Queries :: DLookup To Return Value Of Field In Query Expression

I have a field created in a query expression
BirthMon: Format([DOB],"mmmm")
I would like to create another field in the query using DLookup to return the value of the BrithMon.
BrithMonthID=DLookUp("MonID","tblListMons","BirthM on = Mon")
This works good if used with an unbound text box on a form, but when entered into a query expressions, an error is returned: cannot find the name 'BirthMon'
Can I used DLookUp in a Query expression to refer to another Query created field?

I have a small table, that only contains one record (and should only ever contain one record, which simply gets edited to suit once in a while).The table is called OtherRates, and the fields are as follows:
WRD_Sat/Sun/BH
WRD_Mon-Fri
AHDifferentia
SKDifferentia
Sat/Sun/BH_OTRate
Mon-Fri_OTRate
I am trying to use DLookup to return a value from the relevant field in this table, however the field to look in is a variable.The code (below) that I have tried returns an error and highlights the DLookup line,.

I'm looking for a bit of code for a module that will return the field name from an expression (that uses an array) instead of returning the value in that field.
Example:
(Minimum is a working module that finds the smallest number in the array)
Field1 = 34
Field2 = 53
Field3 = 21
Field4 = 62
GetFieldName(Minimum([Field1],[Field2],[Field3],[Field4])) = "Field3"
I've searched but can't find a way to select the field name anywhere...

I have an expression in my query and i'd like to return a value of 0 is the expression yields a null value. Here is the expression i have:
IsNull(Sum(([qryTime].[hours]*[Rate])+([qryTime].[minutes]*[Rate]/60)+([qryTime].[seconds]*[qryTime].[Rate]/3600),0)
I'm getting an error "the expression you entered has a function containing the wrong number of arguments". How can i resolve this?

How to write an expression/criteria in a query that will return only ID numbers with alpha numeric values. Example: My Id field contains both numeric 479621, 680530 and alpha numeric 132NAV100, 174NAV26a values. I want to run the query to return only the alpha numeric values.
I do not know SQL nor VBA.

I have a search from that has an option group, text fields, and a checkbox where the users selects a variety of option that generates a query. If the query return at least on record a split form (form on top/datasheet on bottom) is displayed and the form has an Edit and Close button. If the query returns no records the form is still displayed except the buttons are not visible.
If I knew the result of the query and then made a decision whether to open the form or release control back to the search box that would be great. To open the form I am using VBA with the DoCmd.OpenForm(,,"MyQuery","criteria") command.I thought about using the DLookup command and evaluate the return value for null to be used to control the program flow.

Hi,
I have a DLookup expression that is working in a Control on a form :
=DLookUp("[Class] ","Class","([Forms]![Orders_Crosstab]![Indcat] = [Clind]) AND ([Forms]![Orders_Crosstab]![2005] Between [From] AND [To])")
I simplified it for test purposes as an expression in a query:
Expr1: DLookUp("[Class] ","Class","([Indcat] = [Clind])")
This gave an error - MS Access cant find the name [Indcat] in the expression.
After some R&D on the web I found a solution that works:
Expr1: DLookUp("[Class] ","Class","([Clind]=" & [Indcat])
[Indcat] and [2005] are part of the recordset where [Clind], [From] and [To] are values in the Table 'Class'
MY CHALLENGE:
I cannot find the correct way to add the extra selection criteria to the query expression (as per the form expression above) that checks the value [2005] is between the [From] and [To] values in the table. Have tried a number of combinations without success.
Any help, suggestions and/or guidance very welcome.

I'm designing a query. It's very simple.
I just need to compute something like:
Var: TT[YYZ for this month]-TT[YYZ for last month]
The table is called C1 and has the fields i'm interested
YYZ: Location
TT: number
mxx: date
So, i have for YYZ a list of places and for TT a list of values. MXX has the date of the record on the table.
There is one record per date, which it means, there only one record for 1/1/1991 for the YYZ=2.
NF should calculate the difference between the the record on t against t-1.
I've tried with this
Var: YYZ-DLookUp("yyz","[C1]"," "[YYZ]=[YYZ]" AND "[mxx]=DateAdd("m", "-1", "[mxx]"))
But it fails.
I upload a xls sheet with the desired field, Var ,calculated.

I've never used DLookup before and I can't get it to work for me so far.
I have 1 table which contains products and different properties of each product, such as the weight of the product.
I have created a query which sums the weight of all products, but only for those that have a value >0 in a certain field. This all works fine.
Now I simply want to display that calculated total weight in a text box on a form. So I thought DLookup could be used for that. But I can't get it to work, maybe because I'm not putting in any criteria? In the control source of the text box
I've put the following:
=dlookup("[TotalWeight]","qryTotals")
I don't have any criteria, I just want the value from my qry expression. The textbox on my form now displays #name?

I've can do this on excel but don't know how in Access. I'm calculating bonuses. My table has salaries, and my query simply multiples each salary amount by a % to get the bonus amount. But I need to calculate adjustments to the bonuses using the sum total of the bonuses my query calculated:
Salary (from table) Bonus (calc'd by query) Adjustment (to be calced)
100,000 1,000 Sum of total bonuses/salary*4%
90,000 900
How do I capture the total of my calculated bonus column to use to calculate the adjustments in my right-most column?

I have a single table with customer information, one of the fields is a date field "LastContacted".
I'm creating a search form with 2 date fields (txtDate1 & txtDate2) to search a date range of the LastContacted field, and I need to write this into the query that the search form uses.
I have written this using Nz so that it can still return results if the search boxes are left blank:
Between Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate1],#01/01/1989#) And Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate2],#01/01/2999#)
This seems to work and it returns lines from the table where there is a date entered. However some of the fields in the table have no entry in the LastContacted field. How to code this query so that it also returns lines where the LastContacted field is blank in the table?
I have tried:
like "*" & (Between Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate1],#01/01/1989#) And Nz([Forms]![frm_AdvancedSearch]![txtDate2],#01/01/2999#)) & "*"
but this returns errors when I try to run it.
I'm using Access 2010.

When running a query, I want to hide duplicates records for a given field. PO# will have many duplicates, depending on how many part numbers were order on the same PO#. Other unique fields are not displayed. Can an expression help with this? If not, how do I go about hiding them in a query?
Current Query results:

I am trying to create a multi-user web-based database where all users log-in and see different forms based on a field in the user table.

I'm trying to use a DLookup to get a specific value from a field in a table.
This is what my code currently looks like;

JOBID = DLookup("[ID]", "MASTER PLANNER", "[JOB NUMBER] = '" & JOB_NUMBER & "'")
Basically I want to get the ID (a number) from a specific record where the JOB NUMBER equals the string I have typed in to a field on the form, also called JOB NUMBER.
However, my problem is that it doesn't navigate to the record where the criteria matches, it just chooses the ID from the very first record of the table.
what I'm doing wrong?

I'm trying to obtain all of the information in a text field for a query.
The user entered information and used a return (enter key) to enter information on a new line within the same field. The information after the return is not captured in the field in the query. Is there anyway I can capture all of this info?

I am trying to use a DLookup to search to find what block goes into the production of an item.
In a table called "dbo_vw_MCE_job_with_materials", each item contains a list of the parts which go into its production in a column titled "Expr1". However there are always more than one parts to this, with varying names.
What I am trying to do is to use a Dlookup to only return the first value which starts with B (as the block number is always the only part on the list which begins with B).
At the moment my DLookup would look ike this:

However I think as the item column contains the same item number in 8 columns, with different values in the Expr1 column, Dlookup only returns the top value "A-CF0057" (which is irrelevant as far as I am concered) - whereas I am hoping it will be able to pull the "B1499" value from the column as it is the only one starting with a B
Is there anyway to specify which value the dlookup function would return, or is there any way to apply some sort of permanent filter on my table?

I have been trying to find a solution to why I can't get a Dlookup with multiple criteria to return the value I need.
Essentially I am trying to use an Order Number to find the item number which is contained within another table. However the order number has multiple lines (suffixes) which alter the item number. Therefore I am trying to have the item number be populated by the correct 'combination' of Order Number and line ("suffix").
I have managed to use the Dlookup in the after update of each box of the form separately and they retrieve values in the table correctly:
Afterupdate of main order number:

I think the reason is something to do with some being numbers and some being a combination of text and numbers (based on the replies of other topics), but have been trying to modify these slightly and can't get it to work still.
Also the Order Number is a combination of letters and numbers (normally in the form of AB12345678), the suffix is just a number between 0-9 and the Item number it finds is a combination of numbers and letters.

"Undefined function 'Nz' in expression"

I have two forms...frm1 has a text box with an expression in it and I need frm2 to display the result of the expression. I'm using the DLookup expression and it either gives me #Name? or #Error? message in the text box frm2.

I am trying to create a form with multiple combo boxes where users can select fields from my main database and click a button to generate a report based on their selections. I think I am supposed to create a generic report with perhaps 4 fields where I would link the four combo boxes to. The issue is I cant seem to get the selection of the combo box to change the field that the report should pull from the database. I think I am supposed to use dlookup in the reports control source for each field, but I cant seem to get it to work.

I am trying to create a query that returns records whether a field has data or not...
There are three fields in question, SSN, DOB (this is a date field), POB (this is a foreign key representing a state in the query shows the actual state). Now unless the criterion is different then I just need the answer for one I can reproduce.
I would like to do this in the criteria box in the query.
The query pulls from one table, some of the employees in this table have the three fields populated some don't. I would like the query to return all employees...

I am trying to create a query pulling from several tables. I will use the example below to illustrate what I'd like to do.
I have a field called 'Acc_Num', one called 'Stat_Code', and a third called 'Cat_Code'.
Each 'Acc_Num' can have multiple records because there are multiple Stat_Code and Cat_Code values.
What I want to do is isolate just the Acc_Num records where Stat_Code = 1 and Cat_Code equals A1.
I also want to isolate the Acc_num records where the Stat_code = 1 and where Cat_code does not exist.
