View RepliesI have a problem with Microsoft access 2003. I want to design a Check in/Check out Time Data base for my university final term project. In this data base I need to show the total of the working hours of each personnel in a month.( for instance: 124 hours and 55 minutes in one month). But adding up the hours, when the time variable reaches 24 then time automatically goes back to 01:00. As a result, the correct total hours cannot be calculated....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a query that has a self referencing running total based on the values (point totals) of itself (running total of values in the running total column that have already been calculated for all previous records) plus the total of new points being added in the current record, less the total of points being removed in the current record. This running total can never go below 0, if it does, the running total should restart at zero and add in only new points and begin the process again with the next records
I am able to do this in Excel in less than two seconds so I know there has to be a way to port this into a query. I've attached an excel example of what I am exactly trying to do
If it takes multiple queries to complete the required output I am ok with it. In my previous outtakes I have had up to 8 queries but just couldn't seem to do it..
I have a report (Access 2007) with multiple totals and subtotals. However, one field, whenever I click "show Grand Total," always shows up all akimbo (out of line with the other grand totals), unbound and without the nifty little blue "grand total bar" above it.
View 1 Replies View Relatedcreate a datasheet from 2 odbc linked tables which I will be exporting to Excel. The resulting datasheet will have four columns, 'Purchase Order Number' 'Stock Code' 'Delivery Date' 'Unit Price'. The information I require in the datasheet is a unique stock code (one occurrence of each stock code) with the most recent unit price based on the last delivery date for each product. The linked tables contain many Purchase Orders for the same stock codes over a time period of a number of years where the unit price has varied.

The query is already completed and I figured out how to do the row total but can't figure out how to create total column. Can I not add a total column in design view? How would I do that?

Now for the final output, have created another query which pull the above four quarter in each column from the cross tab...now the problem arises when i change the quarter to Q2 2014, Q3 2014, Q4 2014 & Q1 2014..it gives an error "Microsoft office Access database does not recognizes "Query name" as a valid field name or expression".
The error is because the second layer of query does not identifies Q1 2014.
How do i make access change the column automatically when the Q1 changes to Q2...

How to make pdf file in access 2003.
I want to make pdf of a report in access 2003.
I am trying to aggregate IIF functions to give me the total in separate columns (fields) according to the criteria applied however I am getting an error message "You tried to execute a query that does not include the specific expression
'IIF(Tbl_SKG.Value_Grp = 1,sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.ValuePay),0)'
as part of an aggregate function, and I cannot find why, The query is as follows:

Tbl_Advisor_raw.Month,
Sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.ValuePay) AS ValuePay,
Sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.Salary) AS Salary,
Sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.NetRevenue) AS NetRevenue,

I'm using Access 2003 connecting through ODBC. I'm trying to set up an automated query to grab today's data. normally it's pretty easy, all you'd have to do is enter date() in the criteria in an access query. Unfortunately, the date in my database (i can't change this) is in an odd format.
example: april 1st, 2013 = 1130401
Every single date always has that preceding "1" in front of it, then the year, then the month, and finally the day.
I want to always specify the current date whenever the query is run (without having to type it in)
I can't get this to work! I am re-using a database to create new reporting. It was a technician utilization database that I am reworking to show weekend days worked. I changed the date format to Long Date to show the day, then started a query. The query is looking for *Saturday* but pulls nothing in the date field that I just changed to Long Date. What am I missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a table of transactions (close to 1m records) from which I want to query totals by currency and direction (ins and outs) and then also show the proportion of the overall total for each currency. All amounts are absolute (i.e. ins and outs both represented by positive numbers)
To throw some added complexity into the mix, the transaction table records only refer to account (AccountID), which links to a separate account and currency tables.
I can query the sum totals by currency and direction (although I'm not totally happy with the SQL syntax .
Code:
SELECT tblCurrencies.CurrencyCode,
tmp1.SumPay,
tmp1.SumPayUSD,
tmp2.SumRec,
tmp2.SumRecUSD
[Code] .....
I'm struggling to get the proportions per currency though? I tried adding :
Code:
((SumPayUSD+SumRecUSD)/Sum(tblTransactions.USDAmount)) AS Proportion
But it tells me that the specified field 'tblTransactions.USDAmount' could refer to more than one table listed in the FROM clause of the SQL statement.
I'm stuck in Access 2003 - the group I am working with is unwilling to upgrade due to costs, and I've inherited this database (or I should say, a glorified spreadsheet), so unfortunately I am stuck with the tools that I have to use.
So I have Table A:MemberID (autonumber, Primary Key)
NameLast (Text)
NameFirst (Text)
TLBeginner (Yes/No) - Training level
TLIntermediate (Yes/No) - Training level
TLContinuing (Yes/No) - Training level
TLAdvanced (Yes/No) - Training level
I have created Query1 with the above table and added in a calculated field which essentially takes the training levels and converts it to a decimal number (basing it off a binary number of the 4-bits/Yes-no fields) with the calculated field below:
TrLevelTxtID: IIf([TLFundamental]=True,1,0)*1 + IIf([TLIntermediate]=True,1,0)*2 + IIf([TLContinuing]=True,1,0)*4 + IIf([TLAdvanced]=True,1,0)*8
So the calculated field works great - Depending what training levels are selected or not selected, I get a range between 0 through 15.
Table B: I want a list of "friendly name" for the different training levels.
TLID (Number, No duplicates)
TLFriendlyText (Text)
So what I want to be able to do, is to have Query1, that will pull the training level text (TLFriendlyText) within the query based on the calculated field (TrLevelTxtID). The catch is, I can't seem to create a join between the two tables with the calculated field.
Ideally, I want the final query to pull, [NameFirst], [NameLast] from TableA and [TrLevelTxtID] (from TableB) based on the queries calculated field [TrLevelTxtID].
How best to achieve this with the Access 2003 limitations. Also, this query will only be used for reporting/mail merging so there are no update requirements or concerns.
MS Office 2003..I have 7 queries that I use to export data to one excel workbook. Inside the workbook are 7 worksheets, one for each query. I have it working but I dont know how to save the exports steps like I did in AC2010.
I export the data by right clicking on each query and select export , then I browse to the workbook and because each query is named differently , it names the worksheet. I have to run these 7 queries each month , so I would like to save the steps and then build a macro that would run all seven steps at the push of a button.
I have saved the steps on a PC running MS office 2010 and the macro works great. The problem is this resides on a PC that cant be upgraded and I need to make it work on Access 2003 .
Hi,
1) I am pretty newbie to this access programming, do forgive me if my questions sounds stupid.
2) Basically I create an application in access capturing or production information for my company. now the top management suddenly wanted whats their main concern:- Total Daily/Monthly, Quarterly, Annual Sales (By Model If possible)
3) I start with daily (Lets don't be too overly ambitious).
4) I try to let user select dates from my calender control and reflect daily sales (in Total & By Model break down) insert into my form.
5) Understand someone told me from my previous post in Calender control I can achieve it either through forms or queries, which is a better way. (in terms of flexibility to change for program maintenance/ scalibility) wise ?
PS: Please forgive my ignorance :o:(
Thanks (In advance) & God Bless.
I have a query like this
SELECT qryBONUS_pre.PACIENT_ID, Sum(qryBONUS_pred.TOTAL) AS SumOfTOTAL
FROM qryBONUS_pre.TOTAL
GROUP BY qryBONUS_pre.PACIENT_ID;
I like SumOfTOTAL to put into a variable
How to do it
I have a table with dates in field1 and an amount of seconds in field2.
field1 field2
01/01/2015, 1345
02/01/2015, -132
04/01/2015, 259
I would like to produce a query that performs a running total in the third column like so:
field1 field2 field3
01/01/2015, 1345, 1345
02/01/2015, -132, 1213
04/01/2015, 259, 1472
This is quite simple to achieve in Excel. (eg =SUM($B$1:B3))
What is the query formula for Access?
The results of my union query of 2 separate tables looks like:
Name - Count of Participations
Joe Blow - 7
Harry Smith - 11
Kate Upshaw - 8
Joe Blow - 3
Harry Smith - 5
Kate Upshaw - 13
I need to combine the duplicate names and total their participations to make a report look like:
Name - Count of Total Participations
Joe Blow - 10
Harry Smith - 16
Kate Upshaw - 21
the relevant fields look something like this:
TellerNum - Date - Field1 - Field2 - Field2
I need a way for my query to take all rows with the same TellerNum and add Field1, Field2, and Field3 together for those records. So, there may be 20 records with the same TellerNum, and I need Field 1, 2, and 3 to be added together and then totaled for all 20 records to give me 1 grand total. I need this to be done for each TellerNum, so that the results will be a grand total for each TellerNum. So, the results may look something like this:
TellerNum 1: 486
TellerNum 2: 300
TellerNum 3: 240
etc..
I have a database of people who have a "Joined" date. i.e. 09/1/2012. I would like to set up a query that tells me how long (in years) that they joined.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am creating a line graph from a running total query to show our income from items shipped for each month. Currently I have the following Code in my query which works but it displays the month as a number in my graph and I would like it to show the Month name.
Code:
SELECT DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]) AS AYear, DatePart("m",[ShippedDate]) AS AMonth, DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) AS ADay, Format(DSum("SalesPrice","tblJobs","DatePart('d', [ShippedDate])<=" & [ADay] & " AND DatePart('m', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AMonth] & " AND DatePart('yyyy', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AYear] & ""),"Currency") AS RunTot

ORDER BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("m",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]);
I tried this solution, but I get an error in the RunTot field, I'm assuming because Access can't use the month name in dsum.
Code:
SELECT DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]) AS AYear, MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])) AS AMonth, DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) AS ADay, Format(DSum("SalesPrice","tblJobs","DatePart('d', [ShippedDate])<=" & [ADay] & " AND MonthName(DatePart('m', [ShippedDate]))<=" & [AMonth] & " AND DatePart('yyyy', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AYear] & ""),"Currency") AS RunTot
FROM tblJobs
WHERE (((tblJobs.ShippedDate) Is Not Null))
GROUP BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate])
ORDER BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]);
Do any of you know a way I can make this work?
I've just made this query at work, it brings up the results from a database of telephone surveys. about going all gestapo on the table names and codes, I'm unsure as to how told off I could get for placing identifiable images on the internet

basically I would like to extend this query so it shows the sum of the "CountOfQ1 22" column and also shows what percentage of that total each entry in the "Q1 22" column is.
This will enable me to have results for the day sent to me at home every night at close of business as the person supervising the call centre at the time can run the query and email me the results.
I currently have a query that pulls selected data from a table. There can be multiple rows of data, and two columns include dollar amounts and quantities. I have a total line going at the bottom so I can see the Grant Total of all the rows (for dollar amounts and quantity).
Is it possible to add a column to this query that will calculate the expression:..?
=Grand Total of Dollar Amts for selected data/Grand Total of Quantity for selected data
I tried to use a query in a query, but must have done something wrong because it just said circular reference.
