I need to import an excel sheet containing updated tickets to my access ticket database. They have unique IDs in the form of a "Ticket ID" field.
I could just use an append query to add the new tickets to my database, but there are some changes on the excel side to tickets that already exist in access as well. What would be the easiest way to facilitate this import and overwrite all tickets with matching Ticket IDs to the new ones contained in the excel file?
I already have the excel file imported into it's own table, so it's a matter of updating my main table off of this temporary table containing the excel tickets. The field names are the same across both tables, it's just a matter of updating the info contained in them.
This will need to be repeated for multiple different excel files, so the easier the better!
how to import data from excel 2007 like' suppose the field in DB table is A, B & C and the same is there in excel 2007, now i like to get B & C filed data from excel to DB table directly (import) which may be through button at form, because i have given my user the accdr file so they cann't go into the table and paste record.
hi, i have struggled to import some data from an excel file into an sql database.. i have used phpmyadmin and certain code snippets but have failed miserably..
basically my excel file has lots of data, and within each cell, each bit of data is in single quotes...
eg. 'jonathan' '23' 'hardman' 'cheese'
there are no headings in the excel file (as in column or row titles) the data is just raw. once i have made the table (with the appropriate fields and datatypes for the csv file) how can i import that data into a table using ms access???
My question is: how do I set up the table to minimize redundant data. I have several fields that match the column headings in Excel, so the data can be imported, but fields like user name, pick slot, batch # all get redundant every time I import. My file is getting unnecessarily large. I know splitting the one table into many is the right thing to do, but don't have a clue how to import the data than. any help
I'm trying to import a sheet from a excel spreadsheet.
this is my "code"
The problem is that when i hit the run button, it imports blank sheets or more likely is not importing at all  :(
On Error GoTo ErrorTrap Dim dlgOpen2 As FileDialog Dim countrystring2 As String
Set dlgOpen2 = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
With dlgOpen2
If txtFile2 <> "" Then .InitialFileName = txtFile2 countrystring2 = txtFile2 & "!RB_UPDATES" Else .InitialFileName = CurrentProject.Path End If .AllowMultiSelect = False .Show End With If dlgOpen2.SelectedItems.Count <> 0 Then txtFile2 = dlgOpen2.SelectedItems(1) End If Exit Sub
I have been importing excel spreadsheets succesfully for a long time now and this new problem I have never seen before. I don't know how to deal with it. I have had a look on here but could find nothing similar, I have not really had a any luck searching google, mainly because I am at wits end to find a suitable search term.
Here's what's happening: When i upload the sheet as is, it works fine, bar a "data conversion error" for one column which contains mainly numbers but a few cells of letters.
as before, I have inserted a line at the top of the spreadsheet (below the column headings), and put a 1 in for each numeric column and a letter for each alphanumeric and text based column.
Now when i import to access, I get no conversion error, but access has inlcuded about 20'000 blank lines between the headings and the actual data.
I am running this code to import an Excel sheet into a table in my database. This works fine if I set [HasFieldNames] to false. When [HasFieldNames] is set to true, I get the correct field names in the table, but don't get any data from the sheet.
I am getting "Truncation Error" while importing data from Excel to access 2007. I have tried changing the format to short text but the result is the same.
So I press a button on my Form1 and my tbl_customers table is exported onto a specific sheet in a templated Excel file "customer-template" that I have created.
This file has formulas on another sheet that based on the imported data.
The file is then saved to a specific location C:AccessCustomersHistory with the file name based on a date that was criteria from my original form E.g. "customers 11-02-15"
I've got the forms and queries in one .accdb file and my tables in a separate .accdb file. The forms file links to the tables in the tables file. The tables file resides in a folder called simply enough C:acc_tables and thats where i browsed to (obviously) when i set up the linkage.
One of the users does not wish (for whatever goddamn reason) to create a C:acc_tables file to stick the tables file in , and wants the tables file in some other folder.. Unfortunately this user does not have the skills to delete the existing links and re-link to the tables file after putting it in the folder he wants.
Where in the file that holds the forms and and queries do i find the path setting to the tables linked file? Can it be changed without deleting links and then re-linking?
I have 12,000 cvs that i need to get into An access database so i can start to extract email info etc. They are stored in one folder All Cvs under each of their names edc.txt (i have converted them to .txt) i want to create one table with two fields name (taken from the cv filename and contents (taken fromthe contents of the .txt file). I am using Access 2007.
So I have had Access for all of one day now. I am trying to import an excel file into access as a table. I successfully imported the first file but the second file gives me an error that says "An error occurred trying to import file ____. The file was not imported." What are the possible reasons this error has occurred? Both excel files I am importing are in the same format, so I am confused as to why one worked but the other did not. Thanks for any help.
Hi all. I have an excel spreadsheet that pulls company information off of our internal system that is linked to an access database table (let's call it "General"). The General information is current and is updated within our internal system (but through the Access side will not need to be updated), however, I have a separate table (let's call it "Detail") that has information (employment, revenue numbers) that I want users to input through access. The two tables are joined through a relationship, however, b/c General is a linked table I am a) unable to assign a primary key and b) unable to edit the Detail information in a form view. I know this is related to Microsoft's limitation on excel linked table, but I was wondering if there is a way around it besides copying the General data into an access table. Would be grateful for any help!
I have a excel table (lets say the format is as follows)
col1 col2 dataset1 value1 dataset2 value2
(where col1 and col2 are the column names and dataset x and value x are the respective data values of each column) I have a access form and it has a combo box and a text box From Combo box I need to retrieve data available in col1 o excel once a particular dataset in col1 has been selected by Combo box the respective value in col2 should be displayed in text box in access form.
I was trying to create a linked table in excel to access ( I don't want to export data from excell to access since my excell sheet is getting changing time to time. so i don't need to change the access table every time)
for combo box a simple query like below works to select the col1 values from sheet 1
select col1 from Sheet1 (where Sheet1 is the linked table name in access)
I wrote a code similar to below using DLookup to get respective values from col2 however it gives a error '#Name?
I have a problem whereby I want to import an Excel file into my Access db but certain characters like >< it doesn't accept. what other options do I have?
Is the record is already existing in access, but a few fields are blank, is there any way to import an excel file that just updates those blank fields for the specific record?
For example,
I have an excel file that includes files that are ready to ship out. My access database already has those file names, but does not have the shipping box number. Is there any way to import the excel file into my database, have it find those specific file names and update the shipping box number field? The excel file won't be adding any new records, just appending existing records.
I am getting the message (Type mismatch) every time I try to import a spreadsheet regardless if is to add into a existing table or to create a new table,
On Error GoTo ErrorHandler Dim exApp As Excel.Application Dim exDoc As Excel.Workbook Dim exSheet As Excel.Worksheet Dim Dateiname As String Dim SQL As String
[Code] ....
I'll get the following error:
error message 1004: can not give a sheet, the same name of the sheet
I am trying to export certain values which are in combo box of MS Access to excel sheet. But what's happening is its populating ID of the field instead of Field Name.
Excuse me! i would like to know how to use browse function (like in windowXP) to select the excel file i want instead of using transferspreadsheet code.
I have an excel file that I need to prepare to create a report. It would be great if I could do this with Access 2003. This would mean that I need to import the excel file and create a table to handle this.Is there by any chance that I don't need to create a table and I can process the excel file? Or maybe automate the import of the excel file into table and only use a few of the columns so later I can create the report in access. Also what I need to do is add some columns with text in it (a standard text) that needs to add a day taken form the column to the right.
I simply would like to avoid to create a table from the import as this would make me end with a lot of tables (or mabye option to delete the table after finishing producing the report.
Basically I want to import an excel file that doesn't have any column headings and the data starts on row 4. I already have a table with all of the column headings set in Access.
My research led me to create an import specification and then edit that in the 'mSysIMEXSpecs' Table to Start on Row 4 and then use that spec in VBA to transfer the file to my table. That all seems good, but it seems like an Import Spec only gets saved to the 'mSysIMEXSpecs' Table if you are importing a text file. Nothing gets saved there for Excel.
