, including a date range filter. The code I have used for these filters is as follows:
Private Sub Command40_Click() Dim strCriteria As String
This all works fine, but I'm wondering what I need to add to this code to make it so that if the date boxes are left blank, records from all dates are displayed. At the moment I have to enter dates in order for it to work properly.
I have a couple different reference files that get updated each week. Sometimes there are missing data elements, so I'd like to structure a select query to show me those records that have blank elements but I'd like the similar records to be pulled in as well, so I can make a determination as to how to populate the blank records..
See attached example: I have a client ID reference table that gets populated with forecast owner names (individuals responsible for the customer) from a couple of different sources. Sometimes there are names attached and sometimes the field is blank.
How can I structure a query to show me just those Client ID's that have multiple entries with blank AND non-blank forecast owners? I'd also like to exclude single/multiple records where there are only blank records...
OK, I have been searching around on the fourm for over an hour now...I give up. If this is some where else, I am sorry.
I have a database of maintenance data. There are several columns that are usually filled in, some records have some columns blank. They are formated text because they hold letters and numbers (see pic).
I am using a form to query the table...no problem. The form has text boxes the user filter down the data
The problem comes are with the results of the query. Any record that has a blank column is not retuned. I am using "Like" so that the user can enter in partial codes. I know "like" won't return "null" records.... Help!
Things I have tried: 1)IIF(form field is blank, return table field, else use like command to filter) - returns nothing! 2)Like "*" & [Forms]![Fleetwide_data_Request]![MAL_CD] & "*" returns all records without blanks (i.e. missing data)
I have been running the same database on numerous systems for 5 years and the user clicks on a button and using this code;
DoCmd.OpenForm "Employee", acNormal
Simple !, this always opened this form blank, without applying filters, ready to accept a new employees details.
But now this no longer works, for no apparent reason? What happens is that it opens with the form fields filled with the first person in the Databases details instead of being blank.
The only thing that could have changed is that i converted the database to 2003?
When entering information into a blank form, I would like to be able to continue entering information to another additional blank form after my last entry. Is there a way to continue to a blank form after entering information into the previous blank form? I would just like to continue without having to close the entire form and then reopening another form.
