Queries :: Access 2013 Navigation Buttons - Criteria For Query Linked To Dropdown Box On Form
Apr 13, 2015
I'm working with a form in Access 2013 that uses the navigation buttons. I'm trying to have my criteria for a query link to a dropdown box on the form. I had no problems doing this in Access 2010 with normal forms, but I can't link the criteria, in the query to the Navigation buttons form box. I'm tried using
how do I get access to the default navigation buttons on a form ie back, forward, new and last buttons. I want to right some VB code that acts when the buttons are pressed. How do I do it?I don't really want to create my own buttons and do onclick events.
I have a query that has 2 fields of currency labour rates (current rate and baseline rate), but sometimes there are some blanks in either of the fields and is causing my text field which has a Sum formula (Rates x Hours) to #ERROR and throws out my other calcs. The only way to find out which blank line items are throwing my query numbers out is to manually type in "Is Null" in the criteria.
However, I would like to keep this process fully automated so I tried to create 2 lots of option buttons for my form, one for each of the 2 fields of currency labour rates and after I click on either option button and then run my query it will show all the lines that have blanks. I was able to link 2 text boxes to the option buttons (Select Case - Case 1 - Me.txtBox1.Value = "Is Null") and then link the text boxes to the criteria field using [Forms]![frm_labour]![txtBox1]. However, none of this seems to be driving my criteria in my query.
I have problem to create Stock query in Access 2013..I want to sum Purchasing numbers base ItemName in Purchasing table by query .. but i found error in summing?
Table: TaskT Fields include; Description, Action, DueDate, Priority, Precinct, Recurring and Employee. Query: TaskQ Form: TaskF and TasklistF
The forms are fed by the TaskQ query.I have sort and filter on all fields except date field which i would like to have 3 buttons which will dynamically update the criteria in the TaskQ DueDate field. Is that possible or the way to do it??
The buttons would include 'Due today' 'Overdue' 'Next 7 days' and they update the criteria in the TaskQ query and hence filter with the following;
how the Forms work I am trying to put some of them in Navigation Form and my commands does not work as they did in Form."Home app" is the navigation form, "Apeluri_neinchise" is the subform of "Home app" and "Combo1" is the criteria based on which a query shows a specific data.
What is the proper formula for query criteria?
[Forms]![Home app]![Apeluri_neinchise].[Form]![Combo1] (I tried this but it's not workink)
I have made a new access 2013 database. I have created a linked table that has imported a substantial amount of data from an external data source, (an Excel spreadsheet). So far no problem. I created a select query that plucked data from the original table mentioned. Again, no problem. Then I decided to create another table, using certain fields only from the select query. Microsoft's guide tells me to start with CREATE, then Table design. I am happy to use just 4 fields from my query, but what I keep ending up with is a table, that, when I double click on it gives me the following:
ID Field1 Field2 Click to add (New)
It is presumably expecting me to enter an ID number and it will come up with some record, but I want a complete table that should show several hundred records.
In A2007 if you disable the Navigation Buttons on the form the Me.RecordCount will be set to 1 when the form opens ? I replace the Nav buttons with my own set but my "Go Next" button will not work untill I hit "Go to Last". This apparently restores the recordset count to the correct number of records.
In the code in this tutorial shown here [URL] It says to create RentalRates with no Navigation Buttons. Then after creating the form, that has no navigation buttons, I am to create 8 records in the next step. I assume it means to create the 8 records using the form RentalRates.
Now that is confusing. Do they enter the records using the newly created RentalRecords form or enter the records on the Table Categories; which is the RentalRecords form's record source?
Now I know of one way to enter the records which is to put Navigation Buttons to yes, enter the records and then put Navigation Buttons back to no. I do not think that is what they mean. What do they mean?
I use an Excel interface to retrieve data from an Access file that has approximately 1 million records. I use an MS Query from Excel to run an Access Query to retrieve the data.
I have 16 "Criteria" fields (columns) in Excel that I change with drop-downs. Each criteria column has 2 to 9 values set; a total of 75 values. I pass these criteria fields to Access via a table link in Access.
The criteria of the fields in the query that is run in Access to pull the data based on the table link is updated by using the Values In A List (IN) option.
When I refresh this query in Excel, it pulls the data fine, but may take 10 minutes to run. (I am using MS Office 2003, 1Gig memory). I have limited VBA knowledge. Is there a better/faster way to pull this data?
I have created a master form, which is a tab style. I have five additional forms that I want to use as sub-forms within each tab. I also want to include master navigation buttons that will work for each sub-form in unison. In other words if I navigate to record 10 on tab 1 and switch to tab 2, I want the new tab to show the information related to record 10. It would appear that I need to link them together in some fashion.
I want to create a navigation form, or any form for that matter that has an embedded report. The report has data arranged by ClientID. I would like to create buttons down the left side of my form (why I thought a navigation form could work) where I can put the client name on the buttons and when I click them the report will filter to only show that clients data. I have client tables and the report data linked in queries, but just need to know how to get started with these buttons acting as ID sorters.
For example: ClientID: 1 = Client: ABC Corp
In my report ClientID 1's data is grouped along with all other client ID's.
In my form I'd like buttons down the left side with ABC Corp written on it (followed by buttons for the other clients) and then when I click the ABC Corp button only ABC Corp's data shows on the page from the embedded report...
So I have made all the necessary forms to start working with my Access, and now I need a main form, a home where I should put all the buttons to enter each form.I have used the Navigation Control on a New form URL...
A row with buttons appeared, and I complete the property: Navigation Target Name with the target form, but it is giving me some trouble with a searchForm and a Query. Every time I enter this form (using nav control), Query asks for an Input.
I've been writing queries in the following format for years in Access 2003, but having recently transistioned to Access 2010, I've found the following sql doesn't work.transform
sum(s.value) SELECT s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name FROM supply_points s , codes c WHERE s.code = c.code and s.id is not null and s.code = 1075 and s.month >=[forms]![main]![gppstart ] group by s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name pivot s.month
In Access 2010, this query returns the following error message:the Microsoft Access database does not recognize '[forms]![main]![gppstart]' as a valid field name or expression
I have been trying to figure out how to make a main menu that link to certain tables I have. I want the links to go to the tables/forms so that they can be edited, but I don't want the user to be able to enter design view. I have attached an image of what I want to have below.
We have run into a problem with Access 2013 when trying to print reports. The program always crashes. Have updated printer driver for the HP LaserJet P2035.
In the attached image I was trying to calculate number of working days(throughput) b/w item received_date and item_released date by using datadiff with "w" interval . but if I use "w" interval it brings value zero .but if I use "d" interval then it brings result with inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.i don't need that.
How to calculate the number of working days exclusive of Saturdays and sundays.
Access version: 2013 / The user can click a button on the report that opens a form where they can select various filters. Once the user has selected the filters and clicks done, I have some VB code that fires which builds an SQL string with all of the filters selected. It then reopens the report with the new filter.
What I am running into issues with is one specific filter that the user can select. They can select a "from date" and "to date". Sometimes this filter returns what I want and sometimes it doesn't.
For example. I set 01/01/14 as the start date and end date as 15/01/14. <-- this works as desired. But if I put start date as 10/12/13 and end date 15/01/14 for example then it returns all previous records up to the specified end date. I.E dates such as 10/10/13 will show.
This is the VB code used to build the SQL for this filter:
First time user - so please forgive if this is already out there.
I want to hide the navigation buttons on a form and create a custom set of controls. I can create the buttons themselves but am having trouble with the "N of X", where:
X is the total number of records in the query, and N is the current record showing in the form.
I can get X but how would I capture and display "N".
