Queries :: Append Query One Record Several Times
Feb 13, 2014I have a table with rooms each room have a number of gust. I want to append each room many times equal to the number of gusts.

View RepliesI have a table with 3 fields:
numberFROM, numberTO, Quantity
e.g.:
10, 15, 6
I would execute an append query that will store in another table:
10
11
12
13
14
15
How could I mange it?
I have a query run that gives me a list of records that I view on a continuos form. What I want is to press a button and run a macro/Append Query to add a Single Summary record to another table.
For example my query spits out this data
Part # Quantity Serial Number
GO2 1 123
GO2 2 456
GO2 2 789
What I'm looking to get is
Part Number Total Quantity Serial Number 1 Serial Number 2 ..
GO2 5 123 456
I'm stuck on a couple of things.
1. Getting a new single row to append.
2. Getting Serial Numbers from several records to save on to a single record.
I have a table [maintable] that holds print records, with the following fields :
id,userlogon,printername,pagecount,color(yes/no),duplex(yes/no),timestamp and papersize.
I want to create a query that will show the following:
Sum of pagecount where papersize like 'a4' and between 2 dates but FOR EACH USERLOGON.The dates will take them from 2 fields in a form so i will use this
"WHERE (((maintable.Timestamp)>=[forms]![reportsform]![frmdate] And (maintable.Timestamp)<DateAdd("d",1,[Forms]![reportsform]![todate])))" and some more..
So i want the query to show, first the userlogon then a field to show sum of a4 then a4 color prints etc..(remember,i want the between 2 dates criteria to be global,to the whole query)
here are all of the criteria fields i want:
1) - papersize=A4
2) - papersize=A4 and Color=True
3) - papersize=A4 and Color=False
4) - papersize=A4 and Duplex=True
5) - papersize=A4 and Duplex=False
6) - papersize=A4 and Color=True and Duplex=True
7) - papersize=A4 and Color=True and Duplex=False
8) - papersize=A4 and Color=False and Duplex=True
9) - papersize=A4 and Color=False and Duplex=False
Sometimes i have a problem with dynamical queries. For some of these i need to put in the same parameter value two times, before it works. Why this occurs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a query that gives a value in a column either "A","V","L","H","P","S" or blank.
I want to be able to count the amount of occurrences of each letter and hold that number in a column. Is it easy to do?
I have a table which list a load of items, one field is date and one field is time.I have a form with two date boxes and two time boxes, the idea is for the user to search between the two inputted dates and the two inputted times. This then runs a query for a report to be produced. The problem I having is getting the query to runs both criteria it returns nothing.here is the Where part of the current SQL.
WHERE (((tblIncident.IncDate) Between [Forms]![FRM_SearchMulti]![txtrepdate]
And [Forms]![FRM_SearchMulti]![TxtrepDateB]) AND ((tblIncident.IncTime) Between [Forms]![FRM_SearchMulti]![txtreptimea]
And [Forms]![FRM_SearchMulti]![txtreptimeb]))ORDER BY tblIncident.IncDate, tblIncident.IncTime;
I have a log in table that counts every time a user logs onto the database. Each time a user logs in it adds another entry to a table.
I have built a query to display the user name and date of log in so I could display this information in a report. The report is now getting rather long, and I am looking for a way to display each users name and have the total number of times they have logged in, not display each time they have logged in separately.
The Query has two fields "Agent Name" and "Logger Date"
The report displays the data as follows
Agent Name Logger Date
User 1 26/5/13
User 1 26/5/13
User 1 27/5/13
User 2 28/5/13
What I would like to do is have a report listing each users name, with a column showing how many times they have logged on. e.g.
User Name Login Count
User 1 3
User 2 1
Running Access 2010 and developed this query to filter out data from a table between times on 2 dates (day before report run and day of report). Covers data from a shift that carries over to the next day.Trouble is, the PC i developed on still operates the query as expected. However, on the PC the database resides (not networked just stored) and operates, the query brings up no data at all unless I remove the Time filtering.
This PC used to operate correctly up until early this year (about 18 months operated correctly) when the PC was replaced due to failure. Access version is the same and I am at wits end to what the cause is. Here is what my query looks like:
Quote:
SELECT Breakdowns.BreakdownDate, Breakdowns.Time, Breakdowns.Shift, Breakdowns.Downtime, Breakdowns.Equipment, Breakdowns.Conveyor, Breakdowns.Fault, Breakdowns.Stopper, Breakdowns.Gate, Breakdowns.Dolly, Breakdowns.Carrier, Breakdowns.FaultType, Breakdowns.Comments, Breakdowns.Tradesman
FROM Breakdowns
WHERE (((Breakdowns.BreakdownDate)=Date()) AND ((Breakdowns.Time) Between #00:00:00# And #6:29:00#) AND ((Breakdowns.Shift)="Night")) OR (((Breakdowns.BreakdownDate)=Date()-1) AND ((Breakdowns.Time) Between #22:30:00# And #23:59:00#) AND ((Breakdowns.Shift)="Night"));
Create a query to show rows with timestamps in between two timestamps? my variables are cutoff time and the current time where cutoff time is saved on a table (tblcontroltable.cutoff ) a pseudo code of what i want to achieve is
select date, product, timestamps
from tblsample
where date = date and timestamps > cutoff and timestamps < time
I am trying to open a form with some records taken from one table, then alter couple of data in it and after that most importantly to append current records into a different table. The reason I need to append is that I need to keep track on every occurrence on same fields.
It looks like this:
SerialNumber(Field 1), ServiceDate(Field 2), ServiceEngineer(Field 3)
Now suppose same serial number called again and asked for service, I need to still keep record on how many times this same serial number had service.
I tried to append one record to the end of the table (as end-of-the file indicator) but it's appending multiple records. Here is the code I have used to,
Table Name : MyTable
DoCmd.RunSQL "INSERT INTO MyTable (eof-Indicator) SELECT 'eof-101'
AS eof-Indicator FROM MyTable;"
I have a reasonably complex query (3 subqueries into 1 main query) which gathers data from various tables into a single dataset based on a specified date.
I now need to generate a similar dataset but across a range of dates (a month) for reporting purposes. However, I can't just adapt the query and change the parameter from a "=#<Date>#" format to a "Between #<Date1># And #<Date2>#" format
The reason being, each date has to be treated individually and has to be queried as a standalone. It's to do with the type of data I have (one-to-many relationships between tables)
So what I really need to do is run the same query multiple times, for each date in scope, then stitch all of those datasets together into one 'giant' one.
How to do that in SQL (effectively, have one query produce the dates in scope, then join that onto the other query, passing each date as the parameter - I don't even think that's possible to be honest)
The other option I can think of is to use VBA to loop through the dates in scope, then use a QueryDef object to set the parameter and read the records for each date into a Recordset object. But then I have the problem of stitching all the Recordsets together, without looping through all the fields and rows each time.
I have two tables "TABLEA" and "TEMP"
fields in both tables are
Cust ID (Primary key)
Cust Name
Address
Cheque No
Amount
Location
Zone
I need query when i click on command button on form
if "Cust ID" which is primary key in "TEMP" Table match with "Cust ID" from "TABLEA"
It will update the record in "TABLEA" if not then append the record
I have a form with a subform in Datasheet view. I want the user to double click a record in that subform and a query to ammend it to another table.
I want to trap the double click event of the subform but
how do i run a query based on a current record in a subform?
Hi,
I am trying to run an append query, but instead of appending the whole table, I would like to only append a single record.
I have an append query, and it works like a charm. I can also get it to work with prompting the user for a parameter (in my case LeaseId which is a primary key). When the user is prompted and enters the LeaseId it only appends the single matching record. Works like a charm.
However, I don't want to prompt the user for the paramater. I want the user to generate the LeaseId based on the selections in two combo boxes.
So far the I do get the right LeaseId, but I have no idea how to actually pass the LeaseId to the query. I've tried the following, but I know it's completely wrong.
stDocName = "approveLease"
DoCmd.OpenQuery stDocName, acNormal, acEdit, "[LeaseId]=" & Me.buildingCombo.Column(0)
Any ideas on how to actually accomplish this?
This is my first time posting to a forum so don't hesitate to correct me if I am doing something wrong.
I am trying to create autofill templates based on the worktype.
How do I append data to the current record only!
I have a table that contains all of the job information including a record autonumber.
I have made a form using this table and it includes a subform for charge items from a separate table.
My users are complaining about having to key in every line item and want the form to autofill the subform for charge items based on the worktype field.
I have written an append query which is correctly extracting the worktype field and updating the charge items fields but it is doing so for every record with the same work type. I just want it to update the current record I am looking at.
The program I am working with has an option to add a new record to another table using a button. Not all the records, even new ones, need to be appended.
The append query works fine in all situations but one--when a new record is entered and saved, the append query button returns 0 records to be appended. However, if you go to a different record and come back to the one just added in the main table, the append query works fine. The query uses a TempVar to select only the record being seen at the time. The TempVar is declared prior to attempting to append the record to the other table.
Is there a way to make a just entered record act like its been around for a bit (well at least to save it by changing record to another and back)?
I have a database of Assessments, each record having multiple subforms.
I am working on a button, which creates a "similar" (same) assessment, copying over all the subform records/selections.
So, after I actually insert a new assessment, pasting all the values from the original Assessment:
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSelectRecord
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPasteAppend
I need to copy over subform contents, for which I use an Append Query (actually, I use its SQL in VBA code to pass it the right parameters).
Now, naturally, I ran into Key Violations, because taking 50 sub-records from the original they would have their own AutoNumber Keys (ID's) and I can't append them into the same table.
My question: how do I copy over the same records (appending FROM and TO the same table) but cause the table to insert AutoNumbers for the records being appended?
Thanks!
I have tables Account (PK acctnum) and Orders (linked via acctnum to Account). There are multiple orders per account that need to be billed individually. When creating an invoice I need to add the Account to the Invoice table and the Orders to the InvoiceDetail table. I use 2 queries to accomplish this. The first one though adds multiple records to the invoice table (because of the one to many relationship). I need to keep that so I don't bill anyone with no orders.
INSERT INTO Invoices ( InvoiceDate, AcctNum )
SELECT DISTINCT Date() AS InvoiceDate, Account.AcctNum
FROM Account INNER JOIN [Order] ON Account.AcctNum = Order.AcctNum
WHERE (((Order.OrderNum)=[Forms]![Account]![Order].[Form]![OrderNum]) AND ((Account.BillingCycle)="on discharge") AND ((Order.EndDate) Is Not Null) AND ((Order.Closed)=Yes) AND ((Order.PatientName)=[Forms]![Account]![Order].[Form]![PatientName]));
Is there any way to get it to only add one record? I've tried limiting it with several parameters to no avail.
In some cases I create pass-through queries and use these in an Append or Make-table query to bring data locally.
All is well and fine until source data changes and the pass-through query runs too long and times out.
If needed, I can extend the timeout value in the Parameters of the pass-through query no problem, but when I try to open the Append or Make-table query in Design view to do the same, the pass-through query is first triggered and then throws the timeout, and I cannot access the Design view of the Append or Make-table
Is there a way to open an Append or Make-table query in Design view without invoking the source query?
I am having fun with key violations and cant seem to find out why?
I basically am deleting a Job but when i delete it i want to archive it hence the 'Archive' query and the History Tables.
It seems to be pasting everything in fine apart from the 'EmpJobHistory' Table?
I am getting the usual message "Key violations"?
I think i need the intermediate 'EmpJobHistory' Table because there will be Employees that are related to many Jobs and vice versa.
I am trying to copy notes from one table to another table where a condition has to be met and I can't figure out how to do that in an APPEND query.
Each record has a unique number that comes into my Initial Table in my Access database from a construction program I download. In this particular table both the [DNJTNo] and [DNVersionNmbr] fields can have duplicate numbers. However, when I run the query I want it to add a record to the second table only after the query checks that the [DNJTNo] in combination with the [DNVersionNmbr], is not already in the table. If it is, I do NOT want it appended to the second table. (I have attached a picture of the query in APPEND design stage).
How can I modify the below code so that it only adds new records to AttributesTBL from ProductInformation-Consumer?
INSERT INTO AttributesTBL ( Material )
SELECT [ProductInformation-Consumer].Material
FROM AttributesTBL INNER JOIN [ProductInformation-Consumer] ON AttributesTBL.Material = [ProductInformation-Consumer].Material;
I am having problems adding details from StudentForm to student table. When I click on the add student button it throws back an error Microsoft Access cant append all the records in the append query.I have attached the error as a pdf and the database for info.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to use an append query that appends data from a union query into a table, but doesn't add duplicates based on a certain field.
I have been trying to use this code, but it doesnt seem to work.
INSERT INTO [Cotton13/14]
SELECT DISTINCT [Contracted Farmers].*
FROM [Contracted Farmers]
WHERE NOT (SELECT * FROM [Cotton13/14] FROM [Cotton13/14] AS [Cotton13/14] WHERE [Cotton13/14].[OF Codec] = [Contracted Farmers].[OF Codec])
Cotton13/14 is the table I want to append to and Contracted Farmers is the union query. However the code is giving me an error.
