Queries :: Dates Not Changing - Incomplete Query Clause

Jan 17, 2014

I have a date field NxtAPayDate that I need to update to the same day in the next calendar quarter. I have an update query set up using DATEADD but it does not change the dates. The table name is AutoPay

I am using the Query Design Grid. This is the SQL code behind the query:

UPDATE AutoPay SET AutoPay.NxtAPayDate = DateAdd("q",1,[AutoPay]![NxtAPayDate]);

When I view the results the dates are the same - original dates, when I try to sort the results, I get a message box with the following: syntax error, incomplete query clause?

I cannot get the dates to change by using a specific date either

UPDATE AutoPay SET AutoPay.NxtAPayDate = #1/2/2014#;

Syntax Error In Query. Incomplete Query Clause

Sep 28, 2005

I am really stuck. I have spent two days searcinh different forums trying to solve my problem. I am trying to create an UPDATE q to my Access database. But I get either the: "Syntax error in query. Incomplete query clause" or "Syntax error in UPDATE query".

First of all here's the URL: www.innotec-as.no/login/Kunder
Login U/P either: "alfen" or "thomas".

The page opening up shows the user info, U/P and adress.
viewing the information is working perfectly - but editing it..no way.

When editing and submiting the data the above errors occour.
Try that and you'll also see the SQL I am trying to execute.
The CODE is as follows:

SQLtemp = "UPDATE 'Brukere' SET"
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'navn' = '" & request("Navn") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'epst' = '" & request("Epst") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'Pass' = '" & request("Pass") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'Firma' = '" & request("Firma") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'BAdresse' = '" & request("BAdresse") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'BPostAdr' = '" & request("BPostAdr") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'PAdresse' = '" & request("PAdresse") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & " 'PPostAdr' = '" & request("PPostAdr") & "', "
SQLtemp = SQLtemp & "WHERE 'Bnavn' = '" & request("Bnavn") & "'"

Response.Write(SQLtemp)
Response.End()

conn.Execute(SQLtemp)
rs.Update[/COLOR]

The finished SQL statement looks like this:

UPDATE 'Brukere' SET 'navn' = 'Alf Byman', 'epst' = 'alf@baccara.no', 'Pass' = 'alfen', 'Firma' = '', 'BAdresse' = '', 'BPostAdr' = '', 'PAdresse' = 'sdfg', 'PPostAdr' = '', WHERE 'Bnavn' = 'alfen'

I have tried to user single quotes, doubble quotes, brackets etc. nothing works.

The code I use for connection is as follows:

<!--#include file="../adovbs.inc"-->
<%
dim conn, rs, SQLtemp

' DSNless connection to Access Database
set conn = server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Connection")
rs="DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; "
rs=rs & "PWD=uralfjellet; DBQ=" & server.mappath("../../../../db/kunder.mdb")

conn.Open rs

I'll be very HAPPY for some expert help on this.

Queries :: Changing Query In VBA Not Working With Calculated Dates?

Sep 9, 2013

I am trying to run a change an existing query in real time to allow date filtering for 4 different categories. I can get two of them to work. Calibration Date and Icepoint Date. But for The two calculated fields Calibration due date and Icepoint date I cannot get it to filter properly e.g. for 2013 dates it also includes 2014 dates and just does not work properly. I am thinking its due to it being a calculated field but don't have a clue how to fix it. see pasted code for calibration due date filter where Todate and Fromdate are the 2 dates used. I also have the on current code and the exit code to reset the query to its original status.

Public Sub SetDate1()
'Apply date filter and rebuild query in real time
On Error GoTo Err_SetDate1
If IsNull(Me!ToDate) And IsNull(Me!FromDate) Then
MsgBox ("Please Enter Date First"), vbExclamation
GoTo Exit_SetDate1

Queries :: Incomplete Capture In Query

Jul 11, 2013

I have a query which exports to a excel file afterwards, however, it's not capturing all the data I need.My query is at the bottom, and I think the problem is the "(([tbl Master].ID)=[tblRequest].[Cost Centre]))" statement, as this means that it'll never pick up a Cost Centre starting with "Z", as they don't exist in [tbl Master] (they're exceptions to the rule basically).

What I need to do is only parse the statement "(([tbl Master].ID)=[tblRequest].[Cost Centre]))" if the Cost Centre doesn't start with "Z", if it does, then it'll find it in the table, as there's validation on the point of entry that don't start with it.

Code:

SELECT tblRequest.RequestID, 'N/A' AS [Week No], tblRequest.[Refund Date] AS [Date],
tblRequest.Requester, tblRequest.Authoriser, tblRequest.Refunder AS Processor,
tblRequest.[CRIS Reference] AS [CRIS Ref No], tblRequest.[Customer Title] & ' ' & [Customer Name] AS [Customer's Name],

Modules & VBA :: Between Dates In Where Clause - Query Using Parameters

May 30, 2014

I have this code below which pulls a report based on the current date, I wanted to be able to pull the same report by entering between 2 dates as is done in a query using parameters.

Code:
reworkWhere = "ReworkTech = '" & Me.txt_tech_by_date_techid & "' And ReworkTimeOut = Date()"
repairWhere = "RepairTech = '" & Me.txt_tech_by_date_techid & "' And RepairTimeOut = Date()"
qcWhere = "QC_Tech = '" & Me.txt_tech_by_date_techid & "' And QC_TimeOut = Date()"
strWhere = reworkWhere & " Or " & repairWhere & " Or " & qcWhere
DoCmd.OpenReport "RPT_RF_TECH_REPORT_UNIT_DAILY", acViewReport, , strWhere

How to make a combo box with the months listed so they can pull this report by the month selected but is a side tangent.

Queries :: Changing Dates In A Group Of Queries

Jul 21, 2013

I have written a large number of queries to gather data for a quarterly monitoring form. How do I replace the dates to update them for next quarter.For example I have written a query which counts the number of new members who started in the period 01/04/2013 to 31/07/2013. How can I change this (and the other 200 queries) without opening them all individually and manually altering it. Is there an Access equivalent of Word's Find and Replace?By the way I am using Access 2000.

Queries :: How To Join The Table With Query Based On Like Clause

Nov 18, 2014

how I can achieve this in Access

I have a table created in Access- "Master"

FileName Sortorder
ABC_..........4
CDE_..........2
EFG.ss1.......1
GHI.srs........3

I have a Query created in Access whose output is

FileName RowCount Exception RunDate
ABC_20141117.....10...........5........11/17/2014
CDE_11172014......23.........10.......11/17/2014
EFG.ss1................55..........0........11/17/2014
GHI.srs.................15..........5........11/17/2014

Now I require to join these both, the table and the output of the query on the condition where query.fileName like table.fileName.

There is no key in this field. Why I need this because the table has the sort order which the user can change when needed, if I put the sort order in the query then each time there is a change then the query needs to updated which the user can go wrong. Also the filename in the query has date associated which changes every day so I need to pick the unique part of the file name and associate it with the query to get the output from query and sort order from the table.

Required Output:
FileName RowCount Exception RunDate SortOrder
EFG.ss1...............55............0.......11/17/2014...........1
CDE_11172014.....23...........10......11/17/2014......... 2
GHI.srs................15............5.......11/17/2014..........3
ABC_20141117.......10...........5......11/17/2014..........4

So there is a drop down menu, that allows the user to select the method, this will be expanded in the future but for now till I get this working I am not going to bother with that. That being said, I figure once I get a couple of these the work the others should follow suit. Anyway, here is what I have so far.

I have a query, and in order for it to run properly, I've set it to look in an unbound combobox on a form to display the necessary data I want, as long as I never close down the form, this is exactly how I want it.However, if I close this form down, and reopen it, I'm asked by messagebox to get the lookup from a different form's combobox, despite saving the correct form's design over and over again, and saving the actual query, more than once, while in design view.when Access changes the criteria, there isn't even a combobox value on the form it changes to.

Queries :: Changing Text To Hyperlink In Query

May 7, 2014

I was trying to see if there is a way to convert text to a hyperlink in a query.

Background : I'm pulling information from a lotus notes database using an OBDC connection and storing it into an access database and using that to upload to a sharepoint site. While we are converting over to a sharepoint site, I was trying to make it easy to get back to the original site for each document to check the work.

One of my columns in the query looks like this:

Code:
Notes Link: "notes://pncpgha66/852570CE0056FEF3/0BFCC83A5C11D7C3852576CD0072ED3E/" & [NoteUNID]

I don't see a way to convert that whole part to a hyperlink though. Like I could with a date and text. Cdate().

Queries :: Update Query Not Changing All Records?

Apr 24, 2013

i have an update query that looks for a product number, updates the cost, and re-calculates the price in two columns based on the salesman's margins. the problem i am having is that it seems to be hit and miss on the first run. if you run it again, it runs the calculations on all the fields. (it has to check / recalculate 16,000 rows.) should this query have vba to make it loop thru the table.

here is the basic layout of the query:

table 1 is newproductq
table 2 is Products
Field: PriceIn
Table: newproductq
Update To: [Products].[Cost]
UNITS
newproductq
[PriceIn]/((100-[Margin])/100)
PIECES
newproductq
[PriceIn]/((100-[BrokenMargin]/100)

if both cbo are blank then it works OR if both cbo have a selected value then it works, ok. But it doesn't if one of the cbo has a value and the other one hasn't.

One Selection Clause For Many Queries?

Dec 21, 2011

I have several queries (crosstabs) which are eventually combined together to form the data for a single report. If I want to date select for this report I need to add a WHERE clause to every query via VBA. This isn't difficult but it set me wondering if there was any way to have one dummy query containing the necessary WHERE statement, and this somehow gets appended to all the other queries, i.e. to filter on date I only need a change in one place.

GetWhere will then return a string like 'a > 3 AND b < 3'

I have tested this scenario and it is not working, so maybe there is some work around?

Queries :: Syntax Needed For Where Clause

Jun 4, 2013

I have a combo box on a form where I allow the user to pick an office. The primary key is the bound column which I then want to use in a stored query to limit the query results to the specific office selected. I can easily do this with the docmd.runSQL in the module, but I'd like to use a stored query instead. My exact problem is I can't get the syntax correct in the Where clause in the query design. I use the build feature and get the following: [Forms]![frmReports]![cboOffice] which doesn't work. If I manually put the key value in the Where clause, it works fine. tell me the correct syntax for the Where clause.

Queries :: Automatic Dates In Query

Jun 12, 2015

I have a table with tasks in which are allocated to specific staff members. The start date of the task is currently inputted by the user and then an estimated time frame is inputted which automatically enters the planned end date.

When a task is complete a Yes/No box is ticked so that these tasks don't show up on the current list anymore.

I wondered if it is possible, for the second task allocated to a certain person to have the start date automatically inputted depending on the planned end date of the precious task.

So if the planned end date was 12/06/2015 then the start date of the next would be 12/06/2015 and so on.

customer1 subscribed from 2-feb 2012 to 2-feb 2013
customer2 subscribed from 5-aug-2012 to 5-aug-2013
customer3 subscribed from 1-Jan-2013 to 31-Dec-2013

Queries :: Query For Same Fields / Different Dates

Jul 3, 2013

I have a query that is based on three queries. 2 of those queries have the same fields but return data for different dates. The 3rd query returns the dates needed. In other words, I am trying to return all results from both queries. these are the results I want:

Report_ID Report_Date Contents Approvers
Standard ops 5/1/13 daily operations rpt tom tomlin
royer manuf 7/1/13 syndication rpt rob davis

etc.

These are for year-t0-date. there is a YTD query that returns all dates needed. The other two queries return records on different dates, on is for dates <5/5/13 and the other is for dates >5/4/13. I have listed the SQL below. It returns the correct records, but for the Record_ID it returns -1 in each field instead of the report_ID text. So, I need to get the other fields to show up correctly.

Code:
SELECT [Daily_rpts_YTD_due_before_5_5_2013]![Report_ID] Or [Daily_rpts_YTD_due_after_5_4_2013]![Report_ID] AS [Report ID], due_dates_Daily_YTD.Due_dates
FROM (due_dates_Daily_YTD LEFT JOIN Daily_rpts_YTD_due_before_5_5_2013 ON due_dates_Daily_YTD.Due_dates = Daily_rpts_YTD_due_before_5_5_2013.Due_dates) LEFT JOIN Daily_rpts_YTD_due_after_5_4_2013 ON due_dates_Daily_YTD.Due_dates = Daily_rpts_YTD_due_after_5_4_2013.Due_dates
WHERE (((due_dates_Daily_YTD.Due_dates)=[Daily_rpts_YTD_due_after_5_4_2013]![Due_dates] Or (due_dates_Daily_YTD.Due_dates)=[Daily_rpts_YTD_due_before_5_5_2013]![Due_dates]));
