I have table that I had to add a new field to which we update with a form. I tried to add a control for the new field but the field does not show up in the list for the control source. I am trying to add a list box to the form with a blank and 5 options.
I have attached screen shots of the table design and the form. The table has the field in datasheet view and I have manually entered a few entries in it but it still will not show in the control source for the form control. The top section of the form is where we enter and select the data for the new records. The bottom section (circled in red) autofills the matching record, from separate tables, for updating with the new entries.
I have added form controls for modified fields in the past so I am confused about why this is happening.
I am trying to create a form with multiple combo boxes where users can select fields from my main database and click a button to generate a report based on their selections. I think I am supposed to create a generic report with perhaps 4 fields where I would link the four combo boxes to. The issue is I cant seem to get the selection of the combo box to change the field that the report should pull from the database. I think I am supposed to use dlookup in the reports control source for each field, but I cant seem to get it to work.
I have a form that has five subforms on it. On Open all the subforms are unbound (so i can prevent the queries from running before the On Open event to speed up). Then i can enter my criteria for all five subforms in txtbox and click run. After I establish the source object for the subforms, i cannot establish the controlsource for several text boxes that pull the data from the subform, i get #Name?. her is a sample from the on click event... the top links the unbound subform and the bottom should then link a control in the subform to a control on the main form.

i have a list box with 6 columns. in column 6 there is a time field. on selecting this list box i want to set the value of a combo box to the time field.
This has no effect. I am not sure if i have done this correctly. but the combo box has manual values in it. the reason i want to have values in it is so if the treatment is 45 minutes at default. But i want to change it to 30 minutes just for a single occasion then i thought that this would be the way to do it.
I want to create a table of all fields in a form, their datatype and their controlsource.
I have done the first 2 parts easily enough using the forms.formname.controls.name property and TypeName(forms.formname.controls)
But I am unable to pragmatically read the controlSource. EG forms.formname.controls.txtname.controlsource works
but when In a for loop
I cannot use the name of the control to return the control source.

When the user enters the invoice number it populates the ship, consignee, billing address information. I have the list box to display line items for that invoice.
Currently I just have them enter the invoice number twice.
Is there a way I can take the user input and apply it to my other query?
I'm preparing a query as the control source for an unbound listbox. The following code gives the desired results:

Now, I'm trying to use a trick I read about that should add a single textual entry to the top of the list like so:

The second (numeric) column is now out of order. This is reproducible for other values of my.control. If there are double digit entries they get inserted at the third row.
Why? What am I not understanding about how UNION works?
(BTW, I know I could put the "ALL" entry into tblCameras, thereby avoiding the need for a union, but I'd still like to know why the unexpected result.)
I have a form, with a tab control on it. Each tab has a subform to display data. One tab is meant to be a summary tab of the rest, so I want to pull data from certain controls on each of the other tabs to display on the Summary tab.
If I set the ControlSource to Forms!subfrmLABOUR!txtTotalHours.Value the control just displays #Name?
I assume that means it can't reference the ControlSource. Is it just a syntax thing? I've tried various methods, but no luck.
I am relatively new to Access and i am wondering why i cannot find a specific field from a table on the control source when i am and attached it to a check box.
I have created the field on the table, and now i want to attached it to the check box on a form however when i go down the list of control sources i cannot see it.
I have an access database where I have added a new field, but I cannot find the name of that field in the Control Source list to link it from where the data will be entered. It IS in the table, too. Why in the world is it not working.
A user enters a New Job Opening into the form for New Job Opening. Later, a user enters a New Interview in the New Interview form.... when they enter the job opening number into the job opening number field, it auto-populates the other information previously entered into the New Job Opening form into an area within the New Interview form. I have made sure the new field is in the table for the New Job Openings table.
I have created a system consisting of a data entry form etc. It was originally connected to one record source exported from a sharepoint site.I had to add a field to the sharepoint site and so i created this additional field and re-exported the data and changed the forms record source and all occurences in the code of previous to new record source.
However, this change of record source produces the following error on every single event.The expression On Load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: member already exists in an object from which this object module derives.
I tried to break the code as soon as it hits the load function to track the error - but it doesn't even run this function so the code is not executing at all.When i connect back to the old record source it works fine.
Is there a way to set the control source for an entire form through VBA? I have a database that was set up just as an archive file, not intending to have any forms or reports in it. It was simply to house tables containing data from previous years. My main database just copies the table over to the archive file and adds the year to the table name. I have just been told that the users would like a form and a series of reports set up in this database.
I would like to set the main form up so that before it will allow them to do anything, they have to enter the year of the data they are looking for. After the year has been entered, I would like to adjust the control source of the form to reflect the appropriate table. In other words, when a user opens the archived database, he or she will see a field for the year an nothing else. Once they enter the year they are looking for, the form will populate with data from the corresponding table (the table names look like this - tblPM_Completed_2013). Is this possible?
I have an unbound form with three tabs. On each tab there is a sub form. Each tab is a search form and each sub is a results returned. I have made everything unbound and set the sub form recordsource and its controls control souce on afterupdate of the main form search criteria. Works fine except for after some use the db decides the sub forms are not unbound and sets the record source and control sources.
Expressions in Access have given me some trouble before. Mainly due to inexperience. I hardly ever work with them. What I am trying to do is make the default value of a form textbox control the minimum value of a field A in a table A. The datatype of Field A is Date.
So far I've got:
=Min([table A].[field A])
In the Default Value of the form's property sheet, but this just returns a blank value. I've had a look in the table and there is no value that is blank in field A.
I added a new field to one of my tables and query, but when I try to add a control for that field into my form it is not recognising it and the field isn't appearing in the sources for the form, even though the table is sourced to the form? Or am I going to have to do the usual and redo the entire form because I made a minor adjustment?
I have created a table for installer invoicing, and have a field for invoice amount. I have created a user input form that allows a user to fill in certain pay rates for different aspects of installation, and would like to know how to make the invoice amount a calculated control that will auto update the field InvoiceAmt in my table. I can't figure out how to do this in the property sheet.
Hi, I know this has to be simple, but when I test a Data Access Page on my local machine I get an error that says "data source field is read only". I've made these pages before and never had a problem with writing to the database using a DAP. The database is not read only. Any ideas?
I got a field which is defnined based on a query result to ease the user input. However, some input are not in the query list, if I input data directly to the field, ACCESS complained I must choose item from the query result. Is there any way that the user can either select from query result or direct input to that single field?
I have a table of people, each with an ID, and I have a table of events, each with an ID.
I want to design a form in such a way that when you look at each person it gives a row of event fields, one for each event, into which you can put a Number for the number of tickets that each person wants (each person will only want to go to a few events).
If you enter a number, I want the form to generate new record in a separate table (tickets) with three fields - the Person's Id, the Event ID and the number of tickets.
I only want one ticket record per person per event (so if the numer of tickets changes I want the form to amend the number, not create a new record.
So, I want the Form to show "page" for each person, with "fields" for each event, the info being stored in a separate table, which the form is able to cycle through, despite the fact that there will not be records for every person.

I have a form where users enter data in various ways - combo boxes with drop down selections and text boxes where users manually enter some data. I also have several text boxes that return "answers" based on calculations from user entries mentioned above. The form is bound to a table where all the entered data is stored. I'm having trouble saving the calculated information to the bound table. It's easy in all the non-calced boxes, I just put the column name of the bound table in the control source, but in the calculated fields, I already have the formula in the control source. How can I identify the proper column to save the data in this case.
