Queries :: Change Field Format Within A Query

Sep 23, 2013

I'm having a format problem. I have a query (Q1) that, among other things format a date field as YYYYMM (Field1).

I have a second query (Q2) whose data source is Q1.

In Q2 I need to link Q1 to a table but Field1 is being reformatted as text (confirmed by running a make table query).

I want Field1 to be Number format to eliminate a mismatch error.

I know how to change the format of a field in a table using VBA but I cant seem to find a way of changing the format within a query.

I'm creating a query with VBA, then exporting it to Excel. I have a couple calculated date fields that are exporting in the format of dd-mmm-yy, but I want them in the mm/dd/yyyy format. In the query, they're in the proper format, but not in the export. I tried using Format([DateField],"mm/dd/yyyy"), but then they left align in the export, but are fine in the query.

I'm using the like [forms]![clients]![searchfield] in the criteria of the query to bring up results.

Queries :: Condition Format A Date Field

Aug 9, 2015

condition formatting a date field in access. The query used for this field produces a date or "NA" based on the formula below. so when the date shows up as "NA" then i have set the condition formatting of the cell to grey and this works works well. but when it shows up with a date it doesnt format to a grey.the formatting pane has these two expressions

1. Q_Induction_Date = "NA" then grey the cell

2. Q_Induction_Date < DATE() then grey the cell and this DOESNT work. i have also tried the function Now() and that doesnt work either.

Formula i use in the query is

Q_Induction_Date: IIf([y].[INDUCTION_NA]=-1,"NA",IIf(IsNull([induction_date]),"NA",Format([induction_date],"dd/mm/yyyy")))

Queries :: Access 2003 - Querying With Odd Date Format?

May 7, 2013

I'm using Access 2003 connecting through ODBC. I'm trying to set up an automated query to grab today's data. normally it's pretty easy, all you'd have to do is enter date() in the criteria in an access query. Unfortunately, the date in my database (i can't change this) is in an odd format.

example: april 1st, 2013 = 1130401

Every single date always has that preceding "1" in front of it, then the year, then the month, and finally the day.

I want to always specify the current date whenever the query is run (without having to type it in)

Someone decided to be clever and send a text file with a stupid date format, is it possible to show off a little here and get a working date format, it's a text file I am working with: Dec 18 2014 01:12PM.

Not that is an exactly cut/paste so spaces are as they are here, ideally would like to get 18/12/14 13:12.

Queries :: Conditional Change To Date Query?

Feb 13, 2014

i need to clean up a date field (I hate dates in access!). The field in the table (imported from a spreadsheet) has records where users have simply entered a date in the correct format and then others where users feel obliged to add comments after the date rather in the 'Comments' section. Therefore Cdate alone won't work.

So far i have tried:

Code:

IIf(Len([TabDL].[PROMISE]<>10),#1/1/1900#,CDate([TabDL].[PROMISE])) AS PromiseDt1

The intention being to insert a holding date 01/01/1900 if the field contains too many characters to be a date alone. I've tried multiple variations of this code but keep getting errors across the board. Is my logic or Syntax flawed?

Queries :: Link Table To Represent Data - Format Text As Date

Nov 15, 2013

I have a link table that has a field that represents dates - but they are actually just text. It's a long story but the source is not going to change - so I have to try and deal with it. I need it to behave as a date - and am hoping to do this in a query. The data looks like this:

7/24/12
10/08/13

I have tried various things but it does not seem to totally do the trick - if I sort on it it still does not sort as one would expect from an actual date field. How do I do this?

Queries :: Converting CSV File Into Text Format - Export Records With Specific Series And Date

Jun 7, 2015

I have a CSV file and want to convert it in a text format with some filtered data and with some formatting. This is an everyday task for me. So I made a table and imported the data in to it by the command :

DoCmd.TransferText acImportDelim, "fo Import Specification", "fo", FileName:="C:UserswelcomeDesktopfo.csv", HasFieldNames:=True

Actually I have a column "SERIES", contains various series like "EQ", "BE", "DR", "BZ", "D1" and so on. And one more column with the dates having 4 / 5 current months dates and one next months date and one next to next month's date. And every date has got several thousand records.

now the issue is that : After importing these several thousand records, I want to export it but with a specific date and with a specific series.

The other thing is that, these dates change every month so if hard coded, the problem will occur the next month.

I use this code for export :

DoCmd.TransferText acExportDelim, "NewFnoSpec", "fnoquery", "C:UserswelcomeDesktopFO Output.txt", True

this code is working fine but when the month will change, the code won't work.

Can we have a date & series picker attached to this query, so it can export the records with the specified SERIES & DATE.

I tried putting a textbox on the form named TxtDate and in a Query ( Design mode ) under the date column, in criteria I have put [Forms]![Futures]![TxtDate] and after putting this line, the query becomes empty and no data is there.

I wanted to assign the field "Number of magazine" with special format based on date/time format but showing only year and month in the format: "yyyy-mm".

So in property of this field in format I put yyyy-mm and in input mask I type 0000-00;;-

I also created the form based on the table containing above field and I defined format and input mask for corresponding formant in the same way like at the table.

But if I try to type date for example 2014-01 in text box of the form it comes up with the full date 2014-01-01. Why does it do like this? What do I do incorrectly?

Forms :: Date Format To Fiscal Week Format

Jul 30, 2013

I have a list of dates in the mm/dd/yyyy format and I am looking to get it into the fiscal format of yyyyww. I am able to do this with the datepart and format functions, but I need to make it so that the fiscal month begins in January but the first week starts if there are three or more days in the week. For instance if Jan 1st is a Friday then this stands as the first fiscal week, if it is a Saturday then it does not count as the first week.

datepart and format functions have the Use the first week in the year that has at least 4 days for the firstweekofyear option but I need it where it has at least three to make it work.

Change Format To Percentage

Aug 7, 2013

I have a "make table" query. Inside that query there is a simple expression that divides two fields by one another to arrive at a %. Example 5/100=5%. However, the data returned is not in a % format.I know that I can go into table properties and change the fromat to "percentage", but that will only work for the current table that I have created. Once I re-run the "make table" query, I lose the change to the format, and my value again returns to a number, not a %..

Is there any way to always have a percentage returned without having to manually change the format each time that I run the query, or having to make a "delete" and "append query" ?

Change Field Format Using VBA

Sep 21, 2014

I have a table that contains information along with a field named "Date Input" and then a calculated field called "Due NLT Date". New records are appended to this table daily. The calculated "Due NLT Date" field is simply "[Date Input]+5".

In some unforeseen circumstances the "Due NLT Date" field needs to be extended to 6 or 7 days from the "Date Input". I am trying to find a way adjust the number of days using a command button/VBA getting the desired number of days either from an input box or from a txt box on a form.

I have been playing with using SQL ALTER TABLE in VBA but can't get it to work.

I'd image it would look something like this but how to write it correctly:

RunSQL ALTER TABLE "table" FIELD "field" to calculated "[Date Input]+ & input box "Enter number of days""
