Queries :: Unable To Make Crosstab Query To Filter Records From Table

Sep 17, 2013

I am trying to make a crosstab query to filter my records from my table.

Here is the scenario.

I want to make a query that will return me my Rep ID, Rep Name, his Bonus and his GV-Q (another value) based on every month.

Now I make a crosstab query and here is the syntax.

Code:
TRANSFORM First([TBL Qualification Data India].[Bonus Rank]) AS [FirstOfBonus Rank]
SELECT [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep #], [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep Name]
FROM [TBL Qualification Data India]
GROUP BY [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep #], [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep Name]
PIVOT [TBL Qualification Data India].Period;

This resulted in a column for Rep Number, one column for Rep Name and columns for all the period of Bonus I am going to have., so there are basically 9 columns for this till this month for each month and bonus value shows as values for all these month (period) columns.

Now in this same syntax, I want to have my Rep GV-Q value as well as his bonus to show in the same query, I read and came to know that it's not possible to directly have two values or two column headings in a crosstab query, I must have to make a new crosstab query and then use a normal select query to display records from these two crosstab queries, so I went ahead and made a new similar but with one value field changed crosstab query and here is the syntax for that.

Code:

TRANSFORM First([TBL Qualification Data India].[GV-Q]) AS [FirstOfGV-Q]
SELECT [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep #], [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep Name]
FROM [TBL Qualification Data India]
GROUP BY [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep #], [TBL Qualification Data India].[Rep Name]
PIVOT [TBL Qualification Data India].Period;

Now after this how to make a select query to show the data from these two queries.

I can make a normal query based on these two crosstab queries and manually add all fields and then I would have my result but then after every month I have to manually enter these two extra month details from both crosstab queries to my final query and that's not what I want.

Is there any method to do this by gathering data from these two queries into one and achieve the result I want or if there is any other approach to tackle this.

To explain my database and my need for output, I am attaching few pics to make things easier if I made some mistakes in explaining my problem. It's included in attached zip since I am not able to post images or links.

Queries :: Append Query For Temp Table

Mar 24, 2015

I am trying to create a table from a form. The form has several fields but I need to take the value from 4 separate combo boxes ([cr] +[br] +[tr] and add them, then add the value from one more combo box [inc] to be my beginning value in a table.

I then need to add the last value [inc] to the total and that become the next line in the table. I would the like to add this value [inc] an infinite number of times until it reaches a max number.

The scenario would be something like this
cr=3 br=2 tr=3 inc=1.5

So the first total would be 9.5. Then every row after that would be plus 1.5
11
12.5
14
15.5
17
and so on.

This would be a temp table that I would run a query on to let an operator know lengths they can choose from in a combo box. I don't know if this is even possible.

Queries :: Append Query Not Appending Entire Table

Feb 27, 2015

I have a local table that I am trying to append to a linked table. The fields are exactly the same. When I try to append the entire local table to the linked table I get an error code.

ODBC- insert on a link table failed.
[ctreeSQL]-17002 CT- Key value already exists in index (linked table field) (#-17002)

If I specify the criteria in the field to refer to a specific value in the local table, it updates it just fine. I want an append query because I don't want to manually update 500+ records!! I don't believe an update query would work because the values are not in the current linked table... so nothing to update!

Queries :: Append Query Needs To Add Data From A Field To The Table

Mar 13, 2014

I want to set a table field's default value to whatever is displayed in a certain field on a certain form at the time.In other words, say I have a database with a table called TABLE1, and two fields called NAME and SCHEDULENUMBER. I have a form called CreateSchedule with a SCHEDULE NUMBERCONTROL form and a NAME form, and I can enter names onto it, and it records to the proper SCHEDULENUMBER. So if I pull up SCHEDULENUMBER 4, and add three names, when I go back into TABLE1, I can see those three new names, and each one has the SCHEDULENUMBER set to 4.

What I'm trying to do is write an APPEND QUERY to copy a list of names from a different table, and paste them into TABLE1. The problem is that the other table doesn't have a SCHEDULENUMBER field. What I want to do is put a button on the CreateSchedule form that runs an APPEND QUERY, and sets the SCHEDULENUMBER to whatever value is displayed on CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field.

I tried setting a default value in TABLE1's field properties for that SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL field, but I keep getting error messages. I just want TABLE1, whenever I add a new record (regardless of how I add the record: manually typing it or clicking the append query button) to look at the form CreateSchedule, and set it's own SCHEDULENUMBER field to whatever is displayed in CreateSchedule's SCHEDULENUMBERCONTROL form.

Queries :: Run Append Query From Table A To Table B

Jul 30, 2014

how I could run an append query from table A to table B that only appends data that is not in table B.I want the primary keys of A to be exactly the same as B, because I will use B as a blank slate (another append query to append info to another table C with all the fields as 0 except for the primary key).

For example,

Table A - Supplier
Table B - Things that supplier does (blank)
Table C - Things that supplier does (information)

Lets say table A has 1,2,3,4 for supplier.Table B has 1, 2, 3, 4, as primary keys as well but all the other fields are zero.I insert PK "5" + data into table A through a data entry form, and then when I click on "save" in the data entry form, I want to macro an append/update qry (I don't know which one is supposed to be used in this instance) that will insert PK-5 into table B, so that I can append the blank slate info into table C.

Queries :: Append Query - Using Date Range From Separate Table?

May 1, 2013

I have an database that uses a couple of different date ranges, so I created a table that shows the different date ranges that may be required (xReport Dates) so I didn't have to keep manually editing queries or entering dates every time.

I have one query that appends data from one table into another based on a date range that you need to manually enter when prompted; I can't seem to get it to refer to my xReport Dates table for the range.

Its currently set up as below:

INSERT INTO 001_M_Gross_Telesales ( UpdateDate, OMSNumber, MediaRoute, ExecName, SaleType, Name,
[Reporting Campaign], [Reporting Team], [Sales Leader], [Reprting Name], [Media Route2] )
SELECT Max(L_ExecTracker.UpdateDate) AS MaxOfUpdateDate, L_ExecTracker.OMSNumber,
L_ExecTracker.Campaign, L_ExecTracker.ExecName, L_ExecTracker.SaleType, Z_Ref_Agent_Table1.Field23,

Full Outer Join Queries And Make Table / Append Query

Jan 20, 2014

I am fairly new to Acces 2010.I have two seperate tables hat I need to use to compare data. As you can see table A and table B have some of the same item numbers but they also have different item numbers that are not other table. Also some of the item numbers are duplicated in each table but that is okay because the cost of the item is different. Both tables contain item numbers for the products. I want all of Table A item numbers including the item numbers that are in table B. But I also want Table B item numbers except for the item numbers that are also in Table A. In the real raw data file some of the item number fields are blank but the other fields have values. How should I query these tables so that I achieve the correct results?

Table A
Item Num Costof Item Supplier Sales Tax Purchase Month
1234 $1.00 Walmart $2.00 Dec 2013
2222 $4.00 Walmart $1.00 Dec 2013
2222 $2.00 Walmart $1.00 Dec 2013
1276 $3.00 Sams club $1.50 Dec 2013
7898 $5.00 Texaco $5.00 Dec 2013

Queries :: Press A Button And Run A Macro / Append Query To Add A Single Summary Record To Another Table

Aug 2, 2013

I have a query run that gives me a list of records that I view on a continuos form. What I want is to press a button and run a macro/Append Query to add a Single Summary record to another table.

For example my query spits out this data

Part # Quantity Serial Number
GO2 1 123
GO2 2 456
GO2 2 789

What I'm looking to get is

Part Number Total Quantity Serial Number 1 Serial Number 2 ..
GO2 5 123 456

I'm stuck on a couple of things.

1. Getting a new single row to append.
2. Getting Serial Numbers from several records to save on to a single record.

Crosstab Queries, Column Headings And Lookup Table

Aug 22, 2006

Not sure if there is a quick answer but I am trying to complete a crosstab query that references a lookup table. I cannot remove the lookup tables because the database was designed by a consultant. The lookup table is referenced as the column heading. The query works fine until I change the column headings in the properties box - it returns the column headings but there are no values. Am I doing something simple wrong or is it having troubles because it is a lookup table for column headings.

Queries :: Setting Zero Value In Crosstab Query

Jun 19, 2014

I have a crosstab query to summarise the counted string values from another query: E.g.;

TRANSFORM Count(Table1.Viable) AS CountOfViable
SELECT QryTable01.productName
FROM QryTable01
GROUP BY QryTable01.productName
PIVOT Table1.Viable;

As there are some null values returned (ie blank cell in the pivot table)

I used the Nz function to make this zero but when the query results are used in a report I want to add the rows to get row totals... but the result is as if they were string values;

So if I add a text box in the report with = [viable] + [Not viable]
t
Then the report row with the values:

Viable Not viable
14 12
displays as 1412

So how do I add the values in the rows???

Queries :: Data On 1 Row Crosstab Query

Sep 17, 2014

Below is the SQL view of a Crosstab Query I am running. However I am lost at how to keep it from creating a serpate row for the same data on the column. For instance in the row data if I have an ATM batch come in for 1111 on 9/16 and then one come in for 1111 on 9/17 instead of keeping it on the same row it drops 9/17 down to the next row. Is there a way to keep the data on the same row?

Code:
PARAMETERS [forms]![frmReporting]![txtDatefrom] DateTime, [forms]![frmReporting]![txtDateTo] DateTime;
TRANSFORM Sum(Query1.CountOfATM) AS SumOfCountOfATM
SELECT Query1.ATM, Query1.Store, Query1.Type, Sum(Query1.CountOfATM) AS [Total Of CountOfATM]
FROM Query1
WHERE (((Query1.[Date Stamp])>=[forms]![frmReporting]![txtDateFrom] And (Query1.[Date Stamp])<=[forms]![frmReporting]![txtDateTo])) OR (((Query1.[Date Stamp]) Is Null))
GROUP BY Query1.ATM, Query1.Store, Query1.Type, Query1.[Date Stamp], Query1.[Date Stamp]

Queries :: Crosstab Query With No Aggregation

Apr 16, 2013

I have the table "tblProductionForecast" with the following fields:

ProductionForecastProductId
ProductionForecastMonth
ProductionForecastQuantity

I want to show this in a report, similar to an spreadsheet, with:

ProductionForecastProductId = Rows
ProductionForecastMonth = Columns
ProductionForecastQuantity = Data

I thought of using a crosstab query like this:

Code:
TRANSFORM avg(tblProductionForecast.[ProductionForecastQuantity]) AS AvgOfProductionForecastQuantity
SELECT tblProductionForecast.[ProductionForecastProductId]
FROM tblProductionForecast
GROUP BY tblProductionForecast.[ProductionForecastProductId]
PIVOT tblProductionForecast.[ProductionForecastMonth];

but I don't want the average of ProductionForecastQuantity. I want the actual value!

Is a crosstab query the wrong method to use?

If no, how do I show the actual value of ProductionForecastQuantity

If yes, how should I create the report?

Queries :: Sum Data Across Crosstab Query?

Nov 12, 2013

I have a crosstab query that I would like to sum data across. Each row is a seperate experimental product, and each column is a test phase that each product goes through. The data is the number of days each product was in each test phase. What I need is the sum total of days that all products were in all phases. Think of this table as a single item, and each row is a slightly different version of the item to test. So what I need is essentially how many days this item has been in testing across all variations.

Queries :: Append Data In Access Pivot Table To A Table (or Requery On It)

Jan 22, 2015

Is there a way to append a pivot table to a table or possibly make a query based on a pivot table? I need to get a count of Part Numbers and I need the average price for all these parts. Additionally I want to ignore a count of less than 3.

Also I am having trouble filtering on the count in the pivot table... haha, so I was gonna Query on it later on.

Queries :: Query Error When Data Changes In Crosstab Source Query

Aug 12, 2014

I have a database which among other things records how jobs are received i.e.: Telephone, Email, Mail, Facsimile or Web.For each client I want to identify the percentages of each method of receipt against the total of jobs received and during different time periods.I have created a make table query for all jobs received between variable dates for a client entry of the name of the client and the start and finish dates are required to run the query.

I have a crosstab query set up to count each method of receipt and a final query to work out the percentages using the total from the crosstab query fields divided by the total of all methods.I have a macro set up to replace the table with new data when I want the stats for a different client between new dates, therefore the different methods of receipt may vary for the less active clients i.e.: they may only have telephone and email .

My problem is if I choose a client where we have not received a job by a particular method (say web or facsimile), the last query working out the percentages has fixed names to cover each method but naturally produces an error when it cannot find a corresponding method of receipt. I have experimented with NZ() without success.My question is can I either have preset standard names of the column field in a crosstab query? Alternatively in the query calculating the percentages, can I include code to ignore a non-existent field in the crosstab query.

Queries :: Append A Field In Destination Table That Is Not In Source Table

Oct 9, 2014

I have a fairly simple append query that appends two columns of data to another table - all good. Except, the destination table has a field 'ServiceDate' that I would also like to be completed at the same time with today's date. I presume that this is =Date(), but where do I put it to make this happen?

Queries :: Sort Row Headings For Crosstab Query

Feb 26, 2015

I have a created a crosstab query which gives me the results I need, but I want to sort the row headings differently. These are not numbers, but machine sizes which range from 4 Metre to 20 Metre. Currently, the crosstab gives me:

10 Metre
12 Metre
14 Metre
17 Metre
20 Metre
3 Metre
4 Metre
5 Metre etc

But I need to show it as:

3 Metre
4 Metre
5 Metre
10 Metre
12 Metre
14 Metre
17 Metre etc.

The field is short text data type and data comes from an ODBC linked table to SQL server table, and I am using Access 2013.

Queries :: Crosstab Query With Fixed Row Headings

Queries :: Crosstab Query Using Dates For Next 12 Months

Jun 23, 2014

I want to create a cosstab query with dates for the next 12 months accross the top as columns and employee names down the side as rows. I then want to populate with data showing what each person is programed to do under the dates. For instance trainer 1 is delivering training from the 23/06-30/06 then designing a course from 02/07-10/07. that type of thing.

I could represent an activity using a colour i.e. yellow for delivery, green for design etc.

Also do I need to create a table with all the dates? Is there a quick way of doing this?

Queries :: CountIf Between Dates In Crosstab Query

Nov 4, 2013

I have generated a table using a crosstab query and it gives the information as below

12/10 12/11 12/12 13/01
Part 1 1 2
Part 2 4 4 4
Part 3 5

So basically part, qty used, year/month used - it works fine up to this point.

Now I want to either add more columns to the crosstab query to count number of times Part 1 was used in last 12 months & 24-13 months

Or

Create another query to do this.

But I want the count function to start counting from current month to last 12 months and from month 13 to month 24 (in another column).

The problem I am having is that this query will run every month and I don't want to update the column headers (in query property sheet) instead I want query to pick this up automatically.

I use the design view to generate queries.
