Print Date Criteria In Chart?
Aug 17, 2012
I created a query and chart for a date range in my database.
My query asks for input from the user to provide a date range.
I need to print that date range, the query is based on, under the heading for the chart.

I am having an issue with viewing a report. I have a button set up to show the print preview of the report. There is a chart based on the report's record source, and two sub-reports showing related data. The print preview section however shows the the chart area where it would appear is blank, i.e. there is a white area where the chart should go. There is no error message. The two sub-reports appear correctly. If I go to print the report, however, the chart appears, and it will also appear if I change the view type (e.g. to layout and back again).

I have a query that has a field that reads DateReceived By Month: Format$([Workorders].[DateReceived],'mmmm yyyy') The criteria line is Like "*" & [Enter Month & Year (Leave Blank for all)] & "*" And this works when I run the query. If I enter october 2013 it shows only records for this date range like it should.
Then I built a bar chart report that will show the workorders only for the month entered. The problem is, If I leave this field in my query the chart does not update . When I open the chart it will prompt for the month and year but the data in the bar chart doesnt change. If I remove this field the chart updates as expected.
If I go into design view for the report and then right click on the chart and go to properties , then to row source, it reads as this:
TRANSFORM Sum([Workorders Query2].MyTime) AS SumOfMyTime SELECT [Workorders Query2].SerialNumber FROM [Workorders Query2] GROUP BY [Workorders Query2].SerialNumber PIVOT [Workorders Query2].[MXDPrinter];
If I click on the elipstical to go into query tools for this line , and click on run I get the error : The microsoft Access database engine does not recognize '[Enter Month & Year (Leave Blank for All)]' as a valid field name or expression.
So my criteria runs normally in the query and returns the correct records, but I can't get it to work in the chart .

Is there a way to show the earliest and latest dates of a report generated by a non-date field?
E.g. I generate a report based on Food, and it'll list the days that this food is associated with. Is there a way to show the first and last day that appears in this report (i.e. the range of dates that the report shows based on the food selected)

Hi!
I use MS Graph and need show 2 data types:
1. Invoice Value, EUR
2. Date
Date axis group records by month, for Example Period from 2005.01.01 And 2006.01.01 has 12 positions in Date Axis.
Her I have problem: I need show sum of Values for every month.
For example in Period from 2005.01.01 till 2005.02.01 I have 3 Values: 200, 500, 600EUR. Her I need to show 1300EUR, and so every month. Her is my strandart code:
Dim strSQL1 As String
strSQL1 = "SELECT Date As Date, Value FROM Table WHERE (Date BETWEEN 2005.01.01 And 2006.01.01)"
Me!chrStatistik.RowSource = strSQL1
Thank You in advace for help.

Hi,
I have the following code which i found on another thread on this forum (thanks to original author) which is attached to the On Click of a button which prints the report corresponding to the details displayed in the form.
Dim strCriterion As String
Dim strMsg As String, strTitle As String
Dim intStyle As Integer
If IsNull(Me![ReferenceNumber]) Then
strMsg = "You cannot print a Blank Form!!."
strTitle = "Print Error"
intStyle = vbOKOnly
MsgBox strMsg, intStyle, strTitle
Exit Sub
End If
If Me.Dirty Then
Me.Dirty = False
End If
strCriterion = "[ReferenceNumber]=" & Me![ReferenceNumber]
DoCmd.OpenReport "DoC Certificate", acViewNormal, , strCriterion
This works fine, however, i need to be able to select the report based on more than 1 criteria. For example, the Reference Number can be repeated but is distinguishable from each other by an Issue Number i.e. ReferenceNumber = 93, Issue 1 or 2 etc. At present when i run the above it prints all versions of, in this case, reference number 93, which given that each report is only a single page isn't a show-stopper but it would be nice to have it working as i would like.
I have tried adding to the strCriterion line such as strCriterion = "[ReferenceNumber]=" & Me![ReferenceNumber] and "[IssueNumber]=" & Me![IssueNumber] but no joy. I have tried bracketing the whole line and variations thereof, again no joy.
Can anybody tell if what i am attempting to do is possible and if so how do i go about it?
I have tried the above coding using MasterID which is the Autonumber PK but it produces an "Enter Parameter Value" box for MasterID. Obvioulsy if i can get it to work for the Autonumber then my problem goes away but i can't seem to figure out why it works for Reference Number (Number) and not MasterId (Autonumber)?
Regards
Alan

I would like the user to be able to select the months he wishes in case they want to look at calender year, financial year or just a custom group of months. If I use the wizard and pick dates say the start and end of the year I get the following code in the row source of the chart control:
Code:
SELECT (Format([DatePaid],"MMM 'YY")),Sum([TotalPaid]) AS [SumOfTotalPaid] FROM [Q_AllCust_Gross] WHERE ([DatePaid] BETWEEN #01/01/12# AND #31/12/13#) GROUP BY (Year([DatePaid])*12 + Month([DatePaid])-1),(Format([DatePaid],"MMM 'YY"));
So I decided all I needed to do was replace the dates in the above code with my own global varible which i would pass custom dates into via a form. Which I called getds() and getde()
Code:
SELECT (Format([DatePaid],"MMM 'YY")),Sum([TotalPaid]) AS [SumOfTotalPaid] FROM [Q_AllCust_Gross] WHERE ([DatePaid] BETWEEN >=#getds()# And <=#getde()# ) GROUP BY (Year([DatePaid])*12 + Month([DatePaid])-1),(Format([DatePaid],"MMM 'YY"));

Hi all,
I'm trying to create a chart in a form, this is not a problem, however, the chart types available are a bit limited compared to if i inserted a Microsoft Excel Chart object.
I'd do that except I'm trying to create a chart based on a query.
Is there a way to make the chart wizard use the Microsoft Excel Chart object as its chart creator so I have access to the chart types available in that object?
any assistance much appreciated.
thanks all.

I am new to Access and I have just imported my old ham radio logs from a DOS based Smart database - rememeber that one.
I have created a reasonable functioning table. I have also created a Query to sort certain records for which I want to print labels to affix to my radio card which I wish to send to other radio stations (called QSL cards). I have created a Report to run the Query and to print a label. Here is my label. It is a mixture of text strings and data from my log database Query.
To Radio 9U9Z QSL QSO
dd/mm/yy UTC Freq Mode RST
24-Feb-07 18:44:00 18.148 ssb 55
73's de Mark N1XX (WAB 11XXX)
Here is the code for the date time etc line - the 3rd line down on the label above - taken from the design view
=Trim([Date] & " " & [Time_UTC] & " " & [Frequency] & " " & [Mode] & " " & [Rpt_Sent])
I am not sure how to format the date to print just the hours and minutes. I would have hoped that since the main log table was using a short time that it would have folowed automatically. In fact the time was printing as 12 hour time and I had to go into my Windows XP preferences and change the pc to a 24 hr clock to get it to print as a 24 hour clock. I tried setting the pc to an hrs and minutes time but it didn't fix my label format. It still shows seconds. I would like to get label to print 24hr hours and minutes and be able to set my pc back to a 12 hour clock format.
Thanks for your help. I still have loads to learn with this database program.
thanks Mark

In attached Preview.png I can see the Dates. When I print the report (Print.png) the dates are substituted with "#Name?"
In the report the date fields are bound to
Control Source =CDate([Forms]![frmTransactionPopup]![dtmFrom])
where frmTransactionPopup is a form which is open but not visible.

I have set up a report which prompts the user for a start and end date. However, if they want to run it for a full month they enter eg. 01/07/07 and 1/07/07 - this will not include entries ending on 31/07/07.
Is there a way I can change the criteria prompt so that it read both dates entered as inclusive in the query. I am currently using
Between [enter earliest date:] and [enter latest date:]

Hello buddies :D, do you have any idea how to make this work?
To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.
This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only.
([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Is Null) And ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Is Null)
How can I incorporate 8:00am to 8:00am into my cboDate and cboDate2. What can i do to make this happen? Your kindness will be greatly appreciated http://www.naijaryders.com/forums/images/smilies/thankyou.gif

I have this exercise I am doing for access on a sample database. I have already made a table form etc...there is a field with date in the form.. "1/6/2004" for example.
The exercise wants me to set, for example, criteria between two dates. How do I do that?
I used >#1/6/2004# AND <#30/6/2004#
for finding etc betweeen 1/6/2004 and 30/6/2004
but it doesnt work...
What is the correct syntax of this kind of expression?
thanx!

Good day!
I have a query that filters records which production starts at the first day of the year and ends a day prior to the current month.
I used this criteria:
Between [Enter: First day of the year] And [Enter: Date prior to current month]
I need a criteria which will filter records automatically. I mean, without having to key in required dates.
Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm having some trouble developing a query based on a specific date criteria. I have a date field, called "SurgeryDate" with 4 fields next to it, "3Month", "6Month", "9Month", and "12Month", which are auto calculated with a control source of =DateAdd("y",+90,[SurgeryDate]), based on the date entered in "SurgeryDate". What I would like to do is create a query that, when run, will check each of these 4 fields against TODAY's date, and find any that match today's date, or are 2 days after today. My goal is to build a form off this query that will display the records that match this criteria so that they can be updated. I'm not really sure how to approach this issue. I think the problem I may be running into may be related to the fact that these fields are calculated from a different date. Any suggestions? Thanks.

hi guys,
I am newbie :) just started learning how to use access a month ago. It may be a simple question to some of you guys, but I am having trouble figuring how to implement this.
So I created a query with a field "AuditDate" I want to audit record every 90 days after "AuditDate". I want like a warning to audit my record after 90days. Maybe Click on something on the form to show a list of record. Do anyone have a simple formula i can use to implement the "auditdate + 90 days"?
I also have a query on other database with a field "TermDate". I want to set a criteria to list all my records 90 days or older from TermDate. Please let me know if theres some simple formula
Thank you very much for your help

Hi all,
I have a field in my database which shows the last date of review for clients. I have a query from this which shows any reviews which are overdue - they have to be completed every 6 months, so I use
<Date()-180 Or Is Null
The thing is, now we need a query to show clients whose review WILL be overdue in the following month from a date that we enter. e.g, if we enter 1/06/07, we want to see everything that will become overdue in the month of June.
Can anybody help me with the criteria I need to enter in a query to get this result?
Thanks for any help :)

Hey. Instead of going back every month and changing the date to the first. Is there a function I can put in the Criteria that will automatically filter for stuff only since the begining of the month. Right now I am using this:>=#5/1/2005#. I just want to to automatically change when a new month occurs.

I am wanting to use a query to find dates within a range, like a quarter. Within the criteria I put "[Enter Date:]". I ran the query and tried the "Between..And.." operator and even "<=9/1/05 and >=12/31/05". All I get is an error message saying incorrect syntax or structure. Any questions on how I could set this up so I could perform this search, that would be great.
Thanks. :confused:
