Queries :: Booking System - Finding Available Room For Date Range?
Feb 18, 2014
So I'm trying to do this database for my ICT coursework and its a full system for dog kennels.
So in actuality the rooms are kennels.
I have a table tblbookings that amongst others has fields:
Kennel No
Date In
Date Out
I need a way of users entering the requested dates for a new booking and getting an output of a list of all kennels that are available to book for that full date range or even better, a way of running this straight from the form for a new booking frmbookings to just leave the first available kennel no. in the field KennelNo?
I am in the process of creating a Room Bookings database using the limited graphical tools of Access 2003. I intend to break up the day from 0700 to 1900 into 48 X 15 minute chunks (the minimum bookable time) and have these graphically represented on the form as boxes whose colour change depending on whether it is booked and who by. It would be normal to have up to 8 colours available for this as any one room would be unlikely to be booked by more than 8 people in one day. I would envisage that each day would be covered by a separate subform.
Has anyone else tried a graphical representation of a booking form?
It would be interesting to hear others views or experiences...
I have Table for rooms called Rooms, and the data in the table is roomNumber which is in the format Letter and two Digit number, so A01 would be dorm building A and room building 1, and I then have a seperate row named roomType that is either VIP or Semi Private.
Now I am creating a form where a worker will put in there scheduledCheckin date and scheduledCheckout date and it will be written to the Bookings table. I would like this form however to take the dates they have put in, as well as room type (Semi-Private or VIP, and assign them an available room that isn't booked at all in that range) or list all available rooms for that range of time and they could then just select the room. I would rather it automatically assigns an available room based on room type though because this check in system is going to have about 500 rooms.
I've attached a link for what I have so far. I know how to make a query to list anyone who has booked rooms over that date, but need one for just preventing booking the same room.
I have been tasked with creating a system for booking instructors with clients. Customers will book in for a lesson which can be anything from 30 mins to three hours long in half hour chunks. There are up to seven instructors available and I need to be able book up to six months in advance and hopefully display a daily screen with a grid showing who is booked out with who at various time of the day. Can anyone suggest some piece of freeware or example database to get me started?
I have been asked to research and then produce a simple seat booking system for a movie showing in a small lecture theatre using MS Access. I'm a relative Access newbie and have had little luck in finding information on how to go about producing this system.
If anyone could provide or link me to anything which could be of use that would be great.
I am going to do an online airline reservation system, and the database is going to be done using MS Access. The database contains 4 tables: Customers, Payments (Credit Card details), Booking, Flight.
Can someone help me do the relationships among the tables. My personal e-mail is russcami@yahoo.com.
When a customer makes a booking, all I need to do is check that there is less than 20 cats in the cattery for every day of the customer's intended visit range. This isn't the same as a car-hire system where if a car is out for one day during the intended hire, then the booking can't be made - it doesn't matter which pen a cat is put into, as long as there is a pen free for each day of their visit.
i.e. a customer wants to hire a ford escort from 1st-10th january but it is already booked for the 9th onwards - the booking can't be made.
a customer wants to put their cat in ANY pen from the 1st - 10th so it just depends on ONE pen being free for every day of this visit.
Any suggestions? My teachers are hopeless and I need to have implemented my system by 20th January!!! :eek: Thanks, Jayce
Is there some kind of Time picker function , i can see the date picker however i am using a booking system and have a field named 'time of booking' and i need something that can dump the exact system/online time into the field.
I have a table that has entries recorded with date and time in one field, and I want to have a query that returns all records of a specified date or date range, regardless of the time in the field.
I have tried
Code: Between [StartDate:] And [EndDate:]
And
Code: Between [StartDate:] & "00:00" And [EndDate:] & "23:59"
I have a staff rota system that works on a rolling 4 weekly basis. I am using a table to store the shifts of a person dependent on week. I want to be able to tell access that Monday on week 1 corresponds to a certain date and then get access to figure out the rolling system based on that date.
eg Monday 21/7/13 is week 1 (7 days later it knows it is linked to week 2)
This is so if a staff member is off sick I can say they were off sick on the 24th and it will populate their timesheet with the corresponding shift without me having to input it manually. Doable?
There are three tables. An [Action Register] table, a [Calls] table and a [tblContacts] table. The Contacts are common to both.
The Calls table records calls to customer by date
The Action Register table records issues that Customers send in by Open date.
I am trying to make a query where we see the latest date the customer was contacted regardless of which table.
I created two queries.
qryLastCallDate finds the max date from the Call table:
SELECT Max(Calls.CallDate) AS MaxOfCallDate, tblContacts.ContactName FROM Calls LEFT JOIN tblContacts ON Calls.ContactID = tblContacts.ContactID GROUP BY tblContacts.ContactName ORDER BY Max(Calls.CallDate);
qryLastIssueDate finds the max date from the Action Register table:
SELECT Max([Action Register].Open) AS MaxOfOpen, tblContacts.ContactName FROM tblContacts RIGHT JOIN [Action Register] ON tblContacts.ContactID = [Action Register].Contact GROUP BY tblContacts.ContactName ORDER BY Max([Action Register].Open);
The problem I am having is that if I use Left Join I can see all the records from the Calls table but not all from the Action Register table. And vis versa if I use Right Join. This is because sometimes we have calls but no issues in the Action Register table and sometimes issues with no calls.
This is my Left Join query using a Min Max Module I found here: [URL] ....
SELECT qryLastCallDate.ContactName, qryLastCallDate.MaxOfCallDate, qryLastIssueDate.MaxOfOpen, qryLastIssueDate.ContactName, DateValue(MaxOfList([MaxOfCallDate],[MaxOfOpen])) AS [Last Contact], ([Last Contact]+21) AS NextCall FROM qryLastCallDate LEFT JOIN qryLastIssueDate ON qryLastCallDate.ContactName = qryLastIssueDate.ContactName;
How do I get to see ALL the records from both queries.
I have a database that is used (partially) to enter appointments during a day. In the appointment column I've entered the date and time as dd-mmm-yyy-hh-nn-ss. I'm now trying to search for appointments entered on a specific day through a user input ([Enter Date] in the query criteria) Problem is, this only returns records where the time hasn't been entered and the time shows as 00:00:00.
I've tried CDate which gives me add/mmm/yyy return. if I try to search against that I get nil returns though. As a test I put DATE() in the criteria but it then says that it's an invalid foremat. I've also tried various machinations of "Like" and "Between" without success.
I am trying to use a query to find the previous record of a transaction and provide an additional field that computes the difference in the dates in days. (The days from TransferID 23 to TransferID 24)
I need to create a very simple database that would just store records and produce a couple of reports. I have three tables: one with the roster , one has records of the inventory items people from the roster receive and another one contains types of inventory we have. Everything is very simple except for one part. Every time we make a record of an inventory item given to someone, it requires not only employee id and inventory type from the existing tables. It needs us to enter a serial number of an item. This serial number contains a letter and a number.
Looks something like this - M100. Many people receive a consecutive set of inventory items. For example, from M100 to M150. There is no way to have a separate table with all serial numbers because they constantly change. That is why we need to have two text boxes that would allow us to input a range of serial numbers or just one number. Then the program should separate numbers from letters, evaluate the range, create new records of numbers and then put new numbers and a letter back together into one field in the table where we have all inventory records.
I found the following code online that allows me to find numbers within a range, but it only works for numbers.
Dim varRange As Variant Dim lngLow As Long Dim lngHigh As Long Dim lngCounter As Long DoCmd.Hourglass True
[code]...
I then found a piece of code that is supposed to separate numbers from letters, but I can't find a way to make it work.
Public Function FindNum(strName As String) As String Dim strTemp As String Dim i As Integer For i = 1 To Len(strName) strTemp = Mid(strName, i, 1) If (Asc(strTemp) < 91 And Asc(strTemp) > 64) Or (Asc(strTemp) < 128 And Asc(strTemp) > 96) Then FindNum = Right$(strName, Len(strName) - i) End If Next i End Function
how to alter the code to make it work for my specific situation.
I have a table in access database which contains a text field 'EDate' that stores Date value in format (12-Apr-2013). Now I want to run a sql query on that field. User will give an input date. The sql query needs to fetch me all the records from access database whose Edate is less than or equal to the user input date.
I am using DateValue function to convert my text filed Edate into date. My query is something like this:
select * from table_name where DateValue(EDate)<='user_input_date'
I am able to perform above task if the system language settings are 'English'. But if system language settings are different say Turkish, then the query fails.
I searched a lot on web and found that DateTime function compares test data with the system date time format and gives the result. Thus it fails with different language settings.
I used UNION ALL to get results from two queries and I Succeeded.Now I want these results to be in a date range, so I want to enter the "starting date" then the "End Date" to have may results in specific date range.This is the original code out of UNION ALL which is working fine:
SELECT Count(Patient.PatientID) AS CountOfPatientID, Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt FROM Patient GROUP BY Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt HAVING (((Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt) Not Like "")) UNION ALL SELECT Count(Patient.[PatientID]) AS CountOfPatientID, Patient.[CauseOfAmpLowerRt] FROM Patient GROUP BY Patient.[CauseOfAmpLowerRt] HAVING (((Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerRt) Not Like ""));
And this is what I tried:
SELECT Count(Patient.PatientID) AS CountOfPatientID, Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt FROM Patient GROUP BY Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt HAVING (((Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerLt) Not Like "")) UNION ALL SELECT Count(Patient.[PatientID]) AS CountOfPatientID, Patient.[CauseOfAmpLowerRt] FROM Patient GROUP BY Patient.[CauseOfAmpLowerRt] HAVING (((Patient.CauseOfAmpLowerRt) Not Like "") AND (PatientService.[Date of Service]) BETWEEN [Start Date] AND [End Date]);
I'm trying to produce a query that shows all records of patients that have a 'non-active' status (stored in the 'Patient Details' table) and haven't had any deliveries after 31/10/2011 (date stored in the 'Deliveries' table). I've tried a few different ways including using NOT IN (which access didn't like!) but I'm still no closer to getting the correct records.
I have two tables. One is about 160 thousand records, which is a part number, a contract price and a day the price took effect. The items appear several times. Prices go up and down over the course of the data, and items are added and dropped.The second table is a list of dated sales and quotes of those items over the past 14 months.(About 10 thousand lines)
I need to match the items with the contract price that existed on the day the quote or the sale was created, so as to demonstrate we were always at or below the contract price.
I am trying to create a simple database to keep track of employee Car Insurances and MOT information.I am trying to create a query that will show me the following:
When the field "motexpiry" is Empty OR has a date within 30 days from todays date (including if today's date is in the field) OR the date is in the past.It also needs to show records with the same criteria for the field "insuranceexpiry".
And needs to show records where the field "cowensform" is blank.These are all OR queries, so that as long as ONE of all of those criteria is met, the record shows up.Once that query works, I need a very similar query but only showing records where one or more of those criteria is met, but only if the record also has "Oldham" in the "area" field.
I can then copy that query and edit the "Oldham" bit to have a query for each of our area offices.I tried putting "Oldham" in the criteria line of the area field in the query design, but it seemed to have no affect.
How do you grab a custom Fiscal Year's values based on the system clock's date?
I am building a query where I want to see the number of closed cases based on the current custom fiscal year with the system clocks date. The report that it feeds only cares about the current FY.
I need the System Clock's FY value in this query
Code: SELECT shortname AS Station, NZ(TotalCount.TotalCases,0) AS [Cases Complete] FROM StationList LEFT JOIN (SELECT station, count([Open Issues].ID) AS TotalCases FROM [Open Issues] WHERE [Status]="Closed" GROUP BY Station) AS TotalCount ON StationList.shortname =TotalCount.station;
Within the Query Open Issues I have the FY broken up
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to input just one date range into a report that is accessing data from multiple table and multiple queries. I can create the report which gives me the info needed but I have to put the same date range in 3 or 4 time before the report is generated.
I'm using a form to select a date range. Using the following, and entering start date of 6/1/14 and end date of 7/1/14 I would expect to pull the records with a date of 7/1/14; however it doesn't. I have to enter and end date of 7/2/14 to pull 7/1/14 records.
>=[Forms]![F_Transaction_Date_Range]![txtStartDate] And <=[Forms]![F_Transaction_Date_Range]![txtEndDate]
I have a query that is hard coded with a date range.
SELECT tblCase.CaseId, tblCase.ReqReceived, tblCase.Letter_AMPI, FROM tblCase WHERE (((tblCase.Letter_AMPI) Between #4/1/2014# And #3/31/2015#)) OR (((tblCase.ReqReceived) Between #4/1/2014# And #3/31/2015#)) ORDER BY tblCase.CaseId;
I would like to create a parameter query that allows me to only enter the year and the query would append the rest of the date range. So for example, if I prompt the user to enter the date and they enter 2014, the query would know that it means Between #4/1/2014# And #3/31/2015# or if I enter 2015, it means Between #4/1/2015# And #3/31/2016#.As well the date would need to go into both fields ReqReceived and Letter_AMPI.
