Queries :: Append Only Data On Filtered Form

Jul 2, 2015

I have a list of dates in my Form1.

When I click on a date it opens Form2 to show that dates specific details.

I would like a macro on Form2 that appends the filtered results to another table.

I think I am just struggling with the references to Form2 in the append query criteria.

Queries :: Inventory Transaction Form - Append Query Data Type Mismatch

Dec 8, 2014

I'm receiving an error indicating there is a data type mismatch when running a query named qappInventoryTakeOn.

Data is entered into the Inventory Transaction Form. If the transaction type is "Take On", when the update button is clicked the record will be saved to tblInventoryMovements and then qappInventoryTakeOn should run to update tblInventory, but I keep running into the aforementioned error.

Queries :: Export With Formatting Filtered Data

Aug 3, 2015

I have a centralised database that imports data from several other databases at the click of a button to produce a "global" query of data.

This is presented as a datasheet form which I am then able to filter. This is a subform to my main form.

I have a button on my Main form with a macro to ExportWithFormatting to excel. I was under the impression that exportwithformatting exported the filtered data.

How to export my filtered query data to Excel and not the whole query data?

Queries :: Calculate Percentage On Grouped And Filtered Data

Jul 20, 2015

I'm very new to Access and I'm attempting to write an expression in a query that will calculate the % of the count of "Exchange" field (Exchange is a text field and is grouped and the count based on each unique name) where the total count is based on the filter where "Group" = 'FS' or 'S'.

The below seems to work, but there is a better way of going about this (especially if I have to add more filter criteria). I added a pic of the query I'm trying to build.

PercentofTotal: (Count([Exchange])/DCount(Count([Exchange]),"[Holdings]","[Asset Group] = 'FS' OR [Asset Group]='S'"))

General :: Append Filtered Records To Another Table?

Sep 3, 2013

I select records from a table based on criteria:

< Dim rst As DAO.Recordset

Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM [tblLVRWrittenStatements] WHERE [tblLVRWrittenStatements].[seedrsID] = " & seedrsIDVar & "") >

I now want to append these filtered records to another table called ArchivedWrittenStatementsTable;

< CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO [ArchivedWrittenStatementsTable] SELECT * FROM rst" >

Would be lovely except rst not recognised. Is there a way of achieving this without having to <addnew etc > looping through the records.

Sorting Form By Filtered Data

Mar 14, 2006

I have a button that opens a second form and shows filtered data based on the selection of a ComboBox from the initial form. That all works nicely, I now wish to sort the Data in the new form by [POID].

The code I'm using looks like this;

Private Sub Command5_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Command5_Click

Dim stDocName As String
Dim stLinkCriteria As String

stDocName = "FRM_AWMPonum"

stLinkCriteria = "[ClientID]=" & Me![Combo0] & " AND IsNull(DelDate)"
DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria

Exit_Command5_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_Command5_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Command5_Click

End Sub

What changes do I need to make to the code to sort the data?

My company wants me to run a high level report which ask for three filters. However as its high level they want it should run with a click instead of choosing filters from three drop down ...

As this report comes out as a graph I can't use report wizard to run tabular report. Any smart way that they click a button and get filtered data in graph form.

Forms :: Existing Data In Field Of Subform Also Filtered By Combo Box On Main Form

Mar 7, 2014

I have a form with subform (datasheet) .

On my subform i have one field which shows the

productId ( which is filtered from combo boxes on main form) .
productId contains two columns
1 bound column(id) ( hidden with width 0 )
2 column (desription) ( shown with width 2 )

Now after entering the data when i come back to the form again . It hides the data from the productId field on subform , because data in combo box (on main form) doesn't match. Although the row is showing up , only the text in field (productId) is hidden.

Now when i change data in combo box on main form to match the ProductId , then the productId field text shows again. after changing combo box it hides . What i need is the existing data should not hide when i change the combo box selection.

see pic 1 where product matches and pic 2 where not. please note i am using master child relationship on the form/subform.

Queries :: Append Data To Table?

Apr 20, 2015

I have a table called dbo.userinfo with a primary key called employeeid and a field named jobfunction.

i have an intermediate table named dbo.projectpositions with a primary key named projnumber and a foreign key named employeeid.

I have a 3rd table named projects with a primary key projnumber and a field called project manager.

I'm trying to append the Projects table so that any projects that a worker has worked on (dbo.projectpositions) that is listed as a project manager (jobfunction) will have their employeeid fill in the project manager field on the projects table. Looks something like this:

INSERT INTO Projects ( [Project Manager] )
SELECT dbo_UserInfo.JobFunction
FROM (dbo_UserInfo INNER JOIN dbo_ProjectPositions ON dbo_UserInfo.EmployeeID = dbo_ProjectPositions.EmployeeID) INNER JOIN Projects ON dbo_ProjectPositions.ProjNumber = Projects.ProjNumber
WHERE (((dbo_UserInfo.JobFunction)="Project Manager"));

But just can't figure out the next step to populate the project manager field...

Queries :: Append Multiple Data With Update Query?

Aug 6, 2013

In access Im working with two tables, this is my setup

tableA.documentnr
tableA.revison

tableB.documentnr
tableB.revision

Both tables are filled with data, Table B contains the same kind of data as table A, But tableA has documentnumbers with different revisions (for example revision a,b,c, for each revision a seperate row). Table B might have an identical document, but just one revision (like revision a).

Now I like to append the data of tableA to tableB, except if a revision is similiar to a revision in table A. (There is more metadata involved, but I will do it step by step)

Im not working with primarykey data, becayse in the end result table B will also have multiple (identical)document numbers with different revisions on different rows.

I tried to use the update query but it doenst append the documentnumbers where the revision is not present in table B I attached a image of the tables.

Queries :: Append Query Needs To Add Data From A Field To The Table

Mar 13, 2014

I want to set a table field's default value to whatever is displayed in a certain field on a certain form at the time.In other words, say I have a database with a table called TABLE1, and two fields called NAME and SCHEDULENUMBER. I have a form called CreateSchedule with a SCHEDULE NUMBERCONTROL form and a NAME form, and I can enter names onto it, and it records to the proper SCHEDULENUMBER. So if I pull up SCHEDULENUMBER 4, and add three names, when I go back into TABLE1, I can see those three new names, and each one has the SCHEDULENUMBER set to 4.

What I'm trying to do is write an APPEND QUERY to copy a list of names from a different table, and paste them into TABLE1. The problem is that the other table doesn't have a SCHEDULENUMBER field. What I want to do is put a button on the CreateSchedule form that runs an APPEND QUERY, and sets the SCHEDULENUMBER to whatever value is displayed on CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field.

I tried setting a default value in TABLE1's field properties for that SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field, but I keep getting error messages. I just want TABLE1, whenever I add a new record (regardless of how I add the record: manually typing it or clicking the append query button) to look at the form CreateSchedule, and set it's own SCHEDULENUMBER field to whatever is displayed in CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL form.

Append Two Queries - Combining Data Into One Datasheet View

Is it possible to append two queries? The queries have the same layout and labels...it's just a matter of combining the data into one datasheet view.

The two queries are below:

1)
SELECT prc.Market AS Geography, trp.Product, trp.Indication, trp.[Variable Name], trp.Period, Round(prc.Index*trp.[Variable Value],2) AS [Variable Value], trp.Outlet, trp.Daypart, trp.[Program Name], trp.Len, trp.Creative, trp.Campaign, trp.[Campaign Name], trp.[Media Type], trp.Vendor, trp.Channel
FROM tblTRP AS trp, tblTRPpercent AS prc
WHERE (((trp.Indication)=prc.Indication) And ((trp.[Media Type])=prc.Type) And ((trp.Geography)="National") And ((trp.Month)=prc.Month));

2)
SELECT prct.DMA AS Geography, tv.Product, tv.Indication, tv.[Variable Name], tv.Period, Round(prct.percentUniverse*tv.[Variable Value],6) AS [Variable Value], tv.Outlet, tv.Daypart, tv.[Program Name], tv.Len, tv.Creative, tv.Campaign, tv.[Campaign Name], tv.[Media Type], tv.Vendor, tv.Channel

Queries :: Extract And Replace With Additional Data Append Delete Query

Jul 1, 2015

I have a Table1 served by Form1..It is a list of: UnqID, process, quantity, totaltime(in seconds).I want to click on a record to bring up a filtered Form2 with the chosen record on it.What I want to be able to do is to now split the quantity (and the time) and put these new records back into Table1 and delete the original record

EG

ID1,10,write a report,2400

I want to delete this and replace it with two (or three/four etc) replacements, but still adding up to 10 quantity and 2400 seconds so that the new data could be:

ID2,5,write a report,1200
ID3,5,write a report,1200

My initial thoughts are to create a holding table to:Append filtered data on Form2 to a holding Table1hld (i don't know how to do this) delete data in Table1.then enter the new quantities into a holding Table2 (that I will input myself) and then append (through a series of queries back into Table1).The first problem is how to append (and subsequently delete) the filtered record from Form2 to Table1hld.

Modules & VBA :: Code To Delete Table And Then Run 4 Append Queries To Refresh Data

5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.

The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.

Append Query To Add Data From Form To Table

Mar 24, 2008

I understand that I can use an append query to add data to a table from a form and then have it run by using a command button. I want to do this because when I link the form directly to the table I do not want the form to create a new record every time it is invoked. (it does this automatically because I have visual basic code move to acNewRec and fill in some of the fields on load and lock them off, this is neccessary) I also do not want it to create the record immediately because the user might then decide to cancel their actions and leave the form - then I have half a record's worth of data in my tables! :D

I could just use VB and recordsets to do it but SQL is more elegant. The problem is, when I use the append query it appends an extra record to the table for every single record that already exists within it. So a table with 1500 records will have 1500 new entries containing duplicate data!

This is all a mess, so what would be a better approach? The user does not need to navigate through the records on this form or make edits, it's strictly for additions. There is a subform linked to a table that is in a one-to-many relationship with the table that the parent form must update to, but I'm quite happy to leave that one linked directly.

Any suggestions appreciated ;) I've probably done something thick..

Queries :: Create A Form To Run Append Query

Jul 19, 2013

I am creating a database for users that no nothing about access nor do they want to learn. So the database needs to be as simple as possible.

This being the case I would like to avoid users from creating/editing querys.

I would like to have a form that would run the append query. The query would have a date column and a status column that the query would filter.

The query would have a criteria for status that would equal to "BACKED OUT" and the date would need to link to the two text fields on the form. My problem is writing the VBA code to make the query append in the background.

For sake of argument:
Query = qryappend
Form = frmappend
Table = tblappend

Using Avg With Filtered Data

Sep 27, 2004

Hi everyone, I am new to writing queries in access and I have got stuck with this one.

I have 2 tables containing similar data from 2 different paradigms.

The main columns I am interested in are not unique - labelled ID and Delta Ex (a score). The same ID values can occur more than once in the same table, so I am interested in calculating the average Delta Ex score for each ID value in each table.

I then want to ask what ID values occur in both table 1 and table 2 and then calculate the average score of each common ID values across both tables. i.e. ID 1 score = avg(table1.delta ex, table 2.delta ex).

I then want to rank the top 50 scores.

So far I have the following to find common ID values, with a score above a threshold set by the input string threshold. These are ordered with in descending score value.

SELECT [MODEL 1].[ID], [MODEL 1].[Delta Ex]
FROM [MODEL 1], [MODEL 2]
WHERE ((([MODEL 1].[Delta Ex])>[threshold]) And (([MODEL 2].[Delta Ex])>[threshold]) And (([MODEL 1].[Accession])=[model 2].[accession]))
ORDER BY [MODEL 1].[Delta Expression] DESC;

With a second query I can select the top 50 scores:

SELECT TOP 50 [query 1].ID, [query].[Delta Ex]
FROM [query 1]
ORDER BY [query 1].[Delta Ex] DESC;

However, I can't for the life of me work out how to obtain an avg score for each ID value.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Allowing Data To Be Filtered

Aug 8, 2006

I'm new to Access and am trying to work out the best way to achieve the following.

I need a way for users to be able to filter the data which is displayed by forms or output in reports. For example, suppose that a user wants a list of all customers in either of two specific towns with a specific date of birth.

Obviously this could be achieved using a query and setting the criteria of the towns column to be:

"Anytown 1" or "Anytown 2"

and setting the criteria of the Date of Birth column to be the specific date required, e.g.

"08/08/2006".

However, so far everything about my database has been very user friendly with forms for data entry and presentation, so I don't really want to force my users to start creating their own queries.

The alternative I'm thinking of is as follows. Provide a query to pull together the required information (from various tables) but without any specific criteria. Then create a form with a field for each of the columns in the query, and allow the user to type their critieria into these. Then, place If statements as the criteria of the query to check if there is anything typed into each box on the form and, where there is, set it as the critieria for the query, then run the query.

With the above in mind, I have two questions.

1) Is there a better, more "standard" way to achieve a system of allowing users to create customised filtered data without requiring them to write queries?

2) In some cases, e.g. like with my specification of a town above, it would be good if the user could select the town they want to filter for from a drop-down combo box, rather than typing it in and risking entering details incorrectly. However, this would obviously allow them to select only one town, and not two as was required in my example. Is there an equivalent to a combo box which would allow multiple selections?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me - and please remember that I am new to Access so whilst I want the best possible solution, I need a plain English explanation!

Gary
