Append A Record Using Vba Where There Is An Auto Number Field

Jan 5, 2006

Hi, basically what i want to do is append a record to a table using vba. I would like to take two values from my form (productID, supplierID) and insert them into a table (supplierProductsTBL) under the same headings. I've constructed an sql statement but am getting the following error:

runtime error '3346'

number of query values and destination fields are not the same'

I think this happens because the table also contains an autonumber field (supplierProductID) and i'm not referencing this in my sql statement (below):

mySQL = "INSERT INTO SupplierProductsTBL ( SupplierID, ProductID ) VALUES ('" & SupplierID & "'), ('" & ProductID & "')"

i wuld just get rid of the autonumber field but i need this.

Any help on this would be appreciated, cheers mark.

Queries :: Count Number Of Tasks - Group By Date / Time In A Query

Aug 14, 2013

I want to count the number of tasks by department by week. I need the time so my date the task was added is formated as a date/time.

I created a query and added the department (twice so that I can group and count), and transaction date. I clicked on totals and added the count function under the department. I added this criteria to the task date: between [start date] and [end date].

Problem is that it's grouping by day and each one is different because all times are different. How do I group these by day and not time?

Select And Append Queries... At The Same Time?

Oct 10, 2007

I've done some searching, and haven't found any threads that match what I am attempting...

I have a database that tracks expenses that are incurred under different ongoing projects. I currently have a report based on a query that asks the user for the project number, and shows all the expense invoices that have not been paid for that project. This report is basically an internal invoice that gets assigned to a department, and so it is assigned an internal "invoice" number. Currently, the user types in this internal number before the report is generated and it is displayed on the report for printing purposes.

Here's the tricky part (for me anyways): I would like to be able to filter the invoice records by project number, and then append the user-entered internal invoice number to the applicable records. There is already a field in the table for this data, and it is currently being entered on individual records after the report is printed. My goal is to be able to do this all in one step.

Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thanks guys!

Queries :: Append Time Onto Short Date

May 14, 2013

I have a totals query that displays the sum of what products we ship each day. A process in the system automatically assigns the date/time to a ShippingDate field when an item is marked as despatched.

The totals query allows users to view what products are shipped between a period specified by the user.

The problem I am getting is that when the user inputs dates into fields [txtStart] and [txtEnd], the query fires up but will not display any records as a start time 00:00:00 and end time 23:59:59 was not input.

I don't want users to have to do this but cannot think of a way around it. My criteria code in the query for the shipping dates is

Code:
Between [Forms]![Switchboard]![txtStart] And [Forms]![Switchboard]![txtEnd]

Can I append the start / end time onto the code above somehow or is there another method I can utilise that is probably so glaringly obvious I have missed.

Usually a query allows me manipulate a field property sheet but in this case there is nothing obvious to select like format.

Query That Result Incremental Number, With No Auto-Number

Sep 10, 2006

Well, here's my database :

Name : String
Address : String

I want to add an automatically generated column, "no.", to show which number it's in. Like this :

No. Name Address
1. A Unknown
2. B Unknown2

The problem is, I can do that with Auto-Number, but if the user delete row 1, the number in row 2 is still 2, not 1.

Is it possible to generate query that have "no." column in it ?

Appending Records With A Desired Auto Number In A Table With Auto Number

Oct 26, 2005

Here is my issue. In a table with an Auto Number index some records have been deleted. I have been able to recreate them along with their original auto number. The problem is that I do not know how to append these records forcing the original auto number. I have tried changing the auto number field to a number field in the table, this works except I cannot change it back to auto number.

I am sure I’m not the first with this question or issue. I did search through a couple hundred entries about auto number before I posted this question.

I have a tbl that gets populated from an append query and a form that is crated from this table. there is one field that gets populated from the append query called departments, the department names are long and we have abbreviated versions of the department names that I would like to use.

In the table I have two columns “department” (for long name) and “updated department” (for abbreviated department name) When I use the append query to update the department (long name) I want the abbreviated department column to populate.

For example if department column reads "Drilling and Workover" from the append query, I want updated department column to slefpopulate to read "D&WO"

I want the updated department field to automatically fill with the abbreviated name. How do I do this?

The append work fine for me, but i tried adding the code to run the delete query to the same button as the append's one is, but giving me error that MS can't run the delete query because i have the form open exclusively. If I run the delete query with the form closed it work. How can I make the button to excute both append and delete queries at the same time.

Queries :: Auto Assign Increasing Number Based On Multiple Factors

Jun 11, 2015

I have written a check writer program for the company I work at. I have a table for Venders, and a separate table Invoices set with a 1-many relationship. When checks are printed it consolidates all the unpaid invoices for each vender to print a single check and mark it as paid with the date.

The checks already have a check number printed on them so what I need is an option that will allow me to enter the first check number when the print starts and Access will put that number in a field on the invoices page for each invoice associated with the first vender printed, then would increase the number by one and put that number in the invoices associated with the next vender printed.

Reports :: Auto Populate Date And Time Every Time Form Is Updated

Nov 8, 2013

I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?

Forms :: Auto Generate File Number Based On Number Of Records In Year

Jan 21, 2014

I have a form [IUDATA]

I have a add record button.

I have a date field [DATEIN]

I have a text field [DRPNO]

If the [DPRNO] field is empty, I would like the user to have the [DPRNO] field be automatically populated after the user enters a date.

I'd like the format of [DPRNO] to be "dpr YY-XXX"

Where:
YY is the year of the [DATEIN] field and
XXX is number of records in that year.

So for example, if it was the 4th record with a 2013 date the [DPRNO] would be dpr 13-004.

Auto Increasing A Number, Depending On Maximum Number When Condition Is Met

Sep 18, 2006

Hi,

I'm trying to get the maximum number in a table field to increase it by one depending on the member that is selected in a drop down in a field.

I have three tables: members, programs and times. Each member can have N programs and each program can be broadcast N times.

Each member has a three digit code, like XXX. Each program has the three digit code of the member + three numbers that are supposed to auto increment. That is, the first program of member X with the member code XXX is called XXX001.

What I'm trying to do is that when a new program is filled in and I select the member, then the program code should update automatically, adding one to the latest program by that member.

That is, if the last program by member X that was inserted in the database is XXX010, then if a new program is inserted it should automatically be XXX011, even though programs by other members have been added in between.

This is the code I use now, for the AfterUpdate when selecting the member in a dropdown in the form. But although I've played around a bit, I just get error messages...

Private Sub medlemsruta_AfterUpdate()
Dim medlemskod
medlemskod = Me![medlemsruta].Column(2)

Dim strMax As String

strMax = DMax("programs_kod", "table_programs", "Left$(programs_kod, 3) = medlemskod")
Me!program_kod = Left$(strMax, 3) & Format$(Val(Right$(strMax, 3)) + 1, "000")
End Sub

Medlemsruta is a dropdown where one selects the member from the members table, where the three digit code is in the third column (Column(2)).

I'm trying to use DMax to get the maximum number for the particular member and after that adding 1 to that for the new program code.

Grateful for any advice! Thanks!

Queries :: Opening Design View Of Append Query Without Timing Out Source Query

Mar 4, 2015

In some cases I create pass-through queries and use these in an Append or Make-table query to bring data locally.

All is well and fine until source data changes and the pass-through query runs too long and times out.

If needed, I can extend the timeout value in the Parameters of the pass-through query no problem, but when I try to open the Append or Make-table query in Design view to do the same, the pass-through query is first triggered and then throws the timeout, and I cannot access the Design view of the Append or Make-table

Is there a way to open an Append or Make-table query in Design view without invoking the source query?
