Queries :: Parameter Query To Return Clients In Particular Age

Sep 10, 2013

I am using Access 2010. I've calculated the age of clients by creating a new field with Age: Year(Now())-Year([D O B]) but I cannot figure out how to use a parameter query to return the age of the clients between age 20 and 30, 30 and 40, 40 and 50 etc.

Queries :: Setting Parameter Labels Is Causing Query To Return No Data

Jul 3, 2014

My parameters are linked to a form and say:

[Forms]![FormName]![Field] or [Forms]![FormName]![Field] Is Null

Ordinarily this works fine in returning either the selected value or all values if left null.

I need to pull in data from a Crosstab query, which means setting my parameter labels to [Forms]![FormName]![Field].

The problem is that setting the parameter labels is conflicting with pulling all records if the form dropdown is left null.

If I keep my parameters simple and just say [Forms]![FormName]![Field] then the query works with the crosstab data, but I can't do that. I need to show any records if the dropdown is left null.

The crosstab data isn't specifically the problem but needing to set the parameter names seems to be

I think I may have found a workaround by labeling the column headings in the crosstab, which means I don't have to assign parameter labels

It would still be good to know if there's a way of making it work with the parameter labels but this will do for now...

Query Parameter To Just Return Weekdays

Oct 11, 2007

I am trying to write a query that looks at groups of records for averages and maximums but the records are only from Mon-Fri (Trading Days). I have a query that runs everyday and compares today's close to see if it is greater than the maximum close of the last 20 trading days. I want to use between date()-21 and date()-1. BUT this will include weekends where there is no data.

QUESTION: Is there a way to say between the last 20 trading days(Mon-Fri)?

I researched dateadd() and found one place were it says that "w" is used for weekday. http://www.database-design-2000.com/dateadd.htm BUT when I did a simple query to see if it would exlude the weekends it doesn't. I will have no data for the weekends but if I am doing an average of the last three days and this is run on Monday, it will only include Monday and not the previous Thursday and Friday. Thanks for your help:)

Automatically Return Parameter Query As A Report

Mar 14, 2006

I created a combo box that runs a parameter query based on the name entered in the box.

Is there some way to return the results as a report instead of in datasheet view?

I'm wondering if inserting some sort of code into the event procedure of the "OK" button (which launches the query) would work.

Would greatly appreciate help---

Queries :: Finding Only The Clients That Has Only 4 Types Of Products?

Sep 14, 2014

find only some clients that has only 4 types of products, but no other type of products.

Just to put it in a much easier way to understand. If I have to find only the client that did buy only 1 or more from the 4 products. Fridge, tv, dvd player, mobile phone. But I'm not interested in the clients that also did buy for example, laptop, pc, video cameras, etc. So if the client has only one of the 4 products, I want to list them all, did they buy another type of product too, then not.

How could I create a query that will show me only those clients?

Sales Rep, Total Sales
1, 100
2, 200
3, 500
4, 50
5, 150

I need to create a report which delivers the sales rep with the most sales and only that sales rep

e.g.

3,500

Queries :: Query To Return Records For A Given Year

Feb 3, 2014

I'm trying to create a query to show me records for a given year. The issue I'm having is that each record has (4) dates fields and each record can contain null values. Is it possible to do this in a query with data like the example below?

Field 1 ID (1), Field 2 Date (12/22/2012), Field 3 Date (2/06/2013), Field 3 Date (Null), Field 4 Date (Null)

In this example I would want 2013 data but would need to be able to search any year. I could also have dates in all (4) fields

Queries :: Return Only False Values In Query

Aug 2, 2014

I have a table that has a list of tasks and checkboxes attached to them to be checked once the task is completed. I need to run a query on the table that will only bring me back the tasks with a completion that is false.

Everything that I read online indicates that this is a difficult task for access. Maybe I can accomplish this in SQL view instead of design? If I put false is all of the yes/no fields, the query brings back nothing.

Queries :: JOIN Query To Return Most Recent Record?

Aug 18, 2014

I have two tables with a one to many relationship. The tables are linked by the INDEX column.

EXAMPLE:

Code:
TABLE_1
INDEX NAME
1 Name_A
2 Name_B
3 Name_C

TABLE 2
INDEX NUM_INDEX STATUS
1 1 REJECTED
1 2 REJECTED
1 3 OPEN
2 1 CLOSED
3 1 REJECTED
3 2 OPEN

I need the NAME field from TABLE_1 and the Last STATUS field from TABLE_2 (MAX of NUM_INDEX).

Example:
Name_A, OPEN
Name_B, CLOSED
Name_C, OPEN

SQL that I have now.

Code:
SELECT A.FIN_Finding_Number, B.Max_Index
FROM TBL_Findings AS A INNER JOIN (SELECT RES_Finding_Index, Max(RES_Response_Index) As Max_Index
FROM TBL_Response GROUP BY RES_Finding_Index ) AS B ON A.FIN_Finding_Index = B.RES_Finding_Index
WHERE (((A.FIN_Finding_Index)=34));

This SQL statement will return me the Finding_Number and Max_Index. I don't need the Max_Index. I need the Status. If I put the Status in the Sub-Query and GROUP BY it, it will return both REJECTED and OPEN. I just need it to return OPEN.

I am trying to create a Totals Query which returns a data set between two dates. So far I have managed to select the data I want (Please see attached screenshot). However, I only want to select records between a date range working on my field [DueDate]. If I add the due date field to the current query then it removes the grouping and all records are displayed.

Queries :: Modifying A Query To Return Only Instances Where There Is More Than 3 Records

Sep 26, 2014

I have an existing query, created using the query wizard which works just fine - however, I would like to modify it to return only instances where there are 3 or more records appearing.

Essentially, its an employee history report for a particular action done by those employees, which returns all records between two dates as specified by the user. What I would like to do is only show those employees who have had more than three instances of this action in the given date period.

I am thinking along the lines of DCount? but how it would be phrased in the query?

I would like to create another field in the query using DLookup to return the value of the BrithMon.

BrithMonthID=DLookUp("MonID","tblListMons","BirthM on = Mon")

This works good if used with an unbound text box on a form, but when entered into a query expressions, an error is returned: cannot find the name 'BirthMon'

Can I used DLookUp in a Query expression to refer to another Query created field?

Queries :: Running Query In Background And Return Result In Control

I have several queries that perform an audit on data. I want to create a form that has two buttons, multiple labels and textboxes. When the first button is pressed, it runs all queries and returns a count of the records within each query into the corresponding textbox. Then I want a a button that will clear all textboxes. I don't want to see the queries, I just want them to run in the background and the count results to be populated in the textboxes.

So for example, it would return:

Check1: 3
Check2: 6
Check3: 2
Check4: 0

Modules & VBA :: Return Rows In Query From Variant Array Return From UDF

Sep 16, 2014

I have a simple UDF that takes a string and returns a variant, which is an array of strings Example Input "Brick Wall" Return value would be a variant array with first element "Brick" and and second element "Wall" Now I have a table with a field of strings, and I want to make a query that returns all the results from the function, one per line.

So if my input table looks like this

[strField]
"kick the ball"
"return the pass"

my query result should looks like this

[Orig] [new]
"kick the ball" "kick"
"kick the ball" "the"
"kick the ball" "ball"
"return the pass" "return"
"return the pass" "the"
"return the pass" "pass"

Last time I had to do something like this I used VBA exclusively, with ADO objects, but I thought a query based solution would be easier.

With my current data the largest return array size my function returns is 27 elements but I wouldn't want to rely on that number being fixed.

Queries :: Don't Want Parameter In Query

Apr 25, 2013

I have a table that has a date column. I am assigning one group of students a test date of 4/29 and another group 4/30. I don't want access to change the column or ask for a parameter during the query, but no matter what I do, it keeps asking me for a parameter. I just want it to use the data that is already in the column.

I tried changing the column name in Excel to DOT from Date. That didn't work.I also tried changing the column to text, so that it wouldn't be a "date." That didn't work.

Queries :: Subquery To Return Latest / Most Recent Value For Each Record In Main Query

May 7, 2014

I have a table of accounts and a table of rates. There is a one-to-many relationship between them (i.e. each account can have multiple rates, each with their own - unique - effective date)

I'm trying to build a query which will show me all of the accounts in the accounts table and the most recent rate (based on the effective date) for each of those accounts.

This is as far as I've gotten with the SQL :

Code:
SELECT [tblAccounts].[AccountID], [tblAccounts].[AccountNumber], [tblAccounts].[AccountName], [LatestRate].[IntRate], [LatestRate].[EffectiveDate]
FROM [tblAccounts]
LEFT JOIN
(SELECT TOP 1 [tblRates].[AccountID], [tblRates].[IntRate], [tblRates].[EffectiveDate]
FROM [tblRates]
ORDER BY [tblRates].[EffectiveDate] DESC) AS LatestRate
ON [tblAccounts].[AccountID] = [LatestRate].[AccountID]

But this can't work because the [LatestRate] subquery can only ever return one record (i.e. the most recent rate across all of the accounts)

I need the most recent rate for each of the accounts in the main query

(FYI - I use an outer join as it is possible for no rate to be available in the rates table for a given account, in which case I want to return the null value rather than omit the account from the resulting dataset...)

Queries :: Set Parameter As First Value From Separate Query

Aug 11, 2015

I have multiple queries that I need to have filered by the same parameter (Client). There is a list of clients that receive this report (the report has a pre-made template with multiple tabs, hence the multiple queries).

Currently the user of the database has to filter the exported excel file for each client re-save and email basied on the client. The above is done when the user pushes the specified button on a form (which just says run report a on it).

I am trying to figure out how the write a code so that a parameter (or table if that would work better) pulls the first record of the Client query to filter the other queries being run. Then to loop that process with the second record and so on through the Client query until all the clients have had the report run for them.

Attached are the current VBA being used and the current SQL for the first query that needs the parameter value added.

Queries :: Using Like Criteria In Parameter Query

Aug 10, 2013

It is possible to create a parameter query in Access that will search for records that match the parameter entered by the user AND contain all other records that have that value plus other text.

For instance you may want Access to return all records that begin with the letter Q.

To do this you need to enter the following expression into the criteria row:

Like [Find records beginning with:] & "*" Or Is Null

The user can enter a Q and the criteria concatenates the wildcard character * to this parameter value, to find all text strings that begin with a Q.

By also using Or Is Null in the criteria the user can enter a blank value into the parameter query to return all records, even if this field is blank.

But how do I search if i want all the records with John anywhere in the field???

Queries :: Less Than Parameter In Query Works Except When Value Is 100

Jun 27, 2014

I have a query that checks a table where there's a field that only has numbers from 0 to 100 (a grade), let's call that field "average" (note, the values 0 to 100 are actual numeric values, not percentages)

here's the problem:

when I filter the query using a parameter like <[value] on the average field, the query does show the expected records that have an average value that is less than the value that I input when prompted... except that it also includes the records on which the average field is 100 ... ... for some uknown reason.

to clarify:it won't show anything over the imput value, it just shows anything under the value I imput (good) and anything that has an average of 100

when I hard code the value for the parameter say <65 the query gives me the results expected (anything less than 65 in the average field) without including records with average equal to 100

some details:

the average field has this code: Average: CInt(Nz([Grade]))

the query looks like this:

SELECT [All Classes P1 Query].Class, [All Classes P1 Query].[Student ID], [All Classes P1 Query].[Full Name], [All Classes P1 Query].Subject, CInt(Nz([Grade])) AS Average, [All Classes P1 Query].Qualification, [All Classes P1 Query].[Student - Class - Grade].[Class Grading Period]
FROM [All Classes P1 Query]
GROUP BY [All Classes P1 Query].Class, [All Classes P1 Query].[Student ID], [All Classes P1 Query].[Full Name], [All Classes P1 Query].Subject, CInt(Nz([Grade])), [All Classes P1 Query].Qualification, [All Classes P1 Query].[Student - Class - Grade].[Class Grading Period]
HAVING (((CInt(Nz([Grade])))<[value]));
