I have an issue with queries not showing sufficient decimal points, even though the underlying table does have the formatting I desire.
If I open Table 1 directly, for Field 1 I have a value of 0.1439254445378153860918842318 using a format of decimal / fixed / Precision: 18 / Scale: 0 / Decimal: 2 and it shows in the table as 0.14 until I click on the cell in which case I get the full value above.
This is how I want it to show (0.14). When I run a query on this table, not setting any formats in the query, I get 0.00, and clicking on the cell only provides a result of 0. I've tried a ton of different underlying formats on Table 1, and been unable to get a different result...
Is there a way to make some of the fields from my form that contain calculated values carry to the table? Right now the values calculate correctly in the form but when I look at the table the field is blank...
I was hoping to use one form to calculate a value, insert it in the table, and then use that value in another form.
I have a table in MS Access naming "Salutation" and in the table I have 6 columns and each column named as Week No., Carry Forward records, new records, total records, processed records and pending records. Like below
Week No. Carry Forward records new records total processed pending 1 0 10 10 5 5 2 5 10 15 7 8 3 8 20 28 9 19
So now the requirement is every day pending records should get updated in the next row with in the same table under carry forward records of its next immediate day. For e.g. pending records of week number 1 which is 5 should get updated under carry forward records for week number 2 and so on.
I have an Access 2010 table which shows Latitude and Longitude. However instead of it being in a decimal format it is displayed as 4000000000. I need to add a decimal point so that it looks like 40.00000000. If I configure the Field Properties to Decimal with a scale of eight and decimal places set to eight I can manually convert all of the data to the correct format. But I would like to have this happen automatically from a query.
I have a link table that has a field that represents dates - but they are actually just text. It's a long story but the source is not going to change - so I have to try and deal with it. I need it to behave as a date - and am hoping to do this in a query. The data looks like this:
7/24/12 10/08/13
I have tried various things but it does not seem to totally do the trick - if I sort on it it still does not sort as one would expect from an actual date field. How do I do this?
is there any way to carry specific data entered by the user from 3 forms to one printable form which is set up like a city permit? ideally, i'd like the user to be able to click on a button to open the permit & then click print after having entered all the data into the 3 forms (1st form opens 2nd; 2nd opens 3rd). ie - a contractor comes in & applies for a permit, the user (permit clerk) enters all the contractor's info into form 1 then clicks permit & enters the info for that specific permit (there are 4 types) into form 2, then clicks payment & enters check #, fee, etc. into form 3. the permit should now be issued but only needs to have permit #, contractor name, date, location, & amount paid on it. is this possible? i've tried building a query to base a report on with the with that info but am not gettin the results i want, and i don't know how to have a report display only one permit at a time. plus, my users don't want to have to run a query & then print a report. they just want to click print after entering the data (they're very lazy, set in their ways, and not very computer literate). please excuse my dumbness but the whole application is up & running except for this last part.:o please help! thanx in advance.
What code should I use for the system to carry out a certain action every time it is a certain date of every month. eg if the date is 5th, the system should invoice all tenants with rent of the value of the house they live in. I am unable to work with the date changes.
Every time we get to a new month, I want the rent system to update the rent balance value.
I have created a new form with a few tabs, I need to let the value's of the last record be carry to a new record, but it must only show when I press the first letter on the new record, I did rerad about this, but only find it for normal forms. Did try to get it to work, but it dows not work on tabs form
I am a novice with Access and I would appreciate any help with two issues: 1. I am trying to get a value to forward to the next record in a different field so that I may keep a running total. For example: Record 1. A field named Today is added to a field named Forward to get a total in a field named Total. Record 2. I would like to get the value from record 1 in the Total field to carry forward to the the field named Forward in record 2.
The form looks something like this:
Today: 10:00 Forward: 2:00 Total: 12:00
I would like to get the value of 12:00 in record 1 carried forward to the Forward field of reocrd 2 so that the Forward field in record 2 would read 12:00.
2. I also need to add times together arithmatically but the problem I have is that when the total exceeds 24:00 hours it shows only the amount that exceeds 24 hours. For example, if I add 22:00 to 5:00 the result is 3:00 not 27:00. I need to show 27:00 as the total.
Any help with these two items would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, uspilot
I am having difficulty getting the right record to carry forward into a modal subform to edit/update information. The Request_nmbr is an autonumber field. The client can have multiple requests. When I open my subform, I can scroll through the records, but when I launch the "update" button, I don't know how to carry forward the request_nmbr so that I'm updating the right record.
Here's my code: Private Sub Btn_Exception_SubModal_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "Frm_Exception_UpdateModal", acNormal, , acFormAdd Forms! [Frm_Exception_UpdateModal]![Request_nmbr].value = Me![Request_nmbr].value Forms! [Frm_Exception_UpdateModal]![clientnmbr].value = Me![clientnmbr].value End Sub
I was about to post a question yesterday, but I found a solution myself and would like to share it. When a new column is computed in the query, there is no way to prescribe the data format of the computed column (=field =variable). It is done automatically by access and it can go wrong. I tried to use Format() function but it changes the look but does not change the type of the column. So what you have to do is to wrap your expression in a data convertion function. I used CDBL() as a wrapper for my expression.
I consider it as a bug of Access because in my situation I had a swich() function that took only numeric fields and produced only number but the data type of the column was set to TEXT. I noticed it in the pivot table later on , when I could only use Count() as aggregate function.
Good luck! and take care of data conversion by yourself, do not let it go automatically!
P.S. If anyone knows a better way to prevent such conversion errors, be my guest!!!
If I'm working strictly from SQL, is there a way to format a field as currency, standard number, etc. without using the format() function? Basically the equivalent of setting the format in the property sheet in design view, without going to design view.
I need to convert the date format October 10th, 2013 to 10/01/2013 in a field using sql in access 2010,I know it has to be an update query but dont know how to start writing the query.
I have this query that finds people based on a given id number that they own. The ID number is in the format of (0000-0000) The tables have input masks so that when entering the ID number all the user has to worry about is entering the numbers. I have a report for that shows every customer in the database and i want to be able to copy and paste the (0000-0000) portion of the ID number but the query is only able to find customers by (00000000) format is there a way that i can get the query prompt to ignore the dash in between the numbers or would it be easier to remove the input mask and enter everything manually?
I'm creating a query with VBA, then exporting it to Excel. I have a couple calculated date fields that are exporting in the format of dd-mmm-yy, but I want them in the mm/dd/yyyy format. In the query, they're in the proper format, but not in the export. I tried using Format([DateField],"mm/dd/yyyy"), but then they left align in the export, but are fine in the query.
I use expression on the query field, but after I run it, the field change its format from number to text, how to reformat on the query criteria to change the text to integer format?
I currently have a query pulling data from a database - I need to now export the data to a text file to import it into a different database. I need the format to be like below. Wondering how I can tell the query to go to the second line and then the third line like below.
I have this expression I created and I want to know how to format it as currency. I know how to do it with a regular field but the option is not available for an expression.
The expression:
Code : Charge: IIf([Rate] Is Not Null,[Rate],"0.00")
I have the following VBA code to search for a string
Code: 'Search by Phone Private Sub CmdSearchPhones_Click() Me.Refresh strSQL = "SELECT Tbl_Contacts.ContactID, Tbl_Contacts.FName, Tbl_Contacts.LName, Tbl_Contacts.Address, Tbl_Contacts.City, Tbl_Contacts.State, Tbl_Contacts.Zip, Tbl_Contacts.HomePhone, Tbl_Contacts.WorkPhone,
[Code] .....
My issue is that this works 50/50, because phone numbers on the database are NOW being stored in this format (000) 000-0000 and previous DB phone numbers got stored as 0000000000. The above code finds previous DB phone numbers (even if we dont enter all 10 digits) without a problem but has issues with new phone numbers stored in the new format UNLESS I specify the search with (000) 000-0000 (but we want to be able to search without adding that and without typing all 10 digits - in case we forget part of the number we are looking for)
How can I tell my query to find both formats, with the (000) 000-0000 AND 0000000000 ....
I have a query which pulls up results based on the value of a text box. All works well except one field has a DOB (date) and if I search say for " /1976" I get no results, however search /76 and all the people with that year of birth show then show up. The date is stored in the dd/mm/yyyy format.
I'm using the like [forms]![clients]![searchfield] in the criteria of the query to bring up results.
I run a MakeTable Query on some data to COunt the number of records and Sum the Value of $$$ in a Currency field. The results produce a Number for the Count, but the SUM of the Balances is returned as text.
To get the SUM I use the expression SumBal: DSum("[Balance]","[XAM_data]").
Why it won't return the SumBal in Currency format?
I am increasing prices and after increasing I am left with 4 decimal places and am trying to figure out how to run an UPDATE query to round down prices to the nearest 5 cents, examples below:
42.4516 round to $42.45 42.4659 round to $42.45 42.4489 round to $42.40 2.49 round to $2.45 2.46 round to $2.45 2.44 round to $2.40 2.04 round to $2
