I've got 2 tables, same structure, one [T-temp-Target] holds number of training units split by module a trainee needs to finish the course, the other [T-temp-Actual] holds what they've completed so far.
Both tables have structure TRAINEEID MODCODE CountOfUnits
I'm trying to find the modules that they've not done yet so I can add up the units for them, only modules that have been started are recorded in the table of what they've done [T-temp-Actual], modules they haven't started yet aren't included in it. Here's the SQL
Code: SELECT [T-temp-Target].TRAINEEID, [T-temp-Target].MODCODE, [T-temp-Actual].MODCODE FROM [T-temp-Actual] INNER JOIN [T-temp-Target] ON ([T-temp-Actual].TRAINEEID = [T-temp-Target].TRAINEEID) AND ([T-temp-Actual].MODCODE = [T-temp-Target].MODCODE) WHERE ((([T-temp-Actual].MODCODE) Is Null));
I have a table where csv files get imported to on a daily basis. The key fields I am working with are a supply number and date. The problem I have is that sometimes the csv file will contain information that is correcting/updating information held in the table. This is creating duplicated records.I need to either create a query to find records that have the same supply number and date or find a way of overwriting the records in the table with the new data.
Hi, I have a cross-ref table (called MFC_CIBC_XREF) which links a bank account to a fund number and a general ledger number. It should be a unique relationship, wherein (the "=" means corresponds/links to)
Bank Account # "=" Fund #
For each bank account, there are sometimes multiple currencies being used, so each currency then links to a general ledger account, such that
Bank Account #.Currency = Fund #.General Ledger #
Sorry, if that's kinda cryptic, but here's an example:
Bank Account - ABCD123 Currencies operated in - CAD, USD Fund # - F30
Based on the above, ABCD123 "=" F30, and including the general ledger numbers, ABCD123.CAD "=" F30.100, ABCD123.USD "=" F30.8121.
Basically, it's a way to keep track of not just the transactions for a particular bank account, but for the transactions in a particular currency.
Anyway, as I said, it's supposed to be a 1-to-1 relationship: each BankAccount.Currency should correspond to 1 and only 1 Fund.GeneralLedger. However, there are some entries in the table which have each BankAccount.Currency corresponding to multiple General Ledger numbers. Using my example above, ABCD123.CAD has two records in the table, one corresponding to F30.100, and another corresponding to F30.8101. This was probably because F30.8101 used to be linked to a different bank account, that got merged (ie, it might have been linked to ABCD124.CAD that then got merged into ABCD123.CAD).
Now I want to run a query on MFC_CIBC_XREF and find all the records where for each BankAccount.Currency, there is more than one Fund.GeneralLedger. I don't really know that much SQL, and even in Design View, I'm not sure of the statements to use. Any help is much appreciated.
I have a database with an import process which normalises incoming data and appends to various tables. No issues with that. I also have a function within that process which counts the number of new entries for a summary popup when the process has completed. This works by querying the staging table, prior to the append, into a recordset and using the .RecordCount to increment the count (multiple files can be imported at once so this effectively provides a running count, per file, to give a total for the whole import)
I thought it was working fine but this morning I noticed that the count which appeared on the popup was 1 greater than the number of actual new records. I checked the source files and noticed that, for whatever reason, there was a duplicate entry in there. So I presume that's why the count was out by 1.
There's no integrity issue in the main tables as the composite primary keys ensure that duplication shouldn't be a problem. Indeed, the record in question, duplicated in the source, appears only once in the main table post-import. So not too worried about that.
However, I need the count in the popup to be accurate (it tells the users how many new entries require further investugation). And what's puzzling me is that I use DISTINCT in the query, which I would have thought should eliminate any potential dupes in the recordset and thus provide the correct count. It seems it doesn't?
Code: Public lngNewBalancesTBI As Long ' Defined in a separate module... ------- Dim dbs As Database Dim rst As Recordset Dim strSQL As String
[code]....
Why the dupe, which is still present in the staging table, also makes it over to the recordset, even though I'm using DISTINCT?
I have a table with duplicate records (which is ok) and I want to return distinct data for each client.
It works fine when there is only two fields returned however, when I add a third field to the query it no longer returns only the Distinct records - I am getting Duplicates returned.
I.E
SELECT DISTINCT tblClient.ClientNo, tblClient.Name FROM tblClient
Works fine with only the Distinct records for each client returned
However
SELECT DISTINCT tblClient.ClientNo, tblClient.Name, tblClient.Address, tblClient.OrderValue FROM tblClient
Now returns Duplicates!
Is there a limit to the number of fields to be returned using DISTINCT or what else could be the problem? Should I be doing this some other way?
In my simple database (attached), I need to mass duplicate Tasks and their Notes.
I have three tables: tbTasks (PK: Task_ID), tbNotes (PK: Note_ID), jtbTaskNotes (FKs: Task_ID and Note_ID). jtbTaskNotes is my many-to-many junction table that ties Tasks to Notes.
The main form (fmTasks), bound to tbTasks, has a subform (sbfm_TaskNotes) that displays notes associated with each Task. On themain form, you select which Tasks you want duplicated via a checkbox. The append query (quCopyTasks) will duplicate all tasks that have the checkbox checked. All good there. However, I can't figure out how to also duplicate each task's Notes.
I found Allen Browne's solution [URL] ....., but that only handles duplication of one record at a time, whereas I need to duplicate many records at a time (sometimes 10+ records). How do I go about duplicating multiple Tasks and their associated Notes?
Before you ask "why are you duplicating records?": There are times when tasks need to be re-accomplished and therefore need to have a new record. It's easier to duplicate records than it is to hand-jam everything again.
Field1 ID is an auto record ID, field2 ID is actually field1 ID assigned that record, in other words record 1 has a roommate (record 5) assigned to it, record 2 has a roommate (record 4) assigned to it
Table A
Field1 ID Field2 ID 1 5 2 4 3 6 4 2 5 1 6 8
Results records I'm looking to display for would be: 1 5 2 4 3 6 6 8
I only want to display all fields for records, but I don't want to show their matching record, so I want to display record1, but not record 5 because record 1 has record 5 as a roommate, want to display record 2 but not record 4.
how or what function (DLookup) should I use to prevent duplicate records based on multiple fields? I want to look at data in three fields that can't match existing data in those three fields. It's ok if one or two of the fields match but not all three.
My colleague has a multiple table database and uses lookups for some fields. The simple query was to extract 3 fields and display all records from those fields. The result of the query was that the selected fields were listed first followed by all other fields which are usually not displayed.
I would like to populate form fields with records from a table/query so that they are bound to the recordsource and the record to be displayed can be selected from a combobox. I am hoping that in this way, any changes made are propagated to the original table.
I have created a combobox from which the primary key can be selected and added all the fields from the table appearing on this form as values.
In my Change event for the combobox I have this code:
Private Sub cboID_Change() Me.RecordSource = "SELECT b01_Participants.*FROM b01_Participants WHERE (((b01_Participants.ParticipantID)= " & cboID.Column(1) & "));" Me.Refresh End Sub
However, I receive an 3075 error when this code runs which seems to relate to my syntax or an extra ")".
I have a table which includes a start date field and completion date field for housebuilding.
I am trying to extract all records that have either a started date or a completed date between 2 dates supplied by the user. I have tried to use Between on both fields but that doesn't return results between the fields.
It workd if I just do it on EITHER the start date field OR the completion date field so that implies to me that I need to break it into 2 queries, one returning start date recrods and the other returning completion date records but then I would need to have somthing that removes records that appear in both the start date and the completion date results.
I have a table with records for products from each sales region (4 regions, N, NE, S, W). The table has the following fields: Region, Product Name, Product Description, Category, Business Line, and Supplier.
While the Product name is consistent across the regions the description, category, bus.line and supplier may have slightly different entries in each region. I need to build a query that when any of the Product Description, Category, Business Line, and Supplier fields do not match across divisions for each Product Name will display all the records for that Product Name. Any ideas?
In my job we work with several raw data .txt files exported from Oracle ERP system. These data include information about: inventory, sales, backorders, purchase orders, forecasts, product line.
My goal is to put information from all of these imported txt files together to create an easy to use snapshot file.
The common field between al of these files is the item description. I have an issue where records are repeated for several fields every time the same item description is showed. For example for the same product description the january sales forecast QTY is repeated on several rows because there are several orders for this product description. Is there a way to make forecast QTY appear only once but keep the multiple orders and their information?
Any way to query duplicate data from two different fields from two different tables in the same access 2010 project. I first quried the first part since it combines the first 3 columns to create another value (i.e. 52 & 60 = 5260).
So I created the concatenative value but now I have to compare to another field to display what results are found in both the concatenative and the other (APN in the file). I tried using query wizard but it is for only one field. I understand you have to use joins but the destination filed is what gets me.
Using sql or access query I would like to create an expression that aggregates the first field and I would like to see all records grouped by the relationship with another field. Let me show an example.
My query shows:
field1 field2 apple a apple b banana a carrot a carrot b dog b elephant b
I would like my query to now display a third field and group field :
field1 field3 apple both banana a carrot both dog b elephant b
I have built a qry that initially shows the correct information. For example.
tblContent has 289 records with a Type = Class.
I built a Query to select from tblContent Type = Class and I get 289 records. I add additional criteria of Progress <>"Not Scheduled", I then get 206 records. I then add additional criteria Last Name <>"Demo" And <>"Care" And <>"Support". This brings up 200 records, but the query appears to duplicate each record 3 times. I do not have 3 of the same types of records.
The SQL Statement is below
SELECT tblProfile.LoginName, tblProfile.FirstName, tblProfile.LastName, tblProfile.Organization, tblProfile.CostCenter, tblContent.Title, tblContent.Type, tblContent.Code, tblContent.[Date Assigned], tblContent.[Date Started], tblContent.[Last Accessed], tblContent.Progress, tblContent.[Date Completed] FROM tblProfile INNER JOIN tblContent ON tblProfile.LoginName = tblContent.LoginName WHERE (((tblProfile.LastName)<>"Demo" And (tblProfile.LastName)<>"Care" And (tblProfile.LastName)<>"Support") AND ((tblContent.Type)="Class") AND ((tblContent.Progress)<>"Not Scheduled"));
The qry is named qryPhysical Class. I have provided the link to view the database. Can you help me?
I need to find all MaintItems which field MIC don't exist in either MIC1 or MIC2. So the only result which I need to see is MaintItem '5100161086' as MIC <> MIC1 Unfortunately I can create query which would approve '5100662734' as well
So bottom line I need a query which will display only the row below as MIC doesn't exist in neither MIC1 nore MIC2. Also I will have to deal with much more MICs soon so maybe there is a way to concatenate them and compare, isn't it? 5100161086 500001711 50000173
Attached query is what I got so far, but that displays last 3 rows of table above
I am trying to create a query and in the expression builder to find the max value from 3 different fields in 3 other queries. So each of the fields are called "TopSpeed" and the 3 queries are called "Test", "Training" & "Race".So in my new query I would like to return the MAX speed value from the 3 combined "TopSpeed" fields.Something like
I thought I had just about finished my DB but now Ive printed out and checked my reports I notice I have several records in different types of reports showing duplicate records. Iv'e gone back over the queries and there are one or two duplicates in several of my queries that I did not notice before because there are are only the odd one or two. No matter what I do I can't stop this happening. I think it must be something to do with the dates in my payment table. PaymentID is key field - foreign key is MemberID. One member can have several paymentID's a new one every year when membership renewed. The problem seems to be when the member has two payment dates in the same year. This shouldn't be anyway but the database has not been used properly with entry dates missing, written over of wrong dates etc. Ive tried to correct this but do not want to tamper with past payment date records. I already have 'select distinct' in my queries and have tried 'distinct row' which seems to return even more duplicate records. Im pulling my hair out over this there must be a way to return the records from members showing just 1 only of their very latest payment record/date. Im using this expression in the query.
LastPaid: (SELECT MAX(PaymentDate) FROM S_Payments_Table WHERE S_Payments_Table.MemberID =S_Members_Table.MemberID)
I have been hitting my head against the wall to have my query not show any DUPLICATE STOCK CODES in my report..I have two "AQN.PR.A" records, I only want my report to print one "AQN.PR.A"...I have three "ALA" records, I only want my report to print one "ALA"AQN.PR.A
I need to do a query to find a field value from similar fields. Table 1 has fields(customer id,...) and table 2 has fields (customer id, address,...). I need to use customer id from table 1 to find address in table 2. Both customer id fields in both tables is the same.
