Jan 20, 2014
Looking to have a count function which calculate data in sense like if records found on 1-jan-2014 the it give answer as 1, same as records for 2-jan-2014 it should return 2 and so on .. in short the criteria must look and give same number for same dates starting from 1

I have written a user defined function that calculates the end of the current month. This I named EndOfThisMonth. It works well as a function. Now I would like to use it as date criteria to include in a query. The function is included as such EndOfThisMonth().
The field on which this function is to enter as a criteria is another calculated date function called Due.
When I run this query I get an error message saying Undefined Function 'EndOfThisMonth' in expression.

I'm using the following function to calculate date diff in network days (excluding weekends)
Public Function NetWorkdays(dteStart As Date, dteEnd As Date) As Integer
Dim intGrossDays As Integer
Dim dteCurrDate As Date
Dim i As Integer
intGrossDays = DateDiff("d", dteStart, dteEnd)
NetWorkdays = 0
[Code] ....
So when using this function in a query to get number of networkdays between 2 date columns ...it works fine but throws a #Error where there is blank entries in either of 2 date columns...
I need to find a way to display Null instead of #Error...
I have tried this expression but no luck...
IIf(IsError(NetWorkdays([Date1],[Date2])),"",NetWorkdays([Date1],[Date2]))

I have the following code
SELECT Count(T_STUDENTS.studentsID) AS res1yes, T_COACHING.COACH1res, T_COACHING.COACH1port, T_COACHING.COACHworkgroup
FROM T_STUDENTS, T_COACHING
WHERE (((T_STUDENTS.res_vrijstelling)=False) And ((T_STUDENTS.stud_year)="1") And ((T_STUDENTS.stud_coach)=forms!F_cboCOACHING!cboCOACHING))
GROUP BY T_COACHING.COACH1res, T_COACHING.COACH1port, T_COACHING.COACHworkgroup;
It runs fine, untill the moment the count is 0. At that point it breaks the form. How can i tell access to deal with this? Somehow i need to replace the count result with 0 if there are no records that meet the criteria.

I have a query in my database called "Open Date" which is a date formatted field when imported as DD/MM/YYYY. The criteria is set to:
>=#06/04/2014# And <=#05/04/2015#
The query works just fine. My customer has come back and asked for the way the date is displayed to be in the YYYY-MM-DD format (i know it's not ideal but thats what they want). When i've done that using the following
Format([Table].[Open Date],"yyyy-mm-dd")
The query then returns no data.

I am trying to calculate the difference in dates between two fields. How do I find the difference in days between field one which contains the date 04/12/2011 and field two which contains the date 04/12/2013? I have tried to use the datediff function, but it keeps telling me it doesn't recognize the field name, even though the spellings correct.

I am trying to count how many of the "same" and "differences", as well as calculate the percentages of the number of "same" over the total amount. To clarify, I work at a nursing home, and I need to calculate the number of people who were admitted to our facility and then to the hospital for the same diagnosis, and a different diagnosis. Then, out of the total number of people who were admitted to the hospital from our facility, I need to calculate how many of those people had the same diagnosis or a different diagnosis.
Also, I need to categorize these diagnosis by each type of diagnosis.

Hi
I have a table which has information the count of students in classrooms around the university and I need to summarize the table by Faculty. Therefore, all I want to do is a count of students for each faculty i.e. Art and Design, Business and Law etc.
The query i put together is: SELECT Count([tbl_Audited Classroom for Week 02].Faculty) AS CountOfFaculty
FROM [tbl_Audited Classroom for Week 02]
HAVING (((Count([tbl_Audited Classroom for Week 02].Faculty))="BAL"));
So when I run the query I get the error message 'Data Type mismatch in criteria expression'. The Faculty field is a text field, so I don't know if that would make a difference.
Can you please help?
thanks

Table Field not accepting data from the Form function, count.
On the Form with the properties displaying the field, in the Control Source I have the following formula; "= count([OccupantName])
Now this does calculate properly except that the data in not saved to the table field.
Is the above count statement wrong?
Or does this need to be done another way? If so how?
Does anyone know of another way to have the computer count information on a Form that can be saved to a table field?

I am using a function to set criteria in a an query. It reads the selected values from a combobox on a form and passes the appropriate value into the sql criteria.
E.g., the sql criteria is set to : like fnCountry()
And the function fnCountry() is something like;
If SelectedCountry = "All" Then
fnCountry = "*"
else fnCountry = SelectedCountry
end if
This works fine for a single selection (SelectedCountry = Africa) but doesn't work if I try to combine multiple selections into the criteria string.
E.g. SelectedCountry = Africa Or Italy
So the criteria would need to be
Like "Africa" Or like "Italy"
How else can i build this criteria with multiple values?

I have a table similar to the following
area q30 q40 q60
A 2 1 3
B 1 1 3
A 2 1 3
A 1 1 3
C 1 1 3
C 1 1 3
A 1 1 3
A 1 1 3
B 1 1 3
C 1 2 3
A 1 1 3
B 1 2 3
Grouping by the area and using the criteria
(Q30 = 1 AND Q40 = 1 AND (Q60 = 1 OR 2 OR 3))
I would like to see a table similar to the one below counting those which fulfils the criteria mentioned above
Area COUNT
A 4
B 2
C 2

want my query to count only records that are not duplicated based on a set of criteria.I have a table with customer IDs and Call dates and the employee ID. I want a count of the call dates for each customer ID for each employee. However I only want to count as one occurrence if multiple calls happened on the same day. For example
Cust_ID Call_Dt
12315 8/1/2013
12315 8/1/2013
12315 8/1/2013
14253 9/1/2013
Customer ID 12315 would only count a 1 call entry instead of 3 for the date of 8/1/2013

I currently have a form where users can enter an "End Date", click a button, and it queries the data from 12 months prior to "End Date" entered.
Is there a way to force the query to show all 12 months, even if there are no records for a particular month? For example: if the user enters February 2013 in the date field, I would like the query to return:
March 2012
April 2012
May 2012
June 2012
July 2012
August 2012
September 2012
October 2012
November 2012
December 2012
January 2013
February 2013
...so even if June 2012 has no records, it is included in the query with a value of zero.
This is what I have so far:
WHERE (((Qry_Tbl_Assets.Dte) Between DateAdd("m",-12,[Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]) And [Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]))

I've got a table with 23 columns. Column 1 is the ID row which has a unique client ID in it. Then we've got a column called 1st_Reason and one that goes with it called 1st_Transfer_Date. This pair repeats for 2 through 10. Each of the Reason columns can have a set value, for example "First Processor".
What I need to do is create a date with months on the Y axis and the 5 different reasons on the X axis. I need to count the number of "First Processor" across all 10 Reason columns for each month. I would need to repeat that for each other reason type, but if I can get one to work I can simply change the reason type.
I'm pretty new at Access queries so I don't know how to use a count statement to pull from all those queries AND get the corresponding date to be in range.

I need a formula to calculate date cycles.
Each person have an employment date on which a 3 year cycle is based.
So at the end of their 3 years the cycle needs to update to the next 3 year cycle.
For example
Person Employment date Cycle Start
1 01 Jan 2015 01 Jan 2015
2 01 Jan 2006 01 Jan 2012
In the case of Person 2 above the cycle would have started at 2006 - 2009 and then moved to 2009 - 2012 and then 2012 - 2015 and now 2015 - 2018
I have the following formula at the moment but need to make 100% I'm not missing something.
Also - would it be fine to run the update query each time for all persons or must it be only for the ones where the current date does not fall within the current 3 year cycle?
CycleStart = DateAdd("yyyy",Int(DateDiff("d",[EmpDate],Date())/365/3)*3,[EmpDate])
Would value your input on another way to do this as well.

Is there a way to take today's date and calculate the last day of the last month? Without the user needing to enter any parameters. In other words, if I ran the query today with this criteria, it would only show information for April 30, 2013. Is that possible?

Sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.ValuePay) AS ValuePay,
Sum(Tbl_Advisor_raw.Salary) AS Salary,

I have a list of employees and sort criteria. for example
empID....Criteria
1234......T
1234......F
1234......T
1234......F
1235......F
1236......T
1236......F
1236......F
1236......F
1236......T
1236......T
1237......F
The output I am looking for is a count of the number of times T appears by an employee, BUT is there is no record it would return 0
E.G.
empID......Count
1234...........2
1235...........0
1236...........3
1237...........0
I can get it to return:
empID......Count
1234...........2
1236...........3
using Count and the criteria Where Criteria="T" but not returning zeros.

Any way to use multiple count functions in a query with their own individual filters without affect the others?
For example:
SELECT [E&I Table].System, [E&I Table].DeleteRecord, Count([E&I Table].[Status#1]) AS [CountOfStatus#1], Count([E&I Table].[Status#2]) AS [CountOfStatus#2]
FROM [E&I Table]
WHERE ((([E&I Table].[Status#1]) Like "ITR Rcv'd by QA" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#1]) Like "Completed" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#1]) Like "Ready for T/O" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#1]) Like "Reviewed by JVV") AND (([E&I Table].[Status#2]) Like "ITR Rcv'd by QA" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#2]) Like "Completed" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#2]) Like "Ready for T/O" Or ([E&I Table].[Status#2]) Like "Reviewed by JVV"))
GROUP BY [E&I Table].System, [E&I Table].DeleteRecord;
I am trying to count in each column of the E&I table with criteria using WHERE but the problem is when you have more than 1 WHERE it affects the other columns as well... tried a bunch of different ways and I am now having to create seperate Queries than combine them using another Query...

I want to build a query that calculates the fiscal year and the month from a date on-the-fly. I tried to do it in VBA, but it's more complicated than in query I guess. So this is my table:
The date is on the left, in the middle I want to have calculated Jan 14 and on the right I want 14/15.
In VBA I started with this: strMonth = MonthName(Month(A), True) & " " & Format(A, "YY") which gave me "Jan 08". But the date was hard-coded and not from my table. Then I tried to store the information by SQL statement into a string. But this also didn't work, the types were different.
Code:
UPDATE tblSAPOD
SET sapOD_month = Year([sapOD_OrderDate])-IIf([sapOD_OrderDate]<
DateSerial(Year([sapOD_OrderDate]),6,16),1,0)
WHERE sapOD_OrderDate Like "*/*/94";
.. but I guess it's wrong, it gives me a syntax error.

I want the Query Criteria to pull its value from a control on a form.The form control either has data or is null. (My problems occur when the form control is Null). The field in the table either has data, is null or is blank.
Code:
=IIf(IsNull([Forms]![FormName]![FormControl]),"" Or Is Null,[Forms]![FormName]![FormControl])
This works for the records with fields that are blank.
Code:
=IIf(IsNull([Forms]![FormName]![FormControl]),"",[Forms]![FormName]![FormControl])
This works for the records with fields that have data.
Code:
Like IIf(IsNull([Forms]![FormName]![FormControl]),"*",[Forms]![FormName]![FormControl])
This works for the records with fields that are Null or Blank if i drop the iif function but then i lose the ability to pull criteria data from the form control.
Code:
"" Or Is Null
