Queries :: Export Query And Remove Text Qualifiers From Headings
Jun 29, 2015
I have a link to a "csv" file. I then run a query to exclude some rows.
Then I need to export the query result as a text file with quotes (as text qualifier) and semicolon (as delimiter). This is not a problem. The problem is, that I only need the text qualifer for the data in row 2+ and not the headings.
The data export should look like this:
ID;Contract;Date
"1";"4700001360";"20150618"
How can I specify this export layout in the export wizard?
I have a created a crosstab query which gives me the results I need, but I want to sort the row headings differently. These are not numbers, but machine sizes which range from 4 Metre to 20 Metre. Currently, the crosstab gives me:
10 Metre 12 Metre 14 Metre 17 Metre 20 Metre 3 Metre 4 Metre 5 Metre etc
But I need to show it as:
3 Metre 4 Metre 5 Metre 10 Metre 12 Metre 14 Metre 17 Metre etc.
The field is short text data type and data comes from an ODBC linked table to SQL server table, and I am using Access 2013.
I've setup some crosstab queries with good success and set column headings that appear with blank spaces when there's no data as expected, but I have 1 report that is formatted with set row headings (its a specifically formatted report that i need to produce, that i can't just change). So I need to basically do the same but with the row headings set (I have got the crosstab working, just not showing the rows with no data as yet).
I have inherited an Access 2003 database and have been asked to improve the functionality of said database. Specifically, I have been asked to create some charts for improved reporting. I used the wizard to create a crosstab query to support the chart(s):
Code:
PARAMETERS [Forms]![Switchboard]![ActualDate] DateTime; TRANSFORM Sum(qryPMCompletion.CountOfWOs) AS SumOfCountOfWOs SELECT qryPMCompletion.PA_Priority FROM qryPMCompletion GROUP BY qryPMCompletion.PA_Priority PIVOT qryPMCompletion.wo_Completed WITH OWNERACCESS OPTION;
Now what has happened is that the wo_Completed is a Yes/No field so my column headings and therefore my legend comes up as "-1" and "0" instead of "Closed" and "Open".
Is there anyway to change the name of the column headings or shall I just create my own legend?
Is there anyway to change the justification of text in a table heading on in the contents? I've searched high and low for an answer but can't find it. Also, can a table heading have different text & colour than the table contents? Thanks.
I have 30+ queries (or table columns) I wish to export to txtfile files that I need to be able to replace each time the table and / or queries are updated.
This is the code I've used but when I run the macro the error message is that the FreeFile is not a valid outside procedure. The code debugs without issues up to but not including the macro.
Option Compare Database Dim fFile As Long Dim strFile As String Dim strString As String Dim Rs As Recordset Dim RsSql As String
I currently have a query pulling data from a database - I need to now export the data to a text file to import it into a different database. I need the format to be like below. Wondering how I can tell the query to go to the second line and then the third line like below.
I have a CSV file and want to convert it in a text format with some filtered data and with some formatting. This is an everyday task for me. So I made a table and imported the data in to it by the command :
Actually I have a column "SERIES", contains various series like "EQ", "BE", "DR", "BZ", "D1" and so on. And one more column with the dates having 4 / 5 current months dates and one next months date and one next to next month's date. And every date has got several thousand records.
now the issue is that : After importing these several thousand records, I want to export it but with a specific date and with a specific series.
The other thing is that, these dates change every month so if hard coded, the problem will occur the next month.
this code is working fine but when the month will change, the code won't work.
Can we have a date & series picker attached to this query, so it can export the records with the specified SERIES & DATE.
I tried putting a textbox on the form named TxtDate and in a Query ( Design mode ) under the date column, in criteria I have put [Forms]![Futures]![TxtDate] and after putting this line, the query becomes empty and no data is there.
I have a Graph that uses a crosstab query to generate the data. Its only a simple query. One of the fields is project type, but in the query this changes to a number instead of text? I would like to have this as text but don't know how to go about it. I have searched forums and tried Allen Browne's suggestion on specifying column headings but no luck.
I have attached the initial query and the crosstab query in the screen shot as well as the graph. My aim is to get the project names in the legend, instead of 1, 2 as shown.
Hello, Does anyone knows how can I export the export/import specifications (which file/directory) and how can I import/export the specifications between different versions of Access. Thanks!
Not sure if there is a quick answer but I am trying to complete a crosstab query that references a lookup table. I cannot remove the lookup tables because the database was designed by a consultant. The lookup table is referenced as the column heading. The query works fine until I change the column headings in the properties box - it returns the column headings but there are no values. Am I doing something simple wrong or is it having troubles because it is a lookup table for column headings.
SELECT PreStatus.Operator, PreStatus.Mode, Sum(PreStatus.CountOfMode) AS SumOfCountOfMode, IIf([SumOfCountOfMode]>=3,"YES","NO") AS [Current], PreStatus.Rate, PreStatus.Last, PreStatus.First, PreStatus.DET FROM PreStatus GROUP BY PreStatus.Operator, PreStatus.Mode, IIf([SumOfCountOfMode]>=3,"YES","NO"), PreStatus.Rate, PreStatus.Last, PreStatus.First, PreStatus.DET HAVING (((PreStatus.Rate) Like "*" & [Forms]![Status]![Rate] & "*") AND ((PreStatus.Last) Like "*" & [Forms]![Status]![Last] & "*") AND ((PreStatus.First) Like "*" & [Forms]![Status]![First] & "*") AND ((PreStatus.DET) Like "*" & [Forms]![Status]![DET] & "*")) ORDER BY PreStatus.Operator;
When I run Query a dialog box request for SumOfCountOfMode appears. Is there anyway I can turn this MsgBox off? This Database is used for the user to find out if their personel are current in said data. The user will be running this query through a Form and will get their results via a report if they put anything in this MsgBox it could possibly skew the data they are looking for.
I have a count and store data INTO a table named USTATE
When I run the query it works within 30 seconds. but when i add INTO USTATE then it takes 4-8 minutes to complete it and asks for if i want to delete the existing.
I have this small database, I would like to have your support to setup this query "QryResults" in order to remove the duplicate records, I can't find a way to get shown only true records, for some reason I'm getting duplicate rows and fake values, the query is calculating operations from two different queries and a table.
Hi, I believe this is a fairly simple action, but I am not sure how to link tables correctly to get my needed outcome. Here is what I am trying to do: I am a teacher and I am making a database for all of my classes. I want to be able to input an assignment name and a score for each student by grade and class number. I teach three grade levels and in each grade level there are 4 classes. So for instance I have Grade 7 Class 1, Grade 7 Class 2, Grade 7 Class 3 and Grade 7 Class 4. I have the same for Grades 8 and 9. I would like it set-up so when I go to enter a student's score in a form I first type in the Grade level and class number and then it narrows the available students down by only those in the appropriate class. I have built a main table with all the needed fields, a table for all the students' names, their grade level and class number and another table for possible grade level class number combinations. I feel like this is all I should need and it's just a matter of linking it correctly. I just can't get it. Thanks in advance for any help.
What I have a a form that my lab supervisor would use. That person selects the records that are to be modified and assigns work, completes work or otherwise updates the status of the records. One of the options is to mark a record as not having a sample here if it has already been marked as having been here. So essentially, I want to modify the record to change the sample arrival date and sample number field (which is a foreign key field) to null or empty. I have created a delete query that deletes the corresponding record just fine.I just am having difficulty updating the two fields mentioned above. When the supervisor selects the record the primary key for that record is also picked up so it is easy to know exactly what record to adjust. The query returns the information to be updated just fine, it just doesn't do that. Here is the sql of the query. As I said, I don't care if the fields are empty or null. Also the fields aren't required.
Code: UPDATE TestRequestTable SET TestRequestTable.SampleLocation = "", TestRequestTable.SampleArrivalDate = "" WHERE (((TestRequestTable.TestRequestNumber)=[Forms]![LabScheduleForm]![TRNumberCombo]));
I have 3 queries that provide the same printer information. Each one is queried by a different field: IP address, asset tag, and serial number. This may not mean anything in the long run, though I figured it is worth mentioning.
The users need to be able to quickly query a printer utilizing one of those criteria and then copy and paste it into our ticketing system. Is there a way to automatically export the record from the query to a text file? I have extensively searched online and have tried to come up with something but I have found that I don't know where to start. This is the code for the query:
Code: Dim intCount As Integer intCount = 0 If DCount("Location", "Phone numbers Query") > 0 Then intCount = intCount + 1 DoCmd.OpenQuery "", acViewNormal, acReadOnly
I have successfully put together some VBA code that will accept a user's input into a textbox on a form. A cmdFindprinter button is clicked and the query is ran. The user is asked via an inputbox for their login ID so that the query is exported to a text file on the desktop. The query then pops up in a new tab and also automatically exports the queried record to a text file on the desktop. I have upward of 30 users using this form at any given time and I need the following automated.
What I would like to do is to have the text file go into a specific format. For example:
IP address: Serial number: Location:
The name of one of the queries is "Xerox IP Query", the field names would be "IP Address", "SerialNumber", and "Site Name".
This is what comes up in the text file right now:
"CXF345946","157.229.243.58","123 Happy Ave"
I'd like to remove the quotes and have the info fall into place as shown in the example above.
This is the code so far:
Code: Private Sub cmdFindprinter_Click() On Error GoTo cmdFindprinter_Click_Err Dim strPath As String userNT = InputBox("Please enter your NT ID", "ServiceBase Xerox Printer Query", "Enter your NT ID") strPath = "C:Users" & userNT & "DesktopPrinterQuery.txt" If Heading = 0 Then Exit Sub
A little background. I need to export the results of a query I use to build a report. For Print Master software I need the "Field Names" in the text file as well as the data for a Mail Merge in Print Master (PM).
"The field name information in the file you have specified is missing or not correctly formatted. The first line of the file must contain the database field names. Make sure the "Export Field Names" (or similar) option is selected in the program from which you are exporting data."
Trouble is, when trying to export the report or query, Access has no "Export Field Names" option. It works if I first export to Excel and then from Excel to "txt" then to Printmaster. I would like to eliminate the Excel step. Therefore, how do or can I get Access Export to transfer the "Field Names" along with the field data?
I'm relatively new to access. I have a database i created for my school project everything works fine until I try running a query with 2 or more tables, the queries return a datasheet with all the table headings but no data content, I ensured that there is data in the tables that I'm trying to join for the query.
I have a form built with multiple buttons. Once the user clicks the button and enters their parameter, I am using VBA to export the data to an excel pivot table. I would like to turn the subtotals to false so as the user clicks the check boxes in the pivot there are not any totals, subtotals, or grand totals. I am not sure how to add that to an existing query?
I have a database that needs data to be reentered every school term, at the moment i am having to delete selected data fields manually. im looking to create a query so that the data is deleted by running it. The data would be returned to a blank field. I have tried using a delete query but it is asking for the selected table, even though a selected table exists. Using the update query i am faced with updating the query to a typed word however i just want it blank.
I created a csv to allow me to update sage act witht he contents. The problem is that the csv file adds the Field Headings which is causing act to fail to recognise any of the data to import.
When i created a blank csv file without these headings, the data was recognised and available for import. My question is... how do i get rid of these headings?
