Queries :: Access 2007 / Query Count Of Unique IDs

Jan 16, 2014

I have a basic query off a currency table :

Quote:

SELECT tblCurrencies.CcyID, tblCurrencies.Ccy
FROM tblCurrencies
ORDER BY tblCurrencies.Ccy;

Now - I have a separate table of balances, which is linked to the currency table by the same CcyID, and which also has identifiers to link it to other tables (e.g. AccountID)

As part of the above query, I want to return the count of unique AccountID's in the balance table for each currency. So in other words, I want to know, for each currency, how many unique accounts exist?

Each AccountID could appear one or more times in the balance table (one-to-many relationship), so I only want to count the number of unique ID's.

So I started with the following :

Quote:

SELECT tblCurrencies.CcyID, tblCurrencies.Ccy, Count(tblBalances.AccountID) AS NoOfAccounts
FROM tblCurrencies INNER JOIN tblBalances ON tblCurrencies.CcyID = tblBalances.CcyID
GROUP BY tblCurrencies.CcyID, tblCurrencies.Ccy
ORDER BY tblCurrencies.Ccy;

But this just gives the number of AccountID's per currency (regardless of duplication within them)

I found this article which informs me that a Count(Distinct) query won't work in Access and to use subqueries instead.

Queries :: How To Count Unique Dates

Aug 4, 2015

I want to do a unique count of dates when an activity was done in my table. The table may have multiple entries of the activity performed possibly on the same date by an individual

e.g. table entries

Code:

approvalNoSys dateAssessed Activity
100 01/08/2015 Audit
100 01/08/2015 Audit
100 01/05/2015 Audit
100 01/05/2015 Audit
100 01/02/2015 Audit
100 01/01/2015 Audit

Unique audit Count must equal 4

Code:

totV = ECount("[dateAssessed]", "R_P_Data_P", "[approvalNoSys] = '" & [Forms]![cmrOverview]![txtappNoSys] & "' AND [Activity] Like '*audit*'")
totV = Unique count
dateAssessed = date field in R_P_Data_P table
R_P_Data_P = table
"[approvalNoSys] = '" & [Forms]![cmrOverview]![txtappNoSys] & "' = criteria for the customer in question to separate them from many other customers in the table.
Activity = text field in R_P_Data_P table
audit = the activity

I'm also trying to avoid having to build total queries etc to them reference them, I'd like getting the desired outcome in an expression or small code.

I read about Ecount but my complier doesn't recognise the function

Queries :: Count Unique Dates

Jan 10, 2014

I have 2 linked tables, tblPN & tblReceivedDate. tblPN has field PN and tblReceivedDate has field [Received Date]. The tables are used to record the receipt of different part numbers and the date they received. I want to use a query to count how many times a part number is received. The catch is that I only want to count a part once even if it is received more than once on the same date. With the data in the attached DB the count for PN 123 would be 5.how to configure the query to do what I need to do?

Queries :: Count Unique Values Without GROUP BY

Sep 15, 2013

I am currently using the below code to query values that have a unique "OverrideDescription" and where by the "Upload Date" is always the latest.

SELECT t1.*
FROM [DaisyServiceRates-Amended] AS t1 LEFT JOIN [DaisyServiceRates-Amended] AS t2 ON (t1.OverrideDescription = t2.OverrideDescription) AND (t1.[Upload Date] < t2.[Upload Date])
WHERE t2.OverrideDescription IS NULL;

However I also need to be able to do a unique count of the [OverrideDescription] field.

I have found methods whereby I can do use, but they all use a GROUP BY function, the issue being that when I use this method it prevents be from updating the values saying "recordset not updateable".

Any method that does not use the GROUP function. I did also try preforming the COUNT on a separate table and doing as JOIN, but this also prevented updates to the date.

Queries :: Access 2007 Query Expression Round And IF

I have an expression that sets an AI Buy It Now value that is 125% of AI Value and rounds it, which follows AI Buy It Now: Round(([AI Value]*1.25)/10)*10

I need to add to this expression that I only want this calculation applied if AI Values are greater than 999. But I can't figure out how to add this stipulation to the above expression. I have tried IIF but it is not working.

Queries :: Access 2007 Query With Null Values

Apr 17, 2013

I am currently creating an Access 2007 database for calculating salesperson commissions. I have a table with 5 fields I'm working with: SalesRep, SOWRep, TerritoryRep, Period and Commission. I am trying to build a query that will calculate commission for a salesperson for each record where their name appears in one of the first three fields. Each time their name appears, they get the commission listed in the Commission field for the stated Period. I have managed to do this part successfully. My problem now is that I am creating a query that will sum all of their commissions by Period. I have run into a situation where sometimes a salesperson will not appear in one of the rep fields, resulting in NULL values in the previous queries. How can I create a final query that will sum correctly even if there are NULL values returned on the previous queries?

Here is what I have so far:

November: Avg((SELECT [SumOf1/3GM$s] FROM [BaxterActualMargin1] WHERE [Period] Like "November*")+(SELECT [SumOf1/3GM$s] FROM [BaxterActualMargin2] WHERE [Period] Like "November*")+(SELECT [SumOf1/3GM$s] FROM [BaxterActualMargin3] WHERE [Period] Like "November*"))

Queries :: Find A Way For Access To Find Unique Dates And Unique Names?

Aug 1, 2014

I have been working on a simple data base for some time now (beginner level) and am still trying to improve it. I would like to do something but before that I would like to have your opinion to know if it is even possible?I have a query QryMainReport:

Start Date/Time
End Date/Time
Employee

At the moment this is what the format of my report looks like (I removed other unnecessary fields):

StartTime----------EndTime---------------Employee
12/06/2014 01:00--12/06/2014 03:00------John Smith
12/06/2014 04:00--12/06/2014 06:00------Jane Doe
13/06/2014 02:00--13/06/2014 05:00------John Smith
13/06/2014 08:00--13/06/2014 08:00------Jane Doe

I would like to do as a report. (Dates would always be from Sunday to Saturday). I am not sure it is possible to do that. I suppose first it would mean:I would have to do a query to separate the times from the dates?I would have to find a way for Access to find the unique dates and unique names?Does it mean I have to use cross tab queries?

Queries :: Access 2007 / 2010 - Combining Two Queries Into One?

Jan 24, 2014

I have two queries, one base upon the other. I would like to combine them (If Possible) into one query so I can embed them into a form or report. I have tried without success at finding the answer on the forum as well as searching the web.

The table lists employee numbers and dates they worked. I need a count of how many employees worked each year, based upon the paycheck date, not the actual date worked. Pay check dates are two weeks apart. An extreme example, is the first pay check date of 2010 was on 1/1/2010, but all the days worked were in 2009, this would have to be included in 2010 not 2009(See the query for further date calculation understanding). Anyway, the date calculations are not the issue here.

I only have one table, so if I am not mistaken, I can't use the WHERE (SELECT... JOIN) feature. I also was unsuccessful at using SQL DISTINCT.

I am running ACCESS 2010 Tables are ACCESS 2007.

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have included a same database with the queries. qryEmployeesAnually2 is the results I am trying to achieve.

Count Unique (yep, Again)

Sep 20, 2007

Hello,

I noticed my subject has been discussed numerous times in this forum. I must have read nearly all topics, but I simply can't get it to work.

I have a table listing: country | category | article | turnover

I wish to make a query which gives me:

country | sum of turnover | count of (unique) categories used by this country | count of (unique) articles sold by this country.

This way I can evaluate with how many different categories a certain country achieves a certain turnover...

It look so simple but I can't figure it out. I hope I'm clear in my question.

HEEELP!

Cheers,
Stefan

Queries :: Access 2007 - Merge Two Rows Into One

Apr 26, 2013

I am creating a query to use in a Word 2007 mail merge.

For simplicity, let's say the query has three fields:

schname for school name, role for staff role, and name for the staff member's name.

The current query shows:

SchoolA, Admin, Jerry Garcia
SchoolA, President, Bob Hope
SchoolB, Admin, Janet Jackson
SchoolB, President, Mae West

I would like a query that would show one line per school like so:

SchoolA, Jerry Garcia, Bob Hope
SchoolB, Janet Jackson, Mae West

I've looked at Allen Browne's ConCatRelated function and can pull up a list of all names in a field called Expr1001, but that doesn't seem to be what I need.

Queries :: Unique Record Table Query

Oct 22, 2013

I am using a software drawing program that intelligently link information from a drawing to a database and vice versa. I have many tables and queries that I have created over time that enable auto populating of tables, creation of tables and so on. All of which enable me with tabular documents for ordering purposes.

The problem I currently have is: - I want to create a table that looks at an existing table, analysis various fields for duplicate information and then adds one record to a new table. This is to enable me to create a spares list based on the entire list.

I have a full valve list with various items, some duplicates some not. I am required to produce a spares list that considers only one of each type.

Queries :: Unique Query Is Giving Duplicates

Aug 4, 2015

I have a unique query which lists all the films that we are screening over the next 3 months. I have added a COUNT field so that I can see how many of each films we are screening.

The problem is that i get duplicates of some films - and this may be because we may hold several copies of some films. I have attached two images which might explain this better!

What I could do with is knowing how to make it so that i get a list of films booked and how many of each, regardless of which copy of the film is used.

The SQL is:

Code:
SELECT DISTINCTROW dbo_Films.[film name], Count(dbo_Films.[film name]) AS [CountOffilm name]
FROM ((dbo_Films INNER JOIN dbo_filmCopies ON dbo_Films.ID = dbo_filmCopies.tblFilms_ID) INNER JOIN dbo_EventsFlicks ON dbo_filmCopies.ID = dbo_EventsFlicks.filmCopyID) INNER JOIN dbo_Venues ON dbo_EventsFlicks.venueID = dbo_Venues.ID
WHERE (((dbo_EventsFlicks.datefield)>=#8/1/2015# And (dbo_EventsFlicks.datefield)<#1/1/2016#))
GROUP BY dbo_Films.[film name], dbo_Venues.southhub, dbo_Venues.northhub, dbo_Films.Specilaised
ORDER BY dbo_Films.[film name];

Queries :: Append Query With Unique Duplicates

Sep 11, 2013

I'm attempting to create an append query that will add new records only if there isn't an equivalent record already existing. Typically I would add the existing table to the query, and only add new records if the same do not exist. In this case, the table is maintaining records over time (start date and end date).

I have 4 tables:

[t_employees]
employee_ID
employee_name

[t_cities]
city_ID
citiy_name

[t_city_assignment]
city_assignment_ID
start_date
end_date
employee_ID
city_ID

[t_temp_employees]
effective_date
employee_ID
city_ID

I'm checking if [t_temp_employees].[effective_date] <> [t_city_assignment].[start_date]. However, if the employee has historical entries it will still add a record (in fact, it'll add multiple records).

How can I append a new record only if one for the same time period does not exist?

Queries :: Select Largest Value Which Is Smaller Than Another Value (Access 2007)

Jun 4, 2014

I have a table of logged entries. Each record has a date field (ValueDate) and an account identifier field (AccountID)

I also have a table of rates. Each record has the same account identifier field (AccountID), a date field (EffectiveDate) and a rate field (BankRate)

Entries can be logged for any given ValueDate. But there may or may not be a corresponding EffectiveDate in the rates table.

I need to write a query that will return all of my logged entries and the largest EffectiveDate which is on or before the ValueDate (as well as the BankRate corresponding to that EffectiveDate)

This is as far as I've gotten but it returns multiple records for each logged entry. I need one record per logged entry.

Code:

Queries :: Grouped Sum With Proportion Of Total (Access 2007)

Feb 20, 2015

I have a table of transactions (close to 1m records) from which I want to query totals by currency and direction (ins and outs) and then also show the proportion of the overall total for each currency. All amounts are absolute (i.e. ins and outs both represented by positive numbers)

To throw some added complexity into the mix, the transaction table records only refer to account (AccountID), which links to a separate account and currency tables.

I can query the sum totals by currency and direction (although I'm not totally happy with the SQL syntax .

Code:
SELECT tblCurrencies.CurrencyCode,
tmp1.SumPay,
tmp1.SumPayUSD,
tmp2.SumRec,
tmp2.SumRecUSD

[Code] .....

I'm struggling to get the proportions per currency though? I tried adding :

Code:
((SumPayUSD+SumRecUSD)/Sum(tblTransactions.USDAmount)) AS Proportion

But it tells me that the specified field 'tblTransactions.USDAmount' could refer to more than one table listed in the FROM clause of the SQL statement.

Reports :: Returning A Unique Count In A Report?

Oct 27, 2014

I have a report. behind that report is a query.

The query returns the parts used for each job. This could be 1 to many, so I get 1 to many rows returned in the query for each job. There can be a number of jobs to a work schedule (I'll call this WS). Each job is for a particular model. So I bascially have

WS1 JOB1 MODELx PART1
WS1 JOB1 MODELx PART2
WS1 JOB1 MODELx PART3
WS1 JOB1 MODELx PART4
WS1 JOB2 MODELw PART7
WS1 JOB2 MODELw PARt8
WS1 JOB3 MODELx PART5
WS1 JOB3 MODELx PART6

I want to count the number of jobs each model appears in ie MODELx appears in 2 jobs, MODELw appears in 1 job.

I've read DCOUNT can eliminate duplicates but I can't see how to use it to do so.

I have (general gist)

DCOUNT("model number"."query","model number" = [model num])

Modules & VBA :: Automate Access 2007 Queries With Form For Users?

Oct 18, 2013

I've been using Access 2007 to run queries on a database where we eventually export results as separate Excel spreadsheets for individual clients. The process is quite involved, using queries to change fields from code letters to words and splitting the database up into different client tables, saving the tables under date order and with different client codes.

I now need to pass this role on to colleagues, so need to make everything as straightforward as possible.

I had thought to use a Form as the user interface, with a minimum number of buttons, however I need either the system or the user to amend the date for the initial table, then to use this new table and run a series of standard queries on it, then produce the separate tables.

I don't think I can just use macros behind the buttons, because the database name is changing each time.

I assume some parts will be too tricky to automate - it will be necessary for colleagues to follow instructions instead.....

Line Item 3: U
Line Item 4: N

ManifestData
ManifestDataIDPK
ManifestNumber [0001]
