I need to prevent a form from opening if
no data (no picture) is found in an image
control on the form that needs to be
opened.
The form is opened in this manner:
DoCmd OpenForm StDocName,,,stLinkCriteria
Certain records will not have a picture so the
form doesn't need to be opended.
I'm trying to protect the frontend of my database from unwanted changes. How to disable the navigation pane, ribbon, and only display my navigation form. My navigation form has 10 buttons that open forms for data entry. I only want the users to be able to open forms and add data. I don't want them to be able to go to the navigation pane or anything other than the forms.
I've got a form/subform showing employee/position details. I've disabled the regular record navigation buttons and put in ones of my own. If I'm advancing through all the position records for a particular employee using the next record button, when it gets to the last record, the next button advances to a new blank record. Because I'm prepopulating new record fields with previous record values, the users sometimes don't realize they've just created a new record. Is there a way to advance through records without advancing past the last record into a new blank record? I still need the ability to add new records on this form using the add record button I've created.
I have a Form opening from Access Options. I would like to close this Form using the Timer. The following is the code I have used but it is not working.
Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Load() OpenTimer = Timer End Sub Private Sub Cover_Page_Form_Timer() If (Timer - OpenTime) = 5 Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "Cover_Page_Form", acSaveYes End Sub
Next question. If I can get this to work can I then use a DoCmd to open new Form within the code above or do I need a new process.
I have a split form that's like a list of pending tasks. The data source is a linked SharePoint 2013 list where users submit requests. The user takes the information from each record and performs an action. When it is done, the user presses a button and the task status changes from "Pending" to "Processed". The form record source is based on a query that finds only records with a status of "Pending" so when the user changes the status of the task, it is removed from the list. It works fine except when there is only one task left in the work list. If the user processes the last task, the form refreshes and it goes to a new empty record and I get an error message that says I must enter a value into one of the required fields. I tried making the field non-required but it just creates an empty record in the table.
I have searched through the whole posts but could not find my query. I have a question related to prevent duplicate data entry in a form field.
I have a Form with 5 fileds on it: SNO, NAME, ROLL NO, CLASS, SECTION.
in the table design i have set the option of NO DUPLICATES on SNO(Autonumber) ROLL NO (text).
I wish to stop a user entering duplicate data in ROLL NO field before he reaches at the last field. What i meant is as soon as a user enters data in ROLL No field, it should check in table if the same data is already there. If the same data is found then it should give a message to prompt user of duplicate data, else it should continue to next field.
I have searched the whole forum but in vain. I am positive that there must be some one who holds the key to this solution.
I thought I had my login form really locked down by turning off all the navigation buttons including the control box and close button. I also disabled the navigation pane and allow full menus. The login Menu automatically displays when the database is opened. After I created the .accde I was still able to right click in the top area (where the name of the form is) and close the form. Actually when I right clicked I got Save, Close All, Close, and Form View. Is there something else I need to turn off?
I'm a newbie to the forum, but hope that someone can point me in the right direction to solve a problem.
Background: I have a db that I use much like Quicken to maintain a ledger and reconcile accounts. To reconcile credit card transactions, I have a continuous form that lists each transaction as a record in the Detail. Each record has Check Boxes for Yes/No criteria pertaining to "Cleared Status", "On Statement", and "Missing Receipt". Checking the box for "On Statement" allows a subsequent report to include the items that are checked. Likewise, an Update Query used later in the process sets all all items in the reconcile to "cleared" so that do not reappear on the list of items to reconcile. In order to cause the Report and the Update Query to reassess the Yes/No status for each item and thus function properly, I have set the Event Proceedure for these Check Boxes to Requery the underlying data.
Problem: As you can imagine, the list of Credit Card Transactions is a long one. Each time a Check Box is clicked, the requery causes the list of records to jump back to the very top of the list. This really slows down the process of completing the reconcile. Is there a way to hold the continuous list in the detail section still as the requery takes place?
Im trying to prevent duplicate records based on a PO # (RA_PO_Nbr), entered from a form. I'm trying to throw a 3022 error when the user attempts to enter a record that already exists, but I dont necessarily have to do it this way.
Code: Private Sub cmdSubmit_Click() On Error GoTo cmdSubmit_Click_Error Dim db As Database Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Dim strSQL As String strSQL = "CompanyPOTable"
I've been trying to use some code I've found to prevent a user from entering a duplicate ID. I've tried this:
Dim Answer As Variant Answer = DLookup("[SAR_ID]", "Request", "[SAR_ID] = '" & Me.SAR_ID & "'") If Not IsNull(Answer) Then MsgBox "Duplicate SAR ID Found" & vbCrLf & "Please enter again.", vbCritical + vbOKOnly + vbDefaultButton1, "Duplicate"
Cancel = True Me.SAR_ID.Undo Else: End If
but it displays the message even if I don't enter a duplicate.
I've created a form. Within that form I have an image control. I am using this code to pull the corresponding plant image from a folder filled with JPGs.
It works just fine except one thing. When I change from record to record my cursor jumps to the center of the pulled JPG. I don't want my cursor to move at all when loading these images. Is this possible? Thanks.
Private Sub Form_Current()
Dim FileExistsbol As Boolean Dim stFileName As String
I have 5 check boxes on a form and one of them must be checked in order to get the correct result. If the user does not check any of the the five checkboxes he gets a msgbox telling him that he must checks one of the checkboxes.
What i want to ask is if is possible to prevent the form from updating? Because the user gets the error message but after that the form is being updated even though he hasn't check any of the fields.
Nutshell: My user DB has one menu with 4 tabs (2 for adding records, and 2 for searching/editing records). Since the form opens up in the acFormAdd mode, Access already creates a new record (blank) before they type anything. It is resulting in blank false new records that are getting added to the table and they are getting annoying. My audit table is full of "user X created new record at this time" when it's just a blank record.
There must be a way to prevent this using VBA, but I cannot find it.
I've seen ways to disable "add new record" buttons and such, but nothing that disables Access from being smarter than me and creating a new record before I decide to.
Hi, Mainform and Subform are linked on field "barcode".
Barcode is the primary key for the table that Mainform is based on.
When user is entering a new record, I have the BeforeUpdate event of Mainform.barcode set to check to see if the barcode already exists in the table, and if so, to give the user some meaningful error message.
Works fine, except that the subform still updates to match the invalid, previously-used barcode. I want the subform to stay blank until the user has entered valid data in MainForm.
I have some code which creates a record in an external csv file to provide information to upload a vehicle to the website. It works fine with the exception of creating duplicates when, for example an option to amend a record is given to the user before continuing to a new record. The option has to be in place in case there is an error in the specifics of what is important to be recorded in the database and under such circumstances the form code allows the user to tab through the form and correct any errors, but this creates duplicate entries in the csv file as the user has to pass through the 'SavePrintVehPurch_Exit' button a second time after corrections are made.
I am wondering if there is a way of altering the following code to effectively look look to see if the csv record exists and if so correct any changed field information rather than create a whole new record or create a new record where the record does not exist - The record in the csv file is determined by the 'Me.VP_VehRegMark.Value '.
Private Sub SavePrintVehPurch_Exit(Cancel As Integer) Dim fileText As String Dim fileName As String Dim fileNumber As String fileNumber = FreeFile
[Code] ....
I am wondering about introducing the something like the following ( but can't work out how to clarify comparison of the fields)
If Len(filename(fileText)) = ? Then Do not change entry Else Overwrite the new detail
I've got this form called mainmenu and inside this form I've got this code to prevent it from being closed.
Code: Private Sub Form_Unload(Cancel As Integer) Cancel = True End Sub
Now then, when I try to switch to design view in this form it doesn't let me because of this code. Is there anyway to tweak this code so that I can get into design view without having to keep disabling it?
I have a main form with several continuous subforms. Each subform consists of several listbox controls. I would like to require the user to select an item from the listbox before being allowed to move to the next record in the subform, and upon reaching the last record in that continuous subform, to require an entry there in order to move to the first record in the next cont. subform.
As an added bonus, it would be nice, though not necessary, to automatically jump the focus from one record to the next after data is entered. But my basic goal is to avoid skipping records.
Caveat: I cannot use the "required" option in the field to which the control is bound because that field has a default value previously entered using an append query. (The default value basically means "not yet entered" and is not one of the options in the listbox. I am using this because this field is a foreign key in the table, thus it must have a value in order to have a record with which to populate the subform.)
My apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere, but I've searched and, while I found a few related threads, they don't quite answer my question. Here they are for reference:
Thanks for any help! Also, if you are going to recommend VB code, could you be specific about how and where I should use it? I'm not afraid of code, but I'm definitely new to it...
I am working on a web database with a form which is bound to an underlying web table where the submissions occur. My challenge is that the fields on the form get submitted to the table even before the submit button is clicked regardless of whether the form was completely filled.
My request is that I want the form to only submit to the submission table only when the submit button is clicked. When I searched on the net, the only solutions I got are VBA written code but my web database cannot use VBA code.
VBA code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Private blnGood As Boolean Private Sub cmdSave_Click() blnGood = True Call DoCmd.RunCommand(acCmdSaveRecord) blnGood = False End Sub
I have been tasked with creating a tool to analyse mobile phone bill data and present the analysis, and our recommendation, to a customers. Being new to Access (other than basic tuition) this has been a slow uphill task, which is finally nearing completion, however there is a problem which I have not yet been able to overcome.
The requirement is for the DB to open first on a splash screen (lets call it Form A) with fancy picture where our customer is selected from a combo box, the customer is then telephoned, a linked computer screen is established and our staff then click "Go" to proceed to a second form (Form B) showing an account overview and more details.
The problem I have is when "Go" is clicked, the second form loads via on click event, and even populates the correct customer in its combo box. Unfortunately that is as far as it gets - the combo does not look up the information. The customer needs to be selected again for the subforms and subreports to load with the customer overview. To clarify, form B just sits there blank until the customer is re-selcted from the combo box in form B.
I am using Access 2010 - Version 14.0.61.29.5000 (32-bit)
I am building a custom Export Wizard to export data to Excel using the Report Wizard for the basic ideas.
All I am trying to do is have a [Back] button on a form to open another form and close the current form.
Private Sub cmdBack_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_ExportWizardPage2", , , , , , Nz(Me.OpenArgs) DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_ExportWizardPage3" End Sub
The new form is opening but then the current form is not closing. All forms are the same size, shape and positioned centrally although this should not make any difference.
Could this be anything to do with which form has the focus when I open the new form?
I have a form, which is comprised of a sub form, and some of the text box controls sided with a button, and the event had been written to the button.
Now, to give a note on how had the sub form had been created is firstly taking a clone of the "Payments" table and using it as a datasheet, and then create a sub form in the form, it works fine
I have a form based on a table called tblListMaster and I want to allow users to open up another form showing all the members of one of the entries in that table so I have added a button called 'Show List Members'.
The list members form which I then want to bring up is also based on tblListMembers (it's a master-detail form). When I hit the button to open up the list members form I get an error message saying that the table is already opened exclusively.
I can understand why I get that message so I thought I would be cunning and create a dummy form which I open up, passing in my list id in the openargs (at that point I also close the original form) and then from that dummy form automatically open up the master detail form and close the dummy.
Code in List Master form
Private Sub cmdListMembers_Click() ' open up the list members form
I'm creating a database to track new policies request. I have a form in datasheet view that displays a list for all Initial Review and Draft status. I would like to click (... or maybe double click) on the Policy Name field that will display all fields into single form that is link to PolicyID ... to update any info needed. In other words i want to click on that record to be display in actual form.
