Queries :: Clearing List Box Then Requery

I have two list box that control 5 subforms. i have a Run button that works in sorting the subforms according to the listbox. I have a rest button that i want to clear the selections of the listbox and then requery the subforms as if the criteria were null - or return all records. i have the selections clearing, it is just my forms are not "going back to all" on the requery.

i have a form with cascading combo boxes, all of which are set to requery the combo boxes below, however i have one which is Service SubType, and it should requery Provider and Subjective, however it only clears the Provider and the previously selected subjective is still there, when you click on the downarrow it does give you the new list of subjectives.

my code looks like this:

Me.cmbSubjective.Requery

how to get it to clear the boxes I have asked it to requery.

Forms :: Clearing Item List From 2nd Form

My main form has a list box - user selects an item in the list box for editing. The selected item displays in a text box on the subform where the editing is to be done. User than makes corrections to the text box and clicks a button to save the changes. I have all of this working. But I can't figure out how to update the main form on this save button.

What is happening right now is the main form is not updating at all and the original selection in the list box is still highlighted. If I click within the list box, the list box updates with the correct entry.

What I need to happen is when the save button is clicked, that the listbox updates and the selection in the list box is deselected and then set focus on another text box that is on the main form.

(I was doing this as 2 separate forms and the edit form opened after the user selected the item and clicked a button (kept the first form open but not visible and based the text box on the list box) This worked but again when the user saved and returned to the first form even though I was able to setfocus to the text box, the list box kept the selection highlighted.)

Requery List Box From Another Form Vba

I have a main form....I click a button on this form and another form opens...an edit is made....(BOTH MUST BE OPEN)
WHen I close this form I want to Refresh a List box on the Main form to reflect this edit.

I am trying this with no success

MainForm.SubFormName.Requery

MainForm.SubFormName.Refresh

What am I doing wrong????

Not In List, Requery, Save Variable

Hi. I just ran across this forum. It looks like I could learn alot here.

I have been searching for some code, and have found two of the three items that I need to make this work. To make this simple, I have two forms and two tables. One form for Contacts (with addresses) and one form that has the Contacts information together with a list of their responsibilities. Say I have the Responsibilities form open, and type in a contact name in an unbound combo box. I believe this was the case, as the unbound combo box was being used to update the contact information down below on the form. I'd like to invoke an event procedure if the contact isn't in the list. I've found various vbscript to handle this in the "not in list" property. If they are not in the list, I'd like it to save the name typed in, open the Contacts form to add the new contact and their information. This I have done. When I close that form, I'd like the procedure to go back to the original Responsibilities form, requery the table (or is it really requery the combo box?), insert the new name into the combo box, and update what contact information resides on the Responsibilities form.

I've seen info on the requery portion, as I've run into the same problem of the name not being in the combo box, unless I close the Responsibilities form and then open it back up.

But I haven't seen an example where everything is put together with saving the contact name (as a variable???) and then putting the contact name in the Contacts form and then back in the combo box on the Responsibilities form.

If someone has an example, or could steer me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it. I understand some of this stuff, but don't really have the vbscript understanding. But I'm good at using examples with prewritten code and manipulating to work with my forms and field names.

Requery Failing To Add New Record To Form List

Hi,

I have inherited a buggy database thas has a simple piece of code that won't behave the way I think it should!
The code should add a new record and have that new record appear on the list form (where the button On_Click event is called) making it available for user edditing. In 99% of cases though, the blank new record does not appear. The record is getting created, as i can see it in the table and have added a watch to the RecordCount property, it just doesn't display automatically. The existing workaround for users is to click a second button that invokes a simple one line function sub that performs only a Me.Requery. The user presses that up to two or three times before the new blank record finally appears.

One solution I read about, but hesitated in trying due to the unprofessional 'flash' that occurs, was to close the form and the re-open it...anyone experienced this or can comeup with a neat workaround?

I have a form called Add New Delegation, i have combo box of Institution names on the main form and a subform for Agreements discussed. with a combo box called agreements. I successfully cascaded the combo boxes so that the agreements discussed on the subform are filtered by their respective institutions on the main form. However i am unable to refresh the list each time a new institution is selected as the Macro will not allow me to requery a control on the mainform from the subform..

In my access form I provide the user a list of locations from various countries in a listbox . But the list is too long so I provide him a combobox for selecting a country. Selecting the country should update the listbox showing only the locations in that specific country.

So my SELECT from the listbox must cover the unselected state and show all entries and when a country is selected it must narrow the selection.

I tried to get this happen with the following SELECT statement containing a variable. Choosing a country in the Combobox results in a change of the variable and in a requery. This works after the first country is selected and for each country change, but the initial list is empty.

VBA in the loadform

I'm looking to move an excel sheet to access because the row counts are too much.The main thing it does is compare the supplied data against a list I hold in the sheet.There are not duplicate records, however..Some data is a direct lookup for a full match, but much of it is a count to see how many records contain a certain string.

I have 500 keywords which have a countif function in using wildcards.I need to create a query/report which will return a list of records from the original list which contains each keyword featured and how many times it features.I was going to do it in PHPmysql but the time it took to parse a million records for every keyword made it pointless.

eg:
keywords:
look
billy
magic

list:
"have a look and see"
"spanish dave"
"who is billy brag"
"looky looky I go hooky"
"who's the man from argentina"
"could it be magic now"

my spreadsheet would return a 1 next to ""billy" and "magic" and would put a 2 next to "look".

the sheet has the keyword in each row and next to the column:
=COUNTIF(list,CONCATENATE("*@",B13))
where "list" is the external data.

Is there a way to append a pivot table to a table or possibly make a query based on a pivot table? I need to get a count of Part Numbers and I need the average price for all these parts. Additionally I want to ignore a count of less than 3.

Also I am having trouble filtering on the count in the pivot table... haha, so I was gonna Query on it later on.

Im not sure what is the best way to go about this.

I have a table with 8000 records and on one of the fields the department name is wrong. eg should be "Marketing", but some records have the name "Marke" or "Marketi"

Is there an easy way to update this field to add on the missing characters ?

On a form I have 2 search unbound fields called keysearchword and guestsearchword. Each has an On Exit event that performs their respective searches.

However, after the first find, I see a "(filtered)" next to the correctly displayed records. At this point however, I can't even get the cursor into the second guestsearchword field.

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

Automatically Clearing Data

I have been tweaking my friend's database for him. I included some sample data in the main table (ficticious names and addresses etc.) and in a linked table.

I want to leave the sample data in so my friend understands how the database works. However, once he has tested it, he will want to blank those tables (not all tables, though), and reset the primary keys to start from 1 again.

Can I have a button on a form that will do this? Obviously with an OK/cancel message box. If so, how?

The tables are called Main and Workshops.

Clearing Parameter In Query

I have a query parameter that I'm running from a form and it works fine the first time. Pops up and asks me for the parameter with no problem and the query runs fine. However, if I run the same query again it doesn't ask me for the parameter - it just takes whatever I entered the first time. How do I clear this so it always asks me for the parameter?

Clearing Password Input Box

I have set up a simple password system to allow someone to have access to some forms within my database that I don't want others to see. I have created a pop up form for the password based on using the Input Mask Password. The password log in works fine but the password stays in the input box so if another user clicks on the button that brings up the password pop up form, all they have to do is press enter or click the command button and they are through.
How can I get the password input box to clear itself - probably on closing the password form?
I'm sure it's a simple piece of code but my knowledge of VB is limited and everything I have tried brings up an error of one sort or another.

This does clear the text box however it deletes the information from the table to, which i do not want to happen. I'm looking for a way to clear the fields from a form after I finish entering data into all the fields (enter button or something). The form only displays one record at a time. My problem is that after a distraction (phone call, etc) I sometimes wind up coming back and entering data in the last displayed record which messes up that record. Or is there a way to automatically advance to a blank form when finished with a record?......

Clearing MS Outlook Reminder

I have created an email message to be sent via a closing button on a form, using the DoCmd.SendObject command. It all works fine except that MS Outlook then puts a message box on the screen with a countdown bar saying that MS Access is trying to access Outlook and to press Yes if this is to be allowed.

Is there any way that I can disable this message box please. I appreciate that this is more an Outlook problem than an Access one, but some database programmer has probably come across the same problem before.

Queries :: Creating A List Based On Multiple Queries

I have 3 select queries which Im trying to output to a combo - Ive tried a UNION query but I get an error

ODBC-- call failed ODBC Driver SQLBase.....

Firstly is do the results need to match within a union query? I mean they have no relationship what so ever Im just trying to populate this combo with the same results.

Secondly is there a better way to do it? 2 of the select queries query a linked SQL table and the third is a local table. All of the select queries work on their own.
