Queries :: Append Data In Access Pivot Table To A Table (or Requery On It)

Jan 22, 2015

Is there a way to append a pivot table to a table or possibly make a query based on a pivot table? I need to get a count of Part Numbers and I need the average price for all these parts. Additionally I want to ignore a count of less than 3.

Also I am having trouble filtering on the count in the pivot table... haha, so I was gonna Query on it later on.

Queries :: Copy Data To Excel From Pivot Table

May 21, 2015

I have the following (simplified) normalised data table:

[Account] [SrcUD2] [Amount]
col1 row1 1000
col1 row2 500
col1 row3 500
col1 row4 1000
col1 row5 1000
col1 row6 0
col1 row7 1000
col1 row8 1000
col1 row9 0
col2 row1 100
col2 row2 1000
col2 row3 200
...

I use the query below to pivot the data into the right format for export:

Code:
TRANSFORM First(Amount)
SELECT SrcUD2
FROM source
WHERE LocName="myLoc" AND Entity="LE01" AND PeriodName="QA - 2014" AND ScenarioName="Actual"
AND (Account="col1" Or Account="col2" Or Account="col3" Or Account="col4" Or Account="col5" Or Account="col6" Or Account="col7")
AND (SrcUD2="row1" Or SrcUD2="row2" Or SrcUD2="row3" Or SrcUD2="row4" Or SrcUD2="row5" Or SrcUD2="row6" Or SrcUD2="row7" Or SrcUD2="row8" Or SrcUD2="row9")
GROUP BY SrcUD2
PIVOT Account

which yields the following table as the query result:

SrcUD1 col1 col2 col3 col4 col5 col6 col7
row1
row2
row3
row4
...

which is great except that I want to transfer the results to Excel using the CopyFormRecordset method without the metadata of column 1 (row1, row2 etc.

Queries :: Append Data To Table?

Apr 20, 2015

I have a table called dbo.userinfo with a primary key called employeeid and a field named jobfunction.

i have an intermediate table named dbo.projectpositions with a primary key named projnumber and a foreign key named employeeid.

I have a 3rd table named projects with a primary key projnumber and a field called project manager.

I'm trying to append the Projects table so that any projects that a worker has worked on (dbo.projectpositions) that is listed as a project manager (jobfunction) will have their employeeid fill in the project manager field on the projects table. Looks something like this:

INSERT INTO Projects ( [Project Manager] )
SELECT dbo_UserInfo.JobFunction
FROM (dbo_UserInfo INNER JOIN dbo_ProjectPositions ON dbo_UserInfo.EmployeeID = dbo_ProjectPositions.EmployeeID) INNER JOIN Projects ON dbo_ProjectPositions.ProjNumber = Projects.ProjNumber
WHERE (((dbo_UserInfo.JobFunction)="Project Manager"));

But just can't figure out the next step to populate the project manager field...

I basically want to use a set list (TableAddresses). This would be a Append Like "*InsertAddress*" I do this manually by simply typing 20 different addresses and then clicking Append.

Is there a better way to do this simply?

Queries :: Append Query Needs To Add Data From A Field To The Table

Mar 13, 2014

I want to set a table field's default value to whatever is displayed in a certain field on a certain form at the time.In other words, say I have a database with a table called TABLE1, and two fields called NAME and SCHEDULENUMBER. I have a form called CreateSchedule with a SCHEDULE NUMBERCONTROL form and a NAME form, and I can enter names onto it, and it records to the proper SCHEDULENUMBER. So if I pull up SCHEDULENUMBER 4, and add three names, when I go back into TABLE1, I can see those three new names, and each one has the SCHEDULENUMBER set to 4.

What I'm trying to do is write an APPEND QUERY to copy a list of names from a different table, and paste them into TABLE1. The problem is that the other table doesn't have a SCHEDULENUMBER field. What I want to do is put a button on the CreateSchedule form that runs an APPEND QUERY, and sets the SCHEDULENUMBER to whatever value is displayed on CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field.

I tried setting a default value in TABLE1's field properties for that SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field, but I keep getting error messages. I just want TABLE1, whenever I add a new record (regardless of how I add the record: manually typing it or clicking the append query button) to look at the form CreateSchedule, and set it's own SCHEDULENUMBER field to whatever is displayed in CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL form.

Modules & VBA :: Code To Delete Table And Then Run 4 Append Queries To Refresh Data

Jun 11, 2014

I have a table called "EquipmentRequired" which is populated by 4 append queries,

5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.

The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.

I need to create a Pivot Chart using the data from more than one table.

The main table has fields including 'Job name', 'task name' and 'hours worked'.

The second table (linked to the first by 'task name') has a field 'allocated hours'.

I would like to plot the 'total time worked' against 'allocated hours' (in a stacked bar style chart), in order to monitor time usage.

Pivot Table Won't Update From Union Queries

Jan 3, 2008

I searched the internet and this forum for the answer to this. I did find the exact question posted in this forum way back in 2002 but there was no reponse...

When updating an Excel Pivot table using an Access Union Query as it's source, I receive the message "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too Few Parameters".

I found a rather elegant solution here (http://groups.google.co.uk/group/microsoft.public.excel.querydao/browse_thread/thread/1ca76034adc10c1a/204261bda38c118c) Unfortunately, this appears only to work for Access 2003. Does anyone have a solution for Access 2000?

Perhaps I should insist that our IT department upgrade. :p

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Append Records From An Access Table To SQL Server Linked Table

Jul 21, 2006

I am rebuilding an application for a client and I have an Access table that I am using as a temporary table. Once the user is done entering information into the temporary table through a form, the user presses an update button that appends the records using an Append Query in Access to an SQL Server Table.

The following error message occurs:

"ODBC -- insert on a linked table 'linked tblname' failed.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Explicit value must be specified for identity column in table 'linked tblname' when IDENTITY INSERT is set to ON. (#545)

I am using a form, subform combination to record a bill with many details. The bill summary is posted into a tbl_TransactionsMain table in SQL Server using the ADO AddNew method. The PK for the tbl_TransactionsMain is then entered into the temporary table in Access. When the temporary table records are appended into tbl_TransactionDetail the error message occurs.

What is also interesting is while typing out this post I thought to test the error by manually trying to run the query. The query worked like a charm! When the orginal error occurred off of the form I tried to run the query manually and it failed. I am guessing that this might have something to do with the ODBC timeout.

I think SQL Server/ODBC connection is not liking how I have a set of records in an Access table with foreign key numbers assigned when I am attempting to append the records. I am new to SQL Server and any ideas are most appreciated! :)

Access Error 3027 When Using VBA To Append Table To A Linked Table?

Apr 7, 2014

I have two tables, submit and imgdest. Submit is edited by front-end users to load pictures for back-end users who then delete the images when they're done with them. Submit is edited by a form, in the form I've placed a button (Command37) that has code:

Code:
Private Sub Command37_Click()
Call InsertData
MsgBox "Completed", "0", "Completed Backup"
Exit Sub
End Sub
Private Sub InsertData()

[code]....

This code was working for a short while, now anytime it's run I get error 3027 - Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. However, I can open the linked table and manually change information in it with no problems.

Queries :: Run Append Query From Table A To Table B

Jul 30, 2014

how I could run an append query from table A to table B that only appends data that is not in table B.I want the primary keys of A to be exactly the same as B, because I will use B as a blank slate (another append query to append info to another table C with all the fields as 0 except for the primary key).

For example,

Table A - Supplier
Table B - Things that supplier does (blank)
Table C - Things that supplier does (information)

Lets say table A has 1,2,3,4 for supplier.Table B has 1, 2, 3, 4, as primary keys as well but all the other fields are zero.I insert PK "5" + data into table A through a data entry form, and then when I click on "save" in the data entry form, I want to macro an append/update qry (I don't know which one is supposed to be used in this instance) that will insert PK-5 into table B, so that I can append the blank slate info into table C.

Changing Computed Field In Access 2010 Pivot Table

Jul 28, 2014

So... I have the pivot table with the following columns...

Sum of Numerator, Sum of Denominator, and a computed field for Rate

My Rate calculation is: iif(Denominator = 0, Null, Numerator/Denominator)...

I have at least 15 of these rates (numerator, denominator, rate) on the same report..it works fine, but my business analyst has clarified the Rate requirement that if the denominator is 0 then the Rate should display 0 (instead of Null)..

When I change my Rate computed field to iif(Denominator = 0, 0, Numerator/Denominator) and press the "Change" button all the numerators and denominators on the pivot table are blanked out... I've refreshed the pivot table and everything; but, I can't stop this from happening. why the heck can't Access' pivot table be as robust as Excel's ???
