Queries :: How To Print A Label For Each Record Returned By Query
Dec 27, 2013
I have a query that returns several records, typically 1 to 5. I need to print a label for each record returned by the query. Printing a label is no problem, but how do I print sequentally for each record in the query?

At most one record can be returned by this subquery. (Error 3354)
This is my SQL:
SELECT Students.[Student ID], Students.[Student Name]
FROM Students
WHERE (((Students.[Student ID])=(SELECT [Student ID]
FROM [Student_Sports]
WHERE [Sporting Team] = [Forms]![SV_Teams]![txtTeam])));

I'm trying to run a line of code after doing a Query Search that reports back the total number of results pulled from the search. I've dug around and found some useful code, but nothing that gives the results I'm needing. Most everything gives me the total number from the query. I'm also using a Split Form.
The process goes: Enter numeric search in Text10 and hit the search button to run the following macro: [studentID]=[Forms]![Query1]![Text10]
It then gives me the requested information.I have a second text box (Text19) that needs to display the number of pulled results. I've written VBA that only gives me the total number searched for studentID or for the entire Query.
Can I simply add an additional line to the Macro?

I had a subfrom with two combos and a label,
-the user selects name or id from the combo and the label gets filled with information.
-added a print this on the subform and I thought it worked but when I tested it it does not print the data, only a blank label and the two blank combo boxes...
I was wondering if there is an option to print the caption of a label, or if anyone knew how to fix the problem i have above.
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Hi--I have a contact database, and would like to be able to have a command button on the form for each contact to print one individual mailing label for that particular contact, preferably in a user-specified row/column on a page of Avery 6245 labels. Am realizing that this is a major hassle in Access but would like to do it within Access (why is it so easy to print huge lists of labels but so hard to print just one??). Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty good at writing queries and reports in Access but a rank newbie at the underlying SQL and VBA so need major handholding if that's involved (and I know it is ). Thanks.

I am new to Access and I have just imported my old ham radio logs from a DOS based Smart database - rememeber that one.
I have created a reasonable functioning table. I have also created a Query to sort certain records for which I want to print labels to affix to my radio card which I wish to send to other radio stations (called QSL cards). I have created a Report to run the Query and to print a label. Here is my label. It is a mixture of text strings and data from my log database Query.
To Radio 9U9Z QSL QSO
dd/mm/yy UTC Freq Mode RST
24-Feb-07 18:44:00 18.148 ssb 55
73's de Mark N1XX (WAB 11XXX)
Here is the code for the date time etc line - the 3rd line down on the label above - taken from the design view
=Trim([Date] & " " & [Time_UTC] & " " & [Frequency] & " " & [Mode] & " " & [Rpt_Sent])
I am not sure how to format the date to print just the hours and minutes. I would have hoped that since the main log table was using a short time that it would have folowed automatically. In fact the time was printing as 12 hour time and I had to go into my Windows XP preferences and change the pc to a 24 hr clock to get it to print as a 24 hour clock. I tried setting the pc to an hrs and minutes time but it didn't fix my label format. It still shows seconds. I would like to get label to print 24hr hours and minutes and be able to set my pc back to a 12 hour clock format.
Thanks for your help. I still have loads to learn with this database program.
thanks Mark

Hi there,
I have created a form containing contact details for a 100 or so different people/companies. I want to have a button that will allow me to print an address label for the current displayed record (e.g. when I find the company I wish to contact in my form I wish to click [Print Label] and then get this company's address printed on my label).
Have some programming experience but not sure how to go about this in access?
Also as an aside question, is it possible for me to display a list in my form instead of individual records. What I mean is that I would have Name, Address, etc as titles accross the top and then would have a list of all records below these. Then I could click on a record to get more detail and also click on one of the titles to re-order the data by this field?......I know these are pretty big questions but a pointer to somewhere with this info or a sample app doing something similiar would be great. :)
Thanks for your time, regards,
Lavaghman

I've got a report that spits out a barcoded label for items on my inventory. What I'd like to know, is if there is a way in 2010 to allow the user to select where on the page for the label to print.
I found a way that looks like it worked for 2007, but it required enabling ADO, which I am not able to do on my work computer.

I am trying to make a label visible on a form during print if a field has "like a string". We use a form so that it prints 3 forms to one page (They are tags for units for repair). I can get the label to be visible in the form view but when I print, the label is visible on every record where it is only visible on the current record in form view. My goal is to have the label only show on those records where the condition is met.
Here is my code that works in form view only: (It is to designate easier a warranty tag from a new repair tag)
Code:
If Me.Problem_Description Like "Warr*" Then
Me.lbl_w.Visible = True
Else
Me.lbl_w.Visible = False
End If
I have attached an image of a tag sheet Tag_Sheet_W.jpg. As you can see if I got my desired result only the first tag would have a W.

I have a subquery on a table which got the previous and next rows from a table. This worked fine, until I started replacing my table with real data instead of dummy-data. I now receive the "at most one record can be returned by subquery" error every time I run it. I checked that I do not have any identical rows.
My query:
Code:
SELECT z.DateFrom, z.DateTo, z.ArticleID, z.retailerID, z.Actuals, z.Statistical, (SELECT y.Actuals FROM tblActuals AS y WHERE (y.retailerID=z.retailerID) AND (y.ArticleID=z.ArticleID) AND ((DatePart("ww",z.DateFrom,2,3)-1)=DatePart("ww",y.DateFrom,2,3))) AS ActualsMin1 FROM tblActuals AS z;
I append new rows via a VBA-script from another table.

Finally got my DB straight so I am not using calculated fields however can't figure out the best way to handle the Combo Box so I do not show closed records ( Item checked out and item returned).
Please see the attached table of materials checked out and materials returned. How to setup a query so that if an item has been returned and matches the item checked out, Both the original check-in and the matching return records are filtered and not displayed in the Combo Box.
Also, I am a little worried about partial returns as when an employee only returns half the amount.

Good afternoon!
I have a database that tracks the withdraws and returns of shared tools.
The withdraw form has a check box on it that is checked to show removed when the item is ordered (this keeps that item from showing up in inventory searches). When the item is returned, that check box is unchecked, showing that the item can be withdrawn again.
When a person withdraws an item their supervisors name is also logged so that we know who to chase down when the item doesn't come back.
I have a query that is supposed to show what items are still outstanding based on a date range (I got the prompt for date range to work..yea me). However, the query shows every time that the item was borrowed.
Example...
I borrow a hammer and my supervisor is Bob. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
The next I borrow the same hammer and again my supervisor is Bob. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
The day after I borrow the same hammer and my supervisor is Joe. I return the hammer. It does not show as still withdrawn in my query.
Some other day I borrow the same hammer and my supervisor is Joe. I do not return the hammer. The two times I borrowed the hammer with my supervisor as Bob show up as well as the other time that I borrwed it with my supervisor as Joe shows up as well as the one that shows I still have it.
. One of the criteria in the query is essentially only show the items that have the check box checked (criteria=true). But that apparently does nothing, or (more than likely), I am doing something wrong.
This is the SQL:
SELECT tblOrder.OrderDate, tblOrder.Supervisor, tblEmployee.EmployeeFirst, tblEmployee.EmployeeLast, tblItemSpecifics.Description, tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number
FROM (tblEmployee INNER JOIN tblOrder ON tblEmployee.GlobalID = tblOrder.GID) INNER JOIN (tblItemSpecifics INNER JOIN tblOrderInfo ON tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number = tblOrderInfo.Serial_Number) ON tblOrder.OrderNumber = tblOrderInfo.Order_Number
GROUP BY tblItemSpecifics.Removed, tblOrder.OrderDate, tblOrder.Supervisor, tblEmployee.EmployeeFirst, tblEmployee.EmployeeLast, tblItemSpecifics.Description, tblItemSpecifics.Serial_Number
HAVING (((tblItemSpecifics.Removed)=True));

I'm running access 2k, WinXP Pro SP2 - both are current with latest updates. I'm having a problem getting the select query behind a report to give me the results I need. The query works with two tables (Client List and Atty_Pmt). Atty_Pmt is related to Client List on a one-many relationship, using ClientList_ID primary key.The payments table structure is as follows:Atty_PmtIDDatePayAmtPayNotesClientList_IDThe Client List table has fields like 'lname', 'fname', 'dob', etc, etc.The ClientList table structure is as follows:IDLnameFnamedobstatusIm trying to structure a query that will list each client, and ONLY the last payment they made. I tried using a select query Top n, making 'n' value 1, and it only lists one client, one payment record, which isnt even the last payment they made. This is the query that I currently have....SELECT TOP 1 [Client List].ID, [Client List].Lname, [Client List].Fname, Atty_Pmt.Atty_PmtID, Atty_Pmt.Date, Atty_Pmt.PayAmt, Atty_Pmt.PayNotes FROM [Client List] INNER JOIN Atty_Pmt ON [Client List].ID = Atty_Pmt.ClientList_ID;Can someone tell me how to single out the most recent payment (either by greatest date - maybe closest date to current date - or by the 'Atty_PmtID' field). It could possibly be based on the 'Atty_PmtID' field because the payments are entered in order as they come in, so the most recent payment would be the higher 'Atty_PmtID' autonumber, but I just dont know. Thanks in advance for your suggestions and helpJRSemper-Fi!

Hi again.
I've a database with patient information. The database is structured in the following way:
tblPatients - patient information
tblVisits - visit information (one patient can have many visits)
tblInfo - extra information related to a visit
tblTreatment1 - treatment1 (linked to a visit)
tblTreatment2 - treatment2 (linked to a visit)
+ a couple of dozen minor tables and subtables
What I need is to be able to print out a patient record with all the information related to the patient in question. A patient may have one or more visits, and one visit may include one or more treatments or several instances of one treatment. A visit may or may not have some extra information on tblInfo (etc.)
Tables are linked to each other via key fields in a normal way. (= tblVisits is linked to tblPatients via patientID field, and tblTreatment1 is linked to tblVisits via visitID field etc.) All keys of the main tables are auto numbers.
My question is: how to gather this information from the tables? This seems to be too complex for Access's report wizard to accomplish. My Access Bible -book advices to create a query to collect all the information first, but I'm having problems with this, too. One problem is that not all tables have information related to a certain patient, or one patient can have more than one record in (eg.) tblVisits.
What do you suggest? I'm starting to think it would be best to write a query directly in SQL and base a report on that query. Could you give me some advice as to where to start and how to create the SQL statements? I hope I can work out the details myself, but a general advice would be most helpful.
Thanks,
garcanrya

I have an Access database set up with a table, several queries and forms (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Pending). When I click on the any of the forms the table come up with rows of data just like it should. When I click on any of the rows instead of the data coming up so that I can edit it the entire Access database shuts down and then restarts. A backup version of the database is generated and it asks me to save it. I have verified that the forms are linked to the correct queries so I'm at a loss as to why this is occurring.

i have a query that returns anywhere between 0-20ish records, and i need an efficient way to count how many records are returned. any ideas?
i was also wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this:
Code: [Text127] = DLookup("[Comments]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text175] = DLookup("[Performed]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text177] = DLookup("[Model]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text179] = DLookup("[Serial]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text181] = DLookup("[System]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text183] = DLookup("[HComments]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)[Text201] = DLookup("[Labor]", "orderheaderz", "[OrderNumber] = " & GlOrderNumber)
mabey i could condense them into one Dlookup somehow? any ideas?
thnx for your help

I have a button on a form which is used to print shipping labels. This button runs a Query and then a report using the code below.
Private Sub SaveBtn_Click()
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET DateBookedOut = '" & Me!DateTxt & "' WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"
DoCmd.RunSQL "Update BookInTable SET BookedOut = True WHERE BarCode ='" & Me![BarTxt] & "'"
DoCmd.OpenQuery "PrintLabelQuery"
DoCmd.OpenReport "Labels", acViewPreview
DoCmd.PrintOut , , , , 1
DoCmd.SetWarnings True
End Sub
But I need both the query results and the report to not be seen. All I want to happen when clicking the button is that a label is printed.

Hello all. I need some help calculating the total number of records returned in a query anytime i run the query.
I have a form that creates an SQL statement and changes the querydef at runtime and displays the results in a listbox. I want to include on my form a percentage of the total records from the table based on the records returned in the query Ex. (5/10) so I can use this information on a report.
What I am trying to ultimately acheive is to calculate an attrition rate based on the number of (clients that leave in a given period / total new clients added in the given period )
thanks for your help!

is it possible to repeat a query on data returned by the same query while returning it to a single table?
i have a query that runs on the following info:
PartNumber - the part number of an item
AsmNumber - the part number of the item the part belongs to
IsAsm - true/false on whether or not the part is an assembly
(see attached database)
the current query, when 11135 is used as input, returns 11124, 11165, 11103, and 11155. likewise when 11165 is entered the query returns 11109, 11110, and 11111.
i would like the query to return 11124, 11165, 11109, 11110, 11111, 11103, and 11155 when 11135 is entered.
the sample database attached is stripped down but accurately reflects what i'm working with. i do not know how many sub-assemblies belong to a top-assembly (could be zero, one, or sixteen), therefore i think the 'sub-query' would use the 'IsAsm' value as some sort of criteria - yes?
if what i'm asking is impossible, i'm very open to suggestions as long as they work with the data given.
i appreciate any help (especially being this is my first post) and apologize for the verbose post, i'm not good with brevity.

I am working in MS Access 2000. I have a query that is returning a table with various types of data. The problem is I can't seem to find anywhere in the Access GUI that will show me the data types of columns it has returned so I can't manually create a table to hold the values returned by query. Question is two fold:
1. Is there a way in Access SQL to import data returned from a query into a table that is not yet defined. Some like this:
a. Create a table that has a primary key but doesn't yet know the number of columns and/or data types of those columns.
b. Import the data from a query into this table and have it create the columns and copy the data types and populate the table while also numbering each row by primary key.
or
2. Is there a way to find out what the data types are for a table returned by a query in MS Access. I have checked the properites of the query and have been up and down the gui looking but I can't find a way while looking at the data returned by a query to explicitely see the data type (i.e., number, Date/Time, etc..) used by each column.
Any info would help. Thanks.

I am trying to use Dcount to find the number of records in a query and put it on a text box in the header of a report. The query is a parameter query. The button opens a form which asks for start and end dates, the query reads those dates from the form and the report displays the correct number of records that fall within the date range. The query is based on another query, which is based on the table. I tried =dcount("*","qryName") but I get #error. Maybe becauase of dates? or parameters?
