Queries :: Counting Records Which Exceeds Monthly Average Value
Nov 14, 2013
I am currently working on a small database to track my own investment records.
I would like to create the function which enable to count the number of records that has exceeds the average value during that period.
Following is the SQL that I have managed to produce:
SELECT [ED 2013].Code, Count([ED 2013].Start) AS CountOfOpen1
FROM [ED 2013]
WHERE [ED 2013]![Date] Between #1/1/2013# And #2/1/2013# AND [ED 2013]![Start]>[ED 2013]![End]
GROUP BY [ED 2013].Symbol;
This SQL does work. However, when I try to add the Avg function. The Query stop working.
Meanwhile, I am wondering if there is any existing Ms Access template (free or commercial - but must be customisable ) available?
On the below data i am trying to get average monthly BALANCE, based on the following query ....but i only getting all records with actual balance and not month wise average balance of the customers......
----------------------------------- SELECT [customer profit].[Customer Number], AVG ([customer profit].[VAL_BAL]) AS average, Month ([customer profit].[Balance Date]) FROM [customer profit] GROUP BY [customer profit].[customer Number], [customer profit].[VAL_BAL], [customer profit].[Balance Date];
I posted this about a month ago, but at that time I was running myself ragged and through too many problems at once. I stepped back and made some good progess. I put this in the General forum because it could encompass VBA, queries, and reports
I have a main report (Percentage Report) that has 4 subreports in it. Each subreport is based on a query that's run from three other queries. Its a neatly tangled mess, but it works fine.
The queries all count and calculate percentages for a pass rate of inspections on maintenance. There's an over-all/basic percentage that simply totals everything and divides for a percentage. There's also a "maintenance" percentage that only takes into account inspections done on maintenance (as opposed to various programs and processes.) Those both work fine for any given time period.
The third (and final) percentage deducts 0.5 points for each of a specific list of inspections (safety and other violations.) This works fine so long as you're only looking at a month's worth of data. The problem comes when you want to view any time period larger than that (quarter, semi-annual, annual.)
Basically, you end up subtracting a sum from an average and you end up w/ totally inaccurate numbers. I just can't quite figure out how to effectively either group by month or how to average the deductions based on the months covered.
I just finished completing this whole thing, and I'm pretty much done for tonight. Any help would be great. ---------------------------------------- Key words: sum totals, report grouping, report conditional format, alternate row colors (greenbar), count, calculate, percent
My database has a crosstab query that counts the number of hits by month. I have two columns that are named "Count of Material"(Frequency) and "Sum of ordered Qty"(Total ordered). I need add a colum to find the Average Monthly Demand by dividing the Total ordered/Frequency/number of months in the query. I have tried everything to make it work but can't.
I have a report that counts the number of monthly calls. What I would like is an average of the monthly calls in the report footer.
My total for a particular month is =Count([Date]) and I named the unbound control MonthlyTotal.
This is in the DateFooter section of the report.
I then put an unbound control in the report footer and used the expression = Avg([MonthlyTotal]).
Of course when I changed from design view to report view, it asked me for an input of [MonthlyTotal].
I then tried =Avg([Reports]![qryLetterWritersbyDate]![MonthlyTotal]) and while it didn't ask me for an input, there was nothing in the ubound control in the report footer.
I have search for an answer, but all I find is using a query. Is what I am attempting to do possible? If so, how?
Hello there ! I had a few problems yesterday with Dcount in a text box in a form but with your help I cracked it Below is the function I used =DCount("[PFP Number]","MAIN Table Do not delete","[PFP Number] = '" & [PFP Number] & "'")
The form is based on a table called Invoice PFPs The Table contains a list of PFP Numbers (bit like part numbers) there are no duplicates in this table I also have a "Main Table do not delete" with 26000 claims in it each of which has a PFP Number. The form has a text box in that matchs the PFP Number in the form with the same PFP Number in the MAIN Table and counts them. his works fine with the above function
What I now need is it to count if the PFP Number matchs only if the date specifyed in the function matchs the claim process date (e.g 01-Dec-06 or 01-Jan-07 etc..) in the Main Table Hope this makes sense ?
I am trying to get the average of a select group of records within a query. It appears the davg function should give me what I need, however my query returns no results. Here is a sample of my data.
I have a field in an MS Acess query that has records like - 1,000; 534; 769.13; 0; 654; 0, etc. It can also have few null records.I want to calculate the average of all records which are greater than zero. Ignore zero values or null values.
I'm running into an issue where I'm trying to tie several queries together into a list one running total. I have six queries that pull data from the same table, but that meet specific criteria. What I was trying to accomplish was to have a 7th query count the records in each of the six queries, and return the results as a different value for each. Here's an example:
What I tried: Field: 1ATotal: Count([qry_1A].[valueName]) Total: Expression
And I did this for each field that I wanted the query to return, so: Field: 1BTotal: Count([qry_1B].[valueName]) Field: 2ATotal: Count([qry_2A].[valueName]) Field: 1BTotal: Count([qry_2B].[valueName]) Field: 3ATotal: Count([qry_3A].[valueName]) Field: 3BTotal: Count([qry_3B].[valueName])
The problem is that I don't get what I expected - the query appears to be totaling all the records counted and applying that value to all the fields, so I get this:
I have constructed a neat database for randomly quizzing myself on French translations. However I need a simple way of counting the records in an underlying query "vocabularyQ" inside a sub routine. I have tried all sorts of statements the most recent being
SELECT Count(VocabularyQ.ID) AS CountOfID FROM VocabularyQ
I am working on a Human Resources database for a big project that has a field called 'Position Number' (eg. 290) which is unique for each position. But the position can have up to 4 different stages over the life of the project which is shown in the primary key field 'Position ID' (eg. 290-A, 290-B, 290-C). There are columns for each month of the life of the project and If the Start Date and End Date of the position are in between these months then a number one will appear in the Month column.
For example, position 290 will start at level A (290-A) and will start on Jan-14 and finish on Aug14. The next stage of the project will start and position 290 will do the same role in a different area of the project (290-B) and will start on Nov-14 until May-15. Therefore the 48 columns with months as headings from Jan-14 to Dec-17 will show a number one in those months from Jan-14 to Aug-14 and Nov-14 to May-15.
There are over 150 position numbers with up to 4 different position ID's which is phased throughout the 4 years of the project. I need to do a count of how many "number ones" are in the monthly columns per Position.
I have been tasked to create a DB for my unit. I have created a few DB, but I am a novice at best. I need a crosstab Query to count the number of records for each FY. The Army's FY is from Oct -Sep. I only need to show the the total number of record for the previous FY in a Report and on a form.
I have created a query that is designed to return a count of how many records there are in various tables. There are 10 expressions in all, so when it is run I am expecting to see one row of data with each field populated with the number of records.
It does do this, but the data is repeated over line after line (see the attached picture)
I have a report due the first of each week in which I need the cases open and cases closed for the previous week, the week two weeks prior and the 2007 and 2006 year to date on two different types of cases. I have a case management table with a field for Type of Case, date assigned and date closed that I uses in my queries. Presently I have two query, one that generates only Type 1 cases from the Case Management Table and another for Type 2. I then use the Type 1 Query in another query that limits the results for Type 1 cases to those opened last week, one for those open two weeks ago, one for 2006 YTD and one for 2007 YTD. In these 4 queries I have one field [Type of Cases] and I have the query count. I then do this for Type 2 cases and then go through the whole process to do Closed Cases. All my queries have criteria to automatically filter the dates to the time periods mentioned above. I then have one report query that I put all the number in for my report. This query has 16 fields with the numbers for each period, last week open and closed, 2 weeks open and closed, etc. I then generated a report that takes these numbers from my report query and puts it in a report format automatically. As you can imagine this takes some time to go through each query to generate these numbers, so I was wondering how I may do this differently. Also, I have experienced a problem when a field produces no records I get a blank sceen with nothing under the Count of column and get the same thing for my report. How can I fix this.
I'm altering a database to have certain fields be recorded monthly. For example: instead of a client's file having "Total X Purchased" it would now be "Total X Purchased - Jan", "Total X Purchaed - Feb".
I want to spin the monthlies out of the master clients table & in to ex. tbl_clientsJan, tbl_clientsFeb, etc. but still have them linked; & have a "Totals" table that aggregates data from all of the tables (adds them up).
I have an existing form, & I was thinking of just creating tabs for the months & subforms in each with their sources as the month tables, & removing the fields that don't change month-to-month (e.g. client name), with relationships between them. I would start by copying all of the master table data in to the month tables & allowing edits from there.
the company doesn't track when the transactions occurred; I'm unable to group them along those lines.I'm new to Access & don't want to make a mistake.
=Avg(IIf([Final]="TST-TST OK RTN" Or [Final]="NFF-TST & NFF" Or [Final]="RTN-RETURN" Or [Final]="SCL-SCR LOCALLY" Or [Final]="SCR-SCR RETURN" Or [Final]="BER-BER RTN CST",Nz([Cost Of New],0),0))
I have a subform with a total of 18 records. 2 records meet the criteria above. This function is dividing by 18 (total number of records) instead of 2 to get the average. How can I get it to divide by the right number of records?
Hi. I have a table used for years. I added new fields bringing number to 160. When I go to insert another row, I get message saying 'Row inserted in the grid exceeds limit of 255 rows for table or 1,000 rows (actions) for a macro.'
BUT as the number of records had not increased and I am under the 255 limit why the error message?
I tried in vain to copy and compact/repair the database, but still no luck.
I have a field "Permit_Date_Expired" field automatically is created by adding one year to the "Permit_Date_Issued" field.
when the "Permit_Date_Expired" field exceeds TODAYS() date I want it to automatically change the field "Permit_Holder" to say Expired is this possible?
I have a query which is compiling monthly transaction of fee, the students paying through voucher. To every month the query is building records for students (Grouped), my problem is i have to show the arrears in the same query which would be on minus/plus of paid amount from actual fee both are in this query i can populate the arrears by simply subtracting both fields but the thing is that i am looking for a arrears which would be the adding total of previous arrears as to date transaction.
Me having a db which is having a student table which is keeping all student info, second i have a Van table which is keeping van info. I wanted to know how it is possible to calculate monthly van fee for each student on monthly basis which db do it itself based on system date/time and calculate monthly required fee for each student. I also would like to know that if a student do not pay in a month then checking the next month or checking unpaid student through date criteria it displays all due amount may be in sum.
I have a query result-set with several columns: A, B, C ,D. All Four of these columns display numbers. From this query, which I will call the "SetUp"query, I want to query it and obtain the average for each of the columns A, B , C ,D. However, some of the values in columns A, B , C ,D are zero. If I use the standard 'Avg' function in Access, it averages the column AND INCLUDES THE ZEROS IN THE AVERAGE. How can I get an average of just all the non-zero entries?
I am having trouble with this running total. Let's say I have a well. I am trying to create a running total that calculates the total Uptime (or hours operational) for each well every month.
I attached a PDF with an example of what I am working with.
I have a query, i need to get dsum of total task given to an employee.
I have grouped task_description and select count and it is now showing each employee as 1 which is correct.. i ma looking to get dsum based on this task count but with a criteria that i want to see these tasks sum month a have a month field which i get from assigned date the month field is showing like this december-2013.
Based on this i want to calculate dsum as first to see task count which i mentioned earlier, then employee id which is in query as ID and then month.. this sum will calculate monthly tasks given to each employee.
