Queries :: Access 2003 - Querying With Odd Date Format?
May 7, 2013
I'm using Access 2003 connecting through ODBC. I'm trying to set up an automated query to grab today's data. normally it's pretty easy, all you'd have to do is enter date() in the criteria in an access query. Unfortunately, the date in my database (i can't change this) is in an odd format.
example: april 1st, 2013 = 1130401
Every single date always has that preceding "1" in front of it, then the year, then the month, and finally the day.
I want to always specify the current date whenever the query is run (without having to type it in)
I have a db tracking vacation times for staff. One of the fields tracks a members vacation start and end dates. I need a way to pull a report to see who is on vacation based on Date() (today).
For example:
A record for John Doe has him start vacation 08/19/2014 and end vacation on 8/28/2014. If I wanted a report that shows who is on vacation today, 08/25/2014, using the date() function), how would I do this?
I have recently installed access 2003 w/access 97 installed both are on my hard drive. When I create a new db in access 2003 it saves it in an access 2000 format. Does any one know why it does this?

Hi,This is my first post here... I hope I am not asking a really stupid question. :)Basically I need to cleanly export an Access 2003 database to a TAB-delimited file... The database in question has 1406 rows and several columns... some cells have nothing in them -- this is a "contacts" database.Long story short, I need to export-out as TAB-delimited (or comma)... I have done this, but when I view my results in Excel, it looks like some things are messed-up... I think there are some tabs hiding around the database that I am not aware of.Any tips on cleaning-up my database for export to CSV (tab/comma)?Also, I have one field that is a dropdown list... When I export it out as CSV/TXT I only get a number and not the actual value of the chosen drop-down... Is this normal? How do I get the actual value and not just the number?Basically, I would like to just normalize this database and get it into a perfect-looking CSV/TXT TAB/Comma delimited file. :)I would be willing to pay for this help... I do not have much cash, but I really want to make sure I get this done right the first time. Many TIA's!Cheers,M
I have written a database in Access 2003, saved as an Access 2000 format. This runs fine on Windows XP workstations. When I install the same system on a Windows 7 system, my login screen launches, the user is able to enter in their name and password. Then nothing happens. What is supposed to happen is a form opens up after the password is entered that applies security written in code based on the user.
I have a database that gets updated twice per week. Using ASP, I am "publishing" this database to our company website to enable anyone within the company (here or aboad) to see the status of various tests. The problem I am having is: I am trying to get only "active" tests to show up (which I have working correctly) or tests that have been stopped or completed within the past 5 days. I have tried using: DateAdd("d",-5,Now()), DateAdd("d",-5,Date()), and neither have worked. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? I can't use a specific date to subtract from, because it may be a few days between the time I update and the time everyone has seen it.
I need to convert the date format October 10th, 2013 to 10/01/2013 in a field using sql in access 2010,I know it has to be an update query but dont know how to start writing the query.
occassionally i will run queries that have run before, the hourglass will turn on, then turn off, and access does nothing visible, but tack manager says its running 90% cpu. . .
any ideas on what is happening or i am doing wrong?
I'm creating a query with VBA, then exporting it to Excel. I have a couple calculated date fields that are exporting in the format of dd-mmm-yy, but I want them in the mm/dd/yyyy format. In the query, they're in the proper format, but not in the export. I tried using Format([DateField],"mm/dd/yyyy"), but then they left align in the export, but are fine in the query.
I have a query which pulls up results based on the value of a text box. All works well except one field has a DOB (date) and if I search say for " /1976" I get no results, however search /76 and all the people with that year of birth show then show up. The date is stored in the dd/mm/yyyy format.
I'm using the like [forms]![clients]![searchfield] in the criteria of the query to bring up results.
condition formatting a date field in access. The query used for this field produces a date or "NA" based on the formula below. so when the date shows up as "NA" then i have set the condition formatting of the cell to grey and this works works well. but when it shows up with a date it doesnt format to a grey.the formatting pane has these two expressions
1. Q_Induction_Date = "NA" then grey the cell
2. Q_Induction_Date < DATE() then grey the cell and this DOESNT work. i have also tried the function Now() and that doesnt work either.
I am getting more and more infuriated with dates and access. I thought I had it all working, and now I get to 01/01/2008 and it all falls apart. Anyway,
I have a lump of ASP that finds various dates and queries them against an Access DB. I have used response.write to see what is being sent to the database, and they are in UK format DD/MM/YYYY as they should be. The field in my DB stores the dates as DD/MM/YYYY. Now for the bit that is driving me mad.
Somewhere in access, US format is being used. For instance, I have a date value that finds tomorrows date. In this case its 02/01/2008 for the 2nd of January 2008. When I enter the SQL in access though, no data is brought back. If I query on date equalling 01/02/2008 then data is brought back!
So, my program is outputting UK format, the dates are stored in UK format, my regional settings and everything else on my computer are UK format. Access is trying to find US format though-why?
Someone decided to be clever and send a text file with a stupid date format, is it possible to show off a little here and get a working date format, it's a text file I am working with: Dec 18 2014 01:12PM.
Not that is an exactly cut/paste so spaces are as they are here, ideally would like to get 18/12/14 13:12.
I have an access database which has a date field. I've entered all of the dates in valid UK format (dd/mm/yyyy). An example of the table looks like this:
I am having a problem with the date function in access 2010. The default format is Date/Time "General" but the sample on the right side just shows a number (17). The field goes blank on any date I enter. I have to manually format the date field with mm/dd/yy to show the dates in the date field. I don't always have to manually format the date. The long and medium dates are the only two from the drop down list that show dates properly.
I can't get this to work! I am re-using a database to create new reporting. It was a technician utilization database that I am reworking to show weekend days worked. I changed the date format to Long Date to show the day, then started a query. The query is looking for *Saturday* but pulls nothing in the date field that I just changed to Long Date. What am I missing?
