I am trying to create a query that has a self referencing running total based on the values (point totals) of itself (running total of values in the running total column that have already been calculated for all previous records) plus the total of new points being added in the current record, less the total of points being removed in the current record. This running total can never go below 0, if it does, the running total should restart at zero and add in only new points and begin the process again with the next records
I am able to do this in Excel in less than two seconds so I know there has to be a way to port this into a query. I've attached an excel example of what I am exactly trying to do
If it takes multiple queries to complete the required output I am ok with it. In my previous outtakes I have had up to 8 queries but just couldn't seem to do it..
Income | Outcome | Transport | Total Income | Date Total Income (N) = Income (N) + Transport (N-1) Total income equals income from that day + transport from previous day
Transport (N) = Total Income (N) - Outcome (N) Transport from previous day equals Total Income minus outcome
How can I calculate the transport from previous day to sum to next day total income?
Below is a sample from the query. I guess Im just not sure where to start since there are multiple months the same value, but i need them to total up..
Code: SELECT DISTINCTROW tblBlotter.ID, Format$([tblBlotter].[EntryDate],'mmmm yyyy') AS [Month], Sum(IIf([CKPoliceResponse],1,0)) AS PoliceResponseTrue, Sum(IIf([CKTerminalCheck],1,0)) AS TerminalCheckTrue, Sum(IIf([CKRampCheck],1,0)) AS RampCheckTrue, Sum(IIf([CKAOACheck],1,0)) AS AOACheckTrue, ([TerminalCheckTrue]+[RampCheckTrue]+[AOACheckTrue]) AS TotalTerminalRampAOA, ([PoliceResponseTrue]+[TerminalCheckTrue]+[RampCheckTrue]+[AOACheckTrue]) AS TotalChecks FROM tblBlotter GROUP BY tblBlotter.ID, Format$([tblBlotter].[EntryDate],'mmmm yyyy'), Year([tblBlotter].[EntryDate])*12+DatePart('m',[tblBlotter].[EntryDate])-1, Year([tblBlotter].[EntryTime])*12+DatePart('m',[tblBlotter].[EntryTime])-1;
Is there a way to take today's date and calculate the last day of the last month? Without the user needing to enter any parameters. In other words, if I ran the query today with this criteria, it would only show information for April 30, 2013. Is that possible?
I am having trouble with this running total. Let's say I have a well. I am trying to create a running total that calculates the total Uptime (or hours operational) for each well every month.
I attached a PDF with an example of what I am working with.
I have a list of products that have a loan payment associated to them. To cover these loans, we have incoming revenue for each product at different dates.
The incoming revenue is a field of running sum of revenue for each product.
Desired output:
I want to how how much % of loan (jn total; for all products) is paid in October, november and december and as such (as cumulative). i.e. total of 40% in Oct, 70% in Nov and 100% by Dec etc.
I want to build a query that calculates the fiscal year and the month from a date on-the-fly. I tried to do it in VBA, but it's more complicated than in query I guess. So this is my table:
The date is on the left, in the middle I want to have calculated Jan 14 and on the right I want 14/15.
In VBA I started with this: strMonth = MonthName(Month(A), True) & " " & Format(A, "YY") which gave me "Jan 08". But the date was hard-coded and not from my table. Then I tried to store the information by SQL statement into a string. But this also didn't work, the types were different.
Code: UPDATE tblSAPOD SET sapOD_month = Year([sapOD_OrderDate])-IIf([sapOD_OrderDate]< DateSerial(Year([sapOD_OrderDate]),6,16),1,0) WHERE sapOD_OrderDate Like "*/*/94";
.. but I guess it's wrong, it gives me a syntax error.
Basically I have a report that shows any 'Issues' that wasnt closed within the KPI Target.
I have the report working, but I simply want to do a count of how many days the observations overran the 'Target Date of Closure'.
The report also shows observations that are not closed but passed their Target Date of Closure. These observations will not have a 'Actual Closure Date', but I would like to still have a count of how many days its overrun closure.
This is a formula I tried to piece together but obviously not correct as it's not returning anything;
IIf(IsNull([Issues]![Actual Closure Date]),DateDiff("d",[Issues]![Target Date of Closure], Date()),DateDiff("d",[Issues]![Target Date of Closure],[Issues]![Actual Closure Date]))
I have to create a query in access that will calculate two Date and time fields [Date & Time Left]/ [Date Returned], need to figure out between the two fields. Trying to identify when the rep returned the call and the number of business hours (6:00am - 4:30pm) it takes to return a message in Ms Access 2010.
The only issue is the calculation has to be done by time and so I have to calculate what time they left the message(so the difference between [Date & Time Left] and [Date Returned) [Date & Time Left] and when the rep returned the message which is suppose to be [Date Returned] but the problem with this field is the data entry is in date format (10/9/2014, 00/00/0000) of Date and not Date and Time like the [Date & Time Left] field, so I don't know what to do now. Not sure what to do now not a database that create or have allot of control over.
I am creating a line graph from a running total query to show our income from items shipped for each month. Currently I have the following Code in my query which works but it displays the month as a number in my graph and I would like it to show the Month name.
Code: SELECT DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]) AS AYear, DatePart("m",[ShippedDate]) AS AMonth, DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) AS ADay, Format(DSum("SalesPrice","tblJobs","DatePart('d', [ShippedDate])<=" & [ADay] & " AND DatePart('m', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AMonth] & " AND DatePart('yyyy', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AYear] & ""),"Currency") AS RunTot FROM tblJobs WHERE (((tblJobs.ShippedDate) Is Not Null)) GROUP BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("m",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) ORDER BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("m",[ShippedDate]), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]);
I tried this solution, but I get an error in the RunTot field, I'm assuming because Access can't use the month name in dsum.
Code: SELECT DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]) AS AYear, MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])) AS AMonth, DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) AS ADay, Format(DSum("SalesPrice","tblJobs","DatePart('d', [ShippedDate])<=" & [ADay] & " AND MonthName(DatePart('m', [ShippedDate]))<=" & [AMonth] & " AND DatePart('yyyy', [ShippedDate])<=" & [AYear] & ""),"Currency") AS RunTot FROM tblJobs WHERE (((tblJobs.ShippedDate) Is Not Null)) GROUP BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]) ORDER BY DatePart("yyyy",[ShippedDate]), MonthName(DatePart("m",[ShippedDate])), DatePart("d",[ShippedDate]);
I am trying to count how many of the "same" and "differences", as well as calculate the percentages of the number of "same" over the total amount. To clarify, I work at a nursing home, and I need to calculate the number of people who were admitted to our facility and then to the hospital for the same diagnosis, and a different diagnosis. Then, out of the total number of people who were admitted to the hospital from our facility, I need to calculate how many of those people had the same diagnosis or a different diagnosis.
Also, I need to categorize these diagnosis by each type of diagnosis.
I have written a user defined function that calculates the end of the current month. This I named EndOfThisMonth. It works well as a function. Now I would like to use it as date criteria to include in a query. The function is included as such EndOfThisMonth().
The field on which this function is to enter as a criteria is another calculated date function called Due.
When I run this query I get an error message saying Undefined Function 'EndOfThisMonth' in expression.
Any method by which one can calculate the Percentile Ranks for the IV Implied Volatility in a Stock Market Database ?
IV Percentile rank simply tells us whether implied volatility is high or low in a specific underlying based on the past year of IV data. For example, if XYZ has had an IV between 30 and 60 over the past year and IV is currently at 45, XYZ would have an IV rank of 50%.
My table has got the IV Value for each symbol for the past one year and I need to calculate the IV Percentile Rank for each symbol based on this past one year data.
Hi, i'm trying to calculate the amount of employee for each company giving me a total in the queries.. how do i go about this? I'm not an person who uses Access to solve this. I have amount 20 Companies stored and over 800's employee.. Here are the field in the table:EmployeeIDEmployeeNameNumberofEmployeeThanks! Hope this helps.
Hi All. I try to generate a report which calculate subtotal for patient AMOUNT for current year and total for whole period from first visit to current date. The result of subtotal =Sum(IIf(Year(Date()=[VisitYr]),[Amount])) is the same like total. What is a correct way? Thanks.
Say I have a table with ID's of people and a column with the hours they need to work on a specific day. I want to make a query where I get the total working hours for every person in that table for a certain date. The problem is that when a specific person in the table has no hours for a certain day he doesn't show up in the query if I choose that day.., is there a way to make sure that I get everybody's names for every day even if they don't have any hours on that day, but instead of not showing it would show a "0" instead?
I have an birthday report for the current month (august) and would like to make a button on the report that can calculate next month (september) and shows birthdays for that month. how to calculate next month?
Access Query. I am creating a time sheet / pay roll database and I want to be able to get a total of the daily hours in a query.
For example I have 'Mon Start' and 'Mon Finish' for Mondays in/out times and I have a 'Mon Total' which gives me the total hours worked for Monday.
The problem I have is that Mon Total only works if the hours are say between 07:00 and 17:00, anything after midnight (00:00) like 21:00 to 07:00 and 'Mon Total' goes crazy !!
At the moment 'Mon Total' is the result of CDate 'Mon Finish' - 'Mon Start' (bit rough I know).
